"Why, we would be absolutely delighted to do so, Major Maldris. Where should we bring him once we have him and the evidence in custody?"
The Captain nods. ”Glad to hear it; just bring him to me here at the Wisp. I have an arrangement with Heryn Gale to operate here, in the back, while we await the announcement of Greyrein’s successor…”
"Will we have special papers denoting that we're deputies? What about the city guards here? Will they be annoyed with us encroaching on their territory?"
”Of course, you’ll have this warrant signed by me, meaning you are de facto deputies of Andor…and you’ll have no troubles from the local authorities as this is strictly an Andoran issue…”
He hands you the warrant and gives you directions to Halmont’s flat. ”Good luck and hope to see you back soon…”
You make your way to Halmont’s place, a two-story flat with four entrances; two double doors to the south, a double door to the north, and a single door on the east side…
NOTE: On the map, the level your icons are next to is the first floor of the apartment, ignore the blue boxes covering the north of the map as it deals with other floors in the place.

Piotr moves carefully and quietly to the side door and waits for the others to get there. He presses a large lupine ear against the door and listens for anything within.

Professor Masaendri would also cast Mage Armor as soon as they left the Wisp.
Following the muscle, the Professor trails Piotr to the side door, making an effort to avoid being seen from the windows (except for a taking a quick peek of her own while he listens at the door).

Earlier, upon arrival near Halmont’s Flat...
"Oh, yeah. I should put up some magical defence of my own."
Piotr pulls out an ancient, yellowed leg bone from some type of humanoid. He murmers a short prayer to Milani, "Dearest Everbloom, protect me in my time of need."
As he finishes, the femur slips from his hand and begins to float, slowly orbiting around him.

*Crunch, crunch, crunch...*
Piotr moves cautiously toward the door, making no effort to conceal his approach. The gravel covered pathway crunches beneath his boots, and daffodils and tulips bend and snap underfoot as he accidentally tramples through a flower bed.
"Oopsie."

Hellebore stands back out of the way of any misfiring doors.

Piotr shakes his head.
"Pfft." he scoffs.'You gnomes have such a stragnge lagnguage."
"Did I say that correctly? I'm not fluent in gnomish whatsoever."

![]() |

"Much better. Now let's see what's inside."
Gnagnatsu will vanish and then open the door, quickly looking for a spot where she can both hide and observe. She only has 5 rounds of invisibility.

The Professor gestures for everyone to file in before her.
Piotr nods at The Professor. He draws his wickedly sharp sword and steps into the room. He glances about for anything out of the ordinary. He even looks up at the ceiling above him, worried for some reason there might be a green slime waiting to drop down on him.

You open the door into what is obviously a kitchen. There are several cabinets and a stone hearth is set up for cooking; two tables in the middle of the room are clean and ready for food preparation, along with another table in the northwest corner…

Since no one seems to be here, Gnagnatsu will go straight to the next door and search it.

Gnagnatsu carefully opens the door and, if she has any rounds of invisibility left, sneaks to a good spying vantage like she planned before.

![]() |

Arching an eyebrow at Hellebore's impudence, Professor Masaendri strides purposefully toward the far door. The priority here is securing any people in the premises, then securing the evidence. There will be plenty of time to search the kitchen for the latter after the former are securely trussed and tied.
For now, she listens from her vantage point for sounds coming from the room beyond.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28

Gnagnatsu opens the door and sees…
This is a broad room that houses a 15-foot-long dining table with eight elegant chairs…
The Professor’s keen Elven ears hears a slight noise coming from above…

Waving to quietly get the group's attention, the Professor points up toward the source of the sound. She waits for everyone else to file into the next room before her.

