Katerina looks at the Kitsune with a scowl, her arm bleeding. With a hiss, she builds an electric charge, and reaches out to deliver a blast of electricity, before putting up a field of force, for minor defense.

Victus flings another tiny fox into the depths of the forest with a sweep of his halberd. Zhao Kang moves forward and dazzles the kitsune with a kaleidoscopic display of magic. Landitho wards Katrina and then lets forth a primal scream into the forest. Distracted and dazzled, Zenobia cracks the back of his skull with a flick of her chain ball.
Katerina invokes her magic, but it generates a disappointing zap.

Zenobia intercedes as the kitsune tears down Katerina, striking him painfully. As she strikes again to fend him off of herself, the kitsune dances out of the way. "Easier to see you now," he growls.
Zhao Kang fires a wayward ray of frost into the snowy forest.
Landitho soothes Katerina's pain, and her body is restored some.

Victus steps behind the kitsune and strikes him across the back. The blow brings the kitsune to a knee in pain. Before the thief can curse or retort, the Hellknight aspirant relieves the villain of his head.

The amulet begins to glow with a soft green light, and a small humanoid is ejected from it. It has moss-like skin and a conical hat. He bows to you. "I am Kodama, and I thank you for dealing with the usurper who had profaned my woods," he says.
Tishoki emerges from a tree trunk and looks over the bloody snow. "Hmm," he purrs. "Thank you for dealing with the thief and freeing the kami. Take this as reward for your services."
It taps the side of the tree, and an elaborate katana tumbles out of the resultant split in the trunk. Then the cat-like creature simply vanishes.

Kodama bids you thanks once more and farewell. Once you return to the caravan, you find that it is much easier going, and you find yourself back to the main Spirit Road surprisingly quickly. The return to Sakakabe is uneventful.
Amara Li listens to your report. "Neither our benefactor who donated the amulet nor I knew there was a kami inside of it," she says with surprise. "Your return of your fellow agents and their crew safely is very much appreciated. Now, you deserve some rest before your next assignment."
