Though she has spent over a century in and around the woods, this is the first time that Brennadara has been thus lured to a feast by a Satyr. As her head clears she tries to keep her calm and assess the situation. Glancing around to make sure that all are safe and accounted for she addresses the strange musician.

"It is a fine feast and lovely music, young lord. To what do we owe the honor of your attention and this celebration?"

She draws her weapon, and begins to make an advance upon the creature, spear pointed, who has about one second to explain himself...

With a start, Elinil awakens from his entrancement in the music, crying out "Oh, you play so beautifully!", then espying Anri's enthusiasm, he shouts "HOLD, Anri, this is yet to be a battlefield!"

The satyr bows, his forehead almost scraping against the tip of the spear. "Erdretti Valsax at your service. My, what an unusual eating utensil you have there." he says, smiling coyly at Anri. "I invited you here to feast, to celebrate the turning of a new day from rain to sun, and to celebrate the wedding of my friends." he waves his hands towards two small figures sitting on toadstools at the end of the rock table.

You hadn't noticed the figures until he waved, but those who know of Sprites know they often lurk unseen. They each wear a crown made of flowers sewn together with vines from the forest.

"May I present the newlyweds, Irietan and Fillidelle."

Anri is soothed by Elinil's stern words, perhaps with renewed respect at his uncharacteristic forwardness, and so, though not without visible reluctance, she lowers her spear, and bites her tongue, flinging a retort in her head inaudibly: "For unusual prey and present company!" She silently swears to take this beast's head some day...

...But, as that day is not today, she listens to what it has to say, not retreating her body on inch back, nor deigning to speak just quite yet.

It takes her a few more moments to cool enough to notice the newlyweds.

When the rain let up Revna set Filtiarn down so that he could walk around but she kept a very close eye upon him so much so that when she heard the music she scooped him up protectively. When she saw it was a satyr she was half in Anri's camp when it came to her idea of how to handle this but when it seemed he meant no harm Revna calmed a bit.

"Wed-ding?" Revna asked curiously as she raised an eyebrow. "OH! This Promising?"

Irietan and Fillidelle smile at your well-wishes. Irietan flutters off his toadstool. He flutters over to a wineskin, using it to fill the cups in front of each of you. His high-pitched voice rings out "Come, let us toast to Fillidelle, the most beautiful of all the creatures of the wood."

While Irietan is obviously smitten, Fillidelle is remarkably plain for a fae creature. All the stories you read would have you believing each sprite is prettier than the last. This one must be the first among that line of thinking. Not ugly by any stretch, but no prettier than a common girl of the city.

Erdretti raises his glass "Here, here, a toast to the beauty of the mosswood!" he exclaims with exuberance. He drinks deep, hardly waiting for you to raise you own.

Brennadara:

You've heard stories of faery feasts. While satyrs are randy and often rude, they mostly like a good party. You know that fae creatures often do not celebrate special events like weddings and the like- very few things like that happen in the first world- but that when treated with respect and shown a more playful side, sprites can bestow tokens of appreciation on their guests.

Spurning the idea or attacking usually results in long-term harassment and "pranks" which can be quite deadly in the wrong circumstances.

Revna:

You've heard ancient tales of how faeries can steal the nutrutional value from food- called 'foyson theft'- leaving you full but essentially starving. When combined with wine, it can get you drunk much quicker than you realize.
You've heard of the lustiness of satyrs and that they generally just like to party and make mirth. As long as they are not turned down rudely they are generally harmless, although they will try and insist that the party go on and on, a diplomatic withdrawal can be a wiser course of action once good manners are satisfied.

Irietan and Fillidelle dance in the way of faeries- a fluttering, rhythmic three dimensional dance of flight and light touches. Their joy and love shine through their movements.

Revna manages to keep Filtiarn from trying to eat the sprites, the desire of which their dancing fluttering seems to excite in him. He is satisfied with the last of the extra milk from the hostel instead.

After some time reveling-joyfully, reluctantly, or otherwise, it seems the fae have been satisfied with your celebration of their union. If allowed, they kiss each of their guests on the cheek and attach a tiny ring of holly and vine somewhere on the clothing of each guest.

Fae Ring Talisman: This charm is a consumable talisman, attached to armor (or explorer's clothing). When activated a free action when you critically fail a saving throw, the saving throw becomes a failure instead and the fey ring's holly produces a level 1 goodberry, consuming the talisman in the process.

After scouting around long enough to find a suitable campsite, Brennadara leads the others to it and then helps to make camp. After speculation about the Marshal has gone on a bit, she speaks up. "That encounter with Erdretti was about what I'd expect from the Fae here in the Narlmarches. It wasn't planned and we didn't ask for it, but that sort of chaos is to be expected when dealing with them. The Marshal's absence now, and the fact that none of us seem to be sure when it happened is noteworthy, but not yet alarming. We played the game well enough and they gave us a parting gift, so probably no harm will have come to her from the Satyr."

