| Aygavan Salmain |
Using an inspiration on this stealth roll.
Stealth: 1d20 + 9 + 1d6 ⇒ (15) + 9 + (6) = 30
Aygavan waves towards the party, indicating he found something. Like a ghost, he opens the door and creeps inside, trying to spot the mysterious summoner without alerting them to his presence.
Tocash
|
Tocash decides to leave the earth creature alone for the moment. Instead he steps back and sends a Magic Missile streaking at the bat.
Magic Missile Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
| GM Caster of Diobel |
I've been debating how to handle this stealthy-door-opening business. I'm going to apply a -10 penalty to Aygavan's stealth for opening the door but there may be distance-perception penalties on the other side.
Pointless perception check: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
You see a small, humanoid figure crouching in the darkness at a peephole on the far side of the building! He doesn't seem to have heard the door open and it looks like he is using some sort of spell-like ability!
Flavor of his spell manifestations there. He's now marked on the map. I think you've used your full round of actions but you can either shout, use a swift action, wait for your next turn, etc.
Tocash wounds the bat, leaving it just barely maintaining its hold on this plane!
| Maeve the Harrower |
"The assist is appreciated, I'm barely hanging on, and it has me pinned." Maeve begins to conjure magical frost at her fingertips, before fumbling the spell.
Concentration, Defensive Casting: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12 Failure, Ray of Frost Cantrip not cast.
| GM Caster of Diobel |
Attack Zab: 1d20 ⇒ 11
Attack Maeve: 1d20 ⇒ 13
Shoot Toc: 2d20 ⇒ (12, 1) = 13
Dam to Maeve: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
The monsters keep attacking! Zaborjca blocks a blow while Tocash dodges two rays of light but the dire bat knocks Maeve unconscious! She falls to the mud, dying.
The members of the Golden Cartel continue to attack the light orb with impunity as it keeps targeting Tocash. "We will save you, Diobelians!"
8 dam to Maeve on the bite. Everyone, GO!
| Maeve the Harrower |
Down.
Tocash
|
Tocash sends another magic missile into the bat and then moves to get to Maeve.
Maeve doesn't happen to have a nice clearly marked healing potion visible by any chance?
Magic Missile: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
Jump down successfully to avoid a sprained ankle and move over to Maeve.
| Zaborjca |
"Damn... we got people down out here!"
Zab strikes out at the earth creature he'd studied previously, hoping for a quick kill so he can try to find a way to help Maeve.
Power Attack: 1d20 + 10 - 1 ⇒ (3) + 10 - 1 = 12
Damage: 1d6 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12
| Maeve the Harrower |
Stabilize: 1d20 + 3 - 7 ⇒ (4) + 3 - 7 = 0
| Aygavan Salmain |
Aygavan sneaks forward, whip at the ready.
His voice is low as he speaks softly to the summoner, "Listen here, friend. Your companions are far away, and I doubt your summoned beasties are smart enough to come in here and save you. Let them go, and things will go easy for you."
| GM Caster of Diobel |
Aygavan, is that some sort of readied action?
Tocash's well-placed missile finishes off the great bat this time! Zaborjca, unfortunately, fails to finish the earth monster in front of him.
Bonk Zab: 1d20 ⇒ 9
Zap zap, Toc: 2d20 ⇒ (20, 4) = 24
Confirm: 1d20 ⇒ 20
Dam: 1d6 ⇒ 1
The earth monster fails to land a retaliatory strike toward Zaborjca, stopped by the doughty shield. The light ray has nowhere to float but fires one more light ray at Tocash, lightly damaging him. Then the Golden Cartel agents cut it out of the air.
The halfling whirls to look at you then tries to cast a spell!
I don't think you threaten at 15 ft reach but did you have a readied action with your standard? Or did you double-move to stealth at half speed but didn't roll a stealth check? I guess I'm real confused about the mechanics of your last turn.
Everyone, GO!
Tocash
|
Tocash tries to save Maeve!
Heal: 1d20 ⇒ 8 Not so much.
| Maeve the Harrower |
Stabilize: 1d20 + 3 - 8 ⇒ (15) + 3 - 8 = 10 Stabilized.
| Zaborjca |
Zab continues to press the earth elemental - aha, its guard is weak on the left, it lacks the normal reflexes of humanoids, feint high, shield low and STRIKE!
Power Attack: 1d20 + 10 - 1 ⇒ (13) + 10 - 1 = 22
Damage: 1d6 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13
Zaborjca bellows a battle cry as his sword strikes!
I assume.
| Aygavan Salmain |
Reflex: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
Aygavan easily avoids the pit, tumbling masterfully out of the way of it. With that, he tries his best to trip the summoner by coiling his whip around the halfling's feet.
Trip: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
| GM Caster of Diobel |
Zaborjca finishes off the earth elemental! There are no monsters left outside here. But you can hear the sounds of fighting coming from inside the building that Aygavan snuck into!
Earth elementals: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Attacks: 4d20 ⇒ (14, 5, 18, 5) = 42
Dams: 2d6 + 14 ⇒ (1, 5) + 14 = 20
Reflexes: 3d20 ⇒ (4, 13, 7) = 24
The halfling curses as he dodges your whip and sidesteps. Then his eyes glow green. Suddenly, fourth earthy creatures emerge in front of you, pounding you with their rocky fists! You are barely left standing!
