Wraax and Mr. Kitteh |
@haka, yeah in 2e. AoO can, indeed, stun lock. Sort of. Your stand-up action triggers the AoO, letting them cause damage. Unlike 1e, unless one has a specific feat, you can't use Trip as part of an AoO. Usually this means the AoO only triplocks by critting and knocking you unconscious. The weapon this thing is using, though, is not one found anywhere in the normal 2e rules. So it's "knockdown versus metal armor" effect is breaking the usual mold of tight math.
Speaking of, as to the mental/fear effects. Constructs are only immune to such if they are mindless in 2e, this most definitely is not as it has been talking and making intelligent strategic actions. (Speaking of, this might be something the GM missed/assumed from 1e. If so, please take a second look. The pre-printed scenarios etc specifically call out the individual immunities now.) So, at our level, a +1 is about all it would get from any item or aura. Bringing it's Will to a +15 or greater. Which is still supposed to be max for a Level 5 enemy, one less than max for a level 6. Reserved for, usually, spell-caster sorts, who don't get AoO's, and having a Level 6 enemy, plus several smaller additional enemies, would break the encounter budget for this tier, even in a Quest...
Again, this is all breaking the tightly built-in math to this system. Which, as a Venture Lieutenant, bothers me greatly. It means I will specifically NOT be running this adventure for players in the future. As it gives off the wrong feel for 2e... Doubly so right now during this OGL nonsense... Anywho, back to game-play.
Seeing that this enemy is far beyond what it should be. Wraax will Step up to the Prefect, before whistling to Mr. Kitteh, sending her into a Flank and Biting at it. Before finally slamming his Scythe at it.

COMBAT OVER
Now that the guardians have been dealt with, you are able to further explore the laboratory. A collection of clockwork tools, shattered aeon stones and rotting piles of vellum fill the shelves in this crowded workspace. Large metal panels removed from the facility’s walls lie in the center of the room; etched into these panels are meticulous blueprints for a wayfinder identical to the one Muesello lent you. You deduce an additional fact about wayfinders that share its model, as indicated by the color of the wayfinder’s light. A signature on each panel reads "Preserver."
The wayfinder has a safety mechanism to prevent accidental conflicts between undercover agents under the effects of magical compulsion.
Records in hand, you return to the Kingfisher. Muesello, thrilled by the discoveries, awards each of you and promises you the first opportunity to obtain the next generation of wayfinders.
