I hope it will be a fun run for us all!
Hereunder is what I will need from all of you.
Please take time to discuss and ask about what you don't understand or do not have yet, and only post this when you have it all (so I have your info' in one place).

On the very top left of all the pages, you will find three links:
Sideshow Slideshow - current information, maps, and such
This is where you will find the battle map, the illustrations, and other such information.
Handout - info' on the Pathfinders
That is the scenario's handout with basic information about the Pathfinders
PFS 2E Guide
This is where you can find the current PFS 2E Guide (until the PDF comes out)
These links are also repeated on the line under my avatar's name.
Can you all go to the Sideshow Slideshow, on slide 4, and enter your name and bonus (in place of the Xs) for Perception and Stealth.
As well as put your minis in marching order (copying the avatar you'll be using for your character).
Shout if you need any help!

Welcome, Teja and Kamil!
Some notes for Teja:
• Tell me if there is something important I need to know that your first Chronicle brings
• I do not think Grand Lodge is a faction (or else from a boon?). Here are the six Factions I know of
• Yes, there is slow track (will be 1/2 XP in this case)
• Starting gold is 150 sp (which is 15 gp) - can of course get gear before starting
• And I saw you put +1 in Perception and Stealth on the slide - that is just for the moment, correct? (you'll have 5+Wisdom in Perception and 3+Dex' in Stealth I think)
And for Kamil:
• You have 12 Reputation in Grand Archive, correct? (the 12/12 is total rep' & Grand Archive rep'?)
• And your starting Fame is?
• Looking at your character sheet, I have a question: Init +2 (that means you add another +2 to your Init rolls? Since Init is often Perception or Stealth - and of course Deception helps for your Surprise Attack)
And, for all, it is important to note if your skills and such are: Untrained, Trained, Expert etc. (like by putting U, T, E... beside). I can guess by calculating, but it makes it easier and faster if it is noted (some rolls can only be attempted if you are Trained, Expert etc.).
Finally, something for the DMs: in this Quest (and so I imagine all PFS 2E will work like this) there is no 4 player adjustment. It is the opposite: you add certain things when you have 5 players, and a bit more when you have 6.

@GM - yeap, just working out details of skills. I mean of course "Grand Archive" - totally not the same as the Grand Lodge... totally.
My calculation may be off, but for perception I would have thought it was: 1(level) +2 (expert) + wisdom (hahahah). I think I'm missing something obvious here.
Stealth will be 1(level) +2 (expert) +dex (much better)
-- I missed you got a +2 as well as level for trained. That makes things different.

Character Chronicle #: 1
Player Name: Farol
A.K.A.: The Mad Hopper
Class & Level: Alchemist 1 lvl
Organized Play & Character Numbers: 2359780-2001
Faction: What faction are you slotting? Horizon Hunter
Factions & Reputation: 0
Starting XP: 0
Slow Track: Nope
Starting Gold: 6 gold and 3 silver
Buying / Selling: Nope
Starting Fame: 0
Conditions & Others: I am just a regular mad alchemist specializing in Mutagenist. Hopper is a Barkeeper and he eagerly tests his mutagens on the drunk clients.
Downtime: Not this time.
So I create my first Pathfinder PC. I know a bit about Starfinder so I will follow the assumption that it is exactly the same. Just here there are no races with 4 hands :(.
Feel free to have a look at this PC and share any insights that you might have. I might change a few things here and there, and I definitely need to choose my potions and stuff ;)

GM Wayfinder |

Welcome the Mad Hopper!
Just had a quick look (did not check how you built it, only the results):
Did you take a Heritage? Charhide, Razortooth...
Perception 5E --> is that not +4 ? Expert 4 + level -1 Wis?
AC: 13 (10 +2 +1 ) [T] --> is that not 14 (2 Trained 2 Dex)?
Fortitude: --> is that not + 4 exp + 1 lvl +1 con +6
Reflex: --> is that not +4 exp +1 lvl +2 dex +7
Will: 0 --> is that not 2 trained +1 lvl -1 wis +2
You are lacking some skills, right?
You have Crafting + 7 + 3 (Int) as an Alchemist, then as Bargoblin you have Diplomacy Alcohol Lore
So missing one at least I think
You have to add your level to Proficiency for all your skills (like Trained is +2 but also level)... I think

Character Chronicle #: 1
Player Name: RedWolfe77
A.K.A.: Mic'al Darc
Class & Level: Rogue 1
Organized Play & Character Numbers: What is the PFS 2E # 2366853-2001
Faction: Horizen Hunters
Factions & Reputation: 0
Starting XP: 0
Slow Track: Dont know what this is
Starting Gold: 6 gp; 5 sp
Buying / Selling: No
Starting Fame: 0
Conditions & Others: None
Downtime: Merchant Diplomacy: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20

