Corelion
|
Corelion moves up, taking a moment to analyze blue's movement before making another impossibly angled elf strike.
strike vs blue: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
hero point reroll: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
piercing: 1d10 + 4 + 2 + 1d8 ⇒ (10) + 4 + 2 + (6) = 22
Hunt Prey, stride, strike(+ hero point)
| Dungeon Master S - 2e |
Indeed the word is good, and gets to the creature, then her first strike fells the shadowy enemy! She does an end around to set Jraal up.
Corelion tries to finish off the final foe, but the strike is too impossibly angled.
Round 3:
Blue: ATK
White: ATK
Evindal: Go
Voron: Go
Mimi: Kill
Jraal: Go
Corelion: Miss
White: 25
Blue 9
Jraal
|
Feeling stiff and sore, Jraal channels every ounce of strength inside of him.
"YOU'RE GOING TO REGRET ANGERING THE ALMIGHTY APSU!"
◆ Strike
Greatpick, magic weapon: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 8 + 1 = 29
damage: 2d10 + 4 ⇒ (4, 5) + 4 = 13
◆ Strike
Greatpick, magic weapon: 1d20 + 8 + 1 - 5 ⇒ (4) + 8 + 1 - 5 = 8
damage: 2d10 + 4 ⇒ (9, 2) + 4 = 15
◆ Strike
Greatpick, magic weapon: 1d20 + 8 + 1 - 10 ⇒ (7) + 8 + 1 - 10 = 6
damage: 2d10 + 4 ⇒ (7, 4) + 4 = 15
The small little kobold swings as hard as he can, focusing all his attention at the fetchling in front of him.
| Dungeon Master S - 2e |
Jraal finally finds his balance and delivers a singular blow of shocking force. The pick spurts out the other side. Even the other Pathfinders look in shock as the final enemy falls!
Mimi de Valence
|
Mimi watches in awe as the wrath of Apsu, channeled through Jraal, finishes off the last of their enemies. "No need for gratitude, Jraal. I am 'appy to 'ave been of assistence." She winks to indicate that she's speaking facetiously.
Putting away her shortsword, she bends down and does a quick search of the corpses. "So deez are creatures of shadow like dose big mosquitoes dat attacked us in de market. Vhat vould deez shadow beings vant vith Iobarian relics? Strange, no?"
Mimi then stands. "Speakeeng of Iobarian relics. Shall ve see if dey are 'ere somewhere?" She then systematically searches the tavern interior for any sign of the relics.
Evindal Mog
|
Evindal cocks his arm, ready to hurl another bomb, but slowly lowers it to his side as he admires the kobold's handiwork.
Voron Keyphyra
|
Voron exhales in relief as the last one goes down. He leans on his staff and sighs.
Well, they were quite... tenacious, weren't they?
After a few moments he comes out of his post-battle-decompression phase and acknowledges Mimi's remark.
It is strange. Do you think they were the ones who wanted them, or were they placed to guard them, being stolen fair and square.
Voron begins to tiredly walk around looking for where the relics might be kept. First he checks behind the bar and if not there, he checks the tables on the elevated floors, and final other tables, over the fireplace mantles, and so on.
Voron detects magic as he searches.
Mimi de Valence
|
Mimi pauses in her search to consider Voron's question. After a second or two of thinking, she shrugs. "Bof! I do not know. Vhy go to de trobel of 'ireeng fetchleengs to garde your loot vhen dere are plentee of local scum easlee availebel to do de vork. But magic ees not my strong suit. Dat ees more your line of vork, Voron, no?" She then gets back to her searching.
Mimi's magical abilities are practically non-existent. The Shadow Plane whence these creatures originated and how easily they might travel back and forth to the Material Plane is something that requires Recall Knowledge using Arcana, which Mimi is not trained in.
Voron Keyphyra
|
Voron thinks on what he knows of fetchlings...
Arcana: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
It is, but the shadow plane is not my specialty. He winces, a little embarrassed at not being ready with knowledge.
| Dungeon Master S - 2e |
High five to Mimi for using the word whence correctly and not including "from"!
The party lowers their weapons. Voron scratches his head, coming up with all manner of wildly ridiculous memories of fetchlings. Corelion finds a bottle that has yet to turn to vinegar.
Looking around the room, there are some magical auras on the floor. IT takes some experimenting, and eventually it seems they're some kind of illusion to make the fetchlings harder to hit, but their exact function is too difficult to ken.
The party wanders over to the area in the southwest. Numerous valuable objects and assorted documents lie in heaps on top of two large tables in this elevated room. The items include assorted art objects such as statuettes, ceremonial weapons, and jewelry, as well as a few precious stones. Arcana, Crafting, Lore (Iobara), or Religion checks can grant more.
Mimi de Valence
|
Did I mention that Arcana wasn't Mimi's strong suit? Well, it turns out she's not all that great at Crafting, Lore (Iobara), or Religion either.
Mimi looks over the collected loot. "I do not know vhat I am lookeeng at 'ere. Are deez de misseeng Iobarian relics dat Seshuun requires so badlee? Perhaps eet might be préférable to take eet all to de muséeum and let 'er decide."
Evindal Mog
|
Correct usage of "whence" has to be worth a hero point! :-)
Evindal has +8 for Arcana and Crafting, +5 for Religion
Evindal does his best to sort through the haul, looking to see whether any of the items are the ones they are looking for.
Jraal
|
Jraal pokes around at the fancy art objects. "I don't know what these things are either." The typical kobold has no sense of art. He picks up a statuettes and tosses it in the air. "Not as heavy as I would've thought."
