Quenly has a lot of tricks. I'll make a separate post detailing them.

Quenly is an Elf Ancient Lorekeeper Dark Tapestry Oracle. He's a box of tricks. Here's a summary.
Quenly is built around the the Many Forms revelation. He sometimes uses it for utility of movement, sometimes for melee combat. His form of choice for melee is the voonith. He is able to cast many spells whilst shapechanged (not his level 5 spells though, so no Breath of Life).
Quenly knows both Silence and Deeper Darkness, and is not impaired by either spell. Of course, the likelihood is that these spells could impair his allies, so this trick is very situational. (Incidentally Quenly is OK at stealth, and has the Vanish spell too.)
Quenly uses shadow conjuration to copy the Draconic Ally spell. This gives him a long duration translator/interpreter and sensor. The Ally has blindsense and telepathy. Quenly normally chooses to use the nightmare dragon variety of ally, which gains See in Darkness.
This spell gets its own little note. The spell (range=touch) means that Quenly uses a level 3 spell slot and an ally casts a spell of level 3 or below without losing that spell or slot. Quenly loves to get Heroism from a party member using this. Depending on the situation, Quenly may be willing to use multiple slots to allow a particular buff to be spread around multiple party members.
Quenly has only a smattering of knowledges, but has max ranks in History which is a specialism of his (being an Ancient Lorekeeper and a Scarab Sage it seemed apt). However, he has a few tricks up his sleeve thanks to a spell and a couple of choice magic items. Page-bound Epiphany generates up to a +10 circumstance bonus over 11 rounds, so is good for out-of-combat knowledge checks in a subject Quenly is trained in. Quenly's Scholar's Ring gives a nice +5 competence bonus to Know: History and allows a Legend Lore once per 5/days about a subject that Quenly has used the ring's competence bonus on in the last week. Lastly, the gruesome Lore Needle allows Quenly to apply his Know: History bonus to 3 other knowledge skill checks per day.

Starting XP: 21

Update above.
Please note that Setare combines many different class features.
- As a ‘Whirling Dervish’ Swashbuckler she always tries to parry/ riposte and has dex to damage with one-handed piercing weapons and Scimitars. She uses a Chestus.
- As an Unchained Monk she flurries with a chestus as this a monk weapon.
- As an Unchained Monk Scaled Fist her Charisma is used and not her Wisdom for class abilities.
- As an Unchained Monk Softstrike Monk she can deal nonlethal damage without penalties and uses this with the Enforcer feat to intimidate as a free action. She can also deliver a ‘stunning fist’ with a weapon when dealing nonlethal damage.
- She has the Bodyguard feat and uses 3-4 AoO to give +4 AC to allies with the Adopted (Halfling) Helpful trait.
- She usually fights defensively and has the Crane Style, Crane Wing, Osyluth Guile feats for +4 dodge bonus in general, +8 dodge bonus vs. melee attacks and + 13 dodge bonus vs. a single melee opponent.
Thanks again for GMing.

I'm happy to make the check or aid with Diplomacy - I've a +14, I think only Quenly beats me with a +15.
Quenly

Quenly suffers the -2 Planar Trait penalty for being chaotic, so the lawful Meylara will have the highest bonus. Unless the horsey counts as a "scholar or expert" in which case Quenly gets another +2. Is anyone good at Knowledge Planes to identify it?
When do we break out the Heroism spells ;) ? Half the party knows the spell, and Quenly can burn level 3 slots on it too using Channel the Gift.
Meylara Raven

Heroism seems like a fine thing we should be using. I expect such a thing will be needed soon.

I don't have any other skills that will help here, unfortunately.

I really like this scenario. Never would have thought any of my characters would ever really meet Hao Jin! :-D

Okay. Just read the gameplay. I doubt this is going to be solved without a fight.