GM Wayfinder |

Welcome Mic'al!
Merchant-Rogue, wonderful )))
Slow Track is if you want to earn 1/2 XP 1/2 Gold etc..
You can choose at each game you play.
It is done to keep a character longer.
Sometimes one waits to reach a certain level they like where they get the things they want with their character, and switch then to Slow Track.
re. Bargain Hunter: your Downtime does not earn money, but earns you a rebate on something you want to purchase.
(and did you note that you get an extra 2 g.p.? You start with 170 sp instead of 150)
I imagine the PFS 2E Season 1 Guide will be out, and I will know how much of a Downtime we get for a Quest etc. (8 days, or less?).

![]() |

I have two chronicle sheets for this character from GenCon, but I haven't put a digital sheet together yet.
When are we starting?

GM Wayfinder |

Welcome Emilio!
I imagine it'll take a couple more days for the people to discover their CRBs, finalize their characters and get in.
I imagine it'll be going in earnest after the week-end?

![]() |

I'll check on the math on the gold I used Hero lab to create and i am not sure if it added it or not.
Also is bargain hunter different for PFS on pg. 258 it says it could be either earn income or get a discount.
You can Earn Income (page 236) using Diplomacy, spending your days hunting for bargains and reselling at a profit. You can also spend time specifically sniffing out a great bargain on an item; this works as if you were using Earn Income with Diplomacy, except instead of gaining money, you purchase the item at a discount equal to the money you would have gained, gaining the item for free if your earned income equals or exceeds its cost.
Also I feat Incredible Initiative gives me a +2 to perception checks for initiative. On the slide do you want the base Perception or with the +2?

GM Wayfinder |

Bargain Hunter: sorry, I read it too fast and did not click on the You can also, so, yes, it is either "normal" Downtime or else the rebate.
(wondering what the difference is, other than a RP one)
Incredible Initiative: yes, it is +2 to Initiative (whatever is used for Init', Perception, Stealth etc.)

ready to go:
Teja Khellekdottir
Kamil Durus
The Mad Hopper
Emilio Torres (should be able to get going this week-end?)
I will see about where the other two are (one I know in the flesh and he finished his character yesterday so should be good ; and will PM the other)
Mic'al will not be playing (unless the person I am PMing does not join)
He signed on to the game with an invite and without saying anything, but I did not pick up right away, because his PCs name is very close to a player's real name, and so I thought it was him!
Since I had people signed up, he thus is a 7th, and cannot join.
All this to say I will start rolling by Monday for sure (I hope!).

![]() |

Thanks GM Wayfinder. What you wrote is correct. I filled the gaps. I used an app for Pathfinder 2e test ;) So there were discrepancies. I think I am ready to go.
With regards to purchases, as I am still short of a rulebook, and I use online resources. I can't find any mount that would be suitable for a gentleman like Hopper. I was thinking about a goblin dog or a regular dog would do as well, is there anything in the equipment section of that sort?

GM Wayfinder |

For you, there is only a three legged dog, with fleas.
More seriously:
Most animals panic in battle. When combat begins, they become frightened 4 and fleeing as long as they’re frightened. If you successfully Command your Animal using Nature (page 249), you can keep it from fleeing, though this doesn’t remove its frightened condition. If the animal is attacked or damaged, it returns to frightened 4 and fleeing, with the same exceptions.
Warhorses and warponies are combat trained. They don’t become frightened or fleeing during encounters in this way.
So maybe look into training Nature?
Riding dog (6 cp per day) 4 gp
Riding pony (8 cp per day) 7 gp
Warpony (8 sp per day) 24 gp - (level 2)
For rentals, a deposit might be required, for fear that the with you being a Pathfinder, the animal might be wounded in battle Goblin, you'll EAT it!

![]() |

A three-legged dog would be ideal :P
However, from the Goblin description, I see that they are not the biggest fans of dogs and horses (I imagine ponies falls under horses category).
Could we negotiate that I would buy a riding dog from an honest goblin salesman which would be a goblin dog?
Yes, I meant to be trained in Nature instead of Survival. I don't know from which dumb game I got the impression that Survival is used for riding an animal. I took the rough rider trait, which allows me to ride on any animal that can carry me. I am fine with not using it in the battle for now.
However the more I look for the info it seems that they are missing in the CRB (I got it now), so if you prefer to not go into mount business I am fine waiting for few scenarios.

