Charlies
|
Ooppps! I think we miss something, sorry.
Jiggo Maeleranti
|
"Go Grallen!" Jiggo claps and cheers him on.
GM Tiger
|
Just to move us along, I'll hand wave it and say that eventually you manage to break the bust into tiny pieces. Dancer is overjoyed and hands you his amulet.
The bust has 20hp but with a hardness of 7... lacking major damage, you'd probably be there for awhile... :)
You return to Kreighton Shane who gives you your next clue.
"A devil is in this dungeon, a weak but cunning scion of Hell. Those of her kind love make deals and frequently serve as assistants to unwise spellcasters."
Jiggo Maeleranti
|
"Aha! The imp we encountered. Which portal was that... Purple?"
Charlies
|
Charlies follows everyone going to the purple gate. ”Is this the last one from Master Kreighton? I am kinda hungry.”
| Salera, the Reformed |
"I could fast talk the imp. He's probably so eager to make a deal I can trick him into giving up the amulet while technically not risking any of our souls."
Deception +7 might be worth a shot, just to out-negotiate the imp.
Charlies
|
”Let's go,” Charlies says and goes into the purple portal.
GM Tiger
|
You return to the imp.
"So? Are you finally here for my amulet? Do you accept the terms of my contract?"
| Salera, the Reformed |
"Right. So, let's make sure we get this exactly correct. Because I've seen these kinds of deals before. Devil is in the details, right?" Salera flashes a mischievous grin.
"First thing's first. Define soul. Sometimes it means a fragment of the soul, like a pinky finger. Doesn't seem like too much, except it's a great way of manifesting whenever you want to. No need for long-drawn out rituals, or a for an overeager wizard to cast too much. Next, how long is an hour? An hour on this plane? Or a plane where time is meaningless? Technically an hour is as long as a second is as long as a century, so you have their souls for life..."
Deception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Salera keeps talking about the finer details of deal making with devils. She slips in lies, untruths and ambiguity into the discussion to get the imp to change terms of the deal.
In the end, she promises to praise the imp's master and encourage everyone to worship them, in exchange for giving the amulet to Jiggo. And if that fails, she pledges her soul for an hour. Jiggo can dismiss her somewhere safe for an hour.
GM Tiger
|
The imp grins broadly and hands Jiggo the amulet.
"Good luck"
You return to Kreighton Shaine who, while impressed at you getting the amulet, sternly reprimands you for accepting the imp's contract. "Your souls are more important that this! Before we continue with the rest of the trial, cool your heels here for an hour so that you're no longer bound by the contract!"
Feel free to RP for an "hour"
| Salera, the Reformed |
"Hmpf. I would've killed the imp if we were using violence." She shrugs before staying very close to Jiggo. "Sorry."
Jiggo Maeleranti
|
"No problems dear." Jiggo hands the amulet. "Time to find somewhere comfy to sit down. Hopefully not poisoned."
He turns to his allies. "Well, we weren't supposed to use violence. It's not easy to figure out these solutions to difficult problems, right?"
"That's why I joined the Pathfinder Society. Too many problems that I couldn't solve alone." He pauses as Salera ruffles through his hair. "What brings you all to the Society?"
Ember Redclaw alias
|
Ember pipes up.
My tribe is the Sewer Dragons of Absalom. We have a long history of working with the Pathfinder Society, so when my time came to travel the world to gain some experience, the Pathfinder Society seemed to be a good place to go.
GM Tiger
|
The hour passes without incident. Kreighton Shane returns and gives you your last clue.
"The lowliest of all demons has an amulet. Particularly wicked spellcasters actually break off a piece of their soul and form it into a minion"
Jiggo Maeleranti
|
"How many portals do we have left? Was it that thing in the Blue portal?"
Did anyone identify the Blue creature, and if it was a quasit? I think that's what the clue is referring to.
Sindrailla
|
Without looking back, I'm pretty sure someone did ID it.
"OK, let's get to it. Does anyone remember what it wanted? Or did we pop in, say 'Wrong portal' and pop out?" she says with a smile.
Charlies
|
”Yeah, I think that's the one,” Charlies says while scratching his head because he is not sure actually. ”We'll remember when we see it, I think?” he says as he readies himself to enter the portal.
Ember Redclaw alias
|
I thought the creature we found through the Blue portal was a Quasit Ember says as he moves toward the portal to step through.
GM Tiger
|
You step through the portal. A statue of a human woman decorates the northwest corner of this chamber, beside a glowing blue pedestal.
The creature looks at you. A bit more impatient this time.
"So? Are you here for my amulet?"
Religion or Demon/Abyss Lore to ID
Diplomacy / Intimidate to trick it to revealing something.
You've been here before. Jiggo tried to do a RK but did not succeed. So anyone except Jiggo can try to ID the creature

