Buddy walks with all his arsenal ready and he positions next to the doors leaving the room.
"Hey Joe? Joe, come here take a look at those rocks, are they anything special? Like holding magical energies?"
I will bot Joe to do the rolls at the end of my day. Unless Joe rolls for himself, or someone else makes the Perception check

Examining the battle damage
You recognize the marks as from both laser and bullet fire.
***
Examining the samples (MA-053-07 & MA-053-07)
You identify that they contain platinum deposits
You notice that some of the metallic pieces are likely starship fragments rather than asteroid rock.

But why are there starship pieces among the rocks? All I know is that they don't look like shimmerstone

![]() |

"Starship pieces? Maybe they were collecting samples of asteroids and they contained some debris from the ships? There were supposed to be some alien ships around here right?" says rather quickly Buddy.

Joe Bones walks to the belt, grabs a sample and scans it with her microlab
Then very quickly she begins to say
"Almost all meteoroids contain extraterrestrial nickel and iron. They have three main classifications: iron, stone, and stony-iron. Some stone meteoroids contain grain-like inclusions known as chondrules and are called chondrites.... But this contains deposits of platinum..." Took some description of meteor composition ;)

Sorry....been hectic...came back from vacation to have to buy a freaking house (long story)...so been kinda out of it this week.
Joe has been walking behind the rest of the skitters, having what can best be an existential crisis, seeing a research station apparently been on lockdown(?), and wondering what might have been happening.
When she finally focuses enough to realize what she is seeing it seems to wake her up.
Thanks for Botting me....as I said...been a crazy week. Is it sad I am LOOKING forward to getting back to my work???

![]() |

Platinum? That's rather rare isn't it?
She then starts doing calculations of how many skittermanders can fit in an airlock.
I suppose we could all get in on one cycle if we stacked up she concludes.

![]() |

Joe nods, "Yeah, platinum is pretty rare and expensive...not as much as some star metals like adamantium, but still up there. Probably closer to gold in value than adamantium."
Seeing the airlock door Joe hmms..."I think we all can fit, we are skitters and not as big or tall as humans or vesks. Might be a tight fit though...but probably best if there is something bad on the other side...."

There is always room for skitters!
How many skitters does it take to fill an airlock?

"Oh, this could only go extremely terribly. Maybe we should test it with one or two first?" Mujina says stepping into the airlock and putting up some of his free hands.

Mujina and Ayoka get in the airlock and ready for any trouble on the other side - as the door locks and the other begins to open there is a blast of electrical discharge!

"I am sorry that must have hurt. I am sure Joe can do something about it." Buddy comes closer to Ayoka and lowers his voice
"But ask for pills and not syringes. Sometimes the needle hurts more than it helps." says dead serious Buddy as he begins to look through the room full of items.

"There you go, all right as rain. Though Mujina, why is it you and Buddy that always seems to get hurt the worst? Speaking of, Ayoka, are you okay?
"Buddy, are there any medicinal items that look useful? If you think so, I can come over an look to make certain they are not expired or tampered with....we can never be certain about this now...."

You take a break and poke around.
The toilets and showers are functional. The lockers contain a total of 10 space suits, though three are torn beyond repair. One of the showers contains an empty bottle of shampoo with “STOP USING MY SHAMPOO” written on it.
Poking around you find the contents of a first aid kit scattered across the floor. This consists of three medpatches, a basic medkit, two mk 1 serums of healing, and a chemalyzer.

Still, she looks around for anything that would give a better indication of what happened, like trying to figure out why those space suits are all torn up.

As Buddy reassembles his smoke grenade he begins to pick up the thrown around medical supplies. He takes one medpatch as they can come up handy.
"Oh look! This medpatch has even a manual for skittermander."
He clears his throat and reads
"If you find a nufriend in need of assistance, someone who has made a booboo, you need to remain calm and all-six the situation. Look around if there is any skilled professional to handle the situation for you..." Buddy stops reading clearly angry
"What kind of crap is this!"
Buddy is ready to go after Mujina & Ayoka are rested, if they wish to.

Looking ahead you see a room with two cells. The two holding cells in this hallway can hermetically seal a worker exposed to contaminants (or detain a hostile creature). "Good thing too! I might need that by the time this is over...we had buckets of antiseptic we would poor over each other in the arena..." Mujina says grumbling as he gets back up to his feet and rejoining the others.

"Thanks Szama, Squizzer and Buddy....let's see...more healing for Mujina and Buddy is always good."
Joe keeps in the middle of the pack, all her weapon are now out....

Buddy looks at the others
"How do you think, who made the trap in between the doors? I would guess that it was the team that we were supposed to replace here. That means that there could be more such traps around here. They could have used guerilla tactics to fight larger forces."

Ayoka manages to get into the computer system.
The screen background changes to a photograph of a male drow and older female human smiling together in a garden - it seems it is an image of Dr. Renou’s parents.
Millie is fascinating. She’s extremely intelligent and gentle. She allowed me to take a few DNA samples in exchange for some of Havar’s sicklefruit. She loves those fruits, which is good because that gives the rest of us an excuse not to eat them. The food we’re giving her seems to have no negative effects on her system, though biologically she bears few similarities to Pact Worlds fauna and likely originates somewhere much further away. If we can identify where her species may have originated, it will give us a better idea of where these starship fragments came from.
Joe Bones gets to work on the samples.
The samples are microbe samples discovered on one of the charted asteroids. The scientists have clearly found something.
Checking the medical cabinet, it contains a needler pistol, a standard syringe stick, and 3 doses of tier 1 sedatives.

Mujia looks ahead.
Surveying the wreckage inside this room, it’s possible to ascertain that it once functioned as a laboratory. Shattered computer monitors and bent pieces of equipment lie scattered on the rocky floor. An upended tray of rock samples clutters a workstation at the center of the room. Smashed planters leak potting soil mingled with pieces of rotten green fruit onto the floor. More of this odd fruit hangs ripe from a woody shrub in the intact planter to the east.

Buddy walks around the room and reaches for the previously found chemalyzer and checks the odd fruits.
