The Mighty Trer
Sorry folks! Things have been a little bit hectic around here recent-like. Give me a little bit to get my ducks in a row, and I should be able to catch up pretty quickly! Thank you for your patience!
GMDQ
No worries Trer. Indeed time has gotten away from me today so I will updatw tomorrow. Sorry for the wait!!
GMDQ
Once we leave the discussions, how much do you want to roleplay and how much do you want to timeskip/summarize?
Ariston
I'm fine with time-skipping where possible and could vary based on what folks are doing. Realistically, Ariston's job is unglamourous: I go to a location, Channel blast or cast a Mass healing spell, rinse and repeat, and then head to another location.
But Trer lifting half a building might be fun to see once. :)
Krowys
I'm all for seeing Trer lift a building once as well. Will try to get a reply up sometime today or tomorrow.
Krowys
Nothingburger posted. Have a session to prepare for, so I decided to make my post relatively brief.
Lazur Anil
I am heading out of town tomorrow March 28 and the plan is to be back on Monday April 1st. I will be able to read posts but don't expect me to post anything that requires formatting as I only have my phone.
GMDQ
Thanks for the heads up.
I'll be busy with family stuff this weekend and then the following weekend traveling so I'll be a bit slow.
After the emergency response stuff, I want to go into your stronghold stuff and then we can go into a new adventure. I'm going to probably stick to things that will draw you into planar stuff, there is the option of the volcano search if you want to stay Primeside. (And if you choose "none of the above" and come up with your own thing, I will follow where the PCs go.)
GMDQ
Good to know, I can get planning on that. Or at least narrowing down what I plan to wing. ;)
While that will be Primeside (probably going into the Hrifgard, which is the local underdark), who knows here else it may lead?
GMDQ
Having some hopefully temporary computer woes--my laptop keyboard decides to not work properly, which started right as I tried to update the game. ;p Hard to type all I want via phone or touchpad so will check in tomorrow a.m.
Mirabelle aka Mira the Obscure
Oh dear. Consider this another vote for hoard hunting.
The Mighty Trer
Riches! Adventure! Chances to show off! All things Trer likes.
GMDQ
When I next decided to post the server was down. Joy! Will try to get something up later today
Krowys
Don't worry, had the same thing happen to me with my Iron Gods campaign and lost all my progress on the post.
GMDQ
Forgive me: as we go toward downtime, I want to double check: do you want to use GP values for building stuff? I need a more committed answer so I can redetermine that reward.
GMDQ
Weird, I feel like some posts just disappeared. Or I'm hallucinating.
Anyway: I just bought a car yesterday, am visiting family this week, need to do taxes, and get a new refrigerator. Oh and I'm traveling out of town soon. So I will be slow for the coming week.
Ariston
Yowza! Good luck with all that!
I'm good with using cash for Downtime construction.
Mirabelle aka Mira the Obscure
I am also OK with that. Gives us something to spend cash on rather than just a bunch of stat books.
GMDQ
Okay, Krowys, look forward to it.
Okay, so gp value for building it is. So Orteza gives you 5,750 gp toward building whatever you wish. This is inclusive, obviously, of hiring costs for labor, etc. This can only be used toward building (he's not actually handing you cash, but organizing sending you building materials, laborers, etc. and the gp is just an extraction). You can of course spend your own gold on purchasing stuff for building.
You can build room by room using the Rooms and Teams rules, or use the Buildings and Organizations section to get pre-built structures. And of course you can pick a building to start with and then add rooms to them--you could, for example, start with the "caster's tower" entry and add additional bedrooms or a chapel or defensive walls, etc.
All Downtime rules are here: https://legacy.aonprd.com/ultimateCampaign/downtime.html
Rooms and Teams: https://legacy.aonprd.com/ultimateCampaign/downtime/roomsAndTeams.html
Buildings and Organizations: https://legacy.aonprd.com/ultimateCampaign/downtime/buildingsAndOrganizatio ns.html
Conversion rates for Goods/Labor/Etc to GP (but the calculation is already provided in the entries on the previously listed pages): https://legacy.aonprd.com/ultimateCampaign/downtime.html#table-capital-valu es
Would you like these links under the campaign tab and/or the reference slides?
Mirabelle aka Mira the Obscure
Yes, having the links somewhere we can easily get to them would be helpful. I havent looked through the rules yet but to what extent can magic shortcut costs? We have multiple people able to cast, for example, numerous wall of stone spells every day. Likewise stone shape and stuff like fabricate.
Ariston
Ariston's plans and possible bonus feats that need GM approval...
After the crisis is over, I'm going to retrain Combat Casting to Alignment Channel.
For a bonus feat, these are the ones that most interest me, in relative order. Where they have solid combat uses, I've noted them.
Divine Interference – IMMED action, sacrifice a spell to make an enemy reroll an attack that hit an ally, 1xday per person [Defensive Combat Ability]
Divine Protection – 1xday, IMMED action, add CHA bonus to one save
Heavenly Radiance -- +1 use of Daylight and gain a Spell-Like Ability [some SLA's provide Offensive Combat Spells]
Wanderer’s Fortune – SWIFT to get Freedom of Movement for a turn. 3x day
Channeled Revival – Use 3 channels to do Breath of Life (restore a dead creature to life)
Devil Sense – sense evil outsiders within 60’
Healer's Hands – Make DC:30 Heal Roll (+16) , no kit, Add ranks in K:Planes ranks (11 to DAM healed)
Improved Channel – Raise the DC to 26 [Offensive Combat Ability]
Purifying Channel – Channel to heal, one excluded enemy takes fire damage = to the roll [Slight Offensive Combat Ability]
Skill Focus -- +3/+6

For ease of use, I am going to say that it doesn't cut the cost of construction, but we can waive upkeep and repair costs. This is not to be punishing, but to avoid paperwork. Is that okay?
ETA: Also, I am assuming a lot of the construction will occur while you are off adventuring, so you wouldn't be there to contribute the magic.