GM Wayfinder |

Just switch Nature and Survival if you want. As you wish.
To actually ride, w. Rough Rider you have the Ride feat, so you don't need to roll.
And your mount is like a minion (I imagine it can do two actions if you lose one of yours?).
re. Goblin Dogs. I have no idea how it will work out, but my feeling is you cannot buy them like that.
If you want to purchase a riding dog for your character and use it, we can fluff it for this scenario that it is (looks like) a goblin dog (which are rats and not canines).
But I don't want to get into the disease spreading animal of the goblin dog either.

![]() |

Ok, I swapped Nature and Survival. I will delay my decision on the mount. For now, I will work on who Hopper is and his interactions with Lizzy.
I so much was hoping for a goblin dog companion that I could serve my mutagens to.
Either way, I will go silent for now.

GM Wayfinder |

Fine, oh yee mad Hopper!
(I have no idea how things will be in PFS, for now at least, but if there is a Wolf in the animal companions, no Goblin Dog... yet).
@Kamil: yes. And you are in-Tier.
Pathfinder Society Quest #1A: The Sandstone Secret is a Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for 1st through 4th-level characters (Tier 1–4; Subtiers 1–2 and 3–4).

![]() |

With regards to purchases, as I am still short of a rulebook, and I use online resources.
Just info to Help I know I'm not in the game.
HeroLab Online that has a Free Demo of there Character Creation app (it supports PFS. Just check the appropriate boxes in the settings) It will allow you to create 1st level characters, Download Character sheets, and even created a BB Code Stat block.
Good luck everyone and have fun.

So, all are here.
A charming rogue from the north, an experienced sorcerer, a leaping goblin alchemist, a monk with tusks in his mouth, an Emilio Torres, and an Elven Druid.
While some work on your making or finalizing their character sheets, can you post your arrival, to introduce yourselves, and I will get the briefing going?

![]() |

Yes I created this hero using HeroLab. The only thing that I can't understand with it is that it tells me that Hopper has +5 to attack with a dagger and +4 with a sling and alchemical fire.
My understanding is that he should have +4 to all three. Dagger uses Dex so it should be +2 (trained) +2(dex) and that is it. The same for Sling and bombs.

![]() |

Ok, crap I missed that, but still I would add my level to all 3 types of attack (ranged, melee and thrown [which is a ranged]) right?

GM Wayfinder |

Yes.
I have not had time to start reading my big old new paper PFS 2E CRB, so I'm mainly going with what I've read here and there on the .pdf, and on Archives of Nethys.
But, when they say Proficiency, I am quite sutre that means your "untrained, trained etc." level.
For example:
Fortitude (save) will be the sum of your stat bonus (Con) your Proficiency and any items
Then, Proficiency is:
• Untrained +0
Trained 2+Level
Expert 4+Level
Master 6+Level
Legendary 8+Level
So, for most everything, it'll be your Trained or Expert + level (or + nothing, since it is 0 w. no level, when you are untrained).
Thus, for me, since you are Trained in Simple Weapons and Bombs, you have Stat + Proficiency, which means Str or Dex, but those are ranged weapons and dagger is finesse one, so you can use Dex in melee w. it, so:
DEX (2) + PROF' (lvl 1 + trained 2 = 3) = 5
Remember that the sling is Propulsive, so:
You add half your Strength modifier (if positive) to damage rolls with a propulsive ranged weapon. If you have a negative Strength modifier, you add your full Strength modifier instead.

GM Wayfinder |

A reminder for all to have a look at this.
It's the PFS mechanism where you get 3 points to allocate, and can get 1 or 2 consumables to start the game with (Healing Potion, Extra Alchie Bomb, Scroll...) and a Lore Skill etc..

![]() |

Take note of this part:
When creating your character, you gain 3 networking points to distribute among the Scrolls, Spells, and Swords schools. These represent the amount of effort and attention your character dedicated to those schools while training as an initiate. Once assigned, these cannot be changed except through retraining (a process that takes 14 days to reassign all of the networking points and their associated benefits). The benefits you gain from each school depends on the number of networking points you invest in it, and the benefits are cumulative.
However, all retraining is free until second level.
Emilio will invest two points into swords to gain scouting lore. Then the third point will go in scrolls. Assuming someone has a means of healing (even just the medicine skill) Emilio will take a potency crystal and an eagle eye elixir.
Is anyone else amused that the scrolls gives access to magic items and the spells gives access to scrolls?

