Sara would like to buy living garments granting her a +5 on diplomacy, a belt of incredible dexterity +2, and a buckler. for 9005

Sara Nole |

Wait. I see Thalasou has point-blank shot and a precise shot. If your plan is to go archery, it might be better to let him have the Barb.

Sara Nole |

That works for me!
She will not take living garments (since the bonus conflicts with the ring) and instead get a mithral rapier +1 and make her buckler a +1. She MIGHT survive a combat now :)

Thalasou Eidelhan |

Whew. Lots to catch up on.
I'm afraid that I don't know what the Triumphs are. Either I've forgotten or we never got that far in the game I started.
And crossbow is my weapon of choice so I'd be happy to take Dignity's Barb. Just have to figure out the details for it.
Character is almost done. Just working on gear and then fleshing out some backstory. It was all written once before but my first GM had some ideas about hiding it and not letting others see it so he kept all the written text. Likely I have it in a file somewhere.

Sara Nole |

Our GM posted it helpfully for us a little bit earlier but here it is again. Barb has three triumphs so it has all the abilities listed.
Dignity's Barb. 3 triumphs. Held by Sara.
Barb reduces miss chances from concealment by 5%.
First Triumph: Dignity’s Barb is a +1 darkwood light crossbow and reduces miss chances from concealment by 10%. In addition, once per day when the weapon threatens a critical hit, the wielder can roll twice to confirm the critical and take the better result.
Second Triumph: Dignity’s Barb is a +1 seeking darkwood light crossbow.
Third Triumph: Dignity’s Barb is a +2 seeking darkwood light crossbow. The wielder can use its ability to roll twice to confirm a critical hit twice per day (though he can use it only once on a given critical threat). In addition, the wielder can attempt a lucky shot to foil a ranged attack. Once per day when a ranged weapon attack targets a creature within 30 feet of the wielder, the wielder can shoot Dignity’s Barb at the projectile as an immediate action. He rolls a ranged attack, and if the result exceeds the attacker’s roll, that attack is negated. This ability can be used only if Dignity’s Barb is loaded or if the wielder can use Rapid Reload or a similar ability.

Thalasou Eidelhan |

Ok thanks. What I was missing was what a "triumph" was. I guess it is an optional rule for WftC. I'll read up on it.

GM Fuzzfoot |

Yah - WftC has a whole bunch of "extra" rules. The one I like is these relics - basically they are like artifacts, lost to time and neglect. As you use them to perform heroic deeds, a bit of the power returns, making them more powerful as you go. But each person carrying relics much choose which relic they carry to add a "triumph" to, so it is best if they get spread around so no one is carrying more that one or two.
Not that you should know this, but each of the 6 books has 2 relics you can acquire, and we are in part 3 of book 2. So far, you have found all 4 of those available.

Aerith Lithanel |

Self-upgrading magic items? Very cool! Wish pathfinder had more of those.
--
I have a Witch question:
At lvl 10 Witches can take the Hex animal skin
Which is just really, really cool. Can't imagine not taking that! The ability to turn into an animal at-will is great. Get some custom made clothing to handle being in air, land or water.
My question is whether the Witch can then take the feat weapon shift If not, then I'll likely have to change my handwraps to an amulet of mighty blows, just to ensure that it works when polymorphed.

GM Fuzzfoot |

I’m afraid the feat is out - it is specific to wild shape, not beast form spells.

Thalasou Eidelhan |

I've updated my profile here so I'm good to do. Now I'm just going to catch up on the events on the gameplay thread. I'll probably read the linked gameplay thread too. I don't think that gets me all the way back to the very beginning with this group though.

Capricia Belacrest |

Perhaps Lady Martella could suggest or introduce the new PCs into the party; that would eliminate a lot of the trust issues that otherwise might come into play here.

Sara Nole |

WooHoo! :) Glad to have you back sir.
Where do we want to pick up Aerith and Thalasou? I assume you both have had the 'talk' with Lady Lotheed?

