Whoops! Symeon isn't palying at this table. I was just linking to the profile of the character that got my Experienced Adventurer boon. Rose is my character for this table.

Hey everyone, I am posting this an all of my games. I will be traveling for the next week. I am not taking my laptop, but will be able to post via phone. Please excuse the slower posting rate until Saturday 19th. Thanks!

I turned on my Mac, opened up Firefox, deleted all of my cookies (I had 1.3 GB of cookies & cache, yikes) and I was able to log in.

How come people started the encounter so far away? Did the rest of us not get moved up to keep up with the people in front? I assume when the GM uses a marching order they keep all the PCs roughly in that order.

I swear - me dropping to dying x is now a running theme in this rotation.

Pretty sure the scenarios do that. You have a box that states 'players start here', yadda yadda.

I do not think that the question as to why some of us were placed so far behind the rest of the group was ever addressed.
Back in the beginning of this encounter, we all started down in the same position at the base of the hill in this post. When everyone was declaring exploration activities and talking about moving up, we were moving up on the map as well. GMs can assume that everyone was in a closer formation and do so for the actual start of the of the fight, but that's not required. Checking the maps when they get posted is something a player needs to be doing. Although I will admit the slides and tactical maps being two different Google Slides is a bit different.
There's no set start locations here, so it's up to the GM to decide a place that works.

But then why have a marching order on the slides if you don't plan to use it? When there is a marching order I assume the GM is going to place the PCs roughly in that order when combat breaks out, so in that case I don't bother moving my token on the map.

Ok.
First off, sorry for the confusion regarding distancing.
This is actually the first scenario I've run that actually uses the marching order. Most of the scenarios/quests/bounties I've run don't really use it (for the most part there's always a box marked "PCs start here". Either that or you're dropped directly into combat). So in reality, this is new territory for me. It's actually the reason why I jumped at the chance for Mike to run this scenario some time ago because I had no idea how to run an exploration scenario.
My area map and tactical map are actually the same item. I just call it Area when there's no combat yet...

You shouldn't rush to make recovery checks. Your initiative would move right before the turn where you dropped so the rest of the party should have a full round to try to heal you before you make a check.

I'm a simple man. GM calls for an action on my part, I go.

When it comes to stuff like this, I'll usually make all of the rolls but put them into a spoiler. Especially in PbP, when I need to speed things up.
I've been in battles where 1 person gets poisoned and we have to wait for each poison save to be rolled. I'd rather roll them at once so the GM can resolve it as soon as possible rather than wait for each roll.
Okay, back to shooting around Supergnoll.

It's ok. I think there are better options for healing focused characters now, but there wasn't as many options when I made the character.

So sorry for not posting for a while. Life has been busy recently. I'm moving from all of the schools I teach at and my base school closed down so I was running around helping them clean-up, move things around and get rid of unnecessary things or stuff with personally identifiable information. It's sapped my energy and time. Things will be settling down next week, and I should be able to post more regularly.

Sorry for lack of posting yesterday. Swamped in the office. Prep for Easter. I will be able to post later today. In some 6 hrs or so.

Diving to stop the ball whilst fielding. Jammed two fingers into softish ground. I've torn the tendon in my left ring finger and broken that and the little finger on the same hand. Could have been worse.

I'll be on a vacation this weekend. The hotel should have wifi but if you don't hear from me for the next 40 hours you know why.