We're Pathfinders. We're here to help.
Not sure if this was meant to be an in-character statement to the Petitioner, or an OOC reference to Quenly's internal monologue. I'm assuming the latter, and so provide this by way of explanation.
Quenly is an elitist, and vain with it. He's proven himself. He's a full-blown Jeweled Sage as well as a 'chosen vessel of the True Gods' and a member of the Ancient Lorekeepers, a sect of elven oracles charged with keeping the histories of their people.
And now Quenly, as individualistic a soul as you could ever hope to find amongst the chaotic, individualistic elves of Golarion, is stuck in Axis. And he hates it. It is, to his mind, full of fools who can't even execute Order in a logical, useful way.
I won't list all the ways that Axis offends Quenly's sense of what's competent and organised (there are too many - starting with every encounter we've had so far) but this Petitioner takes the biscuit: 4 or 5 visitors just explained in detail why they're present and the Petitioner pretends not to know and instead complains about a devil that's annoying him somehow. Quenly's player knows on a meta-level that this is a storytelling-device, of course.
Naturally, as a Pathfinder Quenly will help his party to the best of his ability.
Setare Katsu

LOL! :-D
Quenly is a very cool character!
Meylara Raven

My comment was more a meta-statement on the way sessions often go, where we have a simple task that frequently devolves into violence. I do happen to rather enjoy the combat portions of the game, but I still find it amusing that Pathfinder 'help' generally involves large numbers of dead bodies.
TBC, I'm enjoying the ooc musings of Quenly as well.
In this case, it seems lawful means they are petty and bureaucratic, and not following the rules to the best of their abilities.
Quenly
|
Ha, I largely agree. Typically there seem to be non-combat options for succeeding in encounters, with combat the fall-back option for parties without the necessary skills. I suspect there'll be a non-combat possibility for dealing with the expected devil.

Did we lose our GM? They've not posted in about a week. The convention is supposed to wrap up on Monday I think.
Quenly
|
GM's last post was Tuesday.
It's not unusual for games to overrun - I don't have a problem with overrunning. But I would certainly appreciate picking up the pace here if possible.

I'd hoped to use this character at a PaizoCon online table, but I think we have a fair bit left to go here and that's less than a week away.

Victoria would align the lightning to go over the heads of her companions (or between). Not sure if that was clear on the 2d map (vs 3d combat and flight involved).
Torean Spellbane
|
Yes, there is in fact a boon from that session which might come into play shortly.
Torean has both Acquainted with Aslynn and Acquainted with 322.
Quenly
|
Likewise Quenly (all Quenly's boons are listed in chronological order under spoiler on my profile / char sheet.)
Quenly
|
By way of background to my last (Quenly's Dragon) post in gameplay:
322 has been Quenly's focus for several years. I had the happy accident of blindly choosing 'the experiment' to play in the scenario that she first appears in. When she became a recurring NPC, Quenly was following her trail. As Quenly has informed you, 322 is a 'Chosen Vessel of the True Gods' of his people: she's a dark tapestry oracle, like Quenly.
Quenly's sense of kinship with 322 is intense. He's seen (through her own memories) how she's been tortured and twisted - in a way he wants to 'save' her, but not like a cliche white knight on a charger. He is, after all, a vessel of the gods of the tapestry deluded into thinking that they are the true, ancient gods of the elves.
Quenly made 322's release his condition for helping Aslynn. This is not what the relevant scenario asks for, but my GM went with it (the rest of the pathfinders in the party made the 'ordinary' mission-specific deal).
So now, Quenly is looking to bring 322 home - not by force, but by love, loyalty and fraternity, qualities that 322 has not experienced for a long time (if ever).
Of course I recognise I've no right to dictate to the rest of you, so I wanted to share Quenly's motivations with you here. This is Quenly's last adventure before level 12. Whilst I'd like to play him in seeker content (level 12 is awesome for Quenly) I'm also willing to retire him from the Society if that's how things play out - he'd sooner abandon the Society than go along with any course of action that hindered his efforts to give 322 the home, recognition, and love that he believes that she deserves.
Quenly
|
While I very much hope we can resolve this without combat with 322, please remember pvp is not allowed on this stage..
Absolutely correct. This is why I would retire Quenly if unable to resolve the encounter peacefully. Quenly would simply walk away - with 322 if she lives - and not return to the Society.
Torean Spellbane
|
I think this is an awesome backstory and potentially a very fitting end scenario for Queenly! Did you plan that character tie from Queenly's beginning?
I really hope the scenario doesn't push us into conflict here. Maybe we can confront Aslynn and break her hold on 322 forever.
Quenly
|
The tie just seemed natural given the similarities between Quenly and 322.
Quenly's first 'encounter' with 322 is Siege of Serpents, where she first appears as one of the pregen aspis agents you get to play. I was delighted to take 'the experiment' and discover that she was a kind of 'mirror universe' Quenly, especially since I had intended to apply the Siege of Serpents chronicle to Quenly anyway.
Then when I learned that 322 made appearances in other scenarios I wanted to follow up with Quenly. I'll spoiler the next bit because I don't think everyone here will have played them.
The next appearance is in Abducted in Aether. I used a replay to get to play this with Quenly, because first time around I used another character and had no idea that 322 appeared in it. So Quenly's condition for helping Aslynn was not to do with Aram Zey (which the mission required) but was instead that she released 322 to him. Aslynn agreed (and the rest of the party followed the standard plot, and we all saved Aram Zey).
So if Aslynn has not in fact released 322 then Quenly will be out for the hag's blood.
It's nice that this is the last pre-seeker level scenario for Quenly. I really really wanted to finish the 322 plotline with him, and to go back to Kyonin (which I did in my last scenario - Elven Entanglement).
Incidentally, if I do get to play Quenly at level 12 he will have 322's Heartstone of the Wronged and will have Greater Polymorph via his Many Forms revelation - so many fun things to be and do with that!
Victoria Hennessee
|
That is a great backstory, indeed. I don't believe I have encountered 322 (never played the Siege of Serpents) but the connection is still appreciated for this adventure that the party has history to draw upon.

