Maddox draws forth the energy needed to blast the closest kobold with a blast of acid, daring the warrior to take a stab at him. He then channels his inner rage before swinging his fist at the kobold.

He then collapses as his body is rapidly consumed by acid.

With no more sleeping foes, Darzus resorts to setting his mind to loose rocks and chunks of sewer stone blocks laying around nearby.

He's so focused picking up several chunks of it with his mind that his aim is halfhearted. He quickly released everything except the next stone and backs into the nearby corner.
The kobold is then dissolved to a puddle of goo by the Pathfinder's touch.
The kobold leader cries out!

He then rushes forward, raising his axe and attempting to bury it within the scaley Pathfinder.

No weapon out. Maddox should have a wand in one hand and a flask of acid in the other hand. Also, he did cast mage armor when we entered the dungeon, so Maddox's AC is 19.
Maddox steps back, then levels his wand at the kobold's and fires another blast of fire at them.

Just out of the corner of her eye, Kyra sees an oncoming kobold. In one motion her upper-body rotates to meet them and her arm powerfully slashes at it.

Maddox ducks and weaves around the axe wielding chief as he tries to finish the hand gestures for yet another acid spell.
Attacking once again without bothering to cast defensively, provoking an attack of opportunity.
He fails to connect, but Maddox does not. The draconic leader burns!
Kyra misses and Darzius regrets having enrolled in the Teraren school of ranged attacks.
Untouched by the other Pathfinders, the kobold chief focuses on the one that hurt him.

The body of the kobold chief sinks into the mire and muck of the surrounding sewer.
If you search the remains of the kobolds:
Among the items carried by the kobold guards, you find a decorated bag of various items including a wayfinder, a Medium breastplate, a Medium
heavy mace, and a book-sized bundle wrapped in paper and sealed with the Glyph of the Open Road. You easily identify these as a Pathfinder’s possessions, most likely they belonged to the missing Pathfinder agent, Derris Jerval.
The wrapped package contains a book and cannot be opened without breaking the seal.

Darus frowns with a slight hint of sadness.
The Society's training really should highlight such shortcuts as inadvisable. Should we search around for the body before we take the documents to Guaril Karela in the Docks? I suspect the Society and his family would want closure.
He elf looks around at the group expectantly to see what they think.
Maddox kicks the downed chieftain in the ribs. "Kobolds like this are exactly why I won't go back to living in the sewer. So paranoid that somebody is going to take their territory that they attack everybody who stumbles into it." Maddox gives him another kick then shouts, "Nobody wants your stupid sewer, you idiot!"
Maddox looks through the items and sees that they almost certainly belonged to the missing Pathfinder. "I wouldn't give up hope that he's alive quite yet. Sometimes kobold tribes like to keep longshank prisoners as slaves. We should look for him immediately though. And watch out for traps as well."
A search produces no further indication of the presence of human remains or signs of Jerval's passing. Glimpses of the shadows of enormous rats and what appear to be otyugh droppings suggest that no such evidence may any longer exist.
If you wish to follow Venture-Captain Valsin’s orders and deliver the package in Jerval’s stead, you may attempt a Knowledge (local) check to recall where the Pickled Imp is located or a Diplomacy check to gather information.
If you give the package to Karela without breaking the seal:
"Thank you for the book," Karela replies. The Varisian man immediately turns to a specific page in the book, which appears to be filled with recipes.
After reading it quickly, he returns the book to you. "I already have this volume," he says. "But thank Ambrus all the same for me, will you?"
If you broke the seal on the package before giving it to Karela:
You find the wrapped package contains a book of traditional Varisian recipes.
Upon noting that the seal has been broken, Karela shakes his head and holds out his hand in protest.
"No thanks, you can hold onto it," Karela says as he refuses the package. "Now, would you kindly leave lest the Venture-Captain learn that you've been prying into his affairs?"

The chronicle for this quest is unusual: no XP, no gold. Just a choice of a boon. Expect the chronicle sheet sometime Thursday as I am in the process of getting the kids ready for back to school. If you need a chronicle before then, shoot me a PM.

I am thinking this might be an early, pre-Shadow Faction quest. Some of the old scenarios really made it clear that the Society didn't value the lives of their agents very much.
