Brennadara's position does not change as the Marshal provides more information. "There's no compelling reason for us to track down animals that are causing no harm. We have no immediate need for the food they would provide, and it would be unappealing in any case, and they're making fine use of their pelts themselves. My vote would be that we are best served by continuing on our way."

Though Anri neither shares the same reverence for nature nor easily dismisses the prospect of obtaining leverage in a future bartering situation, she defers to her comrades, offering her silent support. As she was out securing goods when the Marshal and Revna had their disagreement, too she will remain ignorant of any petty squabbles that bring that prior conflict back to the foreground.

While the group decides what to do, she decides to simply maintain keeping a lookout.

Brennadara nods as her companions come to a consensus. After a quick sidelong glance at poor Elinil, who could clearly use more of a break than they've taken, but has been holding up as well as can be expected, she speaks to the Marshal. "I believe that we're in agreement to leave these thylacines be, Marshal. We're ready to continue at your pleasure."

When the group heads out once more the elf returns to her watching; as the evening grows near she adds a good spot to camp to the list of items of interest that she might spot.

Male Human Commoner 2

As you travel, the forest floor becomes thicker around the road, clearly great effort was necessary to carve the road from the tangled mess of the Narlmarches woods, and probably a decent amount of work goes into maintaining it. Thus, it comes as little surprise when you start seeing little yellow markers by the road.

The Marshal explains the meaning of these signs.

A fang indicates and area know to attract predators. A sun with a downward arrow indicates a good area to rest, generally known for clean water, good shelter, abundant game, and/or lack of known predators. A sun with an upward arrow indicates it's best to travel on due to lack of decent sheltering options. A sword indicates an area with unfriendly humanoids. Crossed swords indicate an area with bandits or hostile humanoids- the Marshal indicates that these markers are usually placed on trees or large stones because these foes have been known to remove the markers when possible; therefore it is wise to also look out for scraped off signs. A flower indicates fey presence, while a mushroom indicates malignant fey.

The Marshal provides you each with a small vial of yellow paint and a brush to apply it with. As you travel, you notice a few of these symbols, each faded with age and weather, some partially obscured with overgrowth, and one or two showing signs of attempted removal.

Finally, about a half-hour before sunset, you find a roadside stone with a sun, arrow pointed down. Nearby, you find a clearing with with a bubbling spring. A sizable lean-too, somewhat overgrown but otherwise in good repair, with a bit of preparation, it will provide adequate overnight shelter.

Complete Thesis and Spellbook of one Anri Winnowill "Darkspur"

Anri gets to work preparing the shelter (out earshot of the Marshal if possible), including rigging a place for Hestur to stable, making special precautions to make sure the lean-too will retain as much heat as possible. Not for herself - obviously being part Ice Witch has it's benefits! - but as a show of care for her warm-blooded team.

"I can take the first watch, for as my eyes are not as well adjusted as yours,..." Indicating Kazmukh and Brennadara "I am not yet ready to bed down either,..." Now Elinil "And still have some journaling to complete, notwithstanding."

When she gets a chance, perhaps at the nighttime meal, she records the markings in her journal:

Dusk, as Anri intends to keep watch for two hours, she will cast Longstrider the first hour, and again the second (via Arcane Bond), that she may remain quick and alert, in the unlikely event they have visitors this night. Not that she doesn't trust the yellow symbols, simply that she wants to make sure their first night sees the team well-rested for a big day tomorrow, and by extension, these next weeks, as they track down this Akiros Ismort fellow...

Brennadara helps Anri prepare the camp for the evening, and then carefully searches the area around the camp just to make sure there will be no surprises. Once this is done, and after a quick meal, the elf mediates for a time before preparing for sleep. Before turning in she confirms to Anri that she will relieve her in a couple hours. "Wake me for the second watch when it is time. Thank you for the keeping us safe at the start of the evening."

The night passes uneventfully, with everyone getting a decent night's sleep and able to recover and prepare for the journey the following morning.

