Hello everyone. Welcome to 1-12: The Burden of Envy. Here's a couple of ground rules to get us started:

1. Please post at least once a day. If you are absent for 24 hours I'll send you a PM. If you're missing for 36 hours I'll mark you inactive and your Player Character will simply delay - that's not fun!

2. Under your name, please add a stat block, so I can quickly find your stats and keep the game moving. You can edit your character's Race, Class/Levels and Gender fields to include information such as:

- Hit Points
- AC
- Saving Throws
- Perception Bonus

3. What about Secret Rolls? PFS 2nd ed has a lot of secret rolls the GM is supposed to make for the players, so the PCs can't react to a bad roll. If I give you the DC, feel free to make the roll openly. Otherwise, there are 2 ways to do this in my games:

- You can say which skill and which bonus you want to apply. (Example: "I use Occultism +5 to investigate the skull's mystic origin.")
- Or you spoiler your dice roll and everyone sticks to the honor system of not opening it.

Example Occultism roll:
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25

If you haven't added Pathfinder specific equipment, I suggest you look at the PFS 2 Society rules, in particular the Pathfinder Training section.

I switched Elfino and Hammick in the marching order. Elfino is rather soft and his weapon of choice is the shortbow, so he tends to do better in the middle order. If this is a problem for anyone, or the consensus is that Elfino (as backup roguey type) is better up front, then switch them back and Elfino will just have to deal with it.

By the way, if others are having trouble with Elfino's way of speaking, let me know and I'll dial it down a little. He's quite capable of speaking standard common, he's just more comfortable speaking the dialect he grew up with in the Puddles.

Pursue a Lead states that:

Whenever you attempt a Perception or skill check to investigate a designated subject, you gain a +1 circumstance bonus to the check. The exact checks this applies to depend on the actions you use to investigate and are determined by the GM, but checks to investigate are typically Perception checks or skill checks that use Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma.

In my posts, I will go ahead and add the +1 to any rolls that I believe fall into this category and that are related to tracking down a target of one of Elfino's (up to 2) active leads.

If GM chadius feels that I am being too liberal in my use of this bonus, then let me know and feel free to ignore it.

There is another investigator feat of Elfino's that I forgot to mention and which might come in handy during this adventure.

He has the That's Odd feat that reads in part:

When you enter a new location, such as a room or corridor, you immediately notice one thing out of the ordinary. The GM determines what it is, or whether there's nothing reasonable to pick up, skipping obvious clues that can be easily noticed without a check or specifically looking for them.

I was all set to make a Society roll for Elfino to Decipher Writing when I noticed that it has the Secret trait, so I left it in an OOC for the GM to roll.

I'm not sure how you (the GM) want us to handle these kinds of rolls. I'm quite happy to let you make the rolls, but if you would prefer us to handle them differently, please let us know.

When it comes to secret rolls, there are 2 methods:

1) You tell the GM what the relevant bonus is

2) You make the roll but you keep it spoilered so I have to click on it to open it.

By the way, if I ever list the DC, feel free to make the roll public. The Thievery check, for example, didn't need to be secret because it would be obvious if you succeeded or not.

Having been corrected with my own Imperial Sorcerer, it appears that only focus spells and granted spells cast from a slot trigger the +1 of Blood Magic. Cantrips apparently are not cast with a slot and so do not trigger the blood magic.

A couple of quick questions for GM chadius.

We were given official papers by Valais that "allow you passage in and out of the city". We now have a terrible forgery of some "travel papers" from Flitch which apparently give us a +2 circumstance bonus to forge better copies.

How do the official papers we got from Valais differ from the travel papers that Flitch forged?

Why would we bother with Flitch's badly forged document when we have an official document available to us to forge that will get us out of the city?

Every PC has official documents that will let them leave on the Merry Mayfly on Friday at 20:00 without trouble.

Anyone else who wishes to board the Marry Mayfly will need documents, most likely forged. Flitch's version looks official from a distance, but it would fail close inspection. You could use Flitch's template as a start, and then fix the errors within.

I just noticed that the slide says that we are to meet Themolin at the warehouse at 17:00, but the post in question states 19:00.

I'm guessing it's the latter, but I just wanted to confirm.

The Remove Disease spell is of the Divine & Primal traditions.

As best as I can tell, Ving and Thurk are Arcane, and Panarug is Occult.

