Undiana Jones |
Unfortunately, I've had some bad family news recently and I'm realizing that I should reduce my PbP commitments to be able to focus on my father's illness. So I will need to drop from this game. Thanks for your understanding and good luck to you all. GM, when you get a chance, please mark me as inactive.

Laara |
Yeah, Laara can potentially inflcit a variety of conditions:
~If dealing nonlethal with her unarmed strikes, she may attempt an Intimidate check through the Enforcer feat. If she succeeds, she can either have them shaken for a number of rounds equal to 1+the damage dealt or make them Frightened for 1 round (with no shaken afterwards) per the Thug archetype’s frightening ability (assuming the rounds would have been at least 4). Which one she’ll try will likely depend on her read of the situation
~If getting off a sneak attack, she can reduce the SA damage by 1 die to Sicken the For for 2 rounds (erred in last post, it’s always 2 rounds). This is also from the Thug archetype - Brutal Beating
~If sneak attacking, can also either Bewilder (foe gets -2 AC for 1 round, -4 against me specifically), Disorient (-2 attacks, -4 v me), or Hamper (1/2 speed) for one round. Unlike Brtual Beating, the durations of these can stack with each hit, so if flurrying the duration could be multiple rounds.
~She can get sneak attack the normal way, as well as if charging (Scout archetype) Or if hitting a shaken/frightened/panicked opponent she has hit earlier that round or the previous one (Shatter Defenses feat. This makes them actually flat-footed to her, for AC purposes)
~Outslug style give her +2 to damage and AC if she’s five-foot stepped that round, and she can Lunge with no AC penalty
I’ll try to describe as specifically as I can what she’s doing and where things are coming from, but let me know if you have any questions! Part of the idea as she grew was me wanting to make a control/debuff martial, since I rarely see those (at least locally)
Professor Trey Hurtubize |
Yeah, Trey gets to entangle all the things, and that's pretty much it. If you guys are good aligned he can bomb without worrying about being precise thanks to holy bombs. (No use here unless these are fiendish spiders.)

Thanks!
The biggest things I need to know promptly, especially if due to an ability I'm not immediately familiar with or can't find in my resources are: fear effects, mind-affecting effects, and poison effects.
Valentino Oberon |
@Ragnilde don't forget my Inspire Courage +2/+2!
Professor Trey Hurtubize |
Ah, the eternal curse of the bard. :)
Lissa Villasani |
Speaking of Forgetting....
I haven't played Lissa in awhile, so I forgot that she has the Liberator Boon from the Season 8 Liberty's Edge Faction Goal Card. I was doing a boon double-check when I found it in her folder, and considering the situation we're in, I thought it wise to mention.
When you or any of your allies reroll a check to escape a grapple, an Escape Artist check, a Will save against a compulsion effect, or a Reflex save to avoid being entangled, staggered, or paralyzed, that character may roll two dice and use the better result. Once per Adventure, you can grant a free reroll to a PC who is attempting one of these checks.
If need be, I can scan the sheet in.
Ragnilde Jotunnsdottir |
@Ragnilde don't forget my Inspire Courage +2/+2!
Good point. I tried looking through the flurry of posts but couldn't find it. My time zone makes me sleepy when you guys are fully active.
GM Blake |
I (try) to keep a running tally of party-wide buffs/debuffs in the combat block.
Ragnilde Jotunnsdottir |
I'm still a bit noobish at PBP :)
Professor Trey Hurtubize |
We're all in it together, so no worries. Everyone has to start somewhere.
Ragnilde Jotunnsdottir |
Okay some rule questions, since mounted combat is weird (my mount only recently became big enough to ride). AFAIK these haven't been decisively settled over the years so it's a GM call.
