Orion shields himself as he sends powerful healing Ameli's way. Glitter fills the air as Gwendolyn attempts to charm the lion. It shakes its head as its breain becomes muddles but still looks at Gwendolyn in anger.

Tai Fung sends an aerial boomerang shredding through the ground underneath the lions. It opens a few more scratches as a small electrical shock angers the lion further.

The two smaller lions leap forth onto the field circling you as they look quite hungry. As one of the Lions closes in Gilgamesh punches it right in the face a couple of ties, breaking several fangs loose.

Wait... Didn't I learn my lesson after almost dying while playing a monk against lions with Tyranius as the GM??

Ameli staggers back to her feet, grabbing her sword and stumbling off to hopefully not be pinned between a pair of lions.

Maneki retreats firing arrows across her path in case in lions give chase. One of the arrows sticks inot the lions paw as it pulls it free from the ground, breaking the shaft apart. Gilgamesh slows the lion down further as he punches it in the side of the head, giving Aeli a moent to stand and gather her weapons.

The larger wounded lion pounces onto Gwendolyn and Tai Fung as they are quickly cut off from the rest of their companions.

Gwen's eyes flash in anger and then surprise as the lion grabs her. She tries to pull away, but succeeds in getting her scarf pulled off. Heavy scars show all around her neck and the petite woman snarls at the lion holding her. "Fine! We'll do this the hard way!" Lightning arcs out around her, hitting both the lions nearby.

As one of the lions leaps and bites Maneki Orion hears a small thud from behnd. Turning he doens't see anything but feels the sharp bite of a kukri cut into his ribs. pale, middle-aged Taldan man with a gloomy countenance and dark clothing that looks practical but expensive. He has a cold and calculating look to his piercing amber eyes. His voice is surprisingly soft, though there is no hint of kindness to it. "Soon my little business venture wil reach far beyond Oppara!"

aneki gives the lion a small bruise as she runs from its grasp. The man quickly leans back avoiding Gilgameshes flurry as he sweeps his kukri at the half-orcs abdomen.

Gwen doesn't even seem to register her good fortune that she was dropped. The beauty of her face is gone as it's replaced by a rageful hunger. Fire engulfs her hand and she plunges it right at the lion who gave her up. The scarring on her neck throbs and she hisses at the lion through pointed teeth.

Gwen pulls her hand free of the lion. She laughs sweetly at the sight of blood dripping to the floor. She cocks her head towards the man who stabbed Orion. "Are you the mysterious organizer? We should thank you properly for all our fun and games today!" Then her hungry look return and lightning blasts out to him and the lion.

He clenches his fists, drawing even more ambient electricity from the air then before while letting the winds around him gust him closer to the lion, putting himself between it and his allies.

She quickly took advantage of the opening provided by two of the lions dropping to run back to where she had fallen before, grabbing the bottle from the ground and pouring the contents over her weapon!

Maneki, Gilgamesh and Orion completely surround the Taldan man as theyserve their own counterattack. Maneki swats the flat of her arms and elbows into the man, knocking the wind from his lungs giving her a moment to help Orion back to his feet.

Gilgamesh knocks the man out as he punches him in the jaw. Ameli takes a quick breath and applies a magical oil to her weapons blade.

Orion's darts take the lion down as they riddle through its ribs.

The jousting grounds are suddenly quiet, save for the distant yowl of dogs in the distance. The Taldan man whispers "But you were supposed to die?" before losing consciousness once more.

You have a few moments to look around the grounds for evidence about the Taldan nobles who are connected to the illegal tournaments. Give me a Perception check.

Vionnia shows back up a few moments later, looking crestfallen and frightened. "I'm so sorry. I thought Archis might want to speak with you since you did so well in the first few melees, not try to kill you!" She begins to sob and her tears seem real.

Gwen giggles and kneels down to the man, her hand still covered in charred lion blood. "Oh, but that was fun! We should play again sometime." After he slumps unconscious, she kisses his forehead, leaving a bloodstained imprint on his skin.

The petite girl bounces up and looks around. "Everyone have all their pieces?"

Your team spreads out to check out the tournament ground while bandages are applied.

Gwen looks in the royal stand and finds an invisibility potion hidden in a concealed compartment.

Maneki checks out the northern tent, which is bedecked in purple and gold, is lit by a lantern and contains a chair stained with blood and surrounded by several scattered ropes. Next to the central supporting pole is a hefty bag that contains an assortment of personal items collected from the captives and a type I spellstrike arrow.

Gwen next heads for the blue and gold southern tend, where she finds a foldable desk and a comfortable bench. There are writing tools and several letters on the desk. The letters are signed by one 'Archis Peers.' These letters provide evidence of Archis’ connection to several nobles in relation to the illegal tournaments. Next to the desk is a small chest that contains some of the gold apparently meant to fund the tournament. Gwen finds a ledger hidden in the lining of the bench that provides details about Archis’ other illicit ventures. The ledger should work as leverage when the time comes for the Society to further investigate his affairs.

The ledgers detail that Archis is apparently connected to a group called the 'Ninth Army', a secretive group opposed to Taldor’s new monarch Grand Princess Eutropia. Archis apparently uses the melees and battles as a recruiting ground for skilled fighters for the organization. The ledgers have blackmail material as well as contacts for several Taldan nobles. The Society and Lady Gloriana Morilla, who is a close personal friend of Grand Princess Eutropia, as well as a stronger supporter of her, would be particularly interested in this information.

"Let's collect all of theses evidences and present it to the venture-captain." Gilgamesh begins collecting all that he can carry.

He then comforts Vionna, "Don't worry, the Society will handle this and see to it that your hands are clean on this matter."

"If anyone wants healing, I am here to help." he tells his allies.

Gwen dusts herself off from crawling around on the stands and reties her scarf around her neck. She suddenly looks aghast. "Oh my hair must look horrible!" She pulls out her mirror and gives a small shriek as she sees herself. She begins trying to fix her appearance.

"Vionna, do you know anything else about this Ninth Army?"

Vionna shakes her head. "No, not at all." She quickly explains her situation to you. "It makes much more sense now that you have found these documents."

The scion of a minor noble house in Oppara, Vionnia fell in with Archis Peers after the recent war, hoping to earn money to care for her ailing father and young sister. Archis has started to test Vionnia with increasingly compromising tasks, hoping to soon bring her under his control for good. Vionnia’s connection to Archis provides her some semblance of protection on the streets, as long as she stays on his good side.

She wipes her brow. "I will aid you however I can to bring this to light."

Once in town you present yourselves to Venture-Captain Muesello, who listens intently and only interrupts to ask terse, relevant questions. Vionnia stays quiet and seems shocked to find out you were with the Pathfinder Society, but is very ready to help in any way she can. Muesello lets out a rare smile and congratulates you on a job well done. "With these documents and your friend's help, I think we can learn a great deal about this 'Ninth Army' business. Well done, Pathfinders." To top it off, he returns any wayfinders you turned over before the mission, cleaned and polished to pristine condition.

"Well good. Now that we're finished, I think I need a bath." Gwen wrinkles her nose and looks down at her bloodstained clothes. She had washed her arm, but there were still spots of dried lion's blood on her face and neck. And her hair is still a mess.

"Oh, Maneki! We can go dress shopping afterwards! I bet we can get you some fabulous outfits!"

Maneki looks at her clothing. "I'll bet you could, though I wonder if we could find something that I could use in combat as well... You know, I gotta look good after all!"

"I wonder what Jinlong would say about all this..."