That's fine.

I've deleted the ones that would not be applicable to the free flavor feat. Any of the following are good:
Heavenly Radiance -- +1 use of Daylight and gain a Spell-Like Ability [some SLA's provide Offensive Combat Spells] Fine if the SLA is skill or movement related, like Monkeyfish
Devil Sense – sense evil outsiders within 60’
Healer's Hands – Make DC:30 Heal Roll (+16) , no kit, Add ranks in K:Planes ranks (11 to DAM healed)
Skill Focus -- +3/+6

Actually traveling for really real starting tomorrow, but this should hopefully coincide with figuring out your downtime plans.
I am finishing up a map of the land for your stronghold to be built on; it's a 500x500 foot area, but of course part of it is occupied by the lake and waterfalls (but of course you can build into the water, etc.). You may want to discuss what shape you want it to take--a yurt? A fortress? A mansion? A tower?
Mirabelle aka Mira the Obscure
As far as bonus feat, how about Amateur Investigator or Ironclad Logic? If the latter she would look to retrain her Skill Focus (Diplomacy) to a different Skill Focus.
Any issues with either of these options for my bonus feat?

Thematically, no. I am a little concerned Amateur Investigator might step on Lazur's toes, though.
Ironclad Logic, I wasn't necessarily planning on using the verbal duel rules so you might not get its full functionality, but it is fine--and if y'all are interested in using those rules we can explore it.
The Mighty Trer
Started working at Target last week, and I am super tired! Lotta lifting and restocking, to say nothing of the walk to work and back! A bit tired, but I'll see if I can find a bonus feat I think works well for Trer.
Lazur Anil

Don't worry about me. I'm ok with it. I have built Lazur to get inspiration on as many rolls as possible without spending any. A little insight here and there for the others won't make me feel less. I'm just rubbing off on them.
The Mighty Trer
Oh man, I would kill for Trer's strength! Maybe then I wouldn't have dropped a can of beans on my foot, and now I can't walk proper-like!
The Mighty Trer
If anyone has a bonus feat recommendation, I'd love to hear it
GMDQ
I'm stuck with my phone right now but in addition to various skill boost feats, these could be interesting:
https://www.aonprd.com/FeatDisplay.aspx?ItemName=Arcane%20Talent (as long as the 0 level spell is a utility spell)
https://www.aonprd.com/FeatDisplay.aspx?ItemName=Firesight
The latter is supposed to be restricted to Ifrits, but since you've got Efreeti blood class abilities I feel like that is an acceptable alternative for meeting the prereq.
Mirabelle aka Mira the Obscure
I have gone with amateur investigator given Lazur is OK with it.
Krowys
Ready to go hoard hunting, sorry for the nothing burger. As for feats? I think Skill Focus (Knowledge Planes) would be alright, if it's alright with you? Sorry for the lackluster post, as I thought I already had something.
GMDQ
All of your posts are fine, Krowys. What I appreciate is folks posting at all and checking in.
Speaking of which I am back from my travels.
Before we move on to hoard hunting, I'd like to get a better sense of your building plans for your stronghold. The idea is this will get started and be ongoing while you are planning.
I know some folks like these kind of rules better than others, and I can help translate desires into the mechanical results. But I at least want to know things like:
"I would like some defensive walls and a bedroom of my own."
Or "we should have a shrine to the Empyreal Lord of RPGs."
Or of course it can be more specific, like, "let's use the Mansion Building in the Downtime rules and add to it an Alchemy Lab, Magical Repository, Sanctum, Scriptorium, Dojo, and additional Bedroom."
Ariston
Ariston's needs and wants are pretty simple...
It could be a single building or a compound with outbuildings for the different heroes. Either works for him.
He'd like a Bedroom with a private Lavatory and possibly a Bath.
It would be cool to have a gazebo on the edge of the falls for the views.
He wouldn't mind (but could live without) a small chapel to the Gods. It doesn't have to be Varan-specific.
And a shared Kitchen and Commons would be nice.
Lazur Anil
I was thinking we start with a wizards tower and build from there. Maybe it overlooks the falls and we add walls and other towers and a keep as time goes by. We all get rooms and add things as time goes by. Workers quarters would be good as well. Especially if the oreads we save want to work for us.
My 2 cents.
Mirabelle aka Mira the Obscure
I have an incoming post about our new home.
GMDQ
I've added a new slide to the game references, which shows the location where you can build. Your owned land may be slightly larger, but this is the main area. I figure you'd likely build on the top lefthand side but of course you could build a floating building in the lake or what have you.
The cave out of which the river comes is very low ceiling and not as-is suitable for dwelling but of course with things like stone shape anything is possible.
It's not a great map but hopefully gives you a sense of place. I'll add the stronghold as time goes on. Let me know if you have any questions. I can produce a version with a grid if that is helpful, but it makes the map look a bit cluttery.
Mira of course I drew this before you posted, but your secret room could be in the extant cave or you can dig a new one. Since she is exploring the area, I am glad I got it finished!
The Mighty Trer
Trer wants a flop room, she's not big on permanent housing.

Trophy room for giant monster parts? ;)