The elf looks out into the dark of the woods as she continues, "The interactions and reactions she had with the Warg and to the stranger afterward were all as I would expect, and we did know that she'd be leaving us about at this point in our journey anyhow. Our best approach is probably to continue with the mission we've been given. She's competent enough to be appointed Marshal and knows this area, so it's unlikely she needs rescuing. Further, dealing with a growing band of bandits is something that she'd need to assign people to and the kingdom doesn't have a particularly veteran scouting corps yet, so our selection despite our lack of experience shouldn't be too surprising. There could be other explanations for our being here, but as of right now there's no reason to think they'd be better than that so far as I can tell."

"But we should sleep now in any case and sort the details in the morning when it's light. If we like, we can go take a look at the glen once more first off to see if there's any evidence of the Marshal having been there, or leaving. For now I'll take the first watch unless someone else is particularly eager to."

The night's watches pass uneventfully save the spare owl or odd mouse and the plethora of crawling insects common to encampments such as this.

I am also not sure what you mean here, Reckless. Do you mean that these notes were in the Marshall's portion of the gear on Hestur, or were they distributed into the parties packs (like she was expecting us to deliver them)?

Further, I am assuming that the Marshall had some of her gear on Hestur, just like the rest of us. Is that part of her gear still there?

To be more specific, the letters were bundled together and in the saddlebags of Hestur, along with some equipment that likely belonged to the Marshal; a set of writing implements and paper, a wax- melting tin, some wax, a few extra rations, her tent and bedroll, a few torches, and
the paint for marking signs.

The Marshal's weapons, armor, magic items, and anything else she was wearing is not in these packs, nor is her signet ring, which she also likely had on her.

Thanks for seeking clarification.

Brennadara shares the discovery of the letters and the rest of the Marshal's supplies with the rest of the group in the morning. After thinking and listening a bit, voices her opinions.

"The letters, with no instructions to us to deliver them, as well as her bedroll and tent are evidence against the Marshal expecting to leave us when she did. It's curious, as the interactions that we had with the Fae on their own were somewhat typical; unsolicited and whimsical, and but with an exchange of entertainment for boons that one can expect from the encounter. If something was happening between the Fae and the Marshal, it would appear to be on another level, which would be consistent with our lack of memories of her presense; I wonder what dealings with them she might have had in the past."

At Anri's suggestion to open the letters Brennadara does object. "Unless you have a particular reason to expect to learn something that will help us I would rather we leave them unmolested. Given the hasty nature of her departure I don't expect to learn anything of her whereabouts in them, I don't have strong reason to expect that we're being led into a situation beyond what was described, and I know that I would prefer others not open my correspondence should I send them. I could of course be wrong about either of the first two of those." Brennadara half shrugs and leaves the rest of the discussion to the others.

"At this point I would propose that we head back to the glen where the wedding took place to see if there are any traces of the Marshal. Should we find evidence she was there and any sort of clue as to where she might have gone we can decide then whether to pursue it. If we don't find such evidence we should likely continue on to the village we we planning on getting to yesterday and then to Dawnsglen Lodge where we can at least deliver one of the letters and possibly see if this sort of behavior from Marshal Mosswaxer is to be expected. Gnomes tend towards unpredictable. Less so than the Fae, but this could still be precedented."

Turning to Anri, " Anri, I know you're too smart to be playing the hothead against forces that may be overwhelming. Consider how he wasn't the slightest bit concerned about your spear at our last encounter, and how easily his enchantments took control of all of us..."

Complete Thesis and Spellbook of one Anri Winnowill "Darkspur"

"'Smart'" Half-scoff, half-tease, she adds "I know when I'm outvoted..." Clearly not wanting to "get back into it" seeing as who is "right" or "wrong" is simply moot, given that the party has decided to go back to the glen. Some silent thought, and Anri adds "I will back your play, Brennadara, Elinil,..." Looking towards Revna and Kazmukh, she silently includes them each with a knowing nod.

The half-elf holds her spear aloft, massaging the blade with the flat of her thumb.

Watching Revna, Elinil thinks and then speaks : "Revna, your keeping the pup, right... And he's going to grow up smart like a person - able to talk and all that, right... I think we should both rethink our plans to make adornments (your jewelry, my planned boots) out of bits of his dad; he might not be real impressed with us..."

"Áminning" Revna said as she worked on. "For him. Why bad? Warg kill warg many time. You kill kind too. Often take what other held no?" She asked with a raised eyebrow. "No change. Father evil, still father. Should know... more when, I raise alone. And name, is Filtiarn."

Translation:
"Reminder"

Revna nodded in return to Anri. "Ekki hafa áhyggjur, það kemur tími þar sem þeir eru hinir úreltu." She told her, before looking over to Filtiarn with a smile. "Eða þú getur bara ekki verið sama hvað þeim finnst þegar kemur að bréfunum og opnað þau hvort sem er. Stundum verður þú að gera það sem þú telur rétt."

Translation:
"Don't worry, there will be a time when they are the outvoted ones." "Or you can just not care what they think when it comes to the letters and open them anyways. Sometimes, you must do what you believe is right."