Thalasou Eidelhan |

For Thalasou, how much should I already know about what has happened?

GM Fuzzfoot |

I would say you can know everything, although you need not know much. Valeria would have trusted you (all of the newbies!) - I am thinking you have been at the Betony Estate all along, but just not part of the "away" team. So you can even play it as having known each other for some time. Or you could have been flying under the radar if you prefer, but assume you at least have been living at the Betony Estate.

Thalasou Eidelhan |

I've read through the 10 pages for this gameplay thread. I haven't read the 45 pages on the previous one yet.
Here is my summary for this thread. I think I got the major points.
1) There's an encounter at a pump with ghouls and ghasts, Godspike (spear) is found. Piri dies
2) Head back to Stachys (town)
3) We repair the pump and start draining the swamp, gaining more favor with the townspeople
4) Trial at Onora's pub. Portimer was accused of poaching.
5) The group found him guilty and the punishment was to help rebuild the mill
6) After that, they decide to restore the farms
7) Eregos learned about the Night Swan
8) The group goes to visit Okerra in Pensaris
9) The group hears about The General (a fish) and plans to try to catch it.
10) They eventually find The General and kill it. Sara is swallowed whole but they get her out in time.
11) They taxidermy The General
12) They decide to go to Lauchlein Lake to find the Night Swan.
13) On the way they meet someone (Atratus, a swan maiden) who asks them to clear the lake of the monster.
14) They find an ochre jelly in the lake and fight it
15) They were given the Subtle Mask relic
16) The group went to the Beggarwood and met with the Four Hoods
17) The Four Hoods make an offer but the group declinse since what they want isn't very good.
18) The group decides to go to Jambis to find the missing acolytes.
19) Discovered that the acolytes went to Gold Canyon
20) Discovered a dead body in Gold Canyon and as they approach it they are attacked by a snake
21) After killing the snake they find the two acolytes. One dead, one rescued.
22) Back at the Betony Estate there is a letter from Martella with instructions. Need to get the charter using Gusairne's key, get Count Lotheed to abandon the property
23) Thalasou and Aerith join the group
24) We arrive a the Lotheed Manor.
So we are here to do three things:
1) get the charter
2) get Count Lotheed to leave
3) destroy the teleportation circle
Do I have that right? Also, I missed the relationship between Martella Lotheed and Count Lotheed. I know that Martella was the organizer of the sneaky stuff at the Gala at the beginning but as a player, I didn't get much farther than that. What has happened with her since then?

Capricia Belacrest |

I'd say that's a pretty good summary. 4th thing at the Count's manor is likely to kill Sir Gul Gusairne (some folks may still want to appease the Four Hoods, and his death was one of their demands).
Also, AFAIK the last time we saw Lady Martella was when she installed our group as agents at the Bethany Estate. I think she's the Count's cousin but am not 100% sure. She doesn't like him.