The next day's journey features more sunshine peaking through the canopy, drier steps, and less singing. You get further into the Narlmarches, and the road begins a more twisted path as forest, marsh, hills, boulders, and the like force compromise between nature and progress.

Shortly after your midday break for lunch....

They were able to sneak within forty feet before being spotted, and are approaching ten feet apart from each other. The road is almost ten feet wide with the brush being cleared another five feet beyond the road. The brush is sparse enough in the forest here that only every other square counts as difficult terrain (or takes two squares to get around).

"You'll have to settle for half an elf flesh, beast!" Anri shouts with a perpendicular powerkick to it's chest - then to Mosswaxer "How do you know this brute?"

The above assumes Anri was standing near Elinil to begin with. If that is not the case, instead of Shield for her last action, she will Step or Stride into position in order to attempt the combat maneuver in the first place.

When the larger foe makes its lunge at Elinil the elf notes Anri's quick intevention, while also tracking the advance of the other two wolves. The tension building, Brennadara glances at Revna and Gingertucker, watching to see how the two will engage the foes, all the while calculating where her efforts will be most effective.

(◇)Delay until after Revna and Marshal Mosswaxers' turns.

Assuming the shove is effective Brennadara would presumably not be able to flank the Warg at this point, so she'll give the round a bit more play to see if there's a better chance to use her turn shortly.

If they can move, the ally can Step as a free action, even if they didn’t need to escape.

Yeah, I'm not sure if we lost a post or what, but some things are a bit off.

First problem and biggest problem : "Grey" Wolf doesn't have an action for last turn in the thread.

I suspect this leads into next problem: Did Kazmukh's AoO happen, and to which creature? I am not sure he ever got the opportunity ("Trigger: A creature within your reach uses a manipulate action or a move action, makes a ranged attack, or leaves a square during a move action it’s using."). Not sure what Grey wolf did, but red wolf moved to him and attacked in Melee, which I don't think triggers AoO.

Finally, as you note, there appear to be 2 things off with the HP. A)Saolimar may be up 1 (although that could be fast healing or something, or Reckless missed your precision damage), B)"Red" wolf is down 8, which I think is Kazmukh's strike from the 2nd round...

With that said, Elinil needs some answers about positioning and spellcraft before his actions... Electric Arc, the cantrip, does no hav any language about hitting creatures between the 2 primary targets (unlike Electric Arc in PF1). Can I attack Grey and Red wolf, flanking Kazmukh, without attacking Kazmukh? As I read it, this is the case. Otherwise, if Electric Arc will attack on a line between the primary targets, is there a "safe" line between Saolimar and either "Grey" or "Red"?

For the purposes of this post, I am going to assume I can just attack Grey and Red safely, if not, I would like to change my action, before I barbecue Kazmukh

Elinil quips in response to Salimar, "You and me, we're going places pal, you're gonna to make a nice pair of boots!" ( Inspire Courage, Single Action verbal ), and then lashes out with lightning in defense of Kazmukh. ( Electric Arc attacking Grey and Red. Two Actions somatic, verbal )

DC17 basic reflex saves for both Grey and Red.

Electric arc targets up to two creatures within range. It does not have any effect on anything other than the targets.

I prefer that players only roll damage once for spells with an area or multiple targets. Rolling separate damage for each target gets much harder to track with many targets, a lot easier to track full/half/none/double with one amount. Plus, I think it's the game's default assumption.

Blood shoots from the (grey) wolf's ears as it yelps and falls limp to the ground. Utterly remorseless, Anri adds with emphasis, pointing her Longspear at Saolmar "You will be next to meet your eternal slumber, little wolf. And when we meet again in the Boneyard, I will repeat your pathetic fate!"

Brennadara continues to observe the battle flowing around her, and when Saolmar moves to threaten Kahzmuk, she shadows the movement. A hollow threat if we can end this quickly.

(◆)Stride to flank Saolmar with Kahzmuk.

Reflex Save to move through the Shattered Earth: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22 Having learned from her previous move, Brennadara avoids the dangers of the Shattered Earth, and again makes a series of swift stabs at the injured predator.

