"What if I open the doors and you have your staff ready? That way if something staggers out at me, I have you to back me up, which is a much more comforting thought than if you open the doors and only have me to back you up?" Nikola offers. Her heart is racing, she can taste bile in her throat, she doesn't want to die here. But she has to help, even Ujio has more of a life ahead of him than she does. "Open, bash, scan, rinse repeat?"

Kenzo slumps slightly at the sight of two people who are not trying to kill everyone they see. He says, "I have not been attacked yet. I was alone when everyone went crazy. I have not seen anyone else, but I can help you find others if you are willing to risk...whatever...this is." Kenzo says. He looks past them and says, "I have a bat in my locker. Let me grab that and I will be ready to go find others."

Kenzo will try and move quickly past to get to his locker.

The metallic hollow male voice returns, "Hallway and stairwell cameras are working in optimal range and ability. Classroom cameras are deactivated due to the lock down. I can see in some of them through computers... There is Professor Adrian's class which have barricaded themselves in. No more signs of infected in the pathways. Student and staff population infected.... is at 68%."

Kenzo easily moves al9ng to his locker and with his trusty bat in hand follows the duo.

Lifting an eyebrow as Nikola refers to his mop-handle as a staff Ujio realized that it would certainly seem like one. He nods at the idea of her opening the doors. Pleased that the young man was sound in mind and body, he nodded as the student went to get his 'bat.' Looking back as Nikola as the boy passed, he asks, "Do you know him? I am not able to recall his name."

Once the athlete returned, Ujio nods, "Nikola's idea is she opens the doors, and we stand ready."

As the I.D.A. explains that people have barricaded themselves in Professor Adrian's class. Pausing for a moment, he considers the professors and realizes Adrian was the big American, but he didn't remember where his classroom was. Hoping they can keep the keep the other 32% safe, he looks at the two students, "Do Either of you know where Professor Adrians room is?"

As he asks the question he gestures at the first door to the left, turning to Nikola, shifting the mop handle in his hands. "Shall we?"

I'm ok if the AI wants to tell us where the classroom is as well.

Kenzo looks at the others and says, "I will keep one of these dumb bells, but if someone else would like the other they are welcome to it." Kenzo then holds his bat in his right hand and the dumb bell in his left and follows after to stand by the door before they open it.

As if by reading your mind or just hearing your words it offers, "Professor Adrians room is on the third floor. Likely the safest place in the building. His class was the only one in session in this building and being on the third floor has many advantages."

HP:12|BaB:1|AC: T: FF:|Fort:-2 Ref:0 Will:5|Init:0

"Hagetoro or something, I think," Nikola says to Ujio.

"How much of the remaining 32% do they constitute?" she asks, as she readies herself to fling a door open.

Nodding his head he repeated the name after Nikola, "Hagetoro."

Turning as the boy rejoined them, he lifts an eyebrow as the young man offers a 'dumbbell.' Lifting his mop handle he considers it. The mop handle, without the mop head, felt very much like the bo-staffs he'd practiced with as a child. Looking back up at Kenzo he smiles, attempting to be light. "The mop has served me well this last year, I shall keep it."

Surprised the AI picked up on his question, he lifted the radio to listen. As the girl spoke up he turned it, so it was directed at Nikola's question. Wondering as he did so if the AI would respond to someone else's question or to only the person it was 'keyed' to.

He does answer Nikola's question, The infected are those have died from blood loss before the virus hijacks their system and acts as a stimulant to the blind sound sensitive unliving. WHO says that there is no cure for those who have 'transformed'."

Not entirely sure what the AI meant about the infected, Ujio made a mental note to ask it to inform the nurse when they returned to the medical station. Not really sure why the third floor was the safest place, he'd assumed they'd want to stay near exits. Furrowing his brow, he asked the other two, "Shall we check on the students first, or make sure the building is safe before we let them out of the classroom?"

HP:12|BaB:1|AC: T: FF:|Fort:-2 Ref:0 Will:5|Init:0

"Building safety first, I should think. Wouldn't do to have them die because we forgot to check the storage closets."

As you walk down the hallway it is eerily quiet. The commons area seems the same way.

Nodding in agreement with Nikola, "Let us at least make sure the passageway to the nurses quarters are safe." Gesturing at the first door on the western wall, Ujio holds his mop handle at the ready, waiting for Nikola to open it.

HP:12|BaB:1|AC: T: FF:|Fort:-2 Ref:0 Will:5|Init:0

Nikola bites her lip, and then throws the door open. She reels back, not just to get out of the way, but because the activity hurt. Wincing, she looks into the room. Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10

1 person marked this as a favorite.

You don't hear anything, the door gets unlocked and opened relatively quick. Within you see no movement and no signs of struggle. The next two classrooms are the same. Almost giving a false sense of security...

