Welcome to the Agents of Edgewatch Adventure Path!
As a player in this campaign, you’ll get to take on the
exciting role of a city guard in Absalom, the City at the
Center of the World. You’ll be responsible for mediating
interpersonal disputes before they become violent,
protecting the people of your city from nefarious crooks
and rampaging monsters, and arresting criminals who
flout Absalom’s laws. With the safety of the city in your
hands, you’ll need to muster bravery, wit, and heart in
order to see that justice is fairly dealt.
The Adventure Path kicks off at the outset of the
highly anticipated Radiant Festival, Absalom’s once-a century world fair. It’s your first day as members of the
Edgewatch, the newly formed guard unit responsible
for ensuring the safety of not only Absalom’s residents
but also the countless visitors attending the festival.
Your hands might seem full enough at first with just
the matters of the fairgrounds in the partially restored
Precipice Quarter, but as the campaign progresses,
you’ll quickly find yourself visiting many other parts
of the city in order to pursue an increasingly dire
investigation. If you’re looking for adventures full of
high-octane action, intriguing NPC interactions, and
a sprawling urban backdrop, then you’ve come to the
right Adventure Path.

Hello All
Firstly, please allow me to thank each of you for accepting my invitation to this game. This will be my initial GMing PbP game; but we have some really awesome GMs here to help...lol!
This is PF2e. I am opening up this Discussion Thread to allow (and encourage) each of you to get to know each other a bit; cross character concept ideas, and the allowance for learning the system.
Some of us are fluent in PF2e; while others may need to experiment a bit. Ask questions, and let's have some fun!
Archives of Nethys
There is absolutely zero pressure to get it right. Please create a character that you will enjoy playing, that fits the theme of the AP, and can contribute meaningfully.
We can experiment a bit; and, perhaps, even have a remaking process prior to leaving Book 1.

I'm thinking an elf fighter archer, with some emphasis on general mobility. Crits will pin bad guys to walls or the ground. Seem interesting at least.
I'll need to put some time into actually building a character. This is my first PF2e character, but going with a fighter should keep it relatively simple. :D
Commandant Lassard
My gf is totally new to PF. We have been playing Starfinder, so she is familiar with the concept. Most likely, she will gravitate towards a non-caster.
Commandant Lassard
I am very excited to DM this group!
No worries; majority here are newish to PF2; so we can learn together!
Commandant Lassard
My 2 cents:
PF2 is about 4 things: Ancestry, Background, Class and skill feat tree that you like. Unless Rogue; any other class will only get 3 Skills to Legendary. That is why pcs will want to compare which 3 Skills each is advancing.
I suggest looking at the Skills (only 17); pick 3 (many have good combat options; looking at you Athletics) and that is your base for your concept.
I am always willing to help!
This is my go to resource.
Miss Canella
Hello
I am Canella. This is my first game here. I am actually thinking about a Catfolk Champion.

Miss Canella
My 3 Skills that I will concentrate on are: Athletics, Diplomacy and either Deception or Acrobatics, I think.
Commandant Lassard
I am liking the class choices!
If anyone needs advice; that is what this thread is for; we can offer suggestions.
Your DM does hope that each of my new Cadets have read the Player's Guide...
I also suggest that at least 2 pcs be Trained in Medicine. Even possibly, taking Medicine Feats along the way...lol. Also, you do not need be a rogue to be Trained in Thievery...hint, hint...
Commandant Lassard
May need to get a proper hair cut Cadet!
I happen to be preferential to Wizards...Cadet Watanabe!
Seems we also have a furball in the ranks!
What other maggots do we have in this year's sorry excuse for a rookie class?