(◆)Flurry of Blows against Saolmar.

First Wolf Jaw attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27 for 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5x2 piercing +1 precision = 11 damage. Critical Hit

Second Wolf Jaw attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14 for 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9 piercing +1 precision = 10 damage. Miss

Succulent Elf flesh, indeed. As her blows fell her savage foe, Brennadara turns her attention to the one adversary who remains standing. Studying it, she levels one more slash with her pointed fingers in it's direction.

(◆)Strike against Red wolf (assuming Brennadara is adjacent to it.)

Wolf Jaw attack: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (14) - 1 = 13 for 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9 piercing damage. Miss

Yes.

With the one wolf down and Saolmar down and out, Revna stepped up to the last wolf. Revna growled almost like a beast herself telling the wounded wolf to get lost and find a new pack, or submit and be a part of hers.

Intimidate: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18

I think it is an intimidate... I'm not sure because handle animal isn't a skill anymore! XD

Assuming "encounter mode" is over...

Still in a bit of a rage, Anri strides over and, re-gripping and raising her spear like a headsman's axe, delivers a coup de gras to Saolmar, taking the beast's head into her hands and countering his initial claim with "Or succulent wolf-flesh, as it turns out" before her adrenaline cools, and she looks around to gauge the reactions of her peers, as a child who hath committed a wrongful act and is caught redhanded.

And red her hands are now indeed. She drops 'Saolmar' with a Thudd! and, regaining her faculties, asks "Kazmukh, are you alright?"

If someone tends to his wounds, Anri will bide her time preparing the skins for travel, doing a minimal prep of draining blood and removing innards, that they may be carried upon Hestur with minimal bulk.

"Handle Animal" is now the "Command an Animal" component of the Nature Skill. Not really useable in these circumstances, where Intimidate to demoralize is more approprite. Note it has a -4 penalty for not sharing a language.

The remaining wolf, wounded and afraid, begins to slink away. The Marshal eyes it warily, crossbow raised, but doesn't fire.

"Something is wrong here. Saolimar doesn't travel this far south, and he certainly doesn't run with such a small pack. " She stares into the distance of the forest in the direction the wolf ran towards.

She nods approvingly at Anri's attempt at dressing the meat. She seems tp pay attention to any attempts/ability to heal Kazmukh.

"That beast has shown a willingness to attack people. Shouldn't we finish it, Marshal?

If the Marshal agrees:

"Well then". Grimly, Elinil hurls a cantrip at the wolf. (Cast Ray of Frost on the wolf, 2 Actions, 120 ft range) He then moves in pursuit Stride Action, 25 ft

"Your decision marshal". Elinil turns away from the fleeing wolf and works healing magic on Kazmukh, "Let my magic help you old friend".

Anri smiles a bit in Elinil's direction at this question, with her teeth, before finishing up quickly with the skins. It's a good start, and we can finish later. Perhaps tonight.

As the last wolf slinks away Brennadara returns to a more upright, relaxed stance and moves towards Kazmukh. "Thank you for being a bulwark and allowing us to take down that Warg with less distraction from the lesser pack members." As she starts pulling healing supplies from the bandolier slung over her shoulder she nods at the dwarf's wounds and asks "May I?"

Brennadara will attempt to Treat Wounds on Kazmukh unless he objects or the party moves within the next 10 minutes.

Medicine Check to Treat Wounds vs DC 15: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15.

Damage Healed: 2d8 ⇒ (4, 7) = 11

As she works, the elf speaks, not looking up from her task. "The weather isn't ideal for it, but if this behavior is that unusual perhaps it would behoove us to track where this Saolmar came from to see if there's a clue to the cause. It might delay us in our other task, but the information could easily be worth it."

"Ah, excellent. Thank you, Brennadara." Kazmuhk touches the bandage gently, but feels no worse for wear.

"What could have driven the worg here, I wonder? Jumping out and shouting "boo" at us is a pretty unsophisticated scheme, for a worg."

The dwarf questions the Marshal, "You say he usually hunts farther north? Do we have any forces in that area?"
