DuQuesne
|
1st turn: DuQuesne keeps running towards the enemies.
2nd turn: he fires the Frostbite-Class Zero Rifle
Rifle vs. EAC: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Cold: 1d8 ⇒ 8
"I have boogies on my radar! Always wanted to say that! Look at where I'm shooting!"
Aaaand it goes wild
Frinke
|
Frinke was running, so his EAC was lower and after being either missed entirely by both enemies, or at the very least resisting the damage to absolute zero, he continues to run forward. another 100 feet. my square +20 feet.
Edit Just got the message to take both rounds.
Frinke will doublemove on the next round instead of running since taking the lower AC to get to them won't be necessary at this point, gaining 50 feet. In my square +10 feet now. Drew and arrow to show where he ended up on round 1. I'm getting incredible close to melee by the way, however you want to do that.
Lexicor
|
1st turn: Lexicor will double move to get closer and try to spot the snipers.
Where are they?
2nd turn: Single move and draws a healing serum Mk1 to potentially use on Uli or anyone if they are seriously injured and within reach.
Not sure if he had a valid target even after moving. So just getting closer and prepared
Uli Mawborn
|
Uli screams joyous obscenities into the comms as he finally spots the snipers. He leaps and bounds as fast as he can before careening into the closer one!
Tricky Acrobatics: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (2) + 15 = 17
Sword Cane: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16
Slashing (Momentum): 1d4 + 2 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 2 + 4 = 10
Turn one - Run!
Turn two - Trick Attack!
And no worries about the check/no check - I just wanted to make sure I got what was going on :-)
Bisig "Wreck" Sandahar
|
Bisig sprints forward, hoping to get close enough to take a shot at the snipers soon.
Turn one and two: Run
| GM Ultra Plus |
Alright if you enter the green rounded square on the main map, jump to the next slide, we'll keep track there.
Uli and the team, now that they're so close, you see these thirteen-feet tall humanoids with delicate arms and legs.
Green, being struck by Ferran's sword cane in a grevious blow, drops his rifle and pulls his survival knife, slashes back at his attacker, as he steps back.
Knife vs Uli KAC: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Red shoots at Uli, seeing her companion in trouble
red shot 1 vs Uli's EAC: 1d20 + 8 - 4 ⇒ (19) + 8 - 4 = 23
damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Green's knife fails to break through the Ferran's armor, but he's pelted by a glancing shots.
Carlos continues moving up.
Up now
Uli (-23)
Frinke (-9)
Lexicor
Duquesne
Waiting
Green (-10)
Red
Everyone can see both red and green now, since they no longer are in stealth-iness.
edit:I forgot, these weapons are unwieldy.
DuQuesne
|
Double move, still not inside the green zone.
Bisig "Wreck" Sandahar
|
Run into the green zone.
Uli Mawborn
|
Uli turns a neat handspring to back off from the knife-wielding sniper, only to tuck his legs and vault himself back into the fray! Avoiding AoO with Uncanny Mobility
Tricky Acrobatics: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (12) + 15 = 27
Sword Cane: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22
Slashing (Momentum, Trick): 1d4 + 2 + 4 + 1d8 ⇒ (4) + 2 + 4 + (7) = 17 And leaving them flat-footed for everyone for a turn
| GM Ultra Plus |
The green Sarcesian folds and crumples beneath the assault of Uli.
The red sniper screams and fires her gun at her partner's killer.
Rifle vs Uli's EAC: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
damage fire damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
The blast hits Uli squarely, but seeing her partner cut down, and the amassing Starfinders, she begins to flee.
The Fallen sarcesian has a datapad latched to his belt.
end of combat
| GM Ultra Plus |
The fallen sarcesian has a mk 1 healing serum as well, and is wearing estex suit mk 1, and a credstick with 350 credits on it.
The datapad has a holographic display of Blackmoon showing. A strange insignia is marked near, about a mile and a half from your current position.
To get further information from the pad, I'll need a Computers check
Lexicor
|
Lexicor finally arrives and attempts to pull up information from the datapad.
Why were they here and sniping at us?
computer: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12 but struggles to concentrate after the firefight.
Frinke
|
Considering what I have out is a sniper rifle, would I be able to get one last shot in before that person is completely gone and out of sight? Don't want to risk him/her bringing buddies back as we search the area for bodies and treasure on the bodies. hit: 6 + 1d20 ⇒ 6 + (4) = 10 vs KAC dmg: 1d6 ⇒ 4 piercing
Uli Mawborn
|
Uli smiles unpleasantly as Frinke continues his shooting, but squats down to catch his breath instead of joining the pursuit.
