Arlo delays until after the others
Xun feels the stony glance as his body becomes slow and stiff. Still, the bard begins to play his drums beating out an inspiring rhythm that lingers in the air. The creature shies away from Xun’s intimidating glare.
Azel moves up to the eight-legged lizard and creates a magical acidic burst from herself covering the creature in acid. The creature hiss in pain, but is still ready to rumble.
Phineas wondering what the terrible lizard is strikes it with a magical bolt of fire roasting it a bit.
Arlo uses magic to try to calm the unknown beast and is only partially successful. He has no idea what the creature is.
The frightened eight-legged creature bites at Azel and just misses due to its frightened condition.
Kesstraka slowly stands up and backs ways from the creature trying not to panic.
It Gazes at the slowed Xun another he feels another stronger wave as the creature tries to turn him into stone.
The beast stares at a creature it can see within 30 feet. That creature must attempt a DC 22 Fortitude save. If it fails and the creature was already slowed it causes the creature to be petrified permanently.
At the start of Azel’s turn, the lizard glances her way, and the hobgoblin feels the stony glance of the lizard.

Woo, it failed its save, and it did something! I presume hostility continues, so I'm not sustaining it.
"Kesstraka, get away! We'll keep it busy!"
Arlo weaves a spell, and the shadows around him start playing tricks on everyone's eyes. Suddenly Arlo is cloaked in shadow and waves of terror emanate from him. Cast Fear. Will save vs DC 19 to lessen the effect.
And with a final wave of his hand, he casts a Guidance upon Azel. Does not stack with the performance, but could be useful on a save.
Got ninja'd by Azel herself. Still, could be useful in case the thing uses another stare.

Arlo weaves shadow magic around himself creating fearful emanation upon the creature, but it seems unaffected. Then he sustains the calm magic that is affecting the lizard’s attacks.
Xun stares into the eighty-legged lizard’s eyes and he feels himself transform into stone. The Inspiring drum music continues to echo in the room.
Phineas calls out what he remembers about Basilisk followed by a bolt of magic fire that misses the beast.
Azel heroically resists the basilisk’s glance as she calls down lightning from the sky hitting the lizard. The Basilisk manages to doge part of the blast. The Hobbolin then follows up with a punch.

Right, I’m going to need to take statements, but don’t worry it’s obviously you were just defending yourselves and Kesstraka. We will take over here and start an investigation.”

After cleaning up and heading back upstairs.
Returning from your meeting with Kesstraka, you find Eras and Calisro hunched over a table, reviewing the documents you procured earlier and discussing their strategies and options for tomorrow’s audience with the council. Their attention turns to your group.
“Well, seems you’re pretty fair diplomats yourselves,” Calisro remarks by way of congratulations, raising her glass as though in salute. “Having Kesstraka’s support will go a long way towards getting this trade deal in the bag. But the day’s not done just yet. We have one more lizardfolk for you to wrangle.”
Eras rolls his eyes and sighs slightly at Calisro’s comment, before resuming his previous pleasant demeanor. “Other than the fact that they prefer the term ‘iruxi,’ and that we wouldn’t want to imply any disrespect by comparing them to farm animals, my colleague here is correct: there is one more local whose support we hope you can secure. It’s one of the members of the Council of Stars, the ruling body of Ekkeshikaar that we’ll be arguing our case to tomorrow. His name is Lashweather—apparently he gained it in his youth, when he served as a weather mage aboard an iruxi…” he coughs meaningfully “…shall we say, ‘privateering vessel?’”
This time it’s Calisro who rolls her eyes, jabbing Eras playfully in the ribs. “The word you want is ‘pirate,’ Eras. No need to dance around it here.”
Eras frowns uncomfortably. “If we’re too loose with our words in private, it becomes all the easier to slip up and say it in person. And the last thing we need is to offend the man.”
Calisro snorts. “I’ve never known a pirate who couldn’t handle being called a pirate. Hells, it’d probably be a good way to win him over.”
“With any luck,” Eras retorts, “we won’t need to win him over. Our sources indicate he’s predisposed towards our cause, the problem is that he apparently hasn’t been seen in days and isn’t responding to messengers. We’re worried he may not show. Apparently, it wouldn’t be the first time. So, we want you to head to his observatory—it’s a tower on the edge of the city, you can’t miss it—and make sure he’ll be there tomorrow.”
“And try not to do anything that’ll make him change his mind about voting our way, yeah?” Calisro adds playfully.
The pair are willing to answer a few questions if needed.

