Well ... the thing is ... my energy ray will get more powerful as I do. ((I have this boon)) but that's gonna take some time.
Oooh. Capture the flag? Are we going to do this in zero-gee? I LOVE zero-gee. I've actually been wondering if I should follow in my mother's footsteps and do some Star Shaman training.

GRIM*! spends a resolve point to recover stamina
"If this is a standard Starfinder ship I might be able to block a hallway with my size if needed, and if it's in zero-g I might be able to anchor myself in a small space and with my reach steady some of you if that helps."
| AbadarCorp Entertainment |
The merciful fusion are installed on anything that can hold them, but there are no other precautions: lethal spells are still lethal (and it's probably not a good idea to kill someone on prime-time TV)
Xoni Scarlex
|
Note: Miink's flight speed does not apply in zero G, according to the notes in the discussion thread. I assume this is due to no atmosphere more than no gravity.
My reading of the merciful fusion is that it can be applied to any weapon, including melee type weapons. Correct me if that's wrong. Is the encounter area zero atmosphere as well as zero G? Does the Boomer rifle work in zero atmosphere?
Xoni looks around the room for something bulky she can carry as ballast of sorts for dealing with zero-G situations.
Should we assume we have boot clamps and if so are they magnetic? If not magnetic, how do they work?
"Does anyone have any rope or cable?"
"Miinta and Zarzucket may want to grab onto me or Grim for starters."
Not only will this allow them to take advantage of our relatively high athletics or acrobatics skills but having a small one can be useful for maneuvering and eliminating the off kilter condition.
GM: Are we told whether the action will all take place in zero G outside the ship or will we be attempting to enter the interior of the ship for part of the action? If the latter, is the gravity and or atmosphere inside the ship?
Vega Capella
|
Rope? Oh for goodness sakes - something else I forgot.
Vega also spends a resolve for recover stamina. And since she doesn't have a weapon, it looks like she might have to go hand to hand. Plus a Flight spellgem might have been useful.
Miink
|
Miink fishes into her backpack and comes up with 50’ of rope. “Got it! I have another 50’ in here somewhere if we need it. I love being in zero-g. I can jump and glide pretty well, too. Most of the time I land on my feet.. or my back... and a few times on my head.”
She flies over to Vega and hands her a tactical semi-auto pistol and spare clips. The pistol looks like it was assembled from four or five other weapons, and maybe part of a vending machine.
“Here, Vega. This is the very first gun I ever made… that worked. We’ve been through a lot together.”
A piece falls off, but Miink catches it in mid-air and quickly reattaches it.
“Watch out for that.”
It’s a standard tactical semi-auto pistol with 9 rounds loaded and two full spare magazines. The "junk pistol" thing is all for fun. It's fully functional.
Archives of Nethys link -- standard tactical semi-auto pistol
Preparation: Mink casts Fabricate Scrap, then targets the pile with Junk Sword at second level. She gives the sword three properties: nonlethal, reach, and block. Finally, she commands the sword to sheath itself. It collapses into a wreath of junk around her hand like a glove.
Vega Capella
|
Vega smiles over to Miink as she pulls out some rubber bands out of a pocket and uses them to hold some of the gun pieces together. It also gets a Merciful Fusion attached.
Thanks .... I'll try not to break it
She contemplates the application of duct tape.
Brother GRIM*!
|
GRIM*! readies his bone club with the merciful fusion on it, and looks a bit confused.
"So we are supposed to hit them but not hurt them? Can I still intimidate them or do we have to not hurt their feeling too?"
Xoni Scarlex
|
"Let's start with one end of each rope held by Grim, Vega, Oshari, and me. How about Vega and I with one rope and Grim and Oshari with the other? Miink and Zarzucket pair up with Grim and I as you choose. That way, we can have options for helping each other. If someone misses a landing spot, the person at the other end of the rope can keep them from drifting away."
GM: I still need to know the answers to the questions posted earlier about the presence or absence of atmosphere and/or gravity inside or outside the ship.
Miink
|
”I think I need a suit with air!”
"Hold still... lemme look at this."
Miink pokes at Zarzucket’s stationwear, finally showing him a panel at the shoulder marked ‘environmental controls’.
“Don’t worry -- you’ve got environmentals in this. Not much physical protection, but you can breath. If you want something that’ll ward off hits better, I can make you a set before we begin. It’ll last until this time tomorrow — and it might even have some cool color combos like mine!”
She flies in a circle to show off her junk armor.
Zarzucket — Miink can make you light armor with environmental protections that’s EAC +5 / KAC +7, and max Dex bonus +2. Sorry — if I noticed your armor before, I would’ve outfitted you at the beginning!
Miink
|
GRIM*! -- Miink can also make a set of armor for you, same stats as Zarzucket. I have two 1st level spells left, so I can burn them both there. And you'll look pretty intimidating as a walking pile of artistically arranged junk!!! :)
Brother GRIM*!
|
@ Miink, That would help my EAC/KAC does the spell improve my current armor or do I need to remove it? Removing my armor would also remove my Grim Trophies armor upgrade that enhances my intimidation effect which can reduce the damage an opponent does.
| AbadarCorp Entertainment |
Some clarifications:
- The battle takes place inside the ship
- There is an atmostphere, so flight speeds apply normally
- Boomer rifles work normally
- Merciful fusion apply to both melee and ranged weapons
| AbadarCorp Entertainment |
You can still mention your three-round preparations before the start of your first action.
Beep. beep. boooop! And we're off, let's see who gets to the neutral flag first!

