Elixir of swimming -- Is there anyone who doesn't have (or can't quickly call up) a swim speed?
Potion of cure moderate wounds -- I'll grab this to keep it off the loot list, but if anybody else wants it they should take it.
Silversheen -- Happy to take this. If we battle a DR /silver enemy, Heiek's weapon does the most damage.
+1 breastplate -- Uzziah
Mwk longsword -- Adding this to the loot list because I'm assuming nobody wants it
Mwk spiked light steel shield -- Uzziah
Cloak of resistance +1 -- Uzziah and Valera have claimed it, but nobody has one. Looking at everyone's saves...
Valto: 234
Uzziah: 612
Heiek: 255
Iraska: 636
Valera: 875
...Valto and Uzziah could beneift the most. Uzziah is probably getting the armor and shield, so I think the cloak should go to Valto.
Heiek Windrider
Kevin, on the loot list we have the item "Flask full of whisky etched with 'R'" that we got from our excursion down the well. The initial is probably for a last name, but I can't find the list of settlers from the first batch of settlers. As long as we have him, does the flask belong to Raymond Arkley?
Uzziah
Apologies for delay. This week has been tricky for me getting to update pbp.
Valto Qualdra
Going to spend some of that downtime copying spells from the looted spellbook actually.
Warning, bookkeeping ahead!
L1:
Disguise Self, Heightened Awareness, Identify
L2:
Invisibility, Fox's Cunning, Bears Endurance, Cat's Grace
L3:

Decipher spell: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20
28 hours, total of 44 so far. Spellbook at [52/100] pages.
Try invisibility again
Decipher spell: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22
Ok, done. Total of 46 hours spent so about 6 days presuming the 8 hour workday.
We can probably sell on that spellbook now, 1,670gp to split would be nice.
Valto Qualdra
May have gotten ahead of myself there, I need 820gp to scribe all them.
Going to have at our loot doc and see if we can find buyers for anything.
Can we sell stuff to the ship when it returns or does it need to make a round trip?
How about selling to our fellow colonists, can we assume some gold equivalent or barter system has been set up?
GM Kevin O'Rourke
The ship will basically pay cash (or credit) for anything, Azlanti stuff in particular.
Theres some gold in the settlement but at this stage barter is alive and well. Alba Dennivar can create potions/alchemical substances, Luetin Calewick the Blacksmith can create suitable masterwork weapons.
Ye each have one lot of land on which you can build something so eventually I wouldn't be surprised if Valto builds himself a casters tower.

Last downtime, Heiek spent his time making alchemist's fire and using the Downtime rules to earn capital for that. I'd like to do that again (plus transcribe a couple spells from Valto if he learns them), but I need to re-familiarize myself with the rules first.
Valto, if you need money, check out the Downtime rules. You can earn "capital," which just translates to a gold value's worth of goods and services you've earned, which you should be able to apply. Probably not 820 gold's worth, but it will help.

Oh, wait! We promised someone would go back to those Acavna robot-priests and listen. Is that something Heiek (and maybe Perrell) could do during the downtime?
Uzziah
1 person marked this as a favorite.
Actually, Uzziah would too. He wanted to listen.
GM Kevin O'Rourke
Ye can of course. I might give ye a circumstance bonus on some checks where Acavna might be related later on. It's very hard to get them to focus on anything else.
@Iraska have you ever played Seers of the Drowned City? With that last post you reminded me of the time I ran it. It's my main source of experience about Hyrantam and the sodden lands.

Awesome, thanks. Please let me know how many days our excursion takes.

