The map differs greatly with my ideas of how I imagined it... stand by for undated plan
The wizard walks around to the north and to the west following the fence line, and found a significant gap. Maybe not something he'd want to try to squeeze through but big enough for something else...
He reached into an inner pocket and pulled out something small but seemingly delicate then opened his palm, revealing a largish scorpion.
He put it on the ground and allowed it to scuttle through the gap.
He turned to the others and held up a finger, indicating a need to wait.
-The mighty Scorpius Viatis, victor of a dozen or more scorpion on scorpion duels scuttled into the compound for a look around. Not needing to worry about birds under the blanket of nights darkness he moved swiftly along the fence line to the building, up the buildings wall and along it. It sat there for a very long moment before hurrying back to his master.-
The wizard stooped and took up the insect, then watched it carefully and sighed.
Theres really not a place for the dog to flee to... but we can still hope to distract it badly while our warriors go through the noisy gate, while the aforementioned skunk does his thing. Irrespective there will be dog noise as a result. Alternatively? I can use my little friend to make the dog curious enough to come over to this gap, maybe with some food thrown over the wall to boot and we can then try to shoot the hound through this gap and hope we silence it quickly enough.
Maybe even combine the two? If anyone has any lubricant and skill with mechanics perhaps the noise of the hinges could be mitigated while the dog is distracted... then you won't have the dog being noisy as it faces problems of its own until it can be dispatched.
He straightened.
Which plan do you favour or have you another alternative suggestion? I am new to working with you so don't want to step on any toes.

Map is read-only for me. Can't move my token.
Masin commented "I would prefer to avoid violence towards animals, but if it's the only way, fine. But I think all that is needed is that the dog is drawn away to the other side of the fence."
Jarithe the Hunter
|
Jarithe looks at the opening and says I can get a couple of shots off at that dog bug I am not sure if that alone will silence it. Jarithe then pulls a knitted rope and a grapple and wraps the grapple in cloth and ties it to the rope and swings it up on the roof with a clunk to see if he can catch it on the edge and climb up using the knotted rope on top of the building.
grapple to grab on to something on the roof: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
stealth: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
ah dice
| Mazer Afin |
Mazer shrugs at the idea of the skunk. "Sounds like a good idea. If push comes to shove, we can always kill it." Though he's a druid, Mazer cares little about domesticated animals.
Talking about strategy, Mazer thinks. "I also can summon a cloud. Or a mist. That could provide us with some cover as we sneak in. Just say the word."
Mazer can cast Obscurring Mist if needed
Masin Yambuter

Masin says "Very well then, I believe we can start. Try to get the dog to go the other way."
| GM Spazmodeus |
Apologies for my absence, had to suddenly wrap up a project I was working on..
Cimri looks at the hole in the wall, then at the scorpion in Luccinus's hand, considering the options presented by everyone.
She then watches as Jarithe noisily climbs up onto the roof of the beamhouse.
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
The dog in the yard notices and comes running over towards the beamhouse, barking furiously. Cimri crouches down and motions everyone else , especially Jarith up on the roof , to do the same....holding a finger to her lips.
The dog barks some more, then comes to the small gap in the wall , sniffing furiously.
You all hear a door open and a man call out, "Abbie, what you barkin' fer? "
The dog whines a bit then runs back into the compound, where you hear the man talking to the dog, giving it pets and 'good dogs'.
The man, persumably Lousik, returns to his office and the dog settles down.
Cimri glares up at Jarithe then looks to Luccinus and Mazer, waving her hand, "Do whatever you need to do...but that dog's got to go."
Masin Yambuter
|
Masin says "If it has to be done..." and gets ready to kill the dog when it approaches. He arms himself with two daggers and nods to the others, letting them know he's ready.
| Mazer Afin |
Mazer stands by Masin. "It has to be done, yes.". Mazer pulls out his spiked chain and wraps it around his wrist. He closes his eyes and says a little prayer to the Midnight Lord.
"Obscuring mist? Or should I entangle it?". Mazer is not used to working with others and is unsure about strategies. "If it were me, I'd mist that beast, then sneak in and slit it's throat while it's confused.". He gives the others a quick glance, estimating their combat abilities. "But I'm not sure that'll work with others here."
Mazer will prepare to cast obscuring mist. If no one stops him, he'll try to center it as close to the dog as possible.
Luccinus de Concorezio
|
I believe the dog MIGHT actually help us... the master may grow annoyed with the beast and refuse to pay him heed.
Let me do the skunk thing. I'll have him chase it to the other side of the yard while we scale here. The master will come out, find the dog alone, for I will dismiss the skunk and think the dog stupid. Then you use mist and kill it.
He awaits consensus.
Masin Yambuter
|
Masin finds Luccinus' proposal interesting. He asks "But who is to say how many times it will take for the owner to ignore the dog? Can you guarantee a diversion that often?"
| Aramant Drakkuskail |
Just shoot the beast, if any of you has something to do so. You see, it's old and already lived a long life. I can see his back left leg is clearly hurt... The creature is in pain and likely isn't properly fed. We will be doing it a favor... Take it out of its misery already.
Bluff: 1d20 + 3 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 3 + 4 = 26
Lying to his teeth. He has no idea of how old the dog is, neither he saw a hurt leg. He's simply too practical and impatient :)
Luccinus de Concorezio
|
The academic cares not for the plight of the animal but just shrugs and starts trying to climb the rope up...
climb: 1d20 ⇒ 1 but just strains as his arms are totally incapable of even pulling his feet off the ground. He's clearly NEVER climbed a rope before.
Trend of crappy rolls across various games continues
| Mazer Afin |
Mazer joins the others up on the roof, slowly climbing the rope. "May your aim be true," he says as he nods to the archer.

