| GM bigboom |
You again see that annoying, yet strangely alluring, goblin known as Handsome Gob. However, this time, he's riding on the shoulders of a big, thickly muscled Kasatha - presumably Hi-C?
Both of them have in each of their hands, a series 5 de-atomizer - with six hands total, that's six de-atomizers.
Hi-C lumbers into the room, Handsome Gob's face obviously beaming with joy riding atop Hi-C's shoulders (the goblin has probably never had such a high vantage point before). Before the rat demons can begin launching their attacks on Charles, Aldane and/or Krara, the odd couple (Hi-C and Handsome Gob) launches a barrage of gun fire with all six de-atomizer pistols at the rat creatures, nailing all three of them!!
The red, blue and purple rat creatures explode in a horrible, smelly torrent of blood and guts! More blood and guts are expelled than you would think possible from each of these small creatures! Charles, Aldane and Krara are absolutely drenched, sticky AND stinky from being covered with gooey rat mess.
As the rats explode, Datch takes one quick little half-foot sidestep, completely avoiding the flesh bombs. Remaining clean and pristine, she looks at the dead daemons and mutters under her breath, "rats!"
But her face brightens into a smug smile when she looks over at Charles, Aldane and Krara, tsk tsking at their messy predicament.
Combat Concluded!!!
| Handsome Gob |
"WOOOO!!! Well, that sc-RAT-ched my target practice itch, Hi-C! Whaddaya say we go get some pretzels from the cafeteria??"
| GM bigboom |
And as quickly as the two of them appeared, they disappear down a hallway. How are the two of them possibly bypassing this lockdown???
Yep, the above events are a bit off-the-wall but if continuity is somewhat broken due to the mechanics of a special that somehow immediately ends a combat encounter and fast forwards us in the plot progression, I'm gonna take some liberties with the plot device that gets us there! Hope this doesn't trample anyone's Starfinder sensibilities too much!
Okay, the yellow doors are now open but the purple ones are still locked down. I've relabeled the map with numbered doors. Where would you like to go next?
Door tracker:
- Red doors disabled & unlocked
- Blue doors disabled & unlocked
- Yellow doors disabled & unlocked
Haath Chaar

Datch takes one quick little half-foot sidestep
...and Hi-C steps up and strikes her with the back of one of his hands.
"Whaddaya say we go get some pretzels from the cafeteria??"
"Cafeteria food?? You mean that overprocessed, cheese-covered, extra salty slop they serve in the Spike? Sure. I ain't had my fill of that since last week."
And the pair lumbers off into the distance (where did that sunset come from??)
| GM bigboom |
Nice!! I was also thinking about how to fit a little sunset into the scene...haha!!
And just to be clear, the exploding rat guts is just for flavor. There are no mechanical implications. Everyone came out of that combat encounter untouched so everyone is full up on SP & HP currently.
Alrighty then! Once someone picks a door, I'll advance the scene accordingly!
| GM bigboom |
OR you can split the party and everyone goes through a different door!!! muahahahah!!!!
Chk'tarlsh
|
I'd like to continue on the outer corridor first, so my vote's for 6. But if we're heading for the inner hallway, then I'd go with 3, for no better reason than it's the closest of those options...
"No idea," Chk'tarlsh says, shrugging. "That goblin looked familiar, though."
| GM bigboom |
Door 3 it is!! Tokens have been moved accordingly.
The party falls back into marching order and heads to the central chamber's southern door. Examining the door, you find no traps and have no problem opening the door as it is unlocked.
I posted the boxed text previously but here it is again...
This circular chamber is empty, save for an intricate mosaic on the floor depicts an emaciated rat with red eyes curled in on itself. Sealed metal doors lead outward in all four cardinal directions, with impressive double doors leading east and west, while single doors lead north and south.
Does anyone examine the mosaic? Or does the party make a beeline westwards to the first door on the left, which is currently labeled #9?
Hef Sadir
|
Hef’s eyes glow a bit as he inspects the mosaic.
Perception: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (13) + 15 = 28
Mysticism (t): 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (2) + 13 = 15
| GM bigboom |
No one spots any dangerous traps.
I'm going to assume the party doesn't dawdle and instead moves onwards to the west.
When you attempt to open the doors on the south side of this hallway (doors 9, 10 and 11), they swing open... only to reveal nothing but solid wall!! They're fake doors designed to confuse and obfuscate!
"HA! HA! HA!" laughs Datch. "You fools can't even tell a fake door from a real door. You'll never make it out of here! HA! HA! HA!!!"