24 to hit for 8 and 26 to hit for 12. The other two miss. Then you need to repeat the reflex save with a +2 bonus since you ended your turn adjacent to the pit.
Then three of the rocky creatures themselves fall into the pit, leaving the halfling cursing again and with one defender.
Everyone, GO!
Tocash
|
How hard is it to get Tocash back up on the docks?
| GM Caster of Diobel |
Aygavan asked me to bot him in another game so I'll go ahead and do that here. He's busy with finals.
Everyone conscious outside the building here's Aygavan's voice shout from inside "The summoner is in here! I need help!"
Aygavan attack defensively: 1d20 + 8 - 1 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (17) + 8 - 1 + 1 - 1 = 24
Dam: 1d4 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 2 + 1 = 7
You hear his whip crack and a yelp of pain from a voice other than his.
| Zaborjca |
Zaborjca double moves towards the boat, shouting, "I am coming!", but is slowed by his heavy plate armor.
Are those earth creatures I see on the map currently threats? And is the entrance north or east of me?
Tocash
|
Tocash moves to go help Aygavan.
Climb: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
| Zaborjca |
Got it, based on what he can currently perceive, Zab is going to be prioritizing getting to Aygavan, since our unconscious folks are stable.
| GM Caster of Diobel |
Very good!
Attack: 1d20 ⇒ 2
Reflex: 1d20 ⇒ 12
Cast defensively, DC 19: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15
The earth summons moves forward, tries to hit you, but misses and then falls into the pit! The halfling tries to carefully cast a spell but fails!
Those outside the building hear loud thumping and muttering!
Everyone conscious, GO!
You see the open double doors into the building! Inside the building is Aygavan, a halfling, and a large pit with treacherous sloped sides all aroudn its perimeter between you and the humanoid combatants.
On the map, the open doors are marked with a red line. The pit is full of earth elementals so it will look funny on the map.
| Zaborjca |
Zab full on runs into the building, skidding to a halt on his leather boots as he sees the enemies inside.
I took a run action and am therefore denied dex to AC, so -2 AC until the beginning of my next turn.
| Aygavan Salmain |
Trip: 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 1d6 ⇒ (3) + 6 + 1 + (5) = 15
Aygavan tries again to trip the summoner, funneling all his mental resources into the task. Things had gotten serious, but he would not fail. He could not fail.
Move action to activate studied target, then adding inspiration to my trip attempt.
Tocash
|
Tocash moves as fast as he can to go and aid Aygavan.
Double move.
| Zaborjca |
Just an FYI my AC on my stat bar reflects my AC penalty and is accurate, in case I get attacked.
| GM Caster of Diobel |
Rumbling sounds come from the pit. Aygavan manages to trip the halfling! The halfling then stands up, cursing. He steps back, casts a spell, and turns invisible!
His map location now just reflects where you last saw him. Everyone, GO!
The members of the Golden Cartel shout out "We have saved you, citizens of fair Diobel! Why do those Kortos Consortium fools bungle about in an abandoned building?"
Tocash
|
Did Tocash see the spot the halfling was in when he turned invisible or was it out of line of sight?
Tocash
|
I am not sure what square that is, but I move for it and swipe my arm where I last saw him.
Tocash moves in and swipes where he saw the summoner.
I am going to try and grapple him. It provokes if he wants to do an AoO.
Miss Chance: 1d100 ⇒ 21
Touch Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
CMB vs CMD: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
| Aygavan Salmain |
AoO Trip: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
As the halfling stands, Aygavan decides to repeat what worked so well last time. Lo and behold, it works even better, and he smirks as he feels the bite of his whip around the summoner's ankle!
With that, he too decides to try manhandling the little bastard. With overwhelming confidence, he grabs for the invisible form of the summoner with near-perfect accuracy.
"I told you, should've gone for the easy way."
Grapple: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Concealment: 1d100 ⇒ 81
Hell yeah! Now thems some rolls!
| GM Caster of Diobel |
Ah the classic problem of trip-locking! You can't trip-lock in PF 1e bc of the timing of how aoos work. The aoo generally resolves before the triggering action, so therefore the aoo for standing takes place against the prone creature. With that in mind, do you want to roll to hit and damage with that aoo? regardless...
Aygavan grabs a hold of the invisible troublemaker!
Aygavan can re-resolve his aoo and Zaborjca can go.
| Aygavan Salmain |
Oh, sorry, thought it was the movement he took that provoked, not the standing.
Attack: 1d20 + 8 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (17) + 8 + 1 - 2 = 24
Dmage: 1d4 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 1 + 2 = 5
| Zaborjca |
I think these Earth Elementals are alive? If they're not I'll take a second move action instead of what I'm doing.
Zaborjca lunges forward and lashes out at the elemental with his sword!
Power Attack: 1d20 + 10 - 1 ⇒ (7) + 10 - 1 = 16
Damage: 1d6 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10
"What in the nine hells is this?!"
I regain my dex bonus.
| GM Caster of Diobel |
A priest rushes over, bearing a holy symbol of Aroden. "What from the Aybss is happening over here?" The agents of the Golden Cartel call out "We've rescued the citizens of Diobel from a monster attack!" The priest shakes her head "What about these?" She points to Ghorza, Maeve, and an unconscious citizen then grabs her holy symbol and lifts it high.
Channel positive energy: 3d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 6) = 10
Maeve and Ghorza may stand up and act. Zaborjca can correct his map position with the pit in mind. Merry Christmas!