No Arcana, Crafting, Lore (Iobara), or Religion.
Voron Keyphyra
|
An illusion... but it didn't make them so hard to hit that we couldn't handle them.
Still, he's frustrated that he doesn't get it immediately. He moves towards the tables on the elevated floor with all manner of papers and objects.
There must be something in this pile...
Arcana +8 (+9 to checks to Identify Magic and to Decipher Writing of a magical nature.), Crafting +8, Religion +7 (+8 to checks to Identify Magic and to Decipher Writing of a magical nature.).
| Dungeon Master S - 2e |
The items include assorted art objects such as statuettes, ceremonial weapons, and jewelry, as well as a few precious stones. Voron notes that most of the items are mundane, and some of them are fake objects crafted to resemble items from ancient Iobaria. Corelion also catches that a few of the items possess some sort of latent curse, though it is unclear what the curse might do or why it is not currently active. The assorted documents include detailed tactical information on the Pathfinder Society’s lodges in Andoran, Cheliax, Osirion, Qadira, and Taldor, as well as the Grand Lodge itself, such as guard rotation schedules, pass phrases, entrances and exits, room dimensions, unusual features, dossiers on the lodges’ leaders, and timelines of recent events in those locales.
This looks like it! An interesting find, and it makes more sense why people would be after it. The news can't be good, but for now you just need to return it to the museum.
Voron Crafting: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
Mimi de Valence
|
Mimi is happy to hear that the items appear to be Iobarian, if only partially. "Excellent! Ve should take all dees items back to de muséeum and present dem to madame Seshuun. I expect she vill be most 'appy to see dem. Perhaps eet vill be enough to produce a smile from 'er pretty visage."
Collecting the Society papers, she hands them to Voron. "'Ere, Voron. I beleeve ve should take deez to de Venture-Capitain. I do not teenk dat dey vill be of interest to madame Seshuun."
If the items are too heavy for the group to carry to the museum, then Mimi will hire a cart and charge it back to the Society.
Evindal Mog
|
Evindal is disturbed by the information related to the Society. "Someone means us and our associates ill. This information should be conveyed back to the Grand Lodge."
| Dungeon Master S - 2e |
At the Blakros Museum, Seshuun is glad to see you, and gives a sigh of relief to see you all returning. She is happy that you uncovered what you did, but is upset at the clear identity of the culprits, the Onyx Alliance. She expresses concern for the crew of the Sixwing Drake, and hopes the Society is able to "learn what happened to them—and discover how the Onyx Alliance managed to pull of their heist. Please accept my offer to help you with any information I acquire in the future, but honestly I’ll be quite busy setting up a different exhibit for the foreseeable future." In the meantime, she also intends to speak with her superiors at the museum about the Onyx Alliance, as she knows that group has a complex history with the Blakros family.
At the Grand Lodge, Ambrus Valsin listens to your report. "I agree with Seshuun. This sounds like the Onyx Alliance learned of the shipment, stole it with the help of powerful enchantment magic to manipulate the crew and dockworkers, and then prepared to replace the goods with their cursed items in hopes of setting off some kind of disaster at the Blakros Museum. But why? Why would the Onyx Alliance suddenly be lashing out at the Blakros Museum and the Society? If I had to bet, this has something to do with the similar disruptive events occurring at lodges across the Inner Sea, and the presence of detailed information on the lodges is only further proof that the Onyx Alliance is coordinating these attacks."
Valsin locks eyes with each of you in turn, "Agents, steel yourselves for the missions ahead, as I hope to send you to the lodges under threat in short order!"
| Dungeon Master S - 2e |
Over the next few days, word of your mission spreads throughout the lodge. Other agents learn your names after hearing of your success in recovering the items Primary objective achieved. The stories in the mess hall are also really impressive. While your work with Rains was lack luster, the scuttlebutt is that you really impressed the Blackros agent, and that you crushed it when fighting fire elementals. Rumor has it you even stopped to help in the market after that fight! Enough successes to earn the Secondary achievement.

Congratulations! You've completed the Pathfinder Society Introduction: Year of Shattered Sanctuaries! I'll report the game ASAP, and get chronicles out within 24 hours or so.
| Dungeon Master S - 2e |
I had some time today, so Chronicles are up! Let me know if you need anything changed.
It's been a pleasure! I'll leave the thread open until either everyone confirms or 48 hours. Good luck in your other games!

Thanks for the chronicle, but I'm having trouble seeing where the income we earned is listed. It used to be below the GP Gained field, but the format of the chronicle sheet seems to have changed.
Admittedly, Mimi failed her income roll and only earned 0.08 GP, but every little bit counts.

TBH, I'm not a huge fan of the current chronicle layout. There isn't a clear space in a logical order for the numbers the way I like to track them. You put your own earnings under Downtime now.

Looks good - thanks again for running a fun table!