Charlies seems to not recognize the creature. "Yes, we are here for the amulet. Would you please give it to us already, and we'll leave you peacefully." Charlies says as he project his best smile.

We are here for your amulet, good creature, but before we get down to business, could you tell us about yourself?

GM Tiger

Ember Religion: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
You don't recall anything about this creature
Upon hearing that you're there for his amulet, the creature turns to Charlies and literally throws the amulet at him, snarling "Here! Take it!" before disappearing.
Charlies
|
"Woah. That's quick." Charlies is surprised and catches the amulet thrown to him. "Is that it?" he asks the others. "I mean, let's go and bring this to Master Kreighton." he adds.
| Salera, the Reformed |
Sense Motive +4
Salera wonders if this is a dumb trick. "Normally, we teleport right back as soon as we get the amulet. Why is this so different?"
GM Tiger
|
You return with the amulet to Kreighton Shane, who beams and congratulates you on passing the test. He escorts you back to the carriages and you return to the Grand Lodge.
Marcos Farabellus meets you in the halls on the way to his office. "Walk this way, " he booms merrily, and leads you out of the Grand Lodge to a nearby arena. "This arena is a smaller adjunct to the famed Irorium, used for training gladiators. The Society rents it for upkeep trials like this one."
Emerging in an amphitheater covered in sand, Marcos Farabellus extends his arms out wide. "Now then, the Trial of Swords is a bit simpler than those of my fellow deans," he says merrily. "Since I’m the Master of Swords, I want to see how you lot use your swords. Or maces, or bows, or what have you. Now, don’t worry yourselves; this is all nonlethal, wouldn’t do to take our newest prospects off the map before they have a chance to do anything for us, eh?" He laughs. "This arena is under a ritual effect that stops any of these fights from getting too out of hand. Mind you, you can still be knocked unconscious, and if you all go down, it’s not getting you good marks here, so do try and nonlethally ‘kill’ your opponents first, eh?" He points to the other side of the arena. "You’ll face three waves of foes, emerging from there and charging down the field at you. You’ll have ten minutes or so to rest between waves, enough to patch yourselves up. Good luck!"
Just to be clear -- The combat is nonlethal only because the arena is ensorcelled so that lethal wounds only cause you to wake up in the hospital bay. You may use weapons / spells with no restrictions in terms of damage. Please arrange yourselves on the map and let me know when you're ready to begin.
Jiggo Maeleranti
|
"Well sometimes it's just good fortune." Jiggo smiles as Shane takes the amulet. "Good job everyone."
The arena. Jiggo frowns until Farabellus mentions the nonlethal aspect. "I see... okay, as long as we can't accidentally hurt anyone."
Salera snorts and moves ahead, slinking behind a pillar.
Charlies
|
Charlies prepares himself. He holds tightly the spear in his one hand and raises the steel shield on the other. But he moves next to Estes.
GM Tiger
|
Marcos takes a seat in the otherwise empty stands, then gives a nod to an assistant stationed by the entryway opposite you. Moments later, the opposite gate begins creaking open and high-pitched cries in Draconic tumble from the darkness. Marcos calls down to the arena, "Let me extend my thanks to the Society’s allies, the Sewer Dragons, for their assistance in today’s event!"