If we are inside the ship with atmosphere, then we only have to deal with the zero-G effects. Xoni will keep her boomer rifle and doshko. Looks like we won't need to be roped together at the beginning. Likewise, Zarzucket and Miink can move independently. Anyone not sure of their acrobatic/athletic abilities should stick close to another PC so if one loses control or gets off-kilter, someone can help. Xoni and Grim have the best skills for zero-G maneuvers so they should take the leads. Xoni or Grim should carry the flag, since each has an extra set of hands.
Xoni opens the door to the airlock and says, "This will take at least two shift to get us all through. Let's everyone except Grim squeeze in and start exploring and Grim can follow."
Xoni moves into the airlock and stands ready to open the other door once everyone has squeezed in and the first door is closed.
Let us know if the game mechanics of opening/closing airlock doors. Does it take an action? Can we see through the airlock to what is beyond or are we guessing as to which other door to open?
Brother GRIM*!
|
"I'll go last so I don't block everyone in."
GRIM*1 has one of the ropes read in one hand, the flag in another hand, one hand free, and his bone club in the last hand.
| AbadarCorp Entertainment |
The door are all opened, so you can just pass through.
Xoni Scarlex
|
If the doors are open, I'll have to ret-con my last post, please.
Xoni starts the event with her boomer rifle in hands, using her other two hands to deal with movement. Xoni pushes off the south wall to glide into the air lock area. She has trouble stopping her movement, which takes a moment to stabilize.
"Clear so far," she calls out from the airlock.
DC 20
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11 Off-Kilter
Grabs the wall to eliminate the off-kilter condition, which is a 2nd move action.
1) Xoni's movement is 30, but is reduced to 25 by her armor. In zero-G, does that penalty count? Is her zero-G move rate 15 or 10?
2) If the airlock doors are open, we should be able to see to the west, which looks like a stairway going down. Is that correct?
| AbadarCorp Entertainment |
You're in the airlock, the stairs lead to the vacuum of space (or the studio, it's not clear). I've changed the grey areas a bit, so it's a bit clearer where the vessel ends.
I don't think there's a rule that says the penalty doesn't count, so it counts
Miink
|
GRIM*! — I completely forgot about your trophies. Best to just leave your armor alone.
Miink ties herself to Xoni’s rope and tentatively pushes off the box she’s sitting on, aiming to catch the door frame or nudge up against Xoni in the airlock..
“Wheeeeee!!!”
Acrobatics for zero-g movement: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
She bounces off Xoni instead.
“Oof… sorry. This zero-g stuff looks so fun when other people do it.”
Second move to grab the wall and steady herself.
| AbadarCorp Entertainment |
There's no audible voice-over in the zero-G environment, possible to keep the contestants for getting real-time information on the enemy's position.

Ah, Xoni is first out of the gate, with Miink awkwardly following! GRIM seems to bide his time while Zarzucket catches up.

“You’re on point, Xoni. Do we clear the rooms as we go or try to take the other team head-on? I’ll stick with you…”
She tilts her head a moment.
“Stick with you… yeah, it’ll work. This will be fun!”
Miink pulls herself along the wall and climbs onto Xoni’s back.
Acrobatics for zero-g movement: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Second move to grab Xoni and steady herself.
Miink has the Scurry feat which lets her share an ally’s space without penalty for either character.
Miink points ahead. “Let’s go!”
Xoni Scarlex
|
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
Xoni launches in a straight path east down the hallway and steadies herself at the point where the passage turns north.
Two move actions.
"Clear so far. I'll keep going. Check the doors behind me to see what's there," she calls out.