Piotr cannot make out the noise that the Professor informs them of. He does notice a door in the southeast corner of the room and notices to the west an open entrance into another room, which appears to be the living room…

Piotr moves toward a set of double doors along the south wall of the extravagant dining room.
"We should seal all the doors leading outside," he says. "If Halmont tries to make a run for it, I’m sure he’ll head for one of them. We can push the dining table against this door and the porcelain dish cabinet against the other. Should be enough to stall him if he tries to escape. We shoud do the same with the kitchen door too."
He calls out across the room, "Hey, Lanel! Think you’re strong enough to drag that kitchen table over and brace it against the door? With those noodly arms of yours?" Piotr adds with a small chuckle.
Turning away, he moves toward a small closet tucked into the corner. He opens the door carefully and scans the inside, keeping an eye out for anything unusual or useful.

He will proceed to move it as directed and sticks with him in case they are discovered
Piotr taps his foot impatiently as Lanel struggles to pull the heavy, solid oak table to the kitchen door.
"Need some help, 'Noodle Arms'?”All in good fun, Lanel! Just doing some role playing.
Moving a large and heavy oak table is pretty difficult. So is removing a solid oak door from its hinges and moving it. Ugh.
I have noodly arms myself and probably a Strength of 8. Lol.

![]() |

Gnagnatsu will contribute her apparently massive 10 strength to the effort.

As the others move tables to block main doors, Piotr opens the door to the ‘closet’…
…but his nose wrinkles, along with Hellebore’s, as he finds not a closet but a privy! He sees the small room has little other than a small table with a washbasin and a polished wooden bench that sits over a metal privy pan. A row of hooks on the back of the door holds hand towels.
The Professor, with the proper amount of disdain for menial labor, leaves her companions to do the heavy moving while she checks out the living room. She finds the large room has ample space for entertaining guests. It has two storage rooms accessible by doors to the east, and a set of polished oak stairs ascends to the second floor.

The witch gags a little as the smell rolls out of the room and she flees into the living room.
"*cough* There's stairs up over *coughcough* here. Piotr, please shut that door *cough*." She pulls out a handkerchief and wipes her eyes.
"I think that's even worse than you, sweetheart." she whispers to Belladonna.

"My pleasure." Piotr quickly slams the privy door shut.
He moves into the main entry hall, and without a word, hauls the big table to the front doors and pushes it up against them on it's side.

"Well, now that we've made our presence thoroughly known by all that noise, I suggest we move quickly." Professor Masaendri chastises, pointing toward the stairs and shooing the group toward them. She will follow in the rear, of course.

After the gnome goes invisible and Piotr notices the door creep open, he draws his blade and steps to the side about 4.625 feet.

![]() |

Gnagnatsu opens the door far enough to look in. This is a well-appointed office with rugs, a desk, and shelves of books…
…good thing she’s invisible though as she sees a German Shepherd dog, standing in front of what appears to be a safe, his head cocked at the open door with no one there…the dog sniffs and starts to growl…

Hellebore leans over and tries to shut the dog up. "Sleep..." she whispers. DC 18 Will save

With just a whisper from Hellebore, the dog’s growl turns into a yawny whine as it drops its head and goes into a deep sleep in front of the safe, snoring…

![]() |

"Good job putting the dog to sleep. I don't like to harm dogs."
"Should we try getting the safe open or keep searching for Halmont?"
Piotr turns his attention to the sleeping guard dog after hearing a sharp yip. He notices its legs twitching as if it's running in its sleep.
"Ha! The dog’s already dreaming," he says with a chuckle.

"The safe isn't going anywhere, but our quarry might be. Find him first." The Professor remarks, striding to the other door and peeking in.
If she sees a living person, she'll cast Charm Person (DC 15) immediately. If there's more than one, she'll cast it on the closest one in range (unless there's an obvious reason not to).

"Me neither," Hellebore responds. "I'm just glad that they didn't roll 1 higher it worked." She smiles gently at the good boi. Dream of large rabbits, friend...
The elf looks over at the sneaky gnome (maybe? if that's where she is) as she moves quietly after the professor. "Gnagnatsu, do you wanna look at the safe while we look in the next room? There might be evidence in there." she mutters softly trying to keep her footfalls quiet.
