Viper and Pangea struggle, but can't seem to get that door open...
To keep things moving, I'll roll some aid-anthers here
engineering bug and sev: 2d20 ⇒ (6, 1) = 7 Actually with +14 they cannot fail to aid
Working as a team, the Starfinders cooperate as the wall behind continues to approach in a menacing manner.
Just as they think they are going to come to an untimely end, Viper manages to activtae the airlock, and the team are sucked out into a rather disgusting refuse pit.
All around is mist. And disgusting junk.
Several hills of trash crest above the refuse floor and emit the stench of grease, rust, and old medicine. Miasmic vapors swirl in clouds around the garbage piles which vanish off into the misty distance.
Pangea-Beta
|
Pangea deactivates its Jet Pack, and looks around, wondering if there's something alive in here?
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
If nothing is moving... Pangea will start looking around the walls, to see if there are any other exits, as well as looking up at the top of the place.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
Finally, Pangea wipes some trash from its eyes... and can now see better!
Pangea-Beta

Pangea calls out: "I can fly up and check the top... do you think this leads to the misty area we entered through, with the broken railing?"

Keeping things moving
A quick trip up through the mist shows that it does indeed end up at the area that you first entered.
Pangea-Beta

"Ah ha!" says Pangea, always the great conversationalist, as it discovers the exit up above.
"So, if I remember correctly, there is only one 'door' we have not checked... one that had a ton of things piled up, to the West of the big room with junk piled in it. The big room to the South of the corridor leading away from the top of the misty pit.
The room with the door and secret door in the South wall.
So, just that door there to maybe explore, is that correct?
If you want to avoid radiation, I can go dig up the rubble, since I think it seemed like a long job... and then call people in to join me when I am about done."
GM Aerondor

Speaking of things down among the rubbish... was that movement... or just the mist?
Nope, something moved. Moonquake?

If we do not see what is moving:
Pangea looks around to try and spot what is moving--
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
--and looks some more.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
Otherwise Pangea will move over to it (the Maw thing) and try to attack.
If it is "only" Difficult Terrain it is 8 squares to move the 4 straight up, which is one move for Pangea, leaving a possible attack.

Safe to say the terrain is difficult, but no worse.
Pangea works his way across and punches the odd creature. It is hard to tell exactly what it is, almost as if the bits of junk that had been deposited here had evolved some type of sentience. But that would be very weird.

Sev realises this is a scavenger slime. They are a type of ooze that incorporates odd things they find into their make up - even so far as it being able to "power" tech items (such as that large laser) from their own energy.
They are resistant to most physical attacks as well as fire (and other things that oozes are generally immune to).
Viper's luck does not improve, while Bugface manages to shock it lightly.
It continues to try and pummel Pangea, getting a fair shock in return for its assault.

"I believe that this creature is a form of--to use a colloquial term--scavenger slime. An ooze-like predator that is substantially composed of materials and objects that it has retrieved from its environs and integrated within its own body. As the entity is capable of generating its own internal supply of energy, it is even capable of incorporating beam weapons and other forms of technology, such as the laser weapon that it is now employing." Sev pontificates. "Accordingly, the 'slime'--if you will--is almost certainly resistant to laser weapons as well as most physical attacks. Further, it has no discernable anatomy, no visual receptors, and no susceptibility to paralyzing, sleep-inducing, stunning, form-altering, or poisoning agents."
"This, however," opines the android as he draws his pulsecaster pistol, "should be sufficient--with some additional magical enhancement." Sev casts supercharge weapon upon his pistol.

As the computer comes to life, you see a menu providing options for changing the lighting and opening/shutting doors in the complex. There are also two private areas, each behind a separate firewall.
To the south, you hear a humming from the security room, however the robots there, being disconnected, don't charge at all. That could have been interesting...