Alrighty, which door next? I assume it is going to be either 12, 13 or 14?
Chk'tarlsh
|
"Let'sh try thesse while we're here," Chk'tarlsh says, indicating the doors opposite the fake ones and ignoring Datch's gloating.
Lucky, lucky 13!
| GM bigboom |
Everyone examines the door for traps and finding none, the party takes position around the door... then throws it open!
This door, and you soon realize the other two doors as well, lead into a cavernous chamber with a towering forty-foot-high ceiling. The vault-like room is lined with black metal filing cabinets that feature heavy duty locks, and the area is dimly lit.
The vault’s single occupant stands at the center of the room, their features initially obscured by shadows. But as your eyes adjust, you see a tall, androgynous elf with inky eyes and bluish-purple hair wears a jet-black armored suit.
NPC image revealed and map unmasked!
Datch exclaims, "OOOOHHHHH snap! Welp, it's been fun but this is the end of the road for you now. You could be good sports about it and just avoid wasting time by surrending right now and they'll just execute you quickly and painlessly. But I suppose that would take the fun out of this entire little jaunt we've been on...I mean I would honestly enjoying watching them single-handedly open up a can of whoopass on all of you! So really, I'm good either way."
The elf speaks with an expression and voice devoid of any emotion, "Our instructions are to ensure that none of you, including Datch, departs this complex alive. Submit to your death peacefully or I will have no choice but to end you violently."
Datch's face goes from smugness to horrified surprised, "Wait what?!? What do you mean I'm not to live?!?" For the first time this encounter, Datch looks genuinely worried as she futilely struggles against her bonds to get loose.
Sooooo yah. There's no getting around it - this elf will attack you, unless you intend to surrender and let her execute you...kekeke. Please go ahead and post up anything you'd like to say retroactively before the actual combat begins together with your actual combat actions!

Twich
Hef
Chk’tarlsh
Killer agender elf
Aldane
Krara
Sauros
Door 13 is open but doors 12 and 14 are closed. Opening them will require a move action.
Krara
|
Who in the Hells is 'our'? Krara yells back. Noticing Datch beginning to squirm in her bonds, the vesk can't help but grin.
What's the matter rat? I thought this was all 'part of the plan.'
Hef Sadir
|
Hef raises an eyebrow at the new complication. He glances over at Twitch, ”I think I shall try your method here, until we know more about our enemy.”
He summons up three small shields of force that zip out and slam into the elf.
Krara
|
| 1 person marked this as a favorite. |
If this was my Technomancer, I'd toss Datch inside and cast Hold Portal so they could settle their differences ^_^
In total honesty, had Krara been acting faster in initiative she would be doing just that.
Chk'tarlsh
|
"Let'sh ssee what thish ish all about," Chk'tarlsh says as he moves into the room for a better look.
Seeing the strange foe before them, he darts in, slashes once to test the defenses, and retreats a little way toward a nearby cabinet. Spring Attack
Long sword: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
Slashing Damage: 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10
| GM bigboom |
Twich and Hef's magic missiles slam straight into the elf for a total of 24 points of damage!
Charles' moves in quickly, gets the drop on the elf with a successful longsword strike for 10 points of damage, then backs away!
Nice use of the little 'ka-pow!' shape to illustrate the strike, by the way!
-----------
The elf, sword in one hand and pistol in the other, doesn't flinch as he/she/they moves right up to Charles and attacks with their sword!
sintered longsword vs KAC: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (14) + 14 = 28
S Damage: 2d10 + 14 ⇒ (4, 10) + 14 = 28
The elf's movements are crip and precise as they accurately slash into Charles, causing 23 points of damage!!

Round 1 cont'd & Round 2
The following characters in bold may take their turn:
Twich
Hef
Chk’tarlsh (-23SP)
Killer agender elf (-24HP)
Aldane
Krara
Sauros
Krara
|
Dragging Datch with her, Kraramoves into the room despite the ysoki's protests. You've been happy to talk so much: who are they? she snarls at the media maven while firing at the elf.
Improved Ger 'Em! on the elf
Attack v EAC: 1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 10 + 2 = 29 for Acid damage: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 4) + 6 = 13
Sauros
|
"I call 'not it!' on searching all those file crates!"
Sauros skirts safely around the elf and positions into a flank with Charles.
Entropic Strike (vs EAC): 1d20 + 10 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 10 + 2 + 2 = 22
Bludgeoning, Force: 2d6 + 10 ⇒ (5, 6) + 10 = 21
EAC 25, KAC 27; EP 1
Hef Sadir
|
As the target moves out of sight, Hef nods to Twitch and darts through the door, ”Once more into the fray.”
