Gerry Thylley |

I want to continue on with this game, as I would like to see if Gerry can find redemption for himself...or at least some closure of some kind. However I do know how much work it is to maintain an AP and keep it going, so I will understand here if you decide to pull the plug now.
If you do decide to keep this campaign running then perhaps sending a PM to the player(s) with your concerns would be a good idea. Just a thought.

![]() |

I'm happy to keep the AP going, and each of us will experience an inevitable ebb and flow of enthusiasm and energy over time, including me.
I just thought it appropriate to check in with everyone now, early, in case anyone was having second thoughts about participating over the long haul.
I'll check in again in the morning, and update the Gameplay thread, if there's been any posts.

Sora Whitespire |

I'm also interested in continuing, though I am on the other side of that spectrum. I don't mind, and actually prefer, a slower game, and have dropped games before for moving too quickly. It's the journey, not the goal and all that.
A thought: Did we agree on a base posting rate at the beginning of this game? I could not find one in the Discussion thread. If we didn't, perhaps what you need to do is set one, and get people to add 'Bot Me' spoilers to their profiles for combat that can be used if they exceed your threshold.
Second, I think taking on seven players should have come with the expectation that it would mean the game would not move as quickly as you might have hoped. That's one extra character to act each round during combat, and not everyone is checking the boards multiple times a day.
Definitely interested in the campaign and I have really been enjoying playing with everyone at this table, so I hope you keep it rolling!

![]() |

Due to other commitments, Donkere has decided to withdraw from the party.
Please do check in at least once a day, and post if the situation calls for it.
I can live with a slow pace.
Dragas, I'm not sure you saw my post above about poison. I'm pretty sure we need a save vs the second bite and now another save for a third bite.

![]() |

(An entangled creature can escape with a successful DC8 Escape Artist check or burst the web with a DC8 STR check. Both are standard actions. Attempts to burst a web by those caught in it take a –4 penalty. Korinne may use her standard action to make a STR check to burst the webs for Dragas, instead of the unnecessary attack.)
Korinne, you can use your Round 3 standard action to attempt to burst the webs entangling Dragas. Kradel could attempt the same thing in Round 4 or Dragas could try himself, but with the -4 penalty.

![]() |

Wasted standard action then 20' move towards the action.
If Korinne elects to retcon her Round 3 standard action and if she successfully bursts the webs entangling Dragas, Kradel will regain his Round 4 standard action and may use it as he sees fit.

![]() |

The GM's crappy dice are taking the 'epic' out of the heroes' battle with Gaedren Lamm.

![]() |

how to get from the upper level boardwalk to the lower level but that's where Korinne is headed with another double-move.
The small door in the southeast corner of the underpier can be reached by returning to shore, then going downhill and stepping onto the underpier's boardwalk.
Another way to get there would be via the secret door in the hold of the Kraken's Folly.
Another way to get to the old fishery's lower level is through the trapdoor that was barred shut from below. The team tried to break through, but couldn't.

![]() |

If Gerry can grab any of Lamm's gear without provoking an AoO, or losing his Total Defense bonus, then he will do so.
The 5ft-step wouldn't provoke an AoO, but retrieving the items would.

![]() |

I'll update Gameplay tomorrow morning, folks. Need some rest first.

![]() |

I don't want to assume too much as your GM. I'll do my best to paint the picture of the obvious things your mundane senses perceive.
If you wish to use your special abilities, spells, or other skills, you can let us know in your post in the Gameplay thread, describing your actions and/or stating them in your PC's dialogue.
It might also be useful for everyone, if you were to put together an SOP for some activities, like approaching a door, clearing and searching a room, etc.

![]() |

Kradel will scan the rooms with detect magic and detect poison to help in the searching.
Sometimes a 0-level orison - or two - is just what the hero needs.
I'll update the Gameplay thread in the morning.

![]() |

My impression is we're floundering about a little bit.
I'm hesitating to add more info until the entire team has addressed what you've got so far.
Kill Gaedren Lamm now, question him and then kill him, turn him in to the city watch? Maybe your PC's backstory connection to the crime lord will drive your preference.
Attempt to identify and to appraise the loot you've recovered so far? (Some of you have, but others have not yet done so.)
Carry out a more thorough search of the old fishery, now that you've taken out Gaedren and his goons?
What to do with Lamm's Lambs whom you've rescued.
To the extent your in-character Gameplay posts drive the action toward your goals, the smoother things will flow.