Yes! I've read it and DM'd about half of it as a PbP. I thought the setting was imaginative and exciting, but the module itself is a disorganized hullabaloo that required a lot of narrative re-working. But then, that game never reached the ending. What did you think of it?
GM Kevin O'Rourke
1 person marked this as a favorite.
@Heiek it'd take about a week at least but we can say you can do roll for making gold. Carver will gladly compensate you to some degree for notes you take down. Longterm (outside the scope of the campaign) a book might be written with them.
@Iraska we got through it. Wedged it into troupe game. I really liked the setting. It mentions a module that works well as a prequel I've always meant to look up. I found it worked pretty well but it's very sandboxy... to the point where you might need to course correct so the pcs don't feel like they are treading water.
It only occured to me now it could be very cool to run it as a precursor to Ruins of Azlant, maybe the expedition recruits the PCs from that adventure and mash book one and two together with a bit of leveling up the encounters to adjust.
Uzziah
A heads up. I'll be at a con for most of today and playing D&D for most of tomorrow.
Valto Qualdra
If we can sell the history books to the ship for 5k we can split 1k each. Possibly more if anyone there is interested in ioun stones.
I can fit in some wonderous item crafting if anyone wants to turn that into practical stuff too.
Might be worth considering selling the audio recording for a further 1k?
Sound good to everyone?
Heiek Windrider
I'd think it would be appropriate for someone to make a profession merchant, appraise, knowledge history or potentially another appropriate skill to know of a buyer to direct the sailors towards.
Heiek has a decent appraise.
Appraise: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
Uzziah
History: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Valto Qualdra
1 person marked this as a favorite.
That should result in at least 6k to split 5 ways. (Any extra from the histories with the appraise Kevin? It can sell for up to 5k more)
That means at least 1,200gp each. I'm going to spend a chunk scribing those spells from my earlier post but I should have plenty of downtime for crafting items if anyone wants something made.
Just let me know what you want and provide the crafting cost.

You guys know I love lists, right? Boy howdy!
Kevin, where on Ancorato is Talmandor's Bounty? I've been assuming the east coast. Can you get any more specific? Like central, northern, or southern part of the coast?
To-do list:
Abandoned Ulfen settlement named “Joskadalr” - (Carver)
- east coast of Ancorato
Waterfall cave (archaeological excavation) - (Carver)
- northeastern side of Ancorato in the foothills
Sunken Laboratory - (Carver)
- ???
Crystal Monument - (Carver)
- island off Ancorato’s northwest coast
Ancient Observatory - (Carver)
- somewhere in the mountains of Ancorato (I'm assuming central)
City on Ancorato /kill sea hag named Helekhterie - (Locathah)
- "several days" from Locathah camp
Additional goals from Ramona: quarries, precious metals, lumber, friendly native inhabitants
Heiek Windrider
Kevin, can we retroactively ask Carver if he has even a general idea of where this Sunken Laboratory is from Durvin Gest's notes? And where on the island are the mountains of Ancorato?
I'm thinking we head to the abandoned Ulfen settlement, next (unless I'm wildly mistaken about where on the island we are). Possibly the Waterfall cave after that, but maybe this city the Locathah are telling us about.

Okay, then we're actually probably closest to the Ancient Observatory, which could also coincide with Ramona's requests for natural resources. That's my vote. From there, we are poised to look for the abandoned Ulfen settlement, the waterfall cave, or the city the Locathah have just told us about.
Thoughts from the others in the party?
Iraska
GM: can we say that someone is translating for Iraska? I wouldn't mind putting a point in linguistics, as Aquan seems pretty useful in this campaign, but the stretch may not be needed in this case.
Well, you know Iraska is eager to see that observatory!

"When was the last time you visited these lands and waters?"
"It was some time since we last came here. We had heard rumours of strangers but found none until you arrived. It has been several weeks."
"He said *snrk* Heh... he said that your breath smells like their feet! I don't know, man. I'm just telling you what they said!"
Uzziah
I'm fine with Ulfen settlement also.
Uzziah
I might change my vote with more IC information but Uzziah's order does tend towards that sort of stuff.
Heiek Windrider
City on Ancorato/sea hag gets my vote
Good list Heiek, much appreciated.
Thanks.
I'm not against doing the city, but how would you approach it? We don't know where the hag is, I believe.
Sounds good.
Which option sounds good?
Uzziah
Sounds good. Let's go see what the Ulfen dug up.
Heiek Windrider
That means at least 1,200gp each.
26 is quite high, ye've got a full 5k more.
I meant to come back to this sooner.
So does this mean we each get 2,200 gp? (1,200 from Valto's post, and then 5,000/5 from whatever I rolled Appraise for? I thought that there wasn't that much gold in the colony, so I'm not sure I'm understanding what's going on here.
*********
Things are crazy in my life right now. My wife is in public health, so she's working pretty much 24/7 due to COVID 19 stuff and a city-wide water supply issue here in Houston, so I'm pretty much single dad for a few weeks. I'll probably need to drop off for a day or two (like I did this weekend), here and there. I intend to catch up, but feel free to bot me if needed.

Oof. All the best to you and yours. And many thanks to your wife for her work
I told her an online friend of mine gave her her first "thank you for your service" comment, and she replied, "Tell him 'you're welcome,' wash your hands, stay calm, and only pay attention to information from reputable sources." (50% of her job right now is dealing with panicked doctors and public officials.)