GM Wayfinder |

I put the link up to make sure all new about this, since it is a good thing to have the consumable...
Question:
I will try to find time to re-read this this week-end, but...
Emilio will invest two points into swords to gain scouting lore. Then the third point will go in scrolls. [...] Emilio will take a potency crystal and an eagle eye elixir.
I thought like you the first time I read, but when I re-read a couple times (gotta love Paizo) my understanding is that you can only take 1 item.
You can only take 2 items if you invest 3 points in one "school/training".At the beginning of each adventure, your character receives a consumable item of their level or lower from a list of options; they have access to the items of the appropriate level in Table 1: All-Schools Items as well as the options on the tables for any of their chosen schools. If not used by the end of the adventure, the item is returned to the character’s contacts.
I believe that 2 points in 1 school and 1 in another "only" opens up the options, but you can still only take 1 item - unless you put 3 points in 1 school (which I did) because there it states you get 1 full level item and one weaker one (min' level 1).
Is anyone else amused that the scrolls gives access to magic items and the spells gives access to scrolls?
Yes! I thought it funny scrolls gives no scrolls...

![]() |

Except scrolls is more about non magical knowledge... at least that is my reading of it. We're just so used to thinking of scrolls as magical..

GM Wayfinder |

We're just so used to thinking of scrolls as magical..
Yes, I believe so too. Scrolls as in preservation of knowledge... (medieval monk copist style) but it is funny re. the magical scrolls we are used to here.
So, what do the GMs we have here think about the consumables you can take at the beginning of the game:
At the beginning of each adventure, your character receives a consumable item of their level or lower from a list of options; they have access to the items of the appropriate level in Table 1: All-Schools Items as well as the options on the tables for any of their chosen schools. If not used by the end of the adventure, the item is returned to the character’s contacts.
Do you only get 1 consumable, unless you have 3 points in one school, in which case you get two?

Hey GM, I took the liberty to do some small changes to my goblin. When I was thinking about him as a character not all of the bits clicked together so below is the list of changes:
a. I lowered charisma 16->14 and increased the dex from 14->16
b. I changed the background from barkeep to hermit
Being a hermit gives an awesome feat: dubious knowledge
https://2e.aonprd.com/Feats.aspx?ID=776
And that would fit the Hopper very well. I recommend for GM to do all recall knowledge rolls for Hopper so that neither the team nor myself don't know if I succeeded or failed.
When it comes to training I am investing 3 stars into spells and take:
Scroll of magic weapon, minor healing potion and Herbalism Lore as a skill
Please let me know if this is too late in the quest.
Oh and as we are traveling for a week I am buying plain old riding dog (mix bread).

GM Wayfinder |

No problem at for changing things.
The Guide is not out, so I guess there are no real set rules, and, anyhow, until the first encounter you can changes.
Also, it's a new game, and we're all in this quest to learn the basics, so I am fine with people changing things around within reason.
So long as the changes fit in the character creation process (like changing a Boost to DEX instead of CHA, just make sure it's possible - changing your 4 character boosts or whatever).
No problem for the dog.
You should also get --Tack-- and maybe some saddlebags?

'Tis Monday here, so I will get started on the journey towards your adventure!
_______________________
Kamil and Larhalt (and Emilio for Stealth) can you put your minis (Larhalt still can choose an avatar to put up on his bar) and Perception / Stealth bonuses on slide 4 ?
_______________________
I will spell the next step out for the benefit of the PFS 2E GMs (who can have a look and tell me if I'm doing this right, it's my first try), but we are playing in Low subtier w. 6-player adjustment
We have 5 level 1's, and 1 level 2.
So that 5 @ lowest, so 5 x 2 = 10
And 1 @ second-lowest, so 1 x 3 = 3
(the lowest and highest, are not lowest/highest among PC levels, but whether you are lowest or highest etc. in the tier, so, in this case, the tier is 1-4, with 1 the lowest, and 2 the second-lowest)
That is 10+3 = 13 (Note: if we had 6 level 1's we'd have 12, which is the same as 13)
So your are in (GMs choice):
Low subtier (6-player adjustment) OR Low subtier with level bump
(I think I posted this before, here, but the PFS 2E scenarios are made for 4 players, and have simpler adjustments for more characters, with things like: if more than 4 players in this encounter, add 1 "whatever monster" per character over 4)
I will go w. Low subtier (6-player adjustment) since most have no Boons yet to add things to level Bumps (and also since that is one less thing to figure out for me for now, plus I'd prepared for 6-player adjustment anyhow).

From what I see I can't afford the dog and the tack. So I will go with buying the dog and bonding with her during the trip. If you will allow, and the reward is sufficient I will buy the tack at the end of the quest, if not then I will buy it on next quest/scenario.
Apparently, alchemical tools are crazy expensive ;)
