Lazarus considers if he know anything else, and then remembers that these beetles are resistant not just to piercing and slashing, but to cold and electricity. He also realizes that their mandibles can constrict, and they are capable of carrying other undead creatures inside their abdomen... though with the holes in Pink already, if there was something else inside the bug, you would have all seen it.

His elven ears do pick up a faint chiming noise as the creatures move, and thinks they may have been recently been raised as undead by the powerful magic in the area.

Dr. Lazarus throws his hammer into Green, and puts another hole into the carapace. Nope, nothing hiding there, either!

At Meadow's command, Silence attacks Green and misses. Green squiggles his mandibles, thinking about how delicious owl might be.

Then Meadow shoots Pink, but only hits on the first strike! The Pink Beetle's thick carapace manages to resist most of the piercing damage, but the creature still goes down to her shot.

A new record! 16 posts waiting for me in gameplay. Sorry for holding things up, but this meaty vessel in which I'm trapped requires that I become unconscious on a regular basis if it is to continue functioning properly. Very annoying.

Once Thurston has patched Turiik's wounds, Jayma once again cleans him up with a quick spell. "There you go. Good as new again. Let's see if we can keep it that way for more than five minutes, yes?"

She then follows the rest as the group explores the nearby rooms. She's a little on edge when they discover more remains of the dead, but relaxes somewhat when the remains turn out to want to remain that way. An interesting architectural detail catches her eye and she's a little slow to react to the commotion in the next room. Thurston's yell snaps her head around and she sees that not all the dead in this place feel the same way as the ones in this room. "Ah, sulfur zombies is it? How novel!" Also a little annoying, as their affinity to fire will likely make many of her attacks less effective.

Shrugging in resignation, she raises her magical pink shield once more and finding a sharp-edged bone splinter sends it spinning past Turiik and across the creature's neck with a flick of her wrist and a "noggin noshers not needed now".

If a suitably sharp-edged piece of debris isn't available, Jayma has a small pouch on her belt full of sharp-edged buttons that she uses when she needs to inflict slashing damage. If that is the case, then instead of raising her Shield, she'll Interact to pull out one of her buttons and send that at flying the Zombie instead.

So I have some questions about the knife and Untether from Time.

1. Do you have to be in melee range to use Untether from Time?
2. Does Untether from Time require an attack roll?
2a. If so is the attack like a dagger (i.e. Str or Dex based attack roll, possibly with agile)?
2b. Does it have any bonus to hit?
3. Can Untether from Time be used more than once per round?

If I had to guess I'd say:

1. yes
2. yes
2a. probably
2b. no clue
3. yes

Since Jindu said that 'it may tethered into the time loop in multiple places' that might mean multiple places' so that might mean moving to different spots on the ship.

It also looks like hero points cannot be used on Untether from Time since it has the fortune trait and hero point rerolls are fortune effects.

So the Knife attack is a fortune effect.

NOTE: the Investigator's Devise a Stratagem is also a fortune effect. This largely means, I, the player, cannot use another fortune effect (i.e hero point) to reroll the Devise roll. But once the Devise is complete and the roll is set, using Untether later for the strike should be a completely different action with a separate fortune effect.

GM Hmm: I just want to make sure this would be allowed: Fortune effect on the Devise. Followed by a different Fortune effect on the Strike.

Jayma is +15 to hit and 1d4-1 damage with a dagger. Not exactly a ninja. The professor at +21 to hit is clearly the better choice of the two of us. In a pinch, if he goes down, then I guess Jayma can dash forward, grab the knife and give it a shot herself.

Jayma looks with awe at the now glowing and humming knife. "Wield it well doctor, our lives and futures depend on it." She then goes back on deck, and taking a dumpling in hand, readies herself to fight the Morrowkin. She waits until the last moment to cast Invisibility spells on herself and anyone else who wants one.

Based on our last combat, it seems that the Morrowkin has somewhere in the 277-368 range of HP. We can probably narrow that down a little if the GM would tell us whose attack was the killing blow from THIS POST. This will let us whittle its hit points down to under 160 without blasting it out of existence in one fiery round and having to do it all over again a minute later.

Meadow's was the killing blow.

It's totally fine having Meadow use the Knife. And if that makes the most sense, great! However ...

It's not like Lazarus can't use it. He just wouldn't be able to Devise with it, so he'd be at +20 to hit, instead of +21.

If he rolls a good roll on Devise, he could just ignore it when it's time to use the Knife.

If Lazarus rolled a bad Devise roll, he'd be able to roll again to attack with the Knife (something he normally doesn't get to do.)

Bottom Line:
o Meadow is the mathematically better choice because she's at +21 on her attack roll (compared to +20 for Laz w/o Devise).
o Meadow is typically further from the fray with her bow, while Laz likes to be within 20' (1 move action). But Meadow can try to keep a 35' distance to reach the enemy in 1 action.
o Meadow uses a 2-handed bow, while Laz uses a 1-handed hammer and could wield the Knife concurrently. But Meadow has Quickdraw, so that won't matter. (Edited after reading Tarcog's post) Unless it requires switching weapons back and forth.

Okay, Meadow it is! Just wanted to waste everyone's time and talk it through. You're welcome. :)

@ Jayma could Meadow get a haste in addition to a rank 4 invisibiliy?

No problemo.

As I just messaged, I have the following spells and targets ready to go:

L4:Invisibility for Jayma, Meadow and Laz
L3:Haste for Jayma, Meadow and Laz

Anyone else? I have one L4 and one L3 slot left

Once we knock at least 165 hit points off the creature (I recommend we aim for closer to 205hp), we need to lay off it until all the tethers are cut before we pile back in to finish it off. We want to avoid killing it before all the tethers are cut.

When Dr. Lazarus returns to the University of Osirion, he finds his forensics lab in disarray. He spends time tinkering, adjusting, and making repairs. He carefully notes down all hours in his notebook for reimbursement.

In anticipation of reviving this campaign for the Gameday, I am reopening this campaign thread.

We'll be starting after September 18th. You will stay 10th level for it.

Meadow gives the group a concerned look and nervously bits her lower lip. "I hate to keep bringing this up but are you absolutely certain that the baked goods aren't cursed? I mean okay the muffins are fine but what about the marbled rye or the sourdough?"

The young ranger nods emphatically as she agrees with the owl. "Excactly, Silence. Good point. What about those weird colored bits in the fruitcake? You can't tell me those are entirely natural. They've got to be at least a little bit cursed, right?"

Dr. Lazarus is a little late to the discussion. He's carrying a large manual. "Ahhh, there you are my colleagues. I was just doing a little light reading." He plops the tome onto a nearby table, where it lands with a loud thud.

Hearing all this talk about fruitcakes, The Doctor recalls what he knows about them...
Fruitcake Lore (via Loremaster Lore): 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (1) + 18 = 19
And ... a nat-1? Seriously???
...which is not as considerable as you'd think.

The forensics professor lectures in his usual haughty manner, "In many parts of Golarian, fruitcakes are a delicacy. I've never had the pleasure myself, but it's common knowledge that most humans find them nothing short of delicious." He explains, "They love the adamantine texture and ..." nodding to Meadow, "... the quaint mystery ingredients." He continues, "Yes yes, quite the favorite, I'm told." He settles into an armchair, happy to have, once again, shared his seemingly boundless knowledge.
