Fung hangs back a bit to see how the battle progresses. Certain that his party has things under control, he nods to Gilgamesh as he dashes forward towards to the trap directly in front of him.

Tai Fung slips forward and trips the mechnical jaws trap with a nearby stone. Gilgamesh readies himself for anymore trappers coming through hidden doors.

Ameli knocks out another trapper as Gwendolyn sends an electrical shock out towards the remaining pair.

As one of the trappers moves agains Gilgamesh, the monk quickly smashes his head against the doorframe, knocking him unconscious.

Scared, wounded, and not standing much of a chance the remaining mercenaries toss down their shrtswords. "You said that wizard was going to help turn the tournaments in our favor!"

The crowd goes absolutely wild! There's howls of support and jeers at the losing team as bets exchange hands and backs are slapped. A couple medics rush to check on the downed mercenaries and despite requiring a lot of potions and bandages, all of them are able to limp away, the wizard looking particularly dazed as he keeps waving back to catch you attention in a far more friendly manner.

You spot a hooded figure speaking with Vionnia, who is clearly not the child from the other battle. Vionnia looks momentarily shocked, then covers it by brushing her hand through her hair and nodding. The figure then disappears into the crowd. Before you see much more, the crowd fills in and soon Vionnia is walking toward you with a smile and a purse. "Excellent job! Great show and lots of crowd-play! Well done! Now, are you ready for the big league?"

As you begin to walk away toward the "Big Leagues", Vionnia seems in a strange mood. She's talkative, but troubled.

Orion and Gilgamesh speak with Vionna about what the hooded figure said to trouble her. "Seems the location changed for the next fight. It is outside of the city gates in the jousting grounds." She seems to recover her composure. They feel like a little deception or intimidation may provide a bit more information on her end. Last 2 Influence Skills unlocked and +1 Influence

Tai Fung isn't able to figure much out but Gwendolyn gets a little closer.

Vionnia looks at Gwendolyn with a degree of trepidation. "My employer... prefers that the fighters not be warned before the match. He.. I mean, they feel it's a better show if everyone is as surprised as the spectators." Her face and demeanor betrays that she feels that she gave something away with her comments. However she also seems conflicted - she seems genuinely fond of you and wishes you well, but at the same time she's genuinely afraid of her employer.

As you walk, Vionnia leads you through the market district of Lionsgate, where produce sellers are packing up their stalls after a day of sales to return to their homes outside the gates. At the main gates, Vionnia and your party fall in with the afternoon traffic leaving the city. Vionnia nods at one of the guards, who nods back and pays no further attention to the group. As Vionnia and your party leave Oppara behind them, one of the gate’s two 50-foot-tall, magically animated marble lions rises up to let out a mighty roar before returning to its lounging atop the gate. Vionnia leads you northwest alongside the canal, toward the Jousting Grounds.

Vionnia looks like she's about to say something about her boss, but demurs. "He's, well, he's my ticket to a better life for my family, ok? We took a hit during the Civil War, and now it's up to me to get allies where I can. A high-born type with connections, right? He can do that. I mean, he says he can..." she trails off, clearly unsure.

Vionnia leads you alongside a canal until a disused jousting ground comes into view nestled on a cliffside overlooking a small cove. You can see stairs leading down to cove and a small dock there. The tournament grounds themselves consist of an archery range, melee arena, jousting lane, and stands for the common people. On the cliff side, a crumbling gazebo built from white stone serves as an entrance to the staircase. Within the gazebo, a few stone benches offer a place to take in the view of the river.

The jousting grounds are dimly lit by the setting sun, with rusted iron chains and spikes cordoning off the melee arena from the rest of the grounds. The hooded lanterns cast an area of bright light over the entire melee arena and 5 feet surrounding it. On the western side, there are some large cages covered with red canvas. The audience stand is 10 feet high, while the royal stand’s fence is 3 feet high. Other than the cliff side to the west, the fields continue in all other directions for several hundred yards.

A partly overgrown earthen path leads towards lights and structures on a field in the distance. At the last stretch, the path straightens and becomes flanked by rows of tall, leafy trees. From a cliff side overlooking the Porthmos river, the setting sun paints the nearby stands, tents, and crates in an orange glow. Vionnia leads you toward the melee arena, but she whispers in a low voice, "Don't run off. We're supposed to wait here. But... something feels wrong tonight. It's, well, it's not normal for me to be asked to bring anyone here during the tournament. My employer, he's a dangerous man, prone to violence. He keeps a stash of invisibility potions in the royal stand so he could be anywhere, watching. Beware." She smiles and turns to leave.

In addition, you can make ONE skill check as you look around to Recall Knowledge that might be of use. The skills are: Gladiator Lore, Nature, Perception and Survival. Let me know which you want me to roll in secret.

All the while one hand retrieved a small vial of gleaming oil from her waist pouch, while the other rested on the sword at her hip, ready to draw if trouble leapt at them.

A soft but malicious voice spreads throughout the jousting grounds, “I wonder what path lead you here, dear guests? A pack of mice looking to sniff around when the lion is out of the castle? Hah, I think not. Poor little mice, the mouse trap has sprung!”

The cage doors clang loudly against the iron spikes and chains as they clatter to the ground. A ferocious roar shakes the arena as a trio of lions emerge from the cages to the west.

Maneki quickly drops inot a combat stance as the lions leap forth from their cages. She fires off a pair of arrows into the lead lions chest. It roars in defiance as trace amounts of blood trickle down from the wound.

Gilgamesh readies himself as the wounded lion leaps across the field in a few short strides, swatting a powerful claw at Ameli.
