Jeskit and Tetch locate the flower he is looking for. Quensha asks around Heaven and finds a helpful petitioner soul who used to be a gardener. He directs the samsaran to a small garden where that flower grows.

Loam starts wandering off with the wrong flower in mind. (Nothing short of a better roll--re-roll or otherwise--is going to save that one)

It's only after Loam spies several Flowers of Icetor that she realizes they did something completely different. She continues searching.

After Loam shakes the cotton out of his brain and realizes that he's been chasing the wrong flower, he manages to find the correct flower in time.

You bring the three bunches of flowers to the Hivetender.

"Excellent! These will be perfect," she says and collects the flowers from you. She dusts the pollen into a small pot of honey and then stirs it while humming an eerily enchanting tune. A few moments later, she declares the honey done and feeds it to the soul of Valais.

As soon as the first spoonful of honey passes her ephemeral lips, Valais' eyes brighten and she stands up straight. "Yes! I am Valais!" she says joyfully as tears begin to come to her eyes. "Thank you! Thank you, Pathfinders, for healing me."

"Ah, but I understand that your work is not done yet," the Hivetender says. "There is enough for you all to try these samples of the honey for yourself." She offers you a spoonful of honey to taste.

Please note whether you eat the honey or not.

Honey:
Eating the honey tastes wonderful and gives you a sense of mild drunkenness.

Having collected all three souls--two demon and one mortal--Akarah leads you back to the Great Library of Harmonious Scripture. "Oh! I just know that you are going prove yourselves in the coming trial!" the lantern archon says cheerfully as he leads you to your judgement.

Inside the library, he leads you to the back. Kitarlo silently falls into step on his own boat as you pass him, paddling down a long channel. You disembark in a large room where Altha the Scrivener ponders over the ritual books you had collected. Five chairs are arranged in a row before him. The archon points at Kitarlo and motions for him to take a seat on the chair in the corner.

Altha the Scrivener stands at a podium in the center of circular chamber. The archon addresses the room in a booming voice. “Kitarlo, you are here as an observer, and I expect you to remain quiet and sit patiently until these proceedings have reached their conclusion. As for you, mortals, the time has come to form a proper account of what has happened here. From the evidence I have gathered, it seems most likely that you have come here with noble designs, but good intentions alone are insufficient. Mortals often show a careless disregard for order and a weakness toward evil influence. The halls of this library could not contain the accounts of all of the times that these tendencies have lead to ruin, from the scale of individual souls to the scales of nations and beyond. On your world, Golarion, mortal sins share some of the blame for the recent surge in fiendish incursions, from the creation of the Worldwound to the fall of Cheliax under devilish influence to the growing strength of qlippoth forces in Tianjing. A soul that seeks righteousness should remain ever wary of the costs and effects of its actions. And so, to that end, I ask of you: what have been your actions since you first arrived in Heaven?”

How This Works

Each of you must give an account of one of the following encounters. Normally, in order, but that would slow things down a good bit in Play-by-Post. So, instead, each of you choose an encounter from the list below and write it up with a Diplomacy roll.

Each successful Diplomacy roll makes the next check easier, cumulatively. I will add those in the correct order once all the tales have been relayed and dice rolled. Basically, put your strongest Diplomats first and your weaker ones last. You earned some separate bonuses along the way as well, noted below.

Entering through Heaven's Gates

The Purification Ritual (an additional +4 bonus here)

The Hunt for Ammoach (an additional +4 bonus here)

Defeating Laktharis (Puppet Show) (an additional +4 bonus here)

Healing Valais (an additional +4 bonus here)

Roland tries to tell the story about defeating the puppet demon.

”Laktharis was the first soul we were sent to reclaim. We were advised by making fun of him and making him less in the eyes of any observers, he would be weakened. That was the case. Through humor, thrown tomatoes, and trimmed puppet strings, the demon gradually shrank, becoming less of a threat, until he was harmless enough to stow in our pockets and keep out of trouble. Overall, we neutralized him without killing him, which I think I relatively noteworthy.”

Tok relays the cleansing ritual.
"We were tasked by the Pathfinder Society to help a fellow pathfinder, who put her life on the line on the line society, rid her of the demons that plagued her body. We gained information that the books we would need for the ritual were in heavens library. We quickly retrieved them and, at the behest of our trusted companion, aided in the cleansing of Valais."

Loam gladly accepts the honey, doubting a celestial would poison would-be do-gooders. This is true, but it doesn't feel like it will help at the trial.

Oh, I've done one of these before! Me and my current Diplomacy of -3 will be waiting a bit before chipping in.

Jeskit pulls Tetch up on his shoulder and goes to stands to defend the actions of the team. True we were responsible for unleashing these evil spirits into Heavean but we quickly addressed that with the full respect and charge of the archons. The altercation was brief. We were victorious rather quickly and that should prove how righteous we were.

"You entered Heaven without fully understanding the effect of your plan or much of any plan. Your pride led you to this foolish undertaking. It would have been wiser to seek the knowledge and wisdom of Heaven rather than trying to accomplish this yourselves," Althas chastises you after Quensha's retelling of all their line sitting and form filling.

However, as the testimony continues, he begins to nod in approval. Commenting simply after each segment that follows, "Your actions seem reasonable."

It now falls upon Loam to describe the healing of Valais' lost soul.

Loam: You now have grand total of +9 to Diplomacy (base stats included)

Okay, let's try this!

Loam takes the stand, as it were. "A hivetender of Andoletta was thankfully on the scene of the third soul - that of Valais. She was also gracious enough to help, as befits your kind. While our shares of the burden were obviously not equal, we searched far and wide for what she needed to fix our friend. A quest in and of itself. But we will go to whatever lengths we are able to purify our friends, our names, and whoever else is in need of it."

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29

Quality!

Althas nods as Loam concludes the retelling of your experiences the past few hours. He is silent and still for a long moment. "Your actions were pure enough even if they did go awry, and I am impressed with how swiftly you have repaired the damage you unleashed," he says finally.

"Valais," he says, addressing the soul. "In order to complete the ritual, you must extinguish the two demon parts of your spirit."

He gestures to you all and says, "Bring the demon souls forward."

"No, no, no, no! No! Please! Let me live!" squeals the babau.

"I was wrong. I will do better. Let me go and I will be a better person!" pleads the klavakus-puppet.

With the two tiny demons before her, Althas hands Valais' soul a white sword. She takes it gently and then eagerly beheads the two demons, who fade into nothingness. With a flash of white light, the soul is sucked back into Valais' body. She awakens with a quiet groan, her soul healed if not her piecemeal body.

"Valais," Althas says. "I am impressed with your resiliency. Come with me to the Garden where your spirit and body can be truly restored."

She stands and turns to you with wet eyes. "Thank you, my fellow Pathfinders. I will not forget what you have done for me."

"You are now free to return to Heaven's Shore," Althas says. "Take this as a souvenir of Heaven." The Scrivener hands you a golden torch burning with a white flame.

There's more debriefing, some treasure, but I'll post your chronicles and give you a moment to react before the epilogue.

Roland reaches out an arm and takes the pure white flame. [b]”I’ve recovered torches before, but nothing as brilliant as this.