Can I chug my extracts now instead of earlier? There has been more discussion before the action and I don't want to waste the 1 minute duration.
Masin readies his crossbow and once the action starts, he shoots.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
Sneak attack damage: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 4) = 10
Luccinus de Concorezio

With a little direction from his new allies he climbs on the roof and throws a ray of frost at the dog...
Ranged touch attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15 for 1d3 ⇒ 1

Once everyone attacks the dog, Mazer will try to obscure the scene.
Will cast Obscuring Mist after everyone else attacks, as to not interfere with their attack

Yes you can... your damage should have been 1d8 for the crossbow plus 1d6 sneak attack...

your damage should have been 1d8 for the crossbow plus 1d6 sneak attack...
Sadly, shrinking greatly improves my to-hit bonus, but my crossbow becomes small as well, shooting pathetic bolts.
| GM Spazmodeus |
Ah yes....just break out your damage separately from now on please :)
Masin's bolt strikes the dog at a high angle, almost pinning it to the ground. It's surprised yelp of pain is muted somewhat by Luccinus' freezing ray.
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Cimri rises at the edge of the roof and casts a dagger down at the dog, but her weapons sticks into the ground beside the dog. Cursing, she turns to Jarithe and Aramant, hissing "Finish it off!"
Jarithe the Hunter

Jarithe shoots twice at the dog attempting to finish it.

Mason, I have a masterwork bow from being a noble and when in favored terrain of urban another +1 plus I at height for a third +1. Using every advantage and planning can get around that until it adds
| Aramant Drakkuskail |
Aramant just holds for now, hoping his ranged companions can deal with the animal. At this point, he could afford anything truly relevant to use to attack enemies at a distance, and he just plain refuses to carry a sling around. Halfling weapon!, he thinks, mockingly.
| Mazer Afin |
Mazer watches as his companions shoot at the dog. "Ah, what a waste." He mutters to himself.
"Are we ready to move in now?"
Luccinus de Concorezio
|
Given our new companions seem very very accurate? I'd say so...
He slides awkwardly to the edge, gradually lowering himself, allowing legs to dangle and then drops down into the yard.

Masin moves in quickly, taking a peek into the house.

Jarithe's first arrow catches the dog square in the chest. The pathetic canine attempts to drag itself towards it's master in the office, but only makes it a foot or two before laying down and breathing it's last.
"Excellent" Cimri breathes, then joins Masin in decending into the courtyard and approaching the office.
Once there, she gathers you all around, "Remember, we don't necessarily want to kill the old man, knock him out if we can. "
She then turns to Masin, about to ask him what he saw, but as he peeked inside he overbalanced and knocked his head into the glass, making a loud sound.

Louslik: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
You hear a voice from inside say loudly, "What's that dog up to?" and a few quick steps on the wooden floorboards, followed by the door lock being opened, the door itself is flung open!

The wizard summons the aforementioned devilish shunk summoning it beyond the open door in the room beyond...
That should create confusion if nothing else... he thinks.
| Mazer Afin |
Mazer sees the man open the door and is quick to react.
"Aramant. You know what to do." The dwarf whispers into the tiefling's ear. "Let the Midnight Lord guide your actions."
Cast Guidance on Aramant.
Masin Yambuter

Masin tries to stay out of sight. He is not strong enough to make people go unconscious, all he knows are anatomical places to stick his knife in. He tries to take a look inside, to see if there's anyone else in the construction.

Cimri doesn't wait for Louslik's answer to Jarithe's demand and runs up and attempts to smash her sap into Louslik's face. With a sickening thud she connects, jolting the man's head to the side.
He recovers, holding the side of his face, "Cimri Baelish, what are you doing?" he asks, bewildered.
As Luccinus begins his spell, Masin peeks into the office...
You see the usual trapping of an business office: desk, a few chairs. Antique leather tools and patterned leather line the walls. In a far wall another smaller dog gnaws unconcernedly on a pigs foot.
Aramant is up...
| Aramant Drakkuskail |
Aramant advances and tries to punch the man down with the hilt of his sword - no need for murdering, in his mind - but his attack goes wide.

Mazer sees his chance. He shambles up to the man and touches him on the elbow. "This might hurt," Mazer whispers to him, secretly rejoicing he can share some of the Midnight Lord's blessing.
Move up 20ft, then touch the man, using Touch of Darkness.
Touch of Darkness vs touch: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21

As in discussion, sorry for the delay!
As Aramant emerges from the darkness, Louslik frowns again in recognition, "You as well, Aramant...your Uncle would be so disappointed!" he exclaims.
Perhaps, it was Louslik's admonition, but Aramant's blow goes awry.
Suddenly, an arrow blossoms in the tanner's shoulder, a burst of blood spraying behind where the arrow head emerges.
The tanner gasps in pain, then gasps again at Mazer's touch , his hands going to his eyes ,trying to brush away the dark shadows that appear there.

Prett sure my summoned skunk... a diabolical one, goes off inside the room.
It advances on any inhabitants of the room and sprays them with musk.
Round 1 of 2.
Up to twice per day, a skunk can spray a stream of noxious musk at a single target within 10 feet as a standard action. With a successful ranged touch attack, the creature struck by this spray must make a DC 11 Fortitude save or be nauseated for 1d4 rounds and then sickened for 1d4 minutes by the horrific stench. A successful save reduces the effect to only 1d4 rounds of being sickened. A creature cannot use the scent ability as long as it is affected by this musk. The save DC is Constitution-based, and includes a +2 racial bonus.
