Giuseppe di Firenze |
Whispering to the others, Gio broaches the subject, How do you want to approach? Are these things evil?
Giuseppe di Firenze |
Nice roll!
GM Skyreaver |
You sneak to the point at which you can see the creatures talking. They are in a clearing roughly 355' in radius.
A Massive Gnoll is talking to a pair of fey creatures that look like something of a mix between a halfling and and elf, but the fey do not appear to understand it's speech. The older of the two Fey is petting a wierd looking dog.
This is a Yeth Hound. It is a Fey creature that, despite it's appearance, is actually intelligent. It is known for it's terrifying howl that freezes men's hearts and can cause them to die of fright.
Ionnis |
Nature: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Io sneaks back to the group, and says that there is a gnoll speaking to two fey folks in a big clearing. One of them has some sort of dog like pet. He mentions the fey don't appear to understand the gnoll, but it doesn't look like anything bad is about to go down. So...do we pass them by? Confront? We do need to find whatever killed these poor people still.
Giuseppe di Firenze |
Obviously, the gnoll is part of di responsible party. Do you think that they might be trying to recruit di fae to help them? Giuseppe whispers back.
Sir Gorum |
so Gorum would not come up with this but an idea here would be Gorum goes in to gain the attention of those in nearby and draws them into an ambush by the rest of the party. We should have a good idea of the hostility level of the unknown party by that time. In the interest of moving forward, Gorum will move ahead toward the voices. The rest of the party can hide and wait for the ambush or follow the Paladin.
He does heal up before going in though lol. Just looked at my current health. He will cast cure wounds on himself and Wuen if you could spare some healing for him as well that would be great.
Cure Wounds: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
29/52 hps
Giuseppe di Firenze |
I am okay with that. @DM, for our renown item worth 100 gp or less, can we have bought an extra healing potion? It comes in at exactly 100 gp, in the Players Guide...
Giuseppe di Firenze |
Clarifying, a potion of extra healing, not two healing potions...
Giuseppe di Firenze |
Short rest then. I would have suggested it, if it was apparent on both Io and Gor's faces...
If the situation is the same, Gio will try to stealthily follow Gorum into the encounter, keeping his distance if the surrounding terrain requires...
Dexterity (Stealth): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Ionnis |
So....we don't need to spend the hit dice then, right? Either way, thanks Quen!
Stealth: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
Once everyone is back to not bleeding out, Io will spend a few moments cleaning up his appearance (cast prestidigitation) because you just never know. He will then sneak up with everyone else (within whispering range but not too close to his companions) and see what happens with these fey and their guest.
Sir Gorum |
Are we waiting on someone to act? I’m moving toward the voices while Gio and Io stealthfully follow. Quen I would assume is following either stealfully or a few steps behind Gorum. Gorum will move forward cautiously. If the voices go quiet he will take the dodge action in anticipation of an attack on himself.
Giuseppe di Firenze |
I was just about to ask the same. Gorum's description was about what I pictured as well...
GM Skyreaver |
Ya, I was waiting for you guys to be done with healing.
The creatures in the clearing snap their heads towards the group as Gorum leads them out. There are a pair of Fey and a massive Gnoll, as well as an odd Dog creature, just as Ionnis described.
In Common, the Gnoll says "Kill them!"
Still no provided map, so more theater of the mind. The clearing is about 40' in diameter, with your group breaking through the trees and the enemies more or less in the middle. The dog is large and the quickling is tiny, and everything else is medium-sized.
Gorum: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Guiseppe: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
Ionnis: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Quen: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11
Quick: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
BGnoll: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
Elder: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
dog: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Initiative Order:
Guiseppe
Gnoll
Dog
Quen
Quickling
Elder
Ionnis
Gorum
Giuseppe di Firenze |
Do the fey look threatening?
Giuseppe di Firenze |
Moving along then...
Sneaking around the side, Gio tries to get as close to the Gnoll as he can without them noticing him, then strikes!
+1 longword: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
If I can get close enough for advantage: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Wow, if that isn't a Han Solo moment, I don't know what is... *snap*
Giuseppe emerges from the brush, creeping up on the Gnoll. The dirty creature's nose crinkles as the wind shifts and it spins to knock the swordsman's blade aside with ease!
