Sorry for the quietness on my side folks, bad migraine these past few days. I'll get a post up tonight.
I was diagnosed with migraines when I was like 15 ... it can suk SO bad.
I'm sorry.I also need to say that I am sorry that I really laughed at Javor's comment anyway ;) feel better!!!

Javor Durrandon |

Ooh crap, grease fire. POCKET SAND!
No, actually, I'd like to ask if the fire is small enough currently that I can try to contain it under my shield, try to choke out the fire that way? Might still be appropriate to make a Survival check.

GM Catto |

You could try and I'll allow it. It'd still be a survival check. I do look for creative solutions and willing to take checks to give some clues and info.

These dice rolls are killing us so far.
Right? Like when does the extradimensional clown car show up?
So that we can be made more of a mockery than we are ...
Evindyl |

Like, Roll SOCIETY to see if you hit a nobleman trying to roll the barrel to the harbor ...
Even Agatha manages to hit a nobleperson with a goblin while walking the other way ...

GM Catto |

Weekends are typically rest weeks but this one was a lot more busy I'll say.

Javor Durrandon |

I dunno, I prefer having jokes to having no engagement at all.
You'll be alright Felix. Sorry we were moving so much without you though.

Evindyl |

I am back! Sickness knocked me dead for awhile but I am alive again. Getting a post up now.
WB!!!
Glad you are feeling better!

Well I forgot to use italics, so I guess that makes it active description versus inner, so I think the upshot of that is you guys can tell that Evin is totally hungry ... but a little grossed out by the goblin food.

GM Catto |

Sorry, a covid case in the family. I'll have a post tonight.

Evindyl |

:(
I am so sorry to hear this
I lost the frist person I dated here in Mexico late this summer to COVID
It is really devastating
Please just live ... that was NOT the memo I thought I missed.

Dario Zuz |

The best of wishes to you and yours, GM Catto. I hope they recover swiftly and with little residual harm.

Evindyl |

Sorry to hear it. Life is fragile. Hug your family and call your friends.
You never know when it might be the last time.
I know I do!

As a criminal defense attorney, let me say that not helping the police is not obstruction. Being rude to the police or suggesting their mothers had unusual partners is also not obstruction. It's darn rude, but it's not obstruction.
Lying to them is, of course.
Of course, perhaps in Absalom, those things are illegal. Shrug.

Agatha Wytchlight |

A lot of law in the 13th to 17th centuries was a fair bit hit and miss. Sometimes good, sometimes bad. It really depended on the ruler and his officials.
Look up the hanging judge in England under James II. Corrupt as sin, and would take bribes to acquit, then hang them anyway.
Also policing as we know it really didn't turn up until the 19th century

Nah, those are all true. Evin's intuition that the elven wench is withholding information lacks any evidentiary support whatsoever: but, at a minimum, as an axiom, people who want to be helful tend to be ... helpful.

Exactly ... Evin is like totally the full on Shire Reeve for sure ;)

Is that the example you're proposing we follow in this game? 'Cause I have to tell you, I'm feeling uncomfortable with this.

Is there a proposal there?
I didn't propose Shire Reeves either ...If now is the time to discuss play style, then now is the time to discuss play style I guess. But for me, I'm not going to pretend that the NYPD of Golarion is some how comprised of school marms. To me, I'm going to bet that Edgewatch is probably a lot more like the NYPD is: there's some good ones, there's some bad ones, and there's my girlfriend Carol who posed for Playboy. Like what am I missing here? Peace officers, in the UNIVERSE, can be bungholes when you don't fall in line, so this woman offending a character's sensibilities about his people, citizens of the city, and the spirit of cooperation doesn't seem that whacked out to me. Like I really must be missing something. Even TJ Hooker had good cop/bad cop happening ...

Sure. I have no problems with good cop/bad cop, but that felt more like "Stormtroopers". We have zero evidence this person did anything wrong, other than a gut feeling.
To me, good cop/bad cop is something you bring out when you know you have a perp or an uncooperative witness or whatever. Not just some angry woman who wants everyone the hell out of her shop. I just don't want us to be thugs.
So, thank you for asking me to talk about it.
On a closely related note, I hope I am -not- being a snowflake, here. One of those games where someone's too sensitive for the portrayal of a gruff or unlikable character. I hate that hyper-sensitive stuff. Which is why I said it made me uncomfortable rather than "don't do it." I just wanted to have a talk about what we all want out of this. Much as I would if I found myself in a game where other players wanted to portray evil characters.
I have a feeling we may be saying the same thing, actually.

"Master Kemeneles always said that she was no good, had a grudge against him," he says much to the elf's anger.
She quickly responds, "Kemeneles was a drunken lout, boy. I haven't seen him in years. You're lucky I have not struck you down for invading my home."
Evindyl purses his lips and gives just a touch of side-eye to the Elven woman ... quietly he says,
** spoiler omitted **
"Easy to do when I'm not even home. Speak to me in Taldane officer," she says rather frustrated, "I don't have time for this damn it. You got him out and he is lucky I don't press charges. Expect a complaint to your boss."
The boy stands looking rather happy.
With all the love that I have, I want everyone to look at the progression. Evin was responding to what he received ... it's not like he just charged in. Prior to the above, he was actually solicitous of the lady. So her aggravated zero to sixty was worth responding to in kind. Yeah, uh huh, I know, this is when we could have "suggested" that the team come back with a warrant, but it's Absalom, not Toledo. I appreciate the snowflake discussion a lot here, because if we need to softly glad-hand everyone in the city regardless of how clearly belligerent they are, that will take like Harry Potter level suspension of disbelief. We've already, gently, told this person what our process will be, and she tells us to get the f out? Again, I still feel like I'm missing something, like some Get Out of Jail Free card that she has for being a shopowner? I really don't get it. I was alive the last 24 months, watched the news, everything. I know how this situation goes in real life, and the best description is "poorly" -- much more poorly than Evin being a little pushy after a potential suspect went ballistic for absolutely no reason.
