Ohrmizd
Ohrmizd does his best to try maintain himself alive, parrying to right and left while holding Jhavhul distracted. Despite his best effort the genie's blade is massive, but the Keleshite manages to keep alive one more turn, enough to leave time to his friends deal with him at range.
With the grand enemy collapsing, Ohrmizd looks down judgemental and points to the body with his scimitar, Zenzirad, earned at the fires of a distant plane "And that is what happens when you try to invade Golarion. Serve as judgement for all evilness that might want to come"
Descending to the ground, he checks the fallen body "This was Jhavhul, isn't it? I mean... look at the blade... and the horns..."
If detect magic does not find strong magical items on the body, Ohrmizd will doubt this is the big boss.
Hazreem Al'Shakar_1
1 person marked this as a favorite.
Hazreem hovers over the fallen body of the greatest tormentor he had known...the one who had imprisoned him for decades...yet he felt nothing. No rage...no joy, nothing.
"I believe this is...was Jhavul Ohrmizd. I have seen him...in my dreams untold times." Hazreem responds softly, "Make sure he does not return to life. I will see what how far along he has progressed with his ritual." He then moves to investigate the colossal skeleton further...
GM Foxy, is the thrumming heartbeat still happening?
Omari the Landless
"That was ... anticlimactic." comments Omari and he continues, "But the Horned Lord guided my arrows..."
Ok, so are we calling it here, gonna explore the rest of the complex, or what?
Heshan Antar
Heshan hurries himself towards the giant genie... only to arrive at nothing more than a corpse of one. Yet that seemed to be perfectly fine by him as he smirked. "I will happily take things that are easy for us any day of the week," he grinned.
Ohrmizd
"Those are good points. But how do we make sure he is dead for sure and does not return?" Ohrmizd eyes the lava pool "Throw him into the molten lava? But still we have no idea why he was doing all this, and whether his minions can complete his work or not"
Omari the Landless
"I am not sure about making him stay dead. It would certainly make it more difficult if the body was destroyed, but I cannot say that that's a guarantee with genie wish magic potentially available. Hazreem or I could summon animals to consume the body, for a start..."

"I am not sure about making him stay dead. It would certainly make it more difficult if the body was destroyed, but I cannot say that that's a guarantee with genie wish magic potentially available. Hazreem or I could summon animals to consume the body, for a start..."
I guess we are continuing for a bit?
Hazreem Al'Shakar_1
"Perhaps transporting his unconscious form out of this place is the wisest course of action," Seriyle suggests, "I could plane shift us to my home, I am sure Jhavul would LOVE it there!"
Omari the Landless
@Foxy, there were a couple of really important Q's that you skipped. 1) Any magic items on him? Because, Ohrmizd's right; if he's not carrying a bunch of magic, we may have fought a fake Javhul.
2) Is the thrumming heartbeat thing still happening?
Also, as a follow up: What kind of knowledge/spellcraft checks would we need to figure out what that heartbeat thing is (or was)?
"All right, everyone gather to me, away from Javhul. I will call on Erastil's healing for our wounds..."
Omari swings astride Khedron again, takes himself 50' from Javhul, and waits for the other to gather around. Then he channels to heal them all...
Healing: 8d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 5, 3, 6, 3, 2, 1) = 28
Who has damage left over after that? How much?
Ohrmizd
"Uf, thanks for that Omari" Ohrmizd relaxes as most of his wounds heal up "Defeating Jhavhul was a great deal, but we are not done here, remember we rescued the Princess but she told us to be with other prisoners in some kind of magical prison inside these lava caves"
"Garavel must be one of the prisoners for we did not find him in Kelmenare. The man is a grouchy scrooge that has not paid us in months..." the Kheleshite elaborates drawing a coin in the air with his blade "...but somehow I do appreciate the old oak, we might as well look to save him"
He does help indeed identify the items and try to find out if the pulses have ceased and what type of ritual was the efreeti conducting.

Almost everything here is magical. The lava, the skeleton, most of the gear on Jhavhul.
The ritual was to awaken the skeleton to life again. But not as an undead, but for Jhavhul to become what the skeleton was during it's lifetime. And even in it's skeleton form it isn't completely dead as the heartbeat of the glowing crxstallized heart echoing through the cave gives witness. The means to Jhavhuls goal was blatant abuse of wishcraft.

Then I will ask Erastil's blessing to ensure his soul goes to Pharasma's judgement (spend 15 minutes preparing Rest Eternal, and then use it). Then Hazreem can summon animals to consume the corpse... "I would like to give him the chance to explain himself. Yet I feel redemption is past himself, and regretfully he already rejected the chance a minute ago" Ohrmizd looks down at the body full of sadness, whether for a live that he has to end, or because it brings the end of this grand goal and that will leave the Keleshite without purpose "I guess you are right, it would be to dangerous to let him live"
With a mixture of resignation and resolve, Ohrmizd grasps Zenzirad by the pommel with both his hands, and pointing it down, he heavily makes it rest on the iffrit with sure hand.