NONLETHAL WEAPONS
As members of the city watch, player characters in
Agents of Edgewatch must keep in mind the laws of
the city—including limits on the use of lethal force.
Because using lethal weapons is the default assumption
of Pathfinder’s combat system (which imposes penalties
on nonlethal attacks made with lethal weapons), you
might consider making a house rule for this campaign
that unless otherwise stated, attacks by the player
characters are always nonlethal and don’t take the
usual penalty when they use nonlethal weapons. And
of course, player characters should receive full XP
awards for any potential combat encounter they resolve
peacefully, even if they don’t end up fighting anyone.
These are available for purchase at 1st level.
This collapsible baton consists of several nested,
telescoping metal shafts that can be extended as a free
action by flicking the wrist. Once extended to its full
length (usually around 2 feet), the baton locks
into shape until the wielder uses an Interact
action to collapse it—a collapsed nightstick is
8 inches long, making it easily concealed.
Lighter and more maneuverable than an
ordinary club or truncheon, nightsticks
are designed to subdue foes without
causing permanent injury. A
nightstick is an uncommon simple
melee weapon.
UNCOMMON ALCHEMICAL CONSUMABLE VISUAL
Price 3 gp
Usage held in 1 hand; Bulk L
This single-use pacification device consists of finely ground
hot pepper loaded into a sealed, blowgun-style tube with a
one-way valve and a range of 5 feet. To use it, the wielder
must tear open the tube’s seal as an Interact action, then
spend another action to blow the hot pepper into an
adjacent creature’s face. These actions don’t have to be
taken in the same round. The target must attempt a DC
15 Reflex save to avoid inhaling the pepper or getting it
in their eyes. On a failed save, the creature is blinded for
1 round and then dazzled for 1 round. On a critical failure,
the creature is blinded for 1 round, sickened 1, and dazzled
until it removes the sickened condition.
Also called a “slungshot,” the monkey’s fist is a short length
of rope ending in a thick knot wrapped around a metal
weight. You can tie the loose end of a monkey’s fist to your
wrist; if you are disarmed, the weapon remains secured to
your wrist rather than falling to the ground, though you
must use an Interact action to grip it before using it again.
A monkey’s fist is a martial melee weapon.
Commandant Lassard
Also, this will be available at 2nd level.
UNCOMMON ARCHETYPE DEDICATION
Prerequisites Intelligence 14 or Wisdom 14
You become trained in Society or Thievery; if you are
already trained in both of these skills, you instead become
trained in a skill of your choice. You can use Perception
instead of Survival to Track, and you gain the Experienced
Tracker skill feat (Core Rulebook 261).
Special You can’t select another dedication feat until you
have gained two other feats from the this archetype.
Commandant Lassard
I connected the Gameplay Thread for you to Dot and Delete; so that finding the game is easier...
Commandant Lassard
OK. Roll20 is set up for maps and such.
Trik has allowed us to have access to all PF2e materials; so I will create character sheet for each of you there.
It is extremely user friendly (if I am saying that then you know it is true). I recommend creating your character there, along with leveling up; as it is sooo easy.
I am wondering if we can link them to your Profiles here for ease of access, but I am not that smart....if not then we will need to find a good Format for PF2e here.
I will need your emails to send out the Roll20 invites. Either here or PM if you prefer.

I have a profile!
So I take it we're using the rules that all of our attacks are considered nonlethal?
Commandant Lassard
My what a big face you have Cadet Kobold Faktar?
All attacks by pcs and npcs can be lethal or nonlethal without penalty. Your choices will drive the game...

