@GM Jhaeman - Well that makes sense. When they tell you to push the green button and you confuse it with the red button it might pose a little bit of a problem. ;)
Rogarch

^And they think your lack of colour vision is the problem. :-)

Quick Suggestion: If anybody has any way to compromise her saving throws (Intimidate to demoralize? Anyone good at that?), that could be worth doing.
Also, vis-a-vis her category for Knowledge, I'm pretty sure she's either (Nature) or (Local). I for one am only trained in the latter thus far (still pondering just where to put next level's skill ranks, but Knowledge [Nature] is looking more and more plausible).
Rogarch

Rogarch plans on demoralizing the witch with her big honking hammer. Generally this is a much better plan than yelling "boo" and hope that it sticks. :)
The sea witch's curse is bloody nasty (and the strength damage is no fun either). It is a good thing that we have a cleric in the party with Remove Curse on his spell list. The idea of spending the entire adventure in the staggered state is beyond frightening.
When you look at how much knowledge (nature) covers it is pretty staggering. It is definitely a very good knowledge skill to have. :)

GM Jhaeman:
Do you...not track monster damage in the combat queue?
Also, BTW, you might want to remove Nemesis Melek, who showed up strictly for a quip, from the "Characters" roster. :)
Rogarch

That encounter really got my blood pumping. :)
Ting Tang
|
RP is always good. Ting only has an Int of 7 so counting up to four in a combat situation might be tough for him. ;)
Yeah, ting was one of the first characters I built, and the fellow he was in a game with had min/maxed his barbarian so I assumed that was the best thing to do.
I don't build characters that way anymore, but at least I try and play him as dumb and uncharismatic as his numbers imply :)
Xanac Candledark
|
As for the "Characters" roster, I never really look at that, so I don't mind if Nemesis Melek sticks around :)
Mind doing it for me, in that case? It's slightly annoying because her name keeps popping up for me before this one.
Rogarch
|
@Ting - There is no problem with dumping a characteristic or two during character creation. It adds a bit of flavour. Mechanically it pays to be really good at your main shtick and this helps to explain the focus on min/maxing by some players. :)
Rogarch
|
@Ting - This is true. Odious personal habits are not a reflection of low charisma. In fact there are people with very high charisma that have these in spades as these people have the self-confidence to openly flaunt social conventions and get away with it. :)
I feel that there is a misconception about this statistic in general. Charisma for the most part reflects strength of personality and magnetism. So most (not all) characters with low charisma just have bland or weak personalities that do not stand out in a crowd. They are not unlikable (for the most part) but are generally less socially impactful than most people.
Ting Tang
|
LOL, I meant it more in jest, but your point is true.
Ting is loud and obnoxious. In my mind; his voice is crow like, his language is vulgar, (because of damage done to his bill) his face is non-symmetrical and you can hear him breathing and his language is hard to understand.
I'm hoping all of these things make him as uncharismatic as he is fun to play.
Rogarch
|
Ting may have all of those personal attributes which makes him really fun to play (and I am not suggesting that you change anything) but they are not a reflection of his low charisma. Charisma is for the most part a mental statistic that is independent of your physical status. This is a reason why many undead and evil outsiders often have extremely high charisma scores despite their often disgusting appearance.
Feel free to disagree as this is only my opinion. :)

Like most Smalls, my speed is 20'; further, I shall probably be going even slower if I wish to maintain Stealth.
All I can picture is the tall folk walking together in a clump ten foot forwards, waiting as Xanac runs from shrub to trashcan to box, nodding. The tall folk then moving ten more foot and waiting as he repeats the process.
Edit: proposed marching order 2x2: Rogarch/ting, Xanac/Goran, or single file, ting, Rogarch, Xanac, Goran. I'm ok if Rogach or RnR want to go first, it's just ting is so short Rogarch should be able to see over him with no problem :)

We can have the three martially inclined characters in the front-line as I mentioned in the game post. Ting must be in the front to properly track. So a 3X2 grid then.
Ting Tang

As Ting moves away from the hostile attackers, Rogarch brings up a shimmering magical defense!
Yikes, didn't he actually move towards them? He went 30 ft south by southeast
Ting Tang
|
can someone move me beside Rogarch please? ty...on phone...
you're nearly 60 ft from Rogarch, and it's a surprise round. We're we supposed to place ourselves on the map or start where we were?
Rogarch
|
I moved Goran five feet away from the enemies. That is all the movement he has left in the surprise round after casting his lovely Fireball. :)
@Ting - If we were moving forward it would make sense that we would be organised in a marching order. As we are searching on a wilderness map for loot it makes perfect sense that the characters are scattered randomly on the map. This also makes the combat a bit more of a challenge and more interesting for everyone. Rawk-N-Role is always adjacent to my character due to their familiar-master relationship. :)
Ting Tang
|
That's what I thought as well, it makes perfect sense they were scattered about the battlefield. I just wasn't sure how much movement Goran was hoping for.
my bad...i should have clarified my earlier post...i meant move as in place me...not move as in a move action...sorry
LOL, I didn't even think that since you couldn't move on the map that you didn't see that the GM had placed us already :)

