Hello everyone! This is my first mission beyond 1st level in Starfinder, so I'm pretty excited. How about you guys?
Threzlomn Cinderfall
|
I'm a excited to be able to bring in a character I developed for the playtest of the Precog and and how flipping appropriate the theme of this special is for that class!
A few notes, I'll be using the profile I made for the playtest, but applying it to a proper SFS character (with the same name but an SFS appended.)
His character sheet is also the old one and I'll be making a proper level 1 one asap.
| EbonFist |
I always like running specials. I shall do my best to make it interesting for you guys.
And it's nice to see some familiar faces (even if they don't look familiar.)
| EbonFist |
Hi,
How do I add myself to the player & character tab? This is the character Go Dassor Ha Jof Nilmif Of Clan Catwol (Go for short).
Do you have a profile set up for your character?
If not, you need to do that first then post as that character by choosing their name in the drop down in the "Post As" field at the bottom of the message.
As soon as you post as your character, you will automatically be added to the Player and Character tab.
You can also post as your character in the Gameplay tab to keep this game on your Campaigns tab.

Sorry. I'm finding the Paizo forum to be less than ideal and my frustration level has hit it's peak. I removed myself from the Outpost V Event Listing and decided to drop the game.
I hate to hear that. There is definitely a learning curve on the forum and I felt your frustration when I started as well.
It gets much more intuitive quickly so if you're still around, I encourage you to stick around. Lots of the players here have lots of experience with the forum so if you have questions, ask them and we can help.

Failing that, might I suggest Play-by-Discord which has less of the capriciousness of the Paizo Boards but is still a fun experience?

Hello, GM EbonFist. Xeno here. Is it possible if I use a pre-gen character instead? I am new to Starfinder, to be honest, and I am not familiar yet with the character building in this system. I will try my best to also make its statblock similar to others and have useful info in it.

*cough*probably won't have to do that cause the people on these boards are flipping AWESOME*cough*

Hello everyone. I am excited to get started soon. I am sure that it will be fun. :)

Nice! Thank you for this.

Boy...is Threzlomn in the right scenario...
When I run these I always drop all the preparation activities at once. Feel free to make the checks and RP how you're making the attempts as much as you want (though one try each.) If you don't trust your own skill you can aid another, instead but you have to use the same skill.
This phase will end in the afternoon on the 7th and we'll move on to the next.
An image of Ehu Hadif is on the first slide, images of the faction leaders/venture captains are on 6 & 7 and a synopsis of the preparation missions is on 8.
| EbonFist |
And we're off!
Slide 8 has the results of your preparation missions (in each case you achieved the hardest reward.)
I'm filling in your characters on slide 9 and will track usage of the preparation rewards there.
Slide 10 has the list of Delve Missions and a quick description of what's involved. The first two votes for one of them will get us started.
George 09-23

One vote here for the Singing Pillars. :)
Threzlomn Cinderfall
|
I'll back up any suggestion of where to next (in the future too) so Singing pillars sounds good to me.
Also don't forgot to add your information to slide 3 and tokens to slide 4, it helps the GM significantly.
| EbonFist |
Singing Pillars, it is.
Post will be up soon.
Go ahead and vote for where you want to go after the Singing Pillars and we'll roll right into it when we get done here.
Twila-5
|
In that case, I'll suggest Frozen Refractions (combat & puzzle).
George 09-23
|
Sure why not. Second vote for Frozen Refractions next. :)
| EbonFist |
Go ahead and decide which mission you want to do after Frozen Refractions so it can be on deck.
George 09-23
|
Alright let us get Memory of Water on deck for the next mini-mission.
| EbonFist |
Alrighty...time to vote on the next mission.
A couple of the Delve missions are available, now. Feel free to pick those (they just happen to be the missions that follow the Exploration Missions you've done.)
Twila-5