Apologize, all, I'm taking some online summer classes right now and they're approaching finals, so I've been pretty drained.
Round One
Oshari starts climbing along the walls before pushing off into the airlock.
Athletics: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
Second move: steadying myself
Round Two
Oshari pushes off the wall, floating just above Miink. "Sorry, I'll be out of your way in a second." he mutters, evidently unhappy with the limitations of zero-g.

Movement in Zero-G is hard, viewers! I wonder when we'll see the first shots getting traded.

Xoni glides gracefully to the next turn in the passage and pushes off to head toward the fore of the ship.
"I see the bridge. I'd wager the flag is there."
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
Vega Capella

Agreed. Bridge or Engineering. Somewhere halfway between the two teams. That's what I'd do. Also, if we manage to capture one of the opposition, try to grab their suit comms. If we're lucky we might be able to listen in on what they're doing.
| AbadarCorp Entertainment |

Surely Xoni must be seeing that flag now, it's right there on the bridge! I wonder if the enemy team has a hunch as well... who will get there first?

Can you post actions, please? It'll get more interesting soon.
Brother GRIM*!

I've been waiting for a path to clear for GRIM*! to move. GRIM*! has to squeeze through the narrow hallways and gains the entangled condition moving at 1/2 speed and taking -2 to AC. (not good since he has the flag) I'm not sure how squeeze + zero gravity will work? Also when GRIM*! is squeezing can others move past or shoot past GRIM*!?
I made a green box on the map marking where GRIM*! could get to on round 3 using 2 move actions on rounds 2 and 3. Once everyone has moved place GRIM*! at the rear of the party.
If needed
Round 2
Athletics: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
Athletics: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16

If possible can we say that Xoni is in front of Grim, since I don't think he could squeeze past her. It would also interrupt her motion already in progress. If he can give her a push to speed her along, so much the better.
Xoni was already moving toward the passage turn so she just keeps drifting. As she gets to the corner, she lobs a Stickybomb grenade at the lead opponent.
Stickybomb Grenade vs. AC 5: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19 vs AC 5 grid intersection at bottom left of vesk enemy.
All in 10 ft radius entangled for 2d4 ⇒ (1, 3) = 4 rounds.
Brother GRIM*!
|
GRIM*!'s goal was to stay behind everyone since he has the flag and likely is blocking the passageway. The green square I made is the farthest point GRIM*! could have moved to by the end of round 3. Assuming GRIM*! is blocking the narrow passageways could GRIM*! push the rest of the party up to that point?
| AbadarCorp Entertainment |
Fine with me, just adjust your position
Miink, Oshari and Vega?
Brother GRIM*!

rounds 2, 3 and 4 GRIM*! pushes through the hallway pushing anyone willing in front of him.
Then GRIM*! tries to demoralize the vesk
"I AM GRIM*!"
Intimidate amplified: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13
Vega Capella

Vega sticks close to GRIM*! for two reasons. One - he's got the flag. Two - she's feeling squishy and he's good to hide behind.
Right now, she's just in front of him but, when she sees the Vesk ...
EEEEP! We FOUND them.
She takes a shot with the patched together merciful tactical semi auto pistol that looks like it's held together with duct tape and rubber bands before ducking through the door into the bridge.
acrobatics: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
mtsap: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23 piercing: 1d6 ⇒ 3

Vega is first at the flag. That's usually a recipe for getting splattered all over!
Well, it's her doing the splattering! That shot is brutal!
Crit: 1d6 ⇒ 1
They're not going to take that sitting down or floating around!
Reflex: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Reflex: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
[b]That's a sticky situation Rafelo finds himself in! Imagine being glued down in zero gravity! He's not going anywhere!
Shon is taking a shot at Vega! He can't be happy she has the flag!
Don't let'em get that flag! A voice shouts - it's not the commentary, but Rafelo trying to encourage his teammates
bruiser decoupler: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 6 + 1 = 191d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
And Rafelo is sniping at Grim! the commentary resumes
Azi laser, Grim: 1d20 + 6 - 2 ⇒ (17) + 6 - 2 = 211d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Oh, look at at that! It's Tillik! He must have taken the back route!
Subzero hail pistol, Xoni: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 201d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
And Verity is just jetting by, and it looks like the two team are tied for the flag!