Dragas |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

I'll be honest. I don't think we're floundering. From a role-playing standpoint, I feel like the mix of things to do among the group is a very real situation for this group and is the first real test for them cohesively and possibly morally.
When you bring six strangers together who's only common thread is the man who's had a negative impact on all their lives, what happens when you neutralize that threat? There's no glue in the way of a common goal left that's holding them together. Everyone's going to have an individualistic agenda for how to proceed. You will have one or two who are like-minded in what they should do, but each person will have a different thought process in proceeding.
I'll put all my cards on the table as a player. Dragas is going to kill Lamm unless someone intervenes physically or verbally, questions or no questions asked. It's not about finding something that this guy stole from someone else. Liberating the kids is noble, but it's very secondary to him. It's the chance to be an avenging force for the trauma this man caused him and how the chance to possibly to reconcile with the person taken from him or at the very least to have a semi-civil mending of fences will never happen thanks to him. All my character wants at this point is his pound of flesh first and then maybe from a monetary standpoint is enough spoil to buy back the item that Lamm stole from the one he cared about and hawked to the pawn shop and when he gets it, there's nothing that's holding him back from leaving the city.
This is where my head is at as a player. I welcome more discussion if it helps things go more smoother and I'd like to see where everyone else is from a role-play perspective because it's a golden opportunity to do so.

![]() |

Fair enough. Play it any way you wish.
I'll keep checking in on the Gameplay thread and stick to what the PCs see, say and do.
When there's something for the GM to add, I'll do it.

Gerry Thylley |

I think Gerry has made HIS wished well known here he he. As for what to do afterwards Gerry has not given it much thought. Certainly turning in the shiver would be a laudable goal for him, just not sure how to do that without being thrown in the klink right away!
Perhaps Zellara has some advice here...Gerry, being an escaped slave, does not really trust the authorities much.

Gerry Thylley |

Man, that is a lot of sweet lootz :D
GM Lorenzo: would it be too much trouble to create a spreadsheet for all the treasure we found, like the one in the HR game? We can then go through the sheet and place claims on what we find.

![]() |

Yes, I'll be posting a spreadsheet as soon as the team wraps up its business at the old fishery.
In case someone is unaware, anyone can attempt an Appraise check, even if untrained.

![]() |

After concluding events at the old fishery, the party will advance to level 2.
Much of this is the result of achieving the goals tied to your chosen campaign traits, as well as some of the story awards you've achieved or might earn if you see to it that Gaedren Lamm meets his just rewards, even in death.
You're all doing a great job of role-playing your individual characters, but it's also important that everyone keep the team's greater goals in mind, too.
In your haste to kill Gaedren and his henchmen and rescue Lamm's Lambs, you've achieved a self-satisfying measure of revenge, but the villain has yet to be held accountable for his lifetime of crime. You've had inklings that a great deal of evidence can be collected within the walls of the old fishery.

Sora Whitespire |

You're doing a fantastic job, GM, and I'm loving all the characters here. Gonna be a fun-filled journey!

Gerry Thylley |

OK, I updated Gerry to level 2. Here is a summary:
Level Up:
+1 BAB
+1 Fort saves
+6 hp, +1 con = 19 hp total.
Bravery +1
Feat: Desperate Swing
Skills: Climb, Handle Animal, Perception
As for the Loot Gerry would like to claim the following items:
Acid (qty 1)
Thunderstone
Studded leather armor (small) (never hurts to have a spare he he)
Masterwork kukri (small)
Lamm's dagger (which is not identified)

![]() |

Thanks, Gerry, for taking a look at the list of loot, and letting us know what you're claiming. Everyone else is encouraged to do the same.
You'll probably also want to find a merchant and sell some of the loot to raise funds. If you'd like to sell something, please indicate your recommendations here in the Discussion thread.
The values listed are purchase price. An honest merchant will offer you 50% of the items' value.
Upon leveling up, you can make a second attempt to appraise or identify items. Sora, you have something that will help with the latter task.

Kradel Blastforge |

Can I get edit access on the loot list?
Besides a vermin repellent there isn't much on there at the moment Kradel needs.
Kradel is pretty much leveled up. I did spread the wealth on class skills, which included linguistics and appraise. So I'll make another pass.
At some point we should dedicate someone as 'the appraiser'. Getting them up to a +10 bonus is all that really needs to happen. With 1 rank Kradel has +5. I don't plan on putting more ranks into appraise.
---
Loot list: I highly suggest we sell off that padded armor for some quick cash. Also, anything with an inscription may need to be investigated a bit as it could be a cool and interesting story line element. If you can't find and investigate cool story line items in an AP then I don't know when you can!

