When did Thordak become so freaking dextrous?
Lol! I know, right?! It's funny, I wasn't real sure what his modifier was but I figured it wasn't very good. And when I looked it up I'm like, "What?! Thordak?! Really?!" I was pleasantly surprised. Didn't realize barbarians actually get acrobatics. It's so little used I barely pay much attention to it.
I guess Thordak does have a few surprises up his sleeve. ;)

I think you've done great with this, bud. This is pretty freaking cool as far as I'm concerned. Creepy eerie stuff for sure. I love it.
Perhaps it would be better to remove his speech. Everon thought after the dwarf's long-winded rebuttal.
Lol!!! Oh man that is just so wrong. Pretty dang funny though. :D

It’s not like the two have to be mutually exclusive.
Javell DeLeon
Thordak, Rexil, Praxim don't forget you currently have Resist Energy 30 from Tomaru.
Man really? Dang it is difficult to remember this stuff. While I do like high-level games, man is it difficult to keep up with so much. It is for surely involved. Fun! But involved. :P

Hey everybody, I am sending this message on behalf of CampinCarl9127, one of the players in your game. He is sorry for the sudden inconvenience but due to unexpected complications in the midst of moving he is completely without internet. Please bot him as needed. He hopes to have internet access again within the next week or so.
Rexil
I completely forgot that Praxim has a wand of lesser restoration. Is it okay to say that he's used it to remove Rexil's Wisdom damage from the ghost attack?
Javell DeLeon
I honestly think Praxim killed that thing with just his arrows alone. Thordak's attacks are probably pretty much pointless. Doing about 270 damage with 5 arrows pretty much kills everything. Pretty much. Man that is insanely awesome.
I never realized Paladins could be so freaking bad to the bone at range. I'm not sure there's a comparable ranged class that is that powerful to be honest. Maybe the Monk archetype that specializes in range. That might be the closest. Because I'm really not so sure a ranged fighter can touch that.
Praxim
It's the smite evil, plus his Big Game Hunter feat, plus Deadly Aim, plus his bow is currently +5 and holy.
Actually, his bow is currently a +5 holy giant, outsider, and transmuter bane bow.
Some of those arrows probably missed, though.
Everon Mitharian
Holy and smiting vs evil target. Ranged paladins certainly pump out the DPS, especially at high levels, and really shine vs evil targets, but typically get slightly outpaced vs targets they're not smiting.
Javell DeLeon
Lol! "Does a 55 hit?" Killing me, Praxim. I think that pretty much hits everything. :) 55 to hit AND 55 to damage. Bookended it. Nice and neat.
Thordak will be kind and pass on the AoO. For obvious reasons of course. Especially considering Rexil slammed him good also.
And crap, I freaking forgot to include the flanking in my previous rolls. I'm always forgetting something. Ugh.

Hey. Anyone alive in here? ;)
Vaccinated Lym, here. Saw the PM, thought I'd drop in and say hello.
Lym Blackhand
^_^ That's why I'm here, chaps.
Hello, Everon. How are you?
So! Did we level up during my absence?
Would anyone give me the highlights of recent events?
Everon Mitharian
Welcome back!
Doing well, have not been able to contribute much due to some poor rolls and the party's intense damage output, but I'm sure I'll get a moment to shine soon enough :)

Welcome back! Great to have you with us again.
Tomaru has done an excellent job using Lym as a meatshield for Thordak, eschewing spell casting for straight up melee attacks. I tried to stop him, but he told me to 'mind my own business and run the darned game'. I'd post the link where he said that, but I can't seem to find it. I blame the internets...
I'm not sure exactly where you left off, but we haven't gotten terribly far. Totally my issue, I had periods where work was crazy. You have discovered that the Vekker's mining expedition met a terrible end through madness and cannibalism, instigated by a wendigo. Silas Vekker promised to show you the way to Xin Shalast if you could recover his brother's (Karivek) remains and return them to him so they could reconcile. You succeeded in this after battling Karivek's ghost. The wendigo attacked the party while the two brothers were engaged in a spirit-battle of wills, which Silas eventually won when the wendigo was defeated.
As a side note, the wendigo grabbed Lym and attempted to drop her from 200+ feet, only to have a final disappointment when it found out she could fly.
Praxim killed things.
Thordak...was Thordak.
Everon rolled poorly on what was maybe his very first roll in a combat, and failed a fear check. Then Praxim killed things.
Now you are in the Fen of Icemists after an arduous climb into the Kodar Mts, fasting until the way to Xin-Shalast is revealed.

