Zòila, or "Grandmother Time"

Zòila goes to rest her old bones by sitting on the closest seat at the table...

Clarence retrieves his weapons and follows the small folk...

As you listen, the muttering is punctuated by whimpering and gurgling. It appears to be coming from through a door to the right.
Opening the door reveals overgrown trees and bushes stand in a roofless, muddy courtyard. Mud and slime cake the walls and drip from the eaves onto the soaked ground.
Sitting by a pool of mud is a rather pathetic looking creature (on slide).
It looks up. You can make a Sense Motive check if you are so inclined
"I...I a-a-a-am Nazraz, Prime Assistant t-t-t-to th-th-th-th-the Egregiously Generous Zarzan!
Zòila has a +1 bonus on her first check when interacting with Nazraz.

Mama Jawchu
|
"It is quite the pleasure to meet you, Nazraz." Mama Jawchu offers with only the slightest hesitation. After a glance at her toad, she adds, "That mud looks quite comfortable, did you decorate all this by yourself?"
Mama eyes the area, unsure whether to join the creature in luxuriating in the muddy courtyard or begin cleaning with her powerful spout spell.

"Whence you had come and now are here, Nazraz. A spot of tea it was for me, or nearly so, as either way, our paths are forked! For consider you, employed by Zarzan, pupil of Meave the Enchantress; Now consider we, employed by Zarzan, pupils of various masters. This moment has situated us together!"
She moves closer, explaining further "I believe our purposes are in similar alignment, which, we are here to reconcile the timeline. Time which traps us all!"

Costolian eyes the possible squatter with suspicion, but allows the others to do the talking.

Mama Jawchu and Costolian realise very quickly that the mephit is terrified right now.
Clarence has grave suspicions that it is performing a ruse on you all.
Nazraz cocks his head to one side as he deciphers the words of Grandmother Time.
"I am w-w-w-orking on a plan t-t-to starve the oozes out. It should only take ten or twenty y-y-y-years. I sh-sh-sh-shall wait until they d-d-d-do."
Mama Jawchu
|
"Oh, honey. There's no need for that! Mama Jawchu cleaned them right up for you." She gives the creature her best smile, "Master Zarzan would be happy for you to return to his service now that the job is done. He did tell me that himself!"

Costolian Milotti, The Tattooed
|
Costolian gives the goblin a look when she takes credit for the job, but he simply shrugs rather than correcting her. After all, there are more important matters at hand than the recitation of recent history.
"So?" he says with a grin, leaning in towards the mephit. "Where does your boss keep the valuables? We've been asked to check on them. To make sure that they are safe, of course."

Zòila, or "Grandmother Time"
|
"There are, in a year, 360 days - or thereabouts!" she begins.
"And there are, in a day, 24 hours - or thereabouts!" she continues.
"And there are, in an hour, 60 minutes - or thereabouts!" setting herself up.
"And so, 360 by 24 by 60, if we dilate your plan by the inverse quotient, should yield us..." she takes a moment to mentally calculate here "ten or twenty minutes!" having arrived at a figure "So yes, let us do your plan, dilated properly. Of what does it consist?"
Clarence The Hunter
|
Clarence looks to the ... creature ... sitting in a pool of filth. "Is this the creature we came to retrieve? This place is dirty and smelly. We should just grab him and go."
| Game Master Tea |
"Job is done? Ten minutes? You seem to be on Nazraz's side. We will return to my master? Slightly confused, no valuables here. Oozes gone?"
Nazraz stands then takes off and hovers around six feet in the air.
You quickly check out the rest of the house. There is nothing of value. The walls and floors are still good but the furniture is old and brittle and the soft furnishings are moth-eaten and decayed.
With little else to do, you return to the boat.
Zarzan is easily found at the Rusty Anchor. Nazraz immediately grovels, apologising for not solving the problem first and promising to do better in his next task.
"It appears you were successful. You have my thanks." He gives each of you 4gp.

Clarence turns to the wizard.
"How do you suggest I clean my javelin? It reeks now!"
Zror_

Another job well done for Zror. He says beaming with pride in himself. Now I have to go find that mangy mutt"
He walks off before turning around and gives an awkward wave. "Bye then"

"Yes. Yes. We are. Yes. No valuables. Yes" in order of askance.
Back at the Rusty Inn, Grandmother Time accepts her payment "Now where was I? Oh yes" and heads over to the tea vendor and requests a hot cup, spending the rest of her afternoon watching sipping and people watching - with anyone who cares to join her!
Costolian Milotti, The Tattooed

A frown descends on Costolian's face at the mention of no valuables.
At the inn, he holds out his hand expectantly. When he receives his payment, he sighs at how light his hand feels, but promptly slips the coins in a purse and hides it.
After all, there may be thieves around.
Thanks for running!