Nikola Vujičić wrote:
"Building safety first, I should think. Wouldn't do to have them die because we forgot to check the storage closets."

Taking Nikola's recommendation to heart, Ujio moves back towards the common area and the first counselor's door. As they move, confused about something the AI had said, he holds the radio up asking, "I.D.A. Could you explain what you said about the infected and the virus hijacking their system?"

Hooking the radio to his belt, he moves in front of the counselor's door, listening at the door carefully. Once Kenzo and Nikola are in place he tightens his grip on the mop handle, nodding to Nikola.

Taking 10(16) on perception. Do any of the doors have glass windows in them?

"Yes I have access to many informational systems. The virus seems to infect the host. One of the main systems attacked are the ocular nerves and respitory system. The most common symptoms are clouding of the eyes and coughing up blood.
Just after the host has died from blood loss, the virus hijacks their system and acts as a stimulant to the blind sound sensitive unliving. WHO says that there is no cure for those who have 'transformed'.
Was there something specific you wanted explained?

No most doors don't have windows for security or if they do they are grayed out.

Another room clear with no sign of movement, do you go in and check out the whole room?

HP:12|BaB:1|AC: T: FF:|Fort:-2 Ref:0 Will:5|Init:0

I'll go in and check. I'll get monched by a zombo now if it means not getting jumped by one that hid in a closet later.

Nikola walks into the room gingerly...
Perception DC 15: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Seeing splatters of blood here and there, also in the leather roller chair she may act before as she hears movement below the table.

Same DC for Kenzo and Ujio to act in surprise round.

perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7

Realizing the girl was heading into the office, Ujio nods to Kenzo and stepping through the door he keeps pace with her. Distracted by the radio's AI as he asks, "Have the found a cure for the infection to administer before it kills the host? OH, and what does the acronym WHO stand for?"

World Health Organization, no cure has been found yet. As the virus spreads the number of researchers will decline. 93.7% of people infected have either died or been affected by the virus. A sample of your blood would be appreciated at one of the labs, the nurse should be able to help you with it. Also if you get to the R&D sub basement 4, I can equip you with advanced technology which will help me monitor your health. Those on sub basement 2 and 3 are all transformed.

HP:12|BaB:1|AC: T: FF:|Fort:-2 Ref:0 Will:5|Init:0

"Mr. Yutani! Get out of the way!" Nikola will push the distracted Ujio out of harm's way from whatever might be under the table.

CMB: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0

Nikola slams into the brick wall that is Ujio.

Wow what is up with the roller that is two '1's' in a row!

At the sound you hear a groan and snarl come from below the table. The man crawls out from under the table and looks like he is about to pounce.

Nikola picks herself up off the ground shaking off the sheer impact of ramming into Ujio. "While he's down on the ground! Use the pole like a spear! Drive it through them!" Combat advice to give Ujio a +2 to hit, and I'll move slightly out of danger.

Turning as the girl said his name and bumped into him Ujio stopped talking with the AI long enough to realize the counselor had not left his office. Nodding his head in agreement with Nikola, he sighs, walking nearer to the desk, swinging the mop handle at the man as he crawled out from under the table.

move action, however far it is, attack Mop (catch off guard: treating it as a quarterstaff?) power attack, combat advice
AoO: 1d20 + 4 - 1 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 4 - 1 + 2 = 13 for damage: 1d6 + 4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 3 = 10

Round 1

Yes treat it as a quarterstaff.
Ujio swings and misses as the school counselor gets up and tries to scratch and bite...
scratch/CMB: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6 Nope!
free bite if CMB hits: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21

free bite if CMB hits: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Can Kenzo still take his round one actions, or did he delay and needs to take round 2?
Round 2
Misjudging his blow, Ujio swings the mop handle over the 'counselor's' head. As the sick man stands and tries to scratch and bite him, Ujio's eyes widen, telling his companion. "Boy get to the other side of the Counselor, use that bat of yours!" He then shifts his feet, preparing to attack the counselor again, But he slips on the vomit on the floor, almost loosing his footing.

Round 1

"What could have caused such madness!" Kenzo says as he looks for an opening.

Round 2

Kenzo moves in and uses the dumb bell to ward off the enraged counselor before swinging with his bat!

I can use the dumb bell as an improvised shield to give me the AC 14.

Bat-PA: 1d20 + 6 - 1 ⇒ (16) + 6 - 1 = 21

Bat Damage: 1d6 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 3 + 2 = 6

Ujio you failed to observe the threat in order to act in surprise round. So I took your actions as Round 1 Actions, as we have it clearly stated for Round 2. Ah yes Kenzo could try throwing his dumbell or shove his way into the room to get into melee. He can still take actions in Round 1 if he wants.

Yes Ujio take your round 3 actions.
Sure Kenzo!

