Khaldan al Tephu
|
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
Khaldan will whisper "I can hear something behind the barricade"
(Does the barricade look like it was built to keep thing out from the side tunnel, or in it?)
If it is keeping things out of the side tunnel, Khaldan will motion towards the barricade and try to quietly dismantle part of it. That is unless someone intervenes.
Crafting: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
If it is facing the side tunnel and protecting the main passage, he will leave it alone.
| GM Watery Soup |
The barricade was built to keep something inside the side tunnel. I will take that as a vote to keep moving down the main passage, and Fibek's statement as a abstention. Three votes to do something will move the party.
Khaldan al Tephu
|
Looking at the barricade closely, Khaldan will quietly say "Hmm, looks like this is meant to keep something in, we should leave it be and continue onwards I think. I'm curious about the clattering, but we can always come back later."
(Definitely a vote for following the main passage)
| GM Watery Soup |
3 votes for main passage. Updated Slide 4.
The corridor continues to the southwest, but the heroes spot a side passage that branches off a high ledge to the east, about 10 feet off the ground. There is a set of double doors barely visible.
DC 10 Athletics check to climb up, but I'll need to know who's going up and who's staying down.
| Taong Malakas |
Taong also climbs as well. "Let's see what is beyond that."
DC 10 Athletics: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Khaldan al Tephu
|
"Ah well, if we are all going up..."
Khaldan will give anyone wanting it a hand up the cliff
Climb assist 1: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
Climb assist 2: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Climb assist 3: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
and then Khaldan will climb up the cliff himself
Climb: 1d20 ⇒ 19
Once up, Khaldan will stay at the back of the party as usual, likely near the edge

DC 15 Religion:
Touch or drink the water in the bowl?:
Khaldan al Tephu
|
Religion DC 15: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
"Gozreh? Don't hear about them much in the desert! Glad you know about them Fibek. I'm happy to help out with cleaning. Should we be drinking the water, or leaving it be, do you think?"
Khaldan will then use his own water to start scrubbing off the scum from the shrine, starting from the left hand side. After a short time he will start muttering "Never have the right spell..."
While scrubbing he muses
In any other group I would swap in prestidigitation but I expect everyone else will have the job done by the time 10 minutes is up in this group!
| Taong Malakas |
"A bowl of water that is perfectly clear, that looks suspicious to me." Taong comments and does not bother with the water in the bowl.
| Kenoryth |
After a short time he will start muttering "Never have the right spell..."
"Amen," says Kenoryth, helping to clean up. "Never the right spell. Well, we can all consider memorizing different spells when we rest. You come from the desert? Is it one of the colorful painted ones? or one of the brown boring ones?"
| GM Watery Soup |
Kenoryth makes some small talk as the group climbs back down and keeps following the corridor.

Updated Slide 3.
This large room looks like it was once a storeroom for a building above. At the far side, you can make out what might have been a cage or cell at some point, but it is now full of crates and barrels. Four lizardlike creatures the size of human children are clustered around the door to the cell, trying to pry it open.
Just giving everyone a chance to react in case anyone wants to do something besides storm the room and kill everyone.
| Taong Malakas |
Taong raises his shield, waiting for a consensus on what to do. "Talking to them sounds... reasonable."
Khaldan al Tephu

Addressing the lizard creatures first in Common, then Draconic then Elven, depending on what they react to.

"Hello!" Khaldan will start in a friendly tone, "Can we help you there? Have you have seen anyone else passing by here?"
((He'll hold off on questions about the basement and barrels until they have had a chance to react.))
| GM Watery Soup |
As soon as they hear any voice, they grab their weapons and attack, yelling in Draconic.
Scout (Khaldan): 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 7 + 1 = 20
Defend (Taong): 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 5 + 1 = 18

Investigate (Gurneven): 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 4 + 1 = 14
Initiative (Enemy): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
The heroes have a chance to act before anyone of them can grab weapons, though.

Saving Throw Will
Each creature in the area becomes drowsy and might fall asleep. A creature that falls unconscious from this spell doesn't fall prone or release what it's holding. This spell doesn't prevent creatures from waking up due to a successful Perception check, limiting its utility in combat.
Critical Success The creature is unaffected.
Success The creature takes a –1 status penalty to Perception checks for 1 round.
Failure The creature falls unconscious. If it's still unconscious after 1 minute, it wakes up automatically.
Critical Failure The creature falls unconscious. If it's still unconscious after 1 hour, it wakes up automatically.
Fibek moves up and catches the top four in a magical spell that compells slumber. He humms a soothing lullaby while he casts and weaves his hands.

