Now to get my docs in place and work up an intro. We leave on vacation on Saturday. At that point I will not be able to scan any images from the module, but I will *probably* have time to post so I just need to get my act together before then and get some of the images ready and maybe we can start sooner than expected.

Player: John Curtin

I'm prepping for PaizoCon, so I will likely not be active until the 28th or 29th, as a heads up

Player: Marjim Marc Arafiles
Character: Mao Asaka
PFS ID: 259680-4
Day job roll: N/A

Player Name: SodiumTelluride
Character Name: Goldur Twinthunders
PFS #: 89635-9
Day Job: Profession (scribe): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26
Goldur is very much a support character-- not great in melee combat, even worse in ranged combat, but has lots of skills and makes everyone else better at what they do.

Only two bards?? I'm hurt! Aurus did his correspondence course in bardic performance... :P
Realized that he has hit level 5 with the special, so I'll stat him up quick (yay more hitpoints!) and have him show up to the briefing today or tomorrow.

Apropros of nothing related to this particular game, we should keep an eye out for an online con run of Siege of Gallowspire. I ran it this weekend, and it is a TOUGH scenario, but the group I was running for had a really good time. Lowest tier is 5-6 though, so maybe these characters wouldn't be the right fit for, oh, say a year or two out. I'd be more than happy to run it again.
Definitely worth looking into playing with your non-Core PCs if any of you are going to IRL conventions, though - but bring your A-Game!

The fatigue came because of the travelling, re-balancing at this point will not help get rid of the fatigue. It really isn't all that important of a decision whether to camp or not to. I'll just roll for an encounter if you spend the night vs. taking some penalties during the search if you don't.
I'll be gaming on Saturday, and I'm working on an issue at work today so time is tight for the next couple of days. So don't worry about the RL time this is taking. I've actually appreciated the breather with all else that is going on.

Work was bonkers for me too - spent yesterday afternoon riding in Boston commute traffic with a literal ton of robots in a trailer - so happy that our slacking worked well for you :)

Going out of town for a trip into NYC, so I'll be back late tomorrow - feel free to bot Aurus is it comes to Smitin' Time!
(but don't use the smites I only get, like, two of those)

It is *not* PFS-legal to beef-up encounters, but depending on the situation, it might be possible to chain encounters (say, for example, once the alarm is raised, we may eventually have practically every Hobgoblin in the fortress descend upon us).
That said, it is worth noting that the module assumes campaign mode; we are supposed to all *start* the module at 4th level, and be 5th level by the time we get to the final set of encounters.
Given that we have a level spread of 3rd to 5th (and because we are running PFS characters, we *don't* level-up during the module), early encounters may be easy, but the later encounters will still probably be difficult.

I played this one years ago with a very bludgeon-happy GM, and we did wind up pulling nearly the whole keep - so it's very possible and very doable.
Plus, two of the characters are Core bards that won't overlap with inspiration, so that should really make us, like, a 5.5-character party. And Aurus is really only a level 4 paladin with some bard spellcasting.
We'll play and have fun no matter what :)

Explain the cover thing. From the rules it says "To determine whether your target has cover from your ranged attack, choose a corner of your square. If any line from this corner to any corner of the target’s square passes through a square or border that blocks line of effect or provides cover, or through a square occupied by a creature, the target has cover (+4 to AC)."
How do you avoid crossing purple in drawing a path to green? Or am I ignorant of some other rule?
Do you have to make an acro check to leave a greased area?

*Does some digging*
Huh. Well, apparently, for 'low cover' if your opponent isn't closer to it than you are, it doesn't grant a cover bonus to AC.
For 11 years, I have been seeing that applied to *all* cover!
In that case, I will only make a single attack (which means my attack roll on the first one is 2 points higher), since presumably these guys are actually wearing armor ;-)
Re: Grease, the spell description specifies: 'A creature can walk within or through the area of grease at half normal speed with a DC 10 Acrobatics check.'
I was doing neither - the first square I stepped into was not covered by Grease (in the same way that difficult terrain only inhibits you when you step into it, not out of it).

It was that 'within' that made me wonder. Imprecise term could mean walking out of it too. But I don't think I've ever seen it GMed that way. Which is why I asked.
I don't think these guys count as low cover so I think they get the full +4 AC. At least that is how I've been ruling for the gobs aiming at you guys. If not, please explain further why it is +2 instead of +4.

Hey all,
Sorry for going dark - on a family vacation right now and got the news that a close family friend unexpectedly was killed in a car accident. I'll get on as I can, but might be spotty for the next week or so.

Thanks for the bot - finally home, but definitely slept in and took some decompression this morning. Back in the saddle!

As an FYI, I'll be camping tomorrow mid-day through Sunday, so don't wait for Aurus - have him hit hard and hit often while I'm away!
