With light cast on his clothing, Arlo is too giddy about the temple to notice the Mephits in time to act.
Phineas is distracted by Arlo’s glowing clothing.
Acting quickly Azel has no problem moving across the oil-slicked floor to attack the blue Mephit smashing it twice with her staff the second blow is a critical hit. The blue Mephit spits out some teeth and grins at the hobgoblin.
Xun begins hitting his drum creating a toe taping fist smacking tune to rumble too. Then uses his magic to send a stone flying into the blue Mephit, just bearly hitting it in the chest.

Onyx avoids the worst of the steal breath weapon, while Xun avoids all damage. The Half-Orc uses telekinetic magic to sling another piece of rubble at the blue Mephit hitting it hard. Then shield himself with magic. The blue Mephit is still alive.
Azel avoids most of the damage from the blue one’s breath, then strikes back hitting twice really hard. It falls to the ground dead as Azel continues to punch and yell at it.
Phineas isn’t as lucky as the others and takes the full effects of the breath as well as bleeding wounds. The sorcerer sends a bolt of fire at the green Mehphit barely hitting it. It screeches as the flames wash over it. The wound bleeds just a little before stopping.

After the battle with the Mephits the group rests up and bandages themselves, talking about the battle. Onyx takes point watching for more foes.
After 20 minutes the group starts looking around, to the left, the group finds a room is covered in a thick layer of dust, with the vague outlines of large pillows and other furnishings seemingly the only remains that the years have left to indicate what this room might once have been.
Lumki muses that it must have been the receiving hall where visiting Iruxi would lounge on large throw pillows while awaiting their turn to use the observatory’s telescope.
Continuing to explore the Oldstar Observatory your group finds the main center chamber.
This expansive chamber, though ancient and crumbling, was obviously once a beautiful sight. The high stone walls are carved with ornate designs depicting Iruxi gazing up at the night sky, and the decayed ceilings show the remains of what were once detailed depictions of the night sky.
A large platform situated in the north-central area of the hall once held a massive copper telescope aloft on a ridged base that allowed for various adjustments, but now the telescope lies in ruins, much of it apparently scavenged over the years. A platform with a rotating base sits near the opening in the wall that the telescope would have protruded through, its mechanisms long fused into a mass of rust. A soaring sheet of green-tinged bronze covers the majestic entryway on the eastern wall.
Each step into the observatory elicits crackling and groaning sounds from the floors and walls. The building seems solid enough, for the moment, but a jarring impact or damage to the ceiling’s supports might be all the impetus required to bring the building crashing down.
The gargoyle Paravaax rests in this chamber, perched on the edge of the central, pyramidal platform. His body is a solid, matted black statue comprised of pure lodestone. This close to his resting form you can feel the magnetic currents swirling around the gargoyle pushing and pulling at your gear.
There is also one steel mephit in the room keeping guard while Paravaax rests.
The rays of the setting sun can be seen shining in through holes in the building

Paravaax studies your group for a moment, ” Still your bravery deserves recognition, How about this? I’ll strike you a deal. I’ll leave of my own volition and stay gone for five years’ time… If you leave me that Iruxi as a snack.” He points to Lumki licking his teeth with his tongue.

The bard scowls on Onyx being smacked.
Xun keeps on drumming, inspiring others.
Lingering composition, inspire courage, DC20: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13 Oh Darn it!
The music does not stick around, could be the gargoyle or the acoustics of the chamber.

Damage, bludgeoning, inspire courage: 1d8 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 4 + 1 = 6
Ok, second nat 20 in this fight. Go Zombie, Go! However now we got 1 for damage :(
Then Xun builds a shield of magic in front of him

Oh, I might've confused things on the map. My intent was to cast Calm Emotions on the mephit, not Paravaax, but never mind. The mephit's down anyway.
Arlo moves closer and tries to angle his next spell. "How dare you defile the temple of Gozreh! May he strike you down with rot and blight!"
Cast Sudden Blight. The Zombie would heal from it, right? In that case, I'll try to include him as well. Basic Fort save for Paravaax, DC 19.
Negative energy damage: 2d10 ⇒ (9, 1) = 10
"He's too tough for our physical attacks. Try more magic!"

Xun scowls when Onyx is struck down, he continues to inspire courage. He commands the undead to attack Paravaax. As it shambles up to the gargoyle it gets a claw to the face as it moves to the space below and adjacent to the gargoyle . (special reaction) The slashing wound seems to hurt the zombie more than it would a creature. The uncaring zombie strikes out critically punching Paravaax. The foe Hisses ”You will all die by my hand your resistance is foolish!”
From a distance, the gargoyle looks small compared to the enlarged Mephit. Azel is surprised that the smaller of the two foes is Paravaax. The hobgoblin moves in to attack with her staff, but she misses with both swings.
Phin-Ape hoots and presses his attacks on Paravaax hitting with his second fist. The gargoyle’s skill is hard as a rock, it doesn’t appear that any damage got through!
(Mephit died before Arlo cast Calm, so I retargeted the spell)
Arlo moves closer yelling at Paravaax as he cast Blight magic on the Zombie fully healing it with negative energy. He advises the group to attack it with magic instead of physically.
Paravaax revels in the battle as he bites at the ape/Phin and claws at Azel. As attacks miss, the gargoyle flies back around a column.
(if Azel, Arlo, or zombie can make an Attack of Opportunity he's provoking.)
Anyone within 30 feet of Paravaax can feel a powerful, fluctuating magnetic field that makes anyone wearing armor comprised primarily of metal feel clumsy. Anyone attacking Paravaax with metal weapons, or a weapon whose primary striking surface is metal (like arrows) finds it more difficult to hit him. (metal armor = Clumsy 2, metal weapons -2 status penalty to hit)
Paravaax Clawed Feet reaction to any creature moving into an adjacent square below while he is flying.
