As Twila-4 and George 09-23 debate what to do, Kaath keeps his eyes in the direction of the approaching squelching noise. Then, suddenly, he sees the source: oozing forward on the ceiling are a pair of three-foot-diameter dark, aqueous metallic puddles!

ID DC 13 Life Science:
These are ferrofluid oozes! Ferrofluid oozes are pools of ferromagnetic fluids that have gained limited sentience through experimental bioengineering. They are drawn to areas filled with magnets and ferrous metals. Utterly indifferent to organic life, they seek only to collect and consume magnetic material. Technological weapons can be mildly disrupted by their magnetic aura.

DC 18 Life Science:
Ferrofluid oozes can essentially leap through the air to attach to magnetic surfaces--including anyone holding technology! And androids are at the greatest risk, given their construction. But fire attacks can force them to release their hold.

DC 23 Life Science:
Electricity is less useful against ferrofluid oozes--unless it's powerful.

As she steps out the door, Twila-4 sees Kaath standing guard. Unfortunately, being an android, she doesn't notice his tense posture. Completely oblivious to the impending danger, she begins shooting at the motion sensor to her northwest.

Good point on resting. Kaath was only trying to prevent the resting folks or computer programming folks from being interrupted. Not sure when the slither noises started in relation to the 10min rest. r


Twila-4 discharges a blast of electricity into the nearest motion sensor!

No one should feel bad about the interrupted resting--these things were released and started (slowly) moving your way as soon as the Abadarmors were dealt with.

Scruffy has robert-0 move next to Kaath and ready to strike at an enemy that gets next to him. Are there any actual camera feeds to look at or just the motion sensors. If there are cameras scruffy wants to see what's in the hallways


The oil puddles continue moving slowly closer on the ceiling, like ambush predators hoping to catch their prey by surprise!

@Scruffy: Only the motion sensors are useful (if there are cameras, the complete blackout means you couldn't see anything anyway).

@Kaath: It takes 3 rounds to fully attune (and you can only attune in combat). So you've got one round of photon attunement done, but couldn't do supernova until round 3. Do you want to do something else this round instead?

@TK423: Probably only a minute or so has passed since the battle with the Abadarmors.

"<sigh> Of course." With an aggrieved sigh, Twila-4 holsters her static arc pistol and draws her azimuth laser pistol. She takes a step up between the other two androids and peers into the gloom at the incoming oozes. She pictures them dropping down off the ceiling onto her head.

A thought occurs to her. "We should probably split up. <sigh>"

Scruffy looks to see if he can find a way to turn on the lights form this console, then heads towards the door.


The damaged ooze flings itself at the ceiling and lands on Kaath! The solarian bashes it with a glowing manifestation of energy, but to little effect. The other monster continues slithering along toward the bulk of the group, its glistening body leaving a trail of black sludge behind.

Kaath's readied attack hit Blue, but didn't do much damage (there's obviously some DR and/or resistance at work).

Kaath, you take 11 B. The ooze is "attached" to you, which is a special ability. It doesn't give either of you the grappled condition, but the ooze gets a +2 on attacks against you and a cover bonus on attacks against it. You can attempt a Strength check as a move action to pull it off.

@Scruffy: Unfortunately, you don't see any way to control the lighting from the console.

The slug from TK423's semi-auto pistol skims inches above the ooze that's draped over Kaath. But the solarian then pulls the creature off it!

Director Ebaki shouts "Argent must have released those creatures from the lab! I always wondered what went on in there!"

As he speaks, pseudopods lash out toward Kaath and Scruffy!

Kaath steps back 5' and ducks to allow others to shoot, then draws his weapon and shoots up at the blob.

TK423 finds a clear sightline and blasts the ooze into nanobits! But Kaath finds his sightline obstructed, and can't land a solid hit.

Scruffy steps away from the ooze and the fires his cautoject pistol again,

Twila's acrobatic attack hits home, burning the ferrofluid ooze and releasing a noxious black smoke. Unfortunately, Scruffy aims too high as the ooze changes shape to avoid his attack and launches a pseudopod at him! But the brakim somehow sees the attack coming hops to the side just in time.

Twila hit and did full damage, Scruffy missed, and the ooze missed its attack.

I think an investment in some spell gems would be an excellent idea. Casters in Starfinders really do not have a lot of spell slots especially at level 1. :)


Splatters of glistening black material spray the cubicles as bullets and fire blasts impact the ooze. But it hasn't been dispersed yet!

TK423 hit & did extra trick attack damage, and George hit. Kaath missed because of soft cover from Scruffy.

Disgusted with the wasted time, Twila-4 gives the last ooze a deadpan stare as she pumps a shot of fire into the last vestige of its form....

...into the floor a good two feet in front of it. Like a statue, she stares at the spot where she had intended the shot to go, completely flummoxed as to how she could have missed by so much.