Cyan Will: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15 vs DC 16
Yellow and Cyan fall asleep on their feet. They will need a DC 16 Perception check to wake up on their turn.
I will assume Khaldan will target a non-asleep one, I'll choose Green instead.
Khaldan fires a ray of frost at Green, and it strikes him on his temple. He falls asleep ... permanently.

I apologize for being absent during the holidays. I was able to inform the tables I am running that I will be away for the duration of the holidays but I forgot to post on the games I play. Internet is also not steady in the places I went.

After the fight, the heroes can examine their foes. Some of the kobolds are carrying dried fish stolen from the fishery—clearly they were involved in the thefts, but more fish are missing than can be explained by six kobolds.
Let me know if you'd like to question the captured kobold.
The boxes in this room are in the locked steel cell. DC 15 Thievery (1 success) to pick the lock, or DC 25 Athletics to Force Open.
Khaldan al Tephu

Khaldan will start talking to the kobold in Draconic.
"Did you steal the fish? Where is the rest of it? And why did you attack us when we tried to talk to you?"
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
| GM Watery Soup |
"Did you steal the fish? Where is the rest of it?"
"Yes, we stole the fish. The rest of it is down below, it's for our puppy."
And why did you attack us when we tried to talk to you?
"You've intruded in our home!"
"What is in those boxes??"
"Well, now, if we knew, we wouldn't be trying to break in, would we?"
Please see Discussion thread about Diplomacy rolls.
| GM Watery Soup |
The kobold shrugs. "Plebes like me aren't allowed to interact with the puppy. Only the leaders."
Khaldan al Tephu
|
Khaldan will nod approvingly at that question. and continue patiently "How about that barricade back towards the spider and barrels? What's behind that ?"
Afterwards he will move away from the prisoner, and beckon Fibek and the others over. He will then ask in a quiet voice "So Fibek, are you any good with locks? Could you get into that cage?" then looking around at the group "Anyone else? We could leave the kobold there until we get back if we can open it and lock it behind us."
| Taong Malakas |
"Are there others like you here?" Taong asks the same kobold. "More or else, their puppy is our fish-thief." he infers from what they have learned so far. "Let must go deeper and find that puppy. If there are more like this kobold, they might answer what and who this puppy is," he adds.

The party moves forward (Slide 4 updated) through the door, but Dailyn and Khaldan quickly stop the group.
The floor tile is loose, and some of the slabs on the ceiling appear to be wobbling tenuously. On further inspection, the two are linked - anyone who steps on the trap has rocks fall on them.
DC 18 Thievery to Disable, trap goes off on a Crit Fail.
Khaldan al Tephu
|
"Interesting idea. Of course it's going to make a lot of noise. If anyone wants to try to deactvatate it ... go ahead"
Khaldan will wait for a bit, but if no-one steps in with a more professional approach, he will stand well back and summon a ghostly hand ( Mage Hand) to shift some of the smaller rocks from the roof on to the trigger on the floor.
| Taong Malakas |
Taong has Thievery +1 so he'll pass for this one.
"Keen eyes you have there," Taong compliments Dailyn and Khaldan. He nods at the suggestion that they trigger it from afar. "Magical solutions are way better than anything else."
| GM Watery Soup |
A pile of telekinetically thrown rocks triggers the trap - the ceiling comes crashing down onto the floor. Eventually, the group digs their way to the door, which opens to the next chamber. It silently glides open to reveal a long room. Two stone statues of priests stand in the corners along one side of the room, facing a towering statue of a man holding out both of his hands, palms up. In front of this statue is a stone altar holding nine golden coins.
A voice booms out from the statue. “In my hands I judge the value of all wealth, raising up whichever is greater. One of these coins is a deception. Find it using only two judgments and receive my blessing.”
All of the coins look identical and they all weigh exactly the same, but the fake coin is worth less than the others. Explain to the players that when the heroes place coins in the statue’s hands, it will raise the hand that has a higher value. For example, if the heroes put four coins in each hand and the right hand contains the fake, the statue will raise the left hand.
There's a good chance some of you players to have faced this puzzle before (perhaps outside of Pathfinder). Please give a chance for those who haven't faced it to do it on their own, but acknowledge you're deferring so I can differentiate between "people haven't checked the thread" from "people are just holding back." If everyone has seen the puzzle before, I'll just call out a success and move us on.