Sweet, can't wait to do some nonlethal Impaling Finishers
Commandant Lassard
Just checking on progress?
Any questions? Ideas?
Here to help...
Commandant Lassard
Absolutely not my intention, guys!
I am just hear to help; if anyone needs a hand?
We start whenever you guys are comfortable and ready.
You know me; I have an addiction...
Faktar
I'm reasonably experienced with 2e at this point and would be happy to answer questions or be a sounding board.
I think I might change my scale color, I'm going over the different dragon spell lists and some of them are way better than others.
Miss Canella
i am practicing. don't laugh...
Miss Canella shoves the Kobold away from her plate.
athletics to shove: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
Having shoved Faktar and stepped with him, Miss Canella attempts to feint him.
deception to feint: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
heropoint: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
Now feinted, the flat-footed Kobold get a cat paw to the face!!!
melee,flat-footed: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 7 + 2 = 291d3 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Miss Canella knocked you OUT!!!
thanks Zak
Commandant Lassard
That was a critical success with the claw for 10 damage!
We at the Police Academy encourage sporting competition amongst our new recruits. Please use your time, as Miss Canella seems to be doing, to practice proposed Actions that your chosen Skills, Feats or Spells may have as options.
You will find that many hide fun gems...lol.
Your transfer to the Edgewatch district is still a bit away, as you fine new recruits are learning which way to properly salut!
DCs are 10+the appropriate skill, save, perception etc.
Miss Canella seems to have been successful with all 3 of her allotted Actions for a Round.
Well played...
Any other recruits have fun Actions to demonstrate?
Faktar
Faktar dusts himself off with a frown and straightens his bib. In a flash, he somersaults through the catfolk's legs...
Acrobatics to Tumble Through: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
Gaining him a state of panache! With incredible bravado, he taunts her!
Intimidate to Demoralize: 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 6 + 1 + 1 = 16
"Never mess with a kobold when DEATH is on the line!"
With incredible precision, he stabs forward with a lethal strike, impaling the lady's corndog on his fork!
Confident Finisher Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Damage: 1d4 + 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + (5, 5) + 1 = 14
The strike is off target, but he manages to graze the corndog for 5 damage!
He quickly pops the small piece that he snagged into his mouth.
Commandant Lassard
Well done, Faktar!
Each pc will have 3 Actions plus 1 Reaction per Round. Each Skill option, Feat, Class Ability, Spell will have a number of Actions require to perform.
Common 1 Action options include: Stride (up to your Speed); Strike (melee or ranged); Step (5' doesn't provoke).
Common 2 Action (called Activities) options include: Most (but not all) Spells; most (but not all) Feat Abilities, Class Abilities etc.
The symbols that follow the named Action/Activities represent the number of Actions required to preform said Action.
Faktar
Made my character in Roll20. Also, if anyone needs inspiration, may I suggest a Shoony Investigator?
Commandant Lassard
Yes. But it will automatically figure out all the related skills, etc.
edit: looks like they are already placed?
Oh, wait! You are referring to Feats, spells, etc?
Trik should have allowed us access to all the source material on Roll20? Should drag and drop from the Compendium. (i)
Still waiting on Parrot....?
May be busy trying to murder my dwarf...again...lol!
Commandant Lassard
Totally optional. I only opened them up those wanting to use it. I haven't found a good format here yet.
Your link should be fine sir.
Faktar
I'll be home alone for the weekend--should be able to make my character then! I'm thinking of a charismatic type, a sorcerer or bard... I hear multiclassing is easier in 2e, maybe some combo that I couldn't do in 1e?
The multiclassing is very different - it's set up as a series of feats you can take instead of taking class feats from your base class, and it's wrapped up with the Archetype system. The whole thing is kind of similar to both Starfinder archetypes and Variant Multiclassing. Each archetype (including the Multiclass archetypes) begins with a Dedication feat that you can typically take at level 2 and then you can't take any additional Archetype Dedication feats until you've taken 2 additional feats from that archetype. A lot of them have ability score prerequisites. They're great for expanding your options but make you a little less focused on your original class. Some of the base classes are a little less reliant on their class feats than others and practically beg to have archetypes applied, and I think Sorcerer is one of those.
Commandant Lassard
Howdy Cadets!
Your friendly--bumbling--Commandant here to say that I invited a 6th player. He is my and Miss Canella's Starfinder GM. He said he will check out our gorgeous new precinct to decide if he will join us.
So, Cadets, let's put on our mean faces...errr....friendly faces and tidy up a bit!
Thank you, Faktar!
Bard--I would suggest--do not take any Dedication Feats, because theirs are sweet!
Commandant Lassard
Welcome to the Police Academe!
Please make sure you get your proper uniform, gear and crewcut, Cadet!
@everybody
I have assigned character sheets to all 6 of you in Roll20. It is optional; but, it is an easy way to build your character.
I will try to find a good PF2e format for here...
Father Emmett Slade
Detective McSlither, your kid-loving Crime Lizard, reporting for duty. (Iruxi Investigator)
Unfortunately, Detective McSlither had some blemishes on his record that were highly problematic. He has been transferred to a desk job in Diobel pending completion of several investigations on his conduct.
In his place, I greet you. My name is Father Emmett Slade, cleric of Damerrich. I've spent the last several years providing spiritual guidance to Absalom's Executioners Guild. We've been extremely efficient in carrying out executions lately creating some downtime. I'd like to use the extra time to join you on this developmental assignment in Absalom's guard. My greataxe is ready to assist!