I concur with Torean - suggest discussing our approach here.
Quenly has 8 ranks in Diplomacy and three times per day can sub Know:History for Know:(any) so he can use the lore needle to cover Knowledge (Local). Technically, the lore needle lets you use your bonus in one knowledge when making a different knowledge check, so I think I'm ok using it in this way to sub my 11 ranks in Know (History) for my 1 rank in Know (local). GM may decide otherwise.
I think that Tenth-by-Third is the judge who is prejudiced against chaos - so if chaotic PCs try to sway that judge we'll likely be at a penalty.
What we know of the other judges is that the draconic psychopomp is most concerned with the River of Souls and we have to be careful how we deal with that subject with that judge.
The third judge is an apkulla who is the most favourable towards us and Hoa Jin at the start. He is an archivist "who understands the merits of preserving and understanding the past." Quenly will be a good choice to talk to this judge, as an ancient lorekeeper and the holder of a Sage Jewel.
I suspect we'll have one question from each judge. If I understand the GM's advice correctly, we can have one PC answer each question (witness) and another PC can aid (either aid the witness statement or 'protect' the witness in some way against the judge) - and each of these options requires one of the stated checks:
Profession (barrister) @ full bonus
INT, WIS, or CHA check
Ranks in Diplo, Know:Local or Sense Motive (ie not full bonus)
Setare has the Helpful (halfling) trait so she's always a good choice for the aid, and is probably rolling at +7 (CHA + heroism )
Torean Spellbane
|
Oh, the counsel can change each time? That's much more helpful and solves the issue of needing everyone to be a witness.
We still don't know what the topics/questions might be or how many there are. The first one deals with Hao Jin's creation of the demiplane and violations/instability she caused. Sounds like an Knowledge Arcana, Spellcraft, or Knowledge Planes argument.
Setare Katsu

Thanks Quenly!
I don’t know if the mechanics of the advocate ‘mechanically’ work like aid another but I’d be glad to do that.
:-)
Quenly
|
I thought from the GMs description that only the skills and abilities listed already can be used?
I kind of expected verbal duel rules - but it doesn't look like it.
Setare Katsu
|
GM, a counsel can use diplomacy too, right? And would the others benefit from my helpful trait if Setare is the counsel?
Meylara Raven
|
I've 9 ranks in Diplomacy and 1 in Sense Motive, but no other skills mentioned. I am Lawful, so happy to do whatever.
Victoria Hennessee
|
Victoria is willing and able to aid in any diplomatic role, but probably not the most skilled or suitable as prime on any.
