Scrapeknee nods to Cailyn "I'll let you guide me on the etiquette."

He actually smiles at Willie's University challenge, the man is so over the top it is hard not to like him at times "Clearly, cultures vary. To be fair, this is mostly second hand knowledge from my Uncles but yes, it varies from quah to quah...err tribe to tribe."

"I can't say I've ever been hunting, really, but I think it would be good to go," Lita pipes up from over the edge of her drink. "I'd like to get a better idea of him as a person, maybe see if a little time with him will improve that first impression."

She can't keep herself from chuckling at Willie's story. "The other Turandarok kids had something like that. The Headmaster's basement has this whole collection of old magic trinkets from his adventuring days, they said sneaking in was a kind of rite of passage." She pauses, takes another sip. "'Course, now I think they might have just been hazing me."

This sentiment - so foreign to the gent - managed to draw his attention away from Ameiko up on the stage. "Really?" The animated brow gave a vigorous spring. "Huh. At university, all the chaps had me do was run through the Language Department with a cherry between my cheeks. It's a funny old world, what?"

At this Dare looks utterly perplexed. Clearly toffs dwelled on an entirely different plane. "Why would you--? Ah never mind. Silly me. I thought what people did at the university is study." She pauses again. "... which cheeks? No, don't tell me. Don't want to know."

As Lita mentions hazing, Dare nods. "Ah. You think Duke Creepypants is testing us?"

Part of Conrad wants to believe that Willie means his mouth. Another, more level-headed part, knows, with rock-hard certainty, that he doesn't.

And apparently everyone has had some 'rite of passage' of some sort. He wonders if that makes him weird if he didn't have one. Unless that one thing in a barn with the blacksmith's son counts. Or maybe the first time he punched a dude for money?

Neither memories are things he'd like to share at any table, though - for entirely different reasons.

He meets the half-elf's eager gaze, and sighs. [b]"Sure," he says reluctantly. He takes another, longer sip from his beer.

"No, I don't think so, don't think he'd want to be there with us if that was it. This strikes me as someone wanting to get to know us, maybe thinks danger is a good way to bond, or thinks we can get a good trophy from it, bring back some glory."

She's quiet for another beat, then raises her glass for another sip, in part to hide the corner of her mouth tugging upward into a half-smile.

"Willie's school mates, though? Definitely taking the piss."

"Excellent!" Cailyn exclaims as several of the heroes of the story declare their acceptance of the quest to slay the mighty swine... yes the acceptance was rather reluctant, but if someone did mark this as a Moment, that part could be edited out.

Her mind did quickly shut out any conversation about cheeks, instead she caressers the cover of her book as she considers the best way to spend those next three days, but then looks around "Are there any other threads to pull? Motives for the goblin raids, how they were helped over the wall, and who would have directed them to the tomb, and the underworld connections to it all?"

While her ever burning desire to read is pulling her to comfortable solitude, her desire to KNOW for the story is unfolding burns bright enough to compete.

"Or assess how much of a threat we could be..." Dare, ever the optimist, muses. "Anyway, looks like we're going, then."

"Well, Conrad and me didn't learn much at the Feedbag other than Jubrayl's less of a businessman as I thought, and more of a lolling buck fitch. And everyone else at the Feedbag was still hungover at lunchtime from some post-Festival revelry so no one was in a state to chat with... and to be frank, he was being all skeevy, and I just wanted to get the hell out of there." She looks into the middle distance with a scowl, picturing a scene she doesn't want to be picturing. "Anyway, I told him I wasn't going to be hanging with Joanna and Tera and that was that. I'm not talking to him again." She opts not to bring up what she saw as Conrad's badass moment of telling him off, as he seemed to be embarrassed by it. "But they all seem to be too useless to be an immediate threat anyway, and I think we should bark up some other trees.

"So what happened at the Curious Goblin?"

She also mentions, when at an appropriate juncture, and if there are no further obvious leads, "Ameiko mentioned the gobbos come from a marsh near here. If we can't come up with anything else to do in the next three days, we could visit them and have a nice chat." A spark flies upward from her finger and lands in her beer.