Round 2
Kenzo swings his bat one handed and it slams into the counselor's arm. Apparently a crippled arm means nothing to them.

Round 3

scratch/CMB: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12 Nope!
free bite if CMB hits: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14

damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

I have post 129 as ujio's 1st round, so I think we're good. I guess the question is, since you've got through round 4 posted, should we post up through round 5, since we won initiative? Or should we wait for the other players to catch up?

Raising as eyebrow as the ball bat does no apparent damage to the infected man, Ujio dodges the counselors attaempts to claw at him, shfting the mop handle he strikes the the sick mans, legs and then his chest.

Round 3
attack Mop/quarterstaff?, power attack
attack: 1d20 + 4 - 1 ⇒ (14) + 4 - 1 = 17 for damage: 1d6 + 4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 3 = 10

Round 4
attack Mop/quarterstaff?, power attack
attack: 1d20 + 4 - 1 ⇒ (15) + 4 - 1 = 18 for damage: 1d6 + 4 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 3 = 12

Can Ujio tell if the mop handle is doing as much damage as he thinks a staff should to a normal human? IE. can he tell if the zombies have DR? Seriously thinking about getting the fire axes :)

HP:12|BaB:1|AC: T: FF:|Fort:-2 Ref:0 Will:5|Init:0

I mean, I don't do much in combat other than give combat advice to both other party members through move actions. And from those most recent rolls, you've probably got the zombie on the ropes/

Zombies don't have their DR yet!

The mop/quarterstaff did smash into the counselor's arm and it is limply hanging there. You may have dislocated it. With two more definitive strikes the counselor drops to the ground.

Double tap anyone? Out of Combat.
To answer your question yes, since you beat it on init and its actions are posted you could post for any catchup posts and the next round. :)

AS the counselor goes down, Ujio turns to the boy with the bat, nodding politely, "Well done Kenzo." Furrowing his brow as if trying to remember he asks, "It is Kenzo correct?"

Quickly looking around the office he turns to Nikola, "Do you think there would be anything of immediate aid?"
------------------
Once done in the office he returns to the common room and moves towards the second counselor's door. Listening at the door, he turns towards Nikola and nods. Keeping the mop handle at the ready when she opens the door.

Looking around you likely don't notice anything that would be helpful, Perception DC 20.

You continue to whisper to each other and then move to the next room. After Nikola opens the door Kenzo and Ujio enter into the room looking for threats or blood splatters, after a quick check it seems this counselor didn't make it in today.

Another: Perception DC 20.

Where to next? I marked the map with yellow suns for places you have cleared. Go ahead and add more if I missed any.

I added suns to the classrooms we cleared in the north eastern corner, could we put a mark, maybe a red X on the room with the broken window and sound that Nikola put the warning on?

Hearing the youth ask 'what is happening' Ujio, not sure how to explain, asks the AI "Digital Assistant could you explain the disease to Kenzo as well?" he then begins a quick search of the room for anything of use in an emergency situation.

Yup got the red X's in place.

As you quickly scan the counselor's room you see a few items that could come in handy: A letter opener that could almost be called a knife, a nearly full pack of water bottles, and a wall safe.

---I am going to back you up a little...
As you come around the corner heading to the staff room, you see the door is ajar and a pool of blood is spreading. As you cautiously move towards the open door you hear the sounds of 'eating or munching'.

The radio/phone then chimes with a metallic male voice, "Of course. As of recently from the WHO, no cure has been found yet. As the virus spreads the number of researchers will decline. 93.75% of people infected have either died or been affected by the virus.

Slipping the letter opener in his belt, Ujio lifts the case of water and takes it out to the common room, setting it on one of the tables. As the radio/phone finishes it's explanation on the living dead, Ujio remembers something it had said. Asking, "I.D.A., You said the third floor would be the safest. Why do you think that?"

Nodding in agreement with Kenzo, Ujio turns to Nikola, "Miss, would you mark this door as well?" He nods towards the other security door and starts to head that way. Having a gift for the obvious, he says. "Once we determine what rooms are safe and have gathered the students from the third floor, we should remove the bodies and destroy any infested."

Stopping at the security door, he listens, hoping it is as well stocked as the other.

You tap the lock to the security lock and remember this one didn't work all the time. Repeated attempts to unlock the door fail.

I am assuming one of you closed the door to the staff room? Who? Did they do a Stealth check or quickly closed it?

"Oh I see you are attempting to descend, allow me to increase your clearance level, you now will be able to access Alpha, Beta, and Delta levels. Omega and Sigma levels are beyond my capabilities to gain access. Though with a direct connection I should be able to remedy that."

Trying the door again the lockpad turns green and you hear the click of several deadbolts. Beyond you find a simple desk with a computer on it. The room is rather bare except for filing cabinets. At the far end of the room you find another door and keypad.