GM Fuzzfoot |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Lady Martella basically employed the group from the very beginning. She is the illegitimate daughter of the prestigious Lotheed noble family. Bartelby Lotheed is her half-brother.
The wealthy Lotheed family has been a strong supporter of the Stavians for almost 100 years. They have a long family tradition of arcane magic, adding to their wealth and prestige.
Martella is the black sheep of her family, being a result of an extramarital dalliance with a Qadiran diplomat. She lacks her family’s gift for magic as well, adding to their resentment.
Despite her family’s disdain, Martella still commands some wealth and has extensive contacts, having attended the Sinora Academia, Taldor’s most exclusive girls’ school.
Her goal is to "restore" Princess Eutropia to power in the land.
Princess Eutropia is the adult daughter of Grand Prince Stavian III and has a scandalous reputation for making trouble and fighting in the streets. Eutropia is a social reformer, eager to establish schools and other public resources for the poor, and remove political or family restrictions for women and various minorities. Rumors have circulated for a decade that her ultimate goal is to overturn primogeniture—Taldor’s ancient law stating that only male heirs may inherit the Lion Throne—and become the first empress of Taldor.
The princess’s reputation for “fighting in the streets” largely hails from her skill as a fencer, a sport she excelled at during her schooling at the Sinora Academia. Many times in her twenties she matched blades with chauvinistic politicians who would otherwise refuse to let her speak or act within political circles, and those early public duels helped her win unexpected support for her later social reforms—as well as a
reputation as an impolite, unladylike brute.
In book 1, Stavian tries to quell any rebellion but in the process starts a civil war that claims his own life. Eleven major claims have been made for the throne by various nobles claiming relations to the Stavian line. Two candidates in particular—Princess Eutropia and High Strategos Maxillar Pythareus—stand above the rest, and various nobles and polities have already begun arguing that their chosen scion is the true inheritor of the Primogen Crown.
Princess Eutropia has asked you to help her gain power, or at least prevent the war-mongering Pythareus from gaining it. (Also, many of you have personal reasons for wanting Pythareus punished). Martella is her confidant, and your benefactor. in book 2, you were to try and help bring allies and resources to your cause, and now we have progressed to the point where you (collectively) believe you can give the Princess more credibility by restoring the Palace of Birdsong to her control.

Eregos Villarius |

Are we all disguising ourselves as servants? Cause I have a Many Guises social talent that I need the GM to approve "servant" as an option for.

Eregos Villarius |

Excellent.
I will be traveling beginning tomorrow through Tuesday, and will have only my phone. Please bot me as necessary.

Sara Nole |

Pausing for a moment to see if people want to keep exploring, looking for the library, the key, and the teleportation circle... or to try and take Lotheed by surprise... in hopes to subdue without drawing EVERYONE.
Thoughts?

Capricia Belacrest |

Sorry--I meant to post sooner. Was sort of waiting to see if any of our casters had a nice area of effect spell to unleash on the Count and his cronies. Capricia will be moving in to attack if not.

Thalasou Eidelhan |

I think that the rest of us are still downstairs. Maybe Sara should could come back down to tell us what she saw. It looks like there's more upstairs that we could explore.

Sara Nole |

Oh, hmmm, I do see the tokens still down there, but Fuzzfoot had said "Despite the "crowd" of servants" so I am unsure. Sara will come back and let you all know, if you are not with her.
Yes, plenty more to explore. The balance is that everyone we might run into might risk raising an alarm. So do we take the surprise attack now that we might have or keep looking in hopes it will allow continued stealth or provide a way to convince the Lord to leave without killing him.
No idea really. I believe Capricia is in favor of taking him out now. She isn't very fond of him.

GM Fuzzfoot |

I did assume some if not all would be following up, but it wasn't clear from lack of movement on the map. In either case, it seems you avoided an immediate confrontation and can regroup in the stairwell or one of those SR rooms.

Capricia Belacrest |

Heh. I assumed we were all together as well but was letting Sara do the talking. I vote we take the fight to the count immediately.

GM Fuzzfoot |

It is up to you - I can't believe you all marched right up to him!

GM Fuzzfoot |

Assuming you can stealth your way back, this should work.

Sara Nole |

So... we attacking? People with a poop stealth can stay back until the fighting starts. Sara could distract them if we are worried otherwise about getting close before attacking.

Eregos Villarius |

I'm back. Sorry about the additional delay.
If we're going to try ganking Lotheed now, we need to get in position to keep him from fleeing. He's got some spellcasting ability, doesn't he?

Capricia Belacrest |

Yeah, like most Lotheeds, he's a spellcaster who looks with disdain upon non-casters.
Not sure how we keep him from fleeing; from the map, it looks like trying to get behind him might require getting through the rest of the palace unscathed and without raising some sort of alarm.

GM Fuzzfoot |

Sorry - everyone only gets their move action from the surprise round, then Lotheed won initiative.