"Give it here, Lex; I'll see what I can do."
Computers: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
Bisig "Wreck" Sandahar
|
"Uli, did you get any additional information from that datapad? If not should we radio in and let them know what we've found and then head toward the location marked?", Bisig asks while scanning the area for anymore danger.
| GM Ultra Plus |
Frinke's shot whizzes by the fleeing Sarcesian's head, but does so harmlessly. Meanwhile, Uli and Lexicor begins trying to crack the datapad. But they fail in finding anything in its cache. But the area marked is within walking distance. You might want to continue fiddling with the datapad as it seems to lack countermeasures.
gonna assume you guys try to go to the area marked on the datapad's holographic display. If so, y'all give me perception checks as you go.
Lexicor
|
Lexicor follows along with the group to the indicated location.
Seems like a logical next step, barring any new information manifesting itself along the way.
perception: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (10) + 0 = 10
Uli Mawborn
|
If we've got a safe space to do so, I'll rest to recover stamina, using my Promotional Boon to do so without spending RP
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17
"You don't gotta use logic for everything Lexi, sometimes things just make sense!"
DuQuesne
|
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
Bisig "Wreck" Sandahar
|
Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 15
| GM Ultra Plus |
carlos perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10
As the group continues tracking the marked area on the map, they fail to notice the traps set by this Sarcesian or their allies. Carlos steps on a pressure plate that activates an electical grenade trap
Everyone, roll me a reflex save DC 13 for half, and then give me a athletics check
DC 13 reflex for half, electricity damage: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 4) = 8
Carlos athletics: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Carlos, and everyone who fails a DC 13 athletics, takes an additional bludgeoning: 1d6 ⇒ 6 damage as well as rocks, distrubed from the explosion, tumble down the incline path.
As you continute tracking down this marked area, an electical storms sprouts out, though it is far enough away to not present any danger. However, your comm units can't seem to raise Tayhelm. Finally, at the mark on the map, you see a complex, built low to the ground, and with a painted and sculptureized roof. The only way to see it is from eye level on foot, and could easily be missed if viewed from the air.
Lexicor
|
Lexicor, lagging behind the others, attempts to dodge the blast from the trap
Watch....out!
reflex: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22 whew!
athletics: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
Uli Mawborn
|
Uli trivially avoids the electric explosion, but the following avalanche wangs him hard in the helmet.
Reflex: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16
Athletics: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11 ::facepalm::
DuQuesne
|
Reflex: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16 ~ 4 points of damage
Athletics: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 - 6 points of damage
"What a resourceful bunch, weren't they? I need a short break, my bones are starting to give me grief from all that running we did. Phew!"
DuQuesne takes 10 to recover stamina.
Frinke
|
reflex: 3 + 1d20 ⇒ 3 + (5) = 8
athletics: 2 + 1d20 ⇒ 2 + (5) = 7 Why? Puts me at 15/18 HP, guess we will all need a 10 minute rest if we can get one in.
Bisig "Wreck" Sandahar
|
Reflex: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
Athletics: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
Bisig sees the trap discharge and avoids the majority of the damage.
Lexicor
|
Lexicor will also take the 10min rest if others are stopping.
Was the second batch of bludgeon damage 'save for half' or avoided altogether with the check?
DuQuesne
|
"Should we knock on the door?" DuQuesne points at the complex. "Or one of you spy-types want to sneak in stealthily? We could use some shelter from that storm, it might hit us at any time!"
| GM Ultra Plus |
"Yeah we should do something with the door, bros!" Carlos 187 says. He starts approaching the door. No megalasers appear to grease him. "Alright, I'm not a greasestain! C'mon bros!"
Carlos begins searching the compound. Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10
"Aw, bogus, there's nothing here."
DuQuesne
|
"I admire your attitude, "bro"!" DuQuesne speaks through his comm unit, 60 ft. behind Carlos.
"Why don't you try and knock on that door over there? We got you covered!" he trains his temporary Frostbite-Class Zero Rifle on the compound's direction.
Bisig "Wreck" Sandahar
|
Bisig moves up next to DuQuesne, and takes a scan of the area behind them, trying to make sure they don't get ambushed from behind.
Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 17
"We've got you covered back here Carlos. I don't see any bogies.", Bisig says over the comm.
| GM Ultra Plus |
The door is not trapped, and the party begins to spread out and explore the compound. It is abandoned and there are clear signs that it was abandoned recently. There's still food left in the canteen, and its still lukewarm.
As the party searches the compound, Uli Mawborn finds a holographic projector still connected to a battery.
Lexicor
|
Interesting. As if someone was just here. What were they watching, though?
Lexicor will tinker with the projector.
1d20 ⇒ 8 +6 computers or engineering, if either help
DuQuesne
|
"Any computers around? Those usually have all the clues to most mysteries. It almost takes the fun out of looking for answers!"
| GM Ultra Plus |
Less than twenty beds are in the barracks. As Uli searches barracks, he find a few pieces of art, laser cut rocks that resemble scenes of Diasporan creche worlds and a few legends of old Daimar, the world that once was.
As Lexicor begins investigating the holographic projector, it turns on. With a burst of quick clicks and green light, a projection coalesces into the form of a large but lithe humanoid with an elongated neck, pointed ears, and dark eyes. The figure’s head moves around as though appraising before speaking in strangely accented Common. “Greetings. I am Fayetta. I am sure you have many questions, and I would be glad to answer them.”
Lexicor
|
Lexicor is partially startled he was able to activate the projector.
Greetings Fayetta. Many questions is a fair assessment. I will start, but others may have more. he replies emotionlessly.
First, who lives in this place? Second, where did they all go or what happened to them. Third, Who are you exactly and where are you from? Fourth, is there anything interesting you know and think would be helpful for us to know?
He pauses for responses.
| GM Ultra Plus |
The holographic display smiles, "This was the compound of the Wings of Daimar. We are sarcesians dedicated to watching over the duplicitous bone sages, who destroyed our world. Unfortunately, we've had some internal struggles recently. My second-in-command, Mengian, thought your Society's excavation posed a threat to our cover, and ordered an attack on it. When I confronted him about it, he took his radicals and left. The snipers you encountered in the valley were members of his faction. I ordered the evacuation of the compound earlier this afternoon to protect ourselves from any misunderstandings with your Society."
"I speak for the Wings of Damiar, and I say that we bear no ill will to the Starfinder Society or your excavations in this region. We would, however, like to keep our group hidden from the bone sages. While we are willing to negotiate with you and your leaders to reach a mutually beneficial arrangement, sadly, we do not have the time for an extended negotiation. I know that Mengian is planning another attack against your allies, and I imagine that you would want to address that before we can come to an accord."
DuQuesne
|
"Well, golly! Isn't this convenient! Tell us, Fayetta: Is this a transmission or a recording? And what are Mengian’s plans? I tend not to trust anyone right away, but mistrust can be so non-productive! If we can stop him and return the excavations to normal, sure we can negotiate - but he did kill or destroy innocent living and undead beings around here, so I won’t make any promises on how we will deal with him.” DuQuesne pokes the projection, checking if it’s really not solid.
“But Starfinders always give others a chance before shooting - something your second in command did not do… but enough with the somber speech, it’s your turn to speak! How can you help us?”
| GM Ultra Plus |
The holographic projection blinks and looks at DuQuesne, "If I were a recording, how could I answer your questions? Anyways, Mengian has called on the Wings loyal to him to meet at the site of your latest excavation, where he first executed members of your team. It was also the site of a glass storm earlier today, according to our sensors."
"I'm giving you this information, but we are still sarcesians and so is Mengian and his people. As Wings of Daimar, we cannot attack another Sarcesian, not when there are still so many of our true enemy existing, un-living on this world. Do you what need to with Mengian, but I cannot send my own agents with risking another rupture in my ranks."
DuQuesne
|
“Oh… ah, I have seen computers capable of answering hundreds of questions - I believe they were connected to an infosphere to do so! But nevermind that. So we need to backtrack to find Mengian… what can we expect this time? More sniping and bombs? That was really annoying!”
DuQuesne ponders for a bit. “I can understand the reluctance in helping us more directly. It’s like a mother that knows her son is a criminal, but won’t turn him in… but won’t hide him either. It is very convenient for the mother, but not so for the victims. We’ll deal with him ourselves, Fayetta. But I hope you take measures to keep this from happening again. The people your second-in-command executed were not the ones responsible by all that has happened to you. I believe… you could have done better, that's all". His expression is more saddened than anything.
Bisig "Wreck" Sandahar
|
Bisig continues to keep his head on a swivel, not sure if they can trust this hologram or if this is all an elaborate trap.