I may be wrong, but I don't believe that any of us can cast that spell from a scroll.

Sorry, I apparently misunderstood the initial conversation our PCs had with Guaril. I thought that Daffrid and family were considered a single "client" with respect to the Rolanna’s Prayer's five client limit. Elfino though would probably not have made that mistake, so if possible, I would like to modify my last post to remove the "and yur kin" to avoid confusion. The rest of the post, including Elfino giving directions to Daffrid as to where to meet in the sewers, can still stand as is.

Do I take it that the Merry Mayfly arriving on Friday does not have a headcount limitation for "clients"? If so, then we might want to consider trying to get the rest of Daffrid's family out by that route. Elfino has already put together one set of fake travel documents, so presumably he could write up some more. Elfino (LN) is not the type to suggest this option. Where smuggling is concerned, he sticks religiously to whatever agreement was made.

One more item. Elfino mentioned Ellvard and asked if anyone had heard of the fellow but got no response. An "Elvard" was mentioned in the very first post by the GM, but I assume that this was more in the way of setting the mood and not something our PCs would actually have overheard. From the lack of response, Elfino will take it that the name does not mean anything to the group... not yet, anyway.

The Merry Mayfly basically has unlimited capacity, but it does run the risk of border patrol. The boat on Thursday has a capacity for exactly 5 passengers.

Right now the opening post just set the mood, so "Ellvard" is just a name.

A Shrink Spell or Shrinking Potion would be great for Seddothrum, unfortunately both are well out of our level and price range.

Might I suggest that we discuss possible methods of sneaking him and any other potential passengers onto the Merry Mayfly in this Discussion thread rather than slow down Gameplay too much? We can always pretend that our PCs did all this brainstorming during curfew.

Normal clients we can get try to get through by using forged documents or bribes (or both), but that probably won't work for Seddothrum. He'll have to sneak onboard somehow. The GM says that the "Merry Mayfly basically has unlimited capacity," so it can presumably handle the weight and size of the giant.

Speaking of which, do we know the approximate size and weight of Seddothrum? If we're going to try and sneak him on as cargo, then we'll need to borrow some form of transportation that can handle his bulk.

Shrink or Invisibility scrolls usually cost 12 gp and are Level 3, so Ving could in theory purchase one if we can find a supplier. Equivalent potions are level 4 items, so we're likely out of luck there.

Good idea to ask Daffrid there Ving. Fingers crossed.

Shrink spell only lasts 5 minutes and Invisibility lasts 10 minutes. I'd hate for either spell to expire before we got Seddothrum onto the boat.

Seddothrum is about 12 feet in height and weighs approximately 1,500 lbs. Something like a horse drawn wagon would be able to carry him.

How indistinguishable is he from a pile of rocks? Could we smuggle him out as if a pile of rubble? Maybe pretend to be work crew clearing some work site.

Does he need to breath? If not, could he walk underwater in the sea some distance out of the city then we pick him up somewhere further?

Seddothrum needs to breathe air. You do know he is able to pretend to be a pile of rocks, as you all walked past him on your way to Daffrid.

Should be doable (and not too expensive) if we only need to hire the cart and team to deliver the "cargo" to the Merry Mayfly. I suspect the owner/teamster will want to come along to drive it though. Doesn't look like any of us know how to drive a team anyway.

Elfino is only considering doing this sort of extra-curricular unremunerated smuggling because he's on a Pathfinder sanctioned mission and that's just what Pathfinders do if they can; help others in need. But he won't do it if it threatens the completion of the mission, namely smuggling the six paying clients out of the city.

The best way to accomplish this is to have five of those six paying clients leave on the Rolanna’s Prayer on Thursday morning. Flitch and Daffrid appear to be a done deal. Assuming we wrap up Theomolin at the warehouse tonight, that makes three. If we can start on (or even take care of) Garrla today, then we basically have tomorrow to nail down Yuleg and his daughter.

Unfortunately, that still leaves one paying client for us to smuggle onto the Merry Mayfly on Friday. The most obvious choice is Daffrid, assuming we're also trying to get her family (and Seddothrum) out at the same time. But there's bound to be more complications with Garrla and/or Yuleg, so time will tell.

That would leave us Friday to figure out how to get the freebie clients smuggled onto the Merry Mayfly