Halls of Eternity Delve mission sounds interesting.
George 09-23
|
I am just curious about how many missions we can go on and if there is any rest periods between them?
| EbonFist |
There are 5 Exploration missions and 5 Delve missions.
You can, theoretically do them all if you have time.
And you have time in between each mission to take a 10 minute rest and spend RP to recover stamina.
| EbonFist |
Arthur when you're making a trick attack, you have to roll a skill check (stealth with a +1 in your case) and beat a DC equal to 20 plus the target's CR before it works. It's fine to roll all the damage at once but you need to make a skill roll and an attack roll each time you want to use it and both need to succeed.
Unless, of course, you have some ability that bypasses this requirement.
| EbonFist |
Ok, folks. All the exploration missions are closed and all the Delve missions are open. Where do you guys want to go to next?
George 09-23
|
How about a Fading Trail for the next mission?
George 09-23
|
There are a lot of combat encounters for a low level caster in this adventure. Without relying on spells (or Breath weapons) these encounters become much tougher. I have no idea why low level weapons do so little damage. :)
Twila-5
|
Yeah, I'm finding that interesting. I've never played at higher levels, so I was curious if weapon damage is lower up there too.
| EbonFist |
The weapon damage scales and Weapon Specialization is a game changer (although things are balanced so that the creatures you face at that level are also tougher.)
Keep in mind that small arms and operative weapons are, I think intentionally, notably weaker than heavy weapons. It's not too difficult to get a level 1 weapon that does a d10 or d12 (which can one hit kill most 1st level monsters on a crit.)
George 09-23
|
I tend to look at what is likely to happen and not what could happen on a very lucky hit. Most of the classes do not have access to D10 or D12 weapons. Also their chances to hit are pretty low as well so average damage (not lucky damage with a high damage weapon on a critical) is fairly poor.
If you look at many of the characters they have a +1 to +3 to hit with a d4 or d6 weapon. This is likely to only result in an average of 1-2 points damage a turn. Even if you have a D10 weapon but a +4 to hit bonus your average damage/turn is probably around 3 points of damage per turn.
Operatives might be a bit better off then the rest but they still do not do stellar damage until level 5.
Now I am not saying that you could not build a melee brute that does a ton of damage at level 1. They just do not seem to show up on any abundance on this board.

I'm going to place the conditions that are in effect in here as they come up based on the missions that close out -
Coalescent Chronology: When the House GM announces the Coalescent Chronology condition, the PCs gain insight into the strange happenings around them. Once before the end of the adventure, each PC can reroll a failed saving throw within the ruins.
Warning of Peril: When the House GM announces the Warning of Peril condition, information is relayed to the PCs regarding the
hazards within the ruins. Each PC gains a +1 bonus to Reflex saves and Perception checks until the end of their current mission. At the
GM’s discretion, if the PCs are just about to finish the mission, this benefit can apply during the next mission instead. (I'm going to apply this to the next mission since you're relatively close to finishing this one.)

More missions completed more conditions -
Preternatural Insight: When the House GM announces the Preternatural insight condition, the barriers between past and present weaken momentarily, giving hints to the future. Once before the end of this adventure, as part of a 10-minute or longer rest, each PC can cast augury as a spell-like ability without spending Resolve Points.
Unfinished Business: When the House GM announces the Unfinished Business condition, the PCs feel a surge of resolve to finish what their long-ago counterparts began. Each PC immediately regains 1 Resolve Point and gains a +1 bonus to Will saves until the end of their current mission. At the GM’s discretion, if the PCs are just about to finish the mission, this benefit can apply during the next mission instead (we'll apply this one to the next mission but take the resolve point, now.)

Yay!
Out of curiosity, for those of us who failed our timey-wimey will saves, do we have an idea of how long those penalties will last? Or is it top secret for now?
George 09-23

The flurry of misses is pretty comical. I am wondering how long it can last. :)
Twila-5

After seeing how my rolls turned out, I was sorely tempted to nix the trick attack and use that 11 for my attack roll. But then I'd feel rotten for being a lying cheater, so I left her looking like a fool again. That's funnier, anyway.

It lasts until your next 8 hour rest (which is pretty close.)
George 09-23
|
So do we get to recover spells and resolve during the rest (I assume)?
My character has been holding back but if we are going to get to rest then I might start cutting loose a bit.
| EbonFist |
I'm not saying that when you finish this fight you definitely won't have to fight again before you take an 8 hour rest where you get to recover spells and resolve...
But I'm also NOT not saying that when you finish this fight you definitely won't have to fight again before you take an 8 hour rest where you get to recover spells and resolve...

It is a trivial fight so far anyways so I can afford to be patient. Besides watching everyone hit and miss with d3, d4 and d6 weapons does have a sort of old school level 0 charm to it. :)
I don't plan on meta-gaming with the information provided so no worries. My character has no idea that he is going to be getting a full rest soon and I will play him accordingly. :)
| EbonFist |
Make sure you read my post right after the House GM announcement to see the plot progression and the next tasks.
Don't get distracted by the shinies!