![]() |

I'd like to keep the loot list read-only.
I'll update it based on everyone's posts. If you note an error or omission, just let me know.

Kradel Blastforge |

Works for me.
Since we level up after this segment, I'll spoiler the rolls again with my level 2 stats and let you legislate when to reveal the information I discover.

![]() |

Viggo would like to sell several of the items. His goal is to gain enough loot to upgrade weapons and armor. So, with that in mind here are his level two advancements-
+1 BAB, Spells (1 1st), Clever Explorer, Uncanny Dodge, +7 hit points. Skill points (+11). Reflected on his updated stats.

Dragas |

Dragas just wants the chainmail armor that Giggles had, one vermin repellent, and an equal share of coinage present or what comes from selling stuff later.
For OOC purposes, I'm not removing Dragas from the group. From his perspective, Lamm got the justice he had coming and all he has to do in his mind is buy back the ring that he'd given his love that Lamm pawned off after he killed her and then he's got nothing really holding him to the city.
While that's the plan, I have confidence in my fellow players and the GM that they can find ways to get the 6'6" Shoanti's focus on whatever might be coming next and that I will roll with it from a role-play perspective.

Korinne Bryden |
Yeah, Dragas should take the composite longbow if he's inclined; Korinne's going an archer route but she ain't nowhere near strong enough to use such a bow at this time :)
After looking over the list I don't see much (out of everything identified, anyway) that Korinne would want. She'll take a vermin repellent but I think that'd be about it for the moment.
I am also amused and dismayed to see Zellara's severed head on the loot list :V
Currently at work, so I'll try and get Korinne leveled up in the morning before I head to bed.

Sora Whitespire |

Sora Level 2:
BAB +1
Will +1
+4+1+1 HP (d6+Con+FCB)
Spells: 4x0, 3x1
Skills: Appraise, Heal, Use Magic Device, Kn. (Planes), Perception, Spellcraft
Feats: Deadly Dealer
At 2nd level, a cartomancer gains the Deadly Dealer feat as a bonus feat, even if she does not meet the prerequisites. The cartomancer gains the benefits of the Arcane Strike feat, but only for the purposes of using Deadly Dealer.
Benefit(s): You can throw a card as though it were a dart, with the same damage, range, and other features. You must use the Arcane Strike feat when throwing a card in this way, or else the card lacks the magical force and precision to deal lethal damage. A card is destroyed when thrown in this way.
Harrow cards are treated as masterwork weapons when thrown using this feat, but are still destroyed after they are thrown. A harrow deck can no longer be used as a fortune-telling device after even a single card is thrown.
A spellcaster with this feat can enhance a deck of cards as though it were a ranged weapon with 54 pieces of ammunition. This enhancement functions only when used in tandem with this feat, and has no affect on any other way the cards might be used.
Only a character who possesses this feat can use an enhanced deck of cards; she must still use the Arcane Strike feat to activate the cards’ enhancement.

Sora Whitespire |

Heh! I really need to buy an ordinary deck of cards. I can't use my own spell deck to throw cards or it becomes useless, and I don't think Zellara would take kindly to me using her 'body' as a weapon :)
Or I could wait until Level 3, when cards auto-return to Sora's hands after being thrown.

Korinne Bryden |
HP +8 (5 + 1 + 2 Con)
FCB: +1 Skill Point
BAB +1
Fort +1
Will +1
+5 Skill Points (Diplomacy, Heal, Kn. Local, Kn. Nobility, Kn. Religion)
Charitable Hands (Su): At 2nd level, a paladin with this oath heals 50% less when she uses lay on hands on herself, but 50% more than the normal amount when she uses it to heal others. Using lay on hands to harm undead deals the normal amount of damage. This ability otherwise works like and replaces lay on hands.
See No Evil, Hear No Evil (Su): At 2nd level, the martyr and all allies within 20 feet of him gain a +4 morale bonus on saving throws against bardic performance, sonic effects, language-dependent effects, and gaze attacks. This ability functions only when the martyr is conscious.
This ability replaces divine grace.
Think that's everything!

Loot list is updated.
Let me know if you wish to claim something or recommend selling one or more items.
For the ease of tracking loot, I propose an even division of gold acquired and proceeds from spoils sold. I also propose that the gold earned when previously claimed items are sold also be evenly split among the party.

I'll be working up the Chronicle sheets for Chapter 1: Edge of Anarchy. It awards to a level 1 or 2 PFS-legal PC: 3xp, 4PP, and 1398gp at normal advancement.
I just need the PFS #, name, and faction of the PC you want to apply the credit to. Please fill in the blanks on Slide 2.
Thanks.