Xun reports to Eras and Calisro, that the group was attacked by a basilisk in the embassy gardens and asks if there is someone who is working against the cause.
Azel suggests that it was an attempt to stall the negotiations rather than to kill.
Phineas wonders if it was perhaps the garden beautification faction since he did make a gorgeous statue.
Arlo points out that without a supply of fresh basilisk blood they would have been as good as dead. The halfing inquires if Lashweather has any enemies as he treats Azel’s wounds.
Both Calisro and Eras are gravely concerned about the basilisk attack during their meeting with Kesstraka, Eras presses for details ” A basilisk? That does put a more urgent spin on our mission. We knew there were Irux who want to keep isolated from the rest of the world, but I didn’t think they would actually resort to an assassination.”
Calisro counters ” Why use a basilisk? There are safer ways to kill your foes. I think Azel may be right it was an attempt to stop Kesstraka from attending the meeting tomorrow. After which I’m sure basilisk blood would have been conveniently found.”
Eras sighs, ” It makes checking on Lashweather that much more urgent.”
Calisro nods in agreement, ” Let the Iruxi authorities handle the investigation for now. I keep tabs on the investigation, but you should hurry over and make sure Lashweather is well.”
The halfing Arlo inquires if Lashweather has any enemies as he treats Azel’s wounds.
Calisro chuckles at the question ” He wouldn’t have much of a pirate if he didn’t make enemies.”
The group is rushed out the door with their task to check on Lashweather. The trek to the observatory takes about 15 minutes and is largely uneventful.
The observatory takes the form of a spiraling white stone tower, worn smooth by age or craftsmanship, that rises some forty feet into the air before widening rapidly to create a circular platform, covered by a glass dome, creating the overall impression of a giant egg in a stone nest. A set of chimes made from hollowed bones hangs next to the only visible entrance, a round stone door at ground level.
Ringing the chimes at the door gets a quick response as you hear someone coming. After a few moments, the door opens and you see a familiar friendly Iruxi! Lumki smiles and greets you in Mwangi she relates how she was inspired to follow her dream of becoming a great astrologer, so she came to the capital and became Lashweather’s apprentice.

Xun throws a longing look at Calisro and leaves the room
"One day I will ask her out! One day!" a fresh air quickly changes his mood to more chearful.
When he sees friendly Iruxi, Xun hugs Lumki with actual joy
"Ha, that is an unexpected but very pleasant surprise. We actually came to meet Master Lashweather, but before we do that tell us how are you? Any more unexpected events after we dealt with that gargoyles?"

Xun is delighted to see Lumki and gives her a hug.
Phin gives Lumki a big smile glad to see her.
Azel gives her a warm greeting and asks about her research.
Lumki is glad to see everyone, she tells the group that the village is thriving without the threat of the gargoyles. She tells Azel that she hasn’t made any new discoveries but she hopes to learn much from Lashweather.
When the group asks to meet with Lashweather she happily takes you to the top floor of the observatory.
It seems as though every inch of space in this cluttered tower is spoken for. Rising from cramped living quarters on the ground floor, successive floors require navigating a narrow, meandering path between pieces of furniture piled nearly to the ceiling with books and tomes on astrology, astronomy, and weather patterns, both magical and mundane, as well as star charts and the various tools used to make them. Only on the top floor is there any space to speak of, with the various desks and tables all pushed to the edge of the circular room, leaving a large circle in the middle where various constellations have been inlaid into the stone floor in silver.
Lumki introduces your group to the Ekkeskikaar’s head astrologer, ” Master Lashweather these are the Pathfinder heroes that saved my village and me.
Lashweather nods indifferently, ” Yes, yes all very interesting." He continues to consult his telescope and various charts, notes, and books while he speaks ” it is vital that I complete the observations and perform the divination to determine what lies in store for the city and help them prepare. As the head astrologer, I am currently observing a very rare celestial alignment that won’t be concluded until after the council meeting is over."

Xun walks up the stairs glad that Master Lashwaeather is ok.
"Master Lashweather, we understand the importance of your work, but also would love to see you at the council meeting. Is there any way that we could help with your work? Our experience with Lumki is that she is an extremely capable astronomer, maybe she can observe the celestial alignment when you would join us at the meeting?"
He breaths in the air and asks ghosts to aid him. Guidance on Xun

Arlo agrees with Xun. "Yes, we've seen Lumki in action before, she's an excellent astronomer. I mean, obviously not as good as you are, but you did sort of promise to attend that meeting. Ooh, or maybe you can send Lumki to the meeting as an intermediary, would that be possible? In that case you can stay here and we all profit!"
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25

Xun asks Lashweather if there is anything they can do to help him. Perhaps Lumki could do the observations.
Phineas offers to assist with the observations.
Arlo suggest that Lumki could do the astronomy
Lashweather shakes his head ” While Lumki is a fine astrologer, I am afraid she is not ready to take this task on, and to send her to the council would not achieve the desired effect, but there is another divination ritual that I can perform that would gain the same sort of insights as I would gain from observing the celestial convergence. It’s known as the cho’aatan, the dangerous ritual that requires bodyguards to protect the caster from rogue elementals that are conjured as a byproduct of the ritual. If you are willing to serve as bodyguards I will attempt the ritual, if we succeed then I will be free to attend the council meeting tomorrow.”

"Er, what sort of elementals? Big ones? And which element? Might be good to prepare ourselves against fire and cold if we know they're going to show up."

Xun nods his head.
"Yeah, it would be wise for us to prepare. What can you tell us about the dangers?"