Drawing his spear as he moves he sizes up the enemy and summons a glitzy shield that obstructs their vision.
Move while drawing weapon, Cast Wisp Ally to provide automatic covering fire to add +2 to Chk’tarlsh’s AC on the next attack vs him.
And... he uses his Bodyguard & Harm's Way feats to boost Chk’tarlsh’s AC by a 2 more (4 total) on that attack and also intercept it if it still hits.
| BOT-EE-licious |
Botting Charles... resorting to the usual full attack that he's had soooo much good luck with!! ;-)
Charles lays in with a full attack!!!
Long sword 1: 1d20 + 8 - 4 ⇒ (3) + 8 - 4 = 7
Slashing Damage: 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12
Long sword 2: 1d20 + 8 - 4 ⇒ (4) + 8 - 4 = 8
Slashing Damage: 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12
| GM bigboom |
Aldane steps in and swings at the elf but the elf anticipates the attack, precisely shifts their body aside an inch and dodges Aldane's weapon!
Clearly still shaken, Datch stutters to Krara, "I.. I don't know exactly... They pledged support and help improving the drone ships!!"
Krara's shot hits the elf square in the chest, hitting Charles for 13 points of damage!!
Sauros dives straight into the fray, taking advantage of Charles' position and succeeds with a solid strike on the elf for 21 points of damage!!
---------
sintered longsword vs KAC: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (13) + 14 = 27
S Damage: 2d10 + 14 ⇒ (8, 8) + 14 = 30
In an amazing burst of surprising speed, the elf launches an unexpected attack at Charles but just as the attack was about to land, Hef intercepts it and absorbs the hit himself, suffering 30 points of damage!!
---------
Twich launches another volley of magic inflicting 9 points of damage!
Charles attacks the elf with all his fury and might!! And unfortunately sees results similar to what he's been largely experiencing recently...
---------
sintered longsword vs KAC: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (9) + 14 = 23
S Damage: 2d10 + 14 ⇒ (2, 5) + 14 = 21
The elf continues with a brutally efficient attack on Charles, causing 16 points of damage!
Then seeing her predicament at being surrounded, nimbly and skillfully takes a guarded step away between two filing cabinets into a much more defensible position!
This elf is tough!!!
---------
Round 2 cont'd & Round 3
The following characters in bold may take their turn:
Twich
Hef (-30SP)
Chk’tarlsh (-39SP)
Killer agender elf (-67HP, -1RP)
Aldane
Krara
Sauros
Hef Sadir
|
Hef summons more force shields, sending them zipping towards the nasty enemy, ”Finish them so we can get some answers.”
Magic Missile for 3d4 + 3 ⇒ (2, 1, 4) + 3 = 10 damage, 2/5 lvl 1 spells remain.
Krara
|
You think fleeing into the dark will save you? Krara yells at the (tactically) retreating elf. You bit off more than you can chew trying to kill us along with the rat!
Quick Dispiriting Taunt
Intimidate: 1d20 + 16 + 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 16 + (5) + 1 = 39
Assmuming that beats 15 x 1.5 CR, they are shaken for the round.
Improved Get 'Em!
Attack v EAC: 1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 10 + 2 = 22 for Acid: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 4) + 6 = 16
If the Taunt worked and that hits, they are also shaken for a round (creul fusion)
Sauros
|
Sauros ignites the thrusters on his jetpack again and descends on the other side of the file cabinets.
"Not slippin' away that easily, DUDE!"
Entropic Strike (vs EAC): 1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 10 + 2 = 15
Bludgeoning, Force: 2d6 + 10 ⇒ (1, 2) + 10 = 13
EAC 25, KAC 27; EP 1
| GM bigboom |
Oh hey, we've received an aid token! I didn't expect that would happen. Any feel free to use it and anyone who has already acted this round, feel free to use it retroactively as well. Sooner we use it, sooner I can pass it on to another table for their use!
Chk'tarlsh
|
Chk'tarlsh follows his companions around the filing cabinets in pursuit of the elf.
Seeing the confined space, the shirren leaves some room for his teammates to maneuver and unloads a round of his pistol at the foe.
Tactical semi-auto pistol: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15
Piercing Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Hef Sadir
|
My vote is to also do that, but wait till the enemy has acted in case they hurt someone else on their action.
Krara
|
My vote is to also do that, but wait till the enemy has acted in case they hurt someone else on their action.
I like that plan. So activate it for Healing at the start of the next round.
