    Left to his own devices, Urwal continues moving forward. In his trance state, however, he is easily restrained, either by hand or by rope, allowing you time to rest and recover.

    You have plenty of time to heal and recover, and find no other dangers during the first day. At night, you can restrain Urwal with ropes or other bindings, which will prevent him from leaving while you sleep. You don't know how many days this trip will take, but it seems that it will be more than one. Any changes to daily preparations, marching order, exploration mode, etc. as you go into day two and potentially beyond?

    Your hike continues for four days, Urwal wandering forward constantly except for sporadic periods where he falls forward in exhaustion and sleeps for a few fitful hours. You quickly discover that, unless restrained, Urwal will continue forward through the night. Even tying him to yourself is not sufficient, which you discover when you awaken one morning to find he has dragged Amiri 100 feet from camp during the night. Tied to something heavy like a tree or a boulder, he at first lays out a pattern--always the same pattern--in pebbles or leaves or whatever is at hand, then struggles against his bonds until you release him.

    DC 20 Occultism or Survival to recognize pattern:
    You recognize this as the Forest Dragon constellation.

    On the fourth day, dark clouds and a pungent tang in the air suggest a looming storm. Lightning strikes several places in the not-distant-enough forest, setting the blood red pines ablaze, and before you can run for cover, a thick, smoky fog pours over you!

    As the smoke clears, the landscape seems to have changed! Suddenly, the whole forest seems to be ablaze, the unfamiliar landscape assaulted by terrible storms. More immediately concerning, Urwal is nowhere to be seen, the rope you had tied to him lying slack on the ground! Before you can begin to search for him, a familiar face comes trotting toward you from up ahead: Tombu, one of the centaurs heckling you during Blackberry’s trials back at camp. He has a manic grin and an intense look in his eye, and he calls out to you as he approaches.

    “Urwal is not here. He’s so far off in his own world I could not transition him.” The centaur grins wildly, backlit by another flash of distant lightning. “The demon lord Urxehl bids you welcome to this small portion of great Urxehl’s majestically burning Abyssal realm. You are nothing but twigs of tinder in the face of my lord’s great power! So long as these fires burn, you will never see home again!”

    A small, fiery creature emerges from the flames ahead, flapping up onto the rock beside Tombu! The flames all around the area then seem to flair to life, radiating an intense heat that you can feel even 10 feet away (though it's not hot enough to burn you at that distance). The heat seems to manifest above Krellin's head, a rain of fire falling down onto the monk!

    Sorry, I forgot one part of the description of the fires! The area around each fire is filled with thick smoke that conceals any creature within, and conceals creatures without from those within. I've marked active fires with yellow-dotted lines, and the smoke with black transparencies on the map.

    Professor Whitegourd soothes the nearest fire, its flames subsiding but the smoke remaining, at least for now. They feel a reduction of the fury, and the barrier between this place and the Finadar forest begin to thin, but feel like it will take more weakening to get you home (i.e. you need to disable more flames to end the hazard).

    With that, Tombu surges forward, up the stairs and right over the top of Krellin, Amiri, and Professor Whitegourd, stopping right next to Erevan!

    Professor Whitegourd and Amiri both dodge the worst of the fiery creature's breath, though some flames cling to both of them. Similarly, the leshy and Erevan both avoid the worst of the environmental effect (no persistent on the environmental, Whitegourd).

    Tombu shakes off the goblin pox inflicted by Professor Whitegourd, though his eyes go cross for a moment as Krellin gives him a headache. He dodges Krellin's strikes, however, as well as those of the leshy's summoned scorpion. Erevan, meanwhile, extinguishes the flame next to him and recalls what he knows about centaurs! Large creatures with hoof attacks and the ability to trample medium or smaller opponents.

    Tombu stomps at Krellin with a hoof, trying to take advantage of the distraction provided by the fiery flapper on the other side.

His body moves in a horrible, unnatural way and then slumps, empty and lifeless, to the ground as a creature seems to wriggle free!     Though the scorpion seems to quake in fear a little bit at the transformation, and seems a little green around the mandibles (frightened 1 and sickened 1, which are both status penalties so don't stack), it still manages to land a sting on the creature formerly inhabiting Tombu, whose defenses seem diminished by its exit from the centaur-suit.

    Fort vs. venom: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (16) + 13 = 29

    The scorpion's poison seems to have no effect, however.

    Reflex vs. tempest surge: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27 I'm assuming you meant Reflex. If you have some ability that makes it a Will save instead, let me know and I'll adjust the results if needed.

    The creature manages to avoid the majority of Whitegourd's storm as well.

    Hopefully it won't matter, but I have you at 11/48, rather than 18/48 as your Status spoiler says, so I went back to check. I believe you have taken 37 damage up to this point:

  • 6 from trample
  • 8 from harm
  • 1 from mephit attack
  • 11 from hoof
  • 4 from persistent fire

    Given how low on hp Krellin is, I just want to make sure we're on the same page, in case it matters.

    Erevan, the penalties from Sickened and Frightened don't stack (same kind of penalty), so I think your Reflex save should have been a 17, rather than a 16 and you should have taken half damage.

    The flip side of that is, since you are sickened you cannot willingly ingest anything, including your mutagen. In light of that, please update your actions.

    @Erevan same roll is perfect. I'm not quite sure I understand what you're saying with the damage, though. Looking at your profile, it seems like it's a regular hand crossbow doing 1d6 damage. How are you getting to 6 total?

    Krellin bludgeons the creature formerly known as Tombu with two quick strikes, while Erevan quickly draws, loads, and fires a hand crossbow, his bolt embedding into the creature with a moist thunk!

    The creature renews its assault on Krellin, hoping to finish off the monk before moving on to another target.