He actually toned my language down a lot. I was far more rude than that. Lym makes a great meat shield. She erects a multi-layered defense that only gets worse the longer the fight goes on. She has spells that keep her from getting hit, from getting hurt, that punishes anyone that even comes close or let alone manages to hit her, and she slaps the enemy with debuffs. Plus she has all the power and effects from her summons. Not to mention her more purely offensive spells- AoE and touch spells for the win. Lym The Blackhand has left a swath of death in her wake.
Welcome back. You were missed.

It just occurred to me when rereading the Whitewillow passages, THIS from Thordak:
Thordak can only stand and stare into nothing as he replays the images in his mind. His heart breaks for the ghostly image because he knows her pain of loss. He walks up near her, an obvious look of compassion upon him. "I'm sorry. I'm so very sorry," he says in a pained voice. "I lost a lot of loved ones meself to the savage brutes and will be servin' me own brand o' justice upon 'em. But 'tweren't no love like that," he confesses, shaking his head, "no love like that," he repeats, his eyes downcast as he replays the images again, wishing there was something he could've done to stop the terrible events. After several moments he snaps out of his reverie and looks back to the dryad ghost, "What can we do ta ease your pain, lass? Anythin', anythin' at all, just name it."
Which of course lead me here: to this gem.
You can't make this stuff up...except we did.
Now on to new moments of greatness!
Old Guy GM
Here is the ending of the saga of Lamatar and Myriana: if you wish to see it, I did. The final scene in Whitewillow is near the end of the page.
Old Guy GM
And if you go a bit further, you get to the part where Praxim, the holy paladin, suggested shoving their dead companion's body into the bag of holding like a heel of yesterday's bread.
Lol, 'holy' doesn't mean 'sensitive'. Luckily wisdom prevailed and Thordak was spared having to see Aurora dumped out of the bag like spare change and butterscotch candies from your grandfather's pockets.
Old Guy GM
I didn't realize it at the time, but we went to the Halls of Wrath after that. Very apropos, I believe.
Once again, it was brilliant in the timing even if we didn't know it as a group. Javell and I had some PM conversations about how Thordak was going to handle heading into Wrath, but that was it.

Are you kidding me?! This has been a fantastic tale through and through!
I sent links to my daughter(she's 18) that were Book 3, Book 4, and Book 5. This was some time last year. I got caught up in rereading them then. Oh my gosh such a good read. And my daughter loved them as well.
Oh my gosh such greatness. You know, once this thing comes to an end, I think I'll go back and reread it all. This, in my opinion, would definitely have made a great novel.
OGGM Fortress of the Stone Giant
Book 3 is where Thordak first appeared. 2014! My gosh has it really been 7 years? Man where does the time go.
Great great stuff. Love it. :)

We are fast approaching the final stage: Xin Shalast and the Mhar Massif. I will try to get a map of the valley and the city up, but this is going to be very sandboxy in how you explore the city and approach the mountain.
You could go straight for the mountain and Karzoug, or you could explore the city for information on what is going on, or any combination of the two. I will say assaulting the Mhar Massif will take all of your strength, (and a couple of levels), don't take it lightly. Karzoug has several lieutenants spread about the city that are easier taken separately. You have been warned.
Praxim
If we take the mountain first, stealth is going to be gone after the first encounter. We lose little by scouting the city and dealing with some of its denizens first. Plus, loot is helpful.
Gotta say, evil transmuted giants is going to check off the holy, giant bane, and runeforge power boxes with Praxim’s bow. You thought he did big damage before…
Lym Blackhand
Let's scout the city and build up what power we can, while depriving Karzoug of lieutenants to stab us in the back.