@DM: Given that the first use of my shield wand was for nothing and kind of felt like a trap/trick (since I don't think I've ever seen a enemy group show up in this game before suddenly disappearing for several minutes again), I don't suppose you'd let me reclaim a charge?
Rogarch
|
^Very true. My character expended a charge off her wand of Shield during that waiting period as well as it seemed the right thing to do so. :)
Generally it is better to use your consumables than not when required otherwise keep your gold and Prestige and spend it on permanent items and boons instead.

So before I posted, I thought ting was shaken, and rolled an attack, it was a 19, and the confirm crit was a 19 and since he flanked it was a sneak attack. As I was rereading I realized he was frightened not shaken. I was so unhappy...

@Ting Tang: Avast! One thing's been ticklin' the back o' me skull for many a day: Why do ye always refer to 'er specifically as yer "exotic bastard sword" - as though there by any other kind on land or sea?!
Happy Talk Like A Pirate Day, ye bilgerats!!!

I have it listed this way in his gear: +1 exotic bastard sword: 6 lbs. That's how the sword was described when he found it in The Godsmouth Heresy. The module provides more information about the two bodies, though it's not much.
DC 15 Knowledge (local):
The intricate armor is in a style favored by the mysterious men of the Iridian Fold. Enigmatic foreigners, the men of the Iridian Fold are believed to hail from the continent of Casmaron, and always travel in pairs—one in the strange armor, and the other swathed in veils. The skeleton on the floor is the remains of the other half of the pair.
The Iridian Fold in the Pathfinder Chronicles: City of Stranger the armed member of the two is wearing samurai armor and sword.
So I refer to it as an exotic bastard sword.

That's a good idea, I'm going to assume you don't mean for ting to just stand there and wiggle his tail feathers...not that he's not willing to do that if it will help.

Sorry about my extended absence, I've been...confused and preoccupied.
| GM Jhaeman |
Okay, I've put up a map on Slide # 2. You are the Yellow arrow at the bottom. The room labelled "A" is the map room, and "B" is the bridge across one of the molten gold canals. I'm compiling some general information below.
The entire city is lit by flickering, greenish phosphorescence on the cavern ceiling and from glowing, molten-gold canals (treat as Dim Light). Buildings are constructed from granite.
The First Ring
Gold plating covers all of the buildings in the First Ring but ends in a straight, horizontal line at the height of 40'. The ring is separated from others by thick walls of bedrock that stretch from floor to ceiling.
The First Ring is mostly in ruins, with only a few intact buildings in clusters scattered through the ring; however, most of the streets are relatively free of debris, through what is there is coated in a thin layer of gold; average height of the ceiling is 80 feet. The floor slopes gradually up to the walls of the Second Ring, 20’ above the level of the gold canals.

A dangerous combination, hope things in RL are running smoother now!
It sounds like I should clarify: Preoccupied out-of-game. Confused in-game.
Partial Tangent: Personally, I don't care for things "running smoothly"; when I hear it, it tends to have an almost nefarious (in a banality-of-evil sort of way) overtone.
You must have Chaos within you to give birth to a dancing star.

@GM Jhaeman - It will not be relevant for this combat but my character's current initiative modifier is now +7 (due to the Blood Boiling pill).
The animated gold armour is pretty neat. I expected a super heated bridge and I got a combat instead. Much better! :)

"He hits hard too. Alright, we are smarter than him. I hope. I will try to trip him and then we can try to skirmish with him."
@everyone - Please do not end your turn within ten feet of him. With a bit of patience and tactical acumen we should be able to wear down a mindless construct.
hmmm, mixed signals here, are we closing with the construct if it falls or are we staying back?
GM did the construct fall?
Rogarch
|
@Ting - I deleted that last instruction as I found it to be a bit too much to be telling the party what to do ooc. We can either repeatedly play trip and run with him or rush in and beat him down. Do what your character wants to do. Both are good options. :)

I noticed later you deleted it. Ting is more the charge in and attack sort. but I'll wait to see if the construct fell or not.
By the way, ting is amicable to strategy, my preference is to sort it out in character. I just wanted to know which way Rogarch wanted to go.