Chk'tarlsh
|
I like the sound of that plan, too. Thanks, as well!
| GM bigboom |
Without missing a step, Aldane advances on the elf and lands to rough blow for 21 points of damage!!
Krara's taunt seems to have an effect as you notice a reaction in the elf's eye. But that reaction lasts but a moment as the elf seems to recover and continues fighting uninhibited! Dang, he/she is stone cold!!
Krara's shot, although very close to the mark, hits one of the filing cabinets, missing the elf!
Using his jetpack, vaults over the file cabinets in this vault-like room!!
If I understand what you're doing, I believe this will draw an AoO. However, the elf does not do so!
---------
sintered longsword vs KAC: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (4) + 14 = 18
S Damage: 2d10 + 14 ⇒ (1, 3) + 14 = 18
With another unnatural burst of speed, the elf swings an attack at Aldane but misses!!
---------
Twich, having lost sight of the elf, moves into the room and launches two missiles at the elf, hitting for 9 points of damage!!
Hef follows suit, launching 3 missiles dealing 10 points of damage!!
Charles fires his pistol but the bullets hit nothing but the heavy duty file cabinets!!
---------
sintered longsword vs KAC, full attack: 1d20 + 14 - 4 ⇒ (3) + 14 - 4 = 13
S Damage: 2d10 + 14 ⇒ (5, 1) + 14 = 20
sintered longsword vs KAC, full attack: 1d20 + 14 - 4 ⇒ (9) + 14 - 4 = 19
S Damage: 2d10 + 14 ⇒ (6, 9) + 14 = 29
The elf swings twice at Aldane but it appears the Starfinder onslaught is taking its toll as the elf misses both attacks!!
The elf is appearing to be in pretty bad shape....
---------
Out of no where, you begin hearing that goblin and kasatha coming through on your comms. Sounds like they're chanting while eating pretzels and beer...
Handsome: "My name is Handsome Gob!"
Hi-C: "Everyone says you're a knob!"
Handsome: "But I dun care cuz they're all slobs!"
Hi-C: "And if you did care, a grenade you'll lob!"
Handsome: "Boom! They're dead, the poor slobs!"
Hi-C: "Wait, you said 'slobs' already... Doesn't that ruin our song?"
Handsome: "I don't care, you knob!!"
Aid token heal: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 5) = 12
The exchange lifts your spirits and heals everyone for 12 points!!

Round 3 cont'd & Round 4

Sauros continues to slog away!
Entropic Strike (vs EAC): 1d20 + 10 - 4 ⇒ (7) + 10 - 4 = 13
Bludgeoning, Force: 2d6 + 10 ⇒ (3, 2) + 10 = 15
Entropic Strike (vs EAC): 1d20 + 10 - 4 ⇒ (8) + 10 - 4 = 14
Bludgeoning, Force: 2d6 + 10 ⇒ (1, 1) + 10 = 12
EAC 25, KAC 27; EP 1
Hef Sadir
|
Saving his spells, Hef moves into flanking and stabs with his spear.
Returning Cold Iron Tactical Spear + Imp Get Em + Flank vs. KAC: 1d20 + 6 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 6 + 2 + 2 = 12 for Magic/Cold Iron/Piercing + W.S.: 1d6 + 3 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 5 = 12 (if hits, gets +1 AC vs. that target)
More importantly, if any adjacent ally is attacked (first attack vs. them), he uses his Bodyguard & Harm's Way feats to boost their AC by 2 and intercept the attack if it hits.
Krara
|
Krara snorts as her shot glances off the cabinets, and the dogpile on the elf only further complicates things. She's further incensed as her (quite good, she had thought) threats appear to slide off the killer.
Weighing her options, the vesk decides to focus on gettgin their heavy to hit.
Move action to Improved Get 'Em! (all +2 to hit)
Standard action Harrying Fire to try and improve Aldane's next attack by an additional 2
Harrying fire: 1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 10 + 2 = 23
| GM bigboom |
Elf had a special ability to counter Krara's threats.
Aldane's hit lands with a mighty blow, finally taking the elf down!
Combat Concluded!!!
When examining the file cabinets, you find they are arranged in alphabetical order, and each contain information about a Pact Worlds organization or individual. AbadarCorp, Iseki-Okaibo, the Starfinder Society, and each of the Society’s faction leaders have their own files, among others. The files include everything from mundane trivia, to details such as blood type and net worth, to shocking personal secrets.
Aside from posting up what you'd like to say/do next, please also give some indication of which door you'd like to proceed to next. Doors 1, 5, 6, and 7 are what's left available to you. Purple doors are still locked and shielded.