1) You list Ragnilde's elevation as higher than Helga. Are you basically placing here completely on top of here? That's got some interesting consequences for reach. It means I wouldn't be able to reach the ground except with reach weapons, but conversely, medium creatures wouldn't be able to reach me. I don't know if that's intended for huge creatures (no rules at all that I know of). But actually even if you do this with medium riders of large mounts (horses), it would create a situation where say an orc simply cannot attack a mounted cavalier without a reach weapon (or vice versa) which I don't think is the case. My suggestion extend the "mount and rider" rule into the third dimension. Basically, I occupy the same cube as my mount. If my mount can be attacked, I can be attacked; but I can also reach things on the ground more easily.
2) My mount has Powerful Charge so it becomes kinda important to know what to do when the mount has a different reach than the rider. I believe elasmotherium companions of the same size as wild ones also have the same reach, so 15ft. My horsechopper reaches 20ft. If we do a mounted charge together, can we both make an attack or do we have to stop as soon as either the rider (horsechopper) or mount (if I'm using a scimitar) reaches the enemy first?
Alternatively, it seems that according to this faq, I can have Helga charge while Ragnilde just takes a regular attack, right? Because it does mention charges where only the mount charges, you just don't get lance goodness then.
GM Blake |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
1. You and your mount occupy the same space for the purpose of targeting/line of effect/line of sight. Those notes were for some fiddly flying/3-dimensional issues that never came up because Helga refused to be poisoned.
2. As a large creature with a reach weapon, your reach is actuslly 15 ft to 20 ft, so you can attack together (unless you want to keep maximum reach between you and your target [20 ft] then Helga can't attack/reach).
Professor Trey Hurtubize |
Anyone NOT do Part C? That fight wiped all but two of the 10-11 tables last PaizoCon. It was the first time my Flame Oracle got to use Inferno, while my friend's monk entangled them with Marid Style, which was a big part of our survival.
Ragnilde Jotunnsdottir |
Yeah I skipped C, after B I was sick of the overlap. I was happy that D was changed to not overlap with B. I did hear rumors of a nasty fight though.
Professor Trey Hurtubize |
Yep, that was it. Initial run, there was no check to notice the enemy, just "suddenly, SPIDERS" and Pathfinders dropped like flies.
Valentino Oberon |
I GMed C at a recent local con and that fight TPK'd the 10-11 table.
Keriassa |
I was GMing the 10-11 at GenCon and still killed a player (she got better) even with the amended rules...
Lissa Villasani |
*grumbles*
I played C at GenCon, though at the 7-8 table. Worst table I've ever played at. The GM forgot all her supplies at home, she didn't know what she was supposed to run,(She started with the encounters from Part 1 even!) and 3 of the other players were: A)playing Pregens, and B)brought a bottle of hard liquor in, getting blitzed while we ran.
Laara |
Oof, sorry for that one Lissa. Sounds awful.
Laara has also played in Part C before (though I believe they have made modifications to it) and I don't remember this fight specifically being brutal, though it may have been our party comp. She definitely almost dies later on though.
...and she still misses the Flood Road. Only appeared once, but Laara and those orcs got along great!
GM Blake |
Thank you for asking, I do prefer all dice rolled outside of the Take 10/Take 20 mechanic.
Valentino Oberon |
Okay, I'll roll for my Cure Light Wounds wand.
Never mind on animating a spider. I was talking to my very-rules-savvy friend at local PFS tonight and he pointed out that a spider would have an exoskeleton, not a skeleton. There's a different template for that, and it isn't PFS-legal.
GM Blake |
Alright, we have an Aid Token. Please Use them or Boost them reasonably promptly. The faster you send them out, the faster you get a new one, and potentially boosted.
Valentino Oberon |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Yeah, a colossal zombie-spider would be pretty cool too. But I don't really like the whole "being staggered" thing. And it's probably more of a hassle than it's worth to be trying to travel/adventure with. If we could make Fast Zombies in PFS I'm sure Valentino would have already animated it and be riding it by now :)
Valentino Oberon |
Unless anyone objects, I'll go ahead and boost the token with Timely Inspiration, using 3 rounds of my own Bardic Performance.
Lissa Villasani |
Go for it.
Valentino Oberon |
OK, boosted! rounds of performance updated in my stat block.
Keriassa |
Ha, just realized I should have applied my versatile performance bonus (+22) to that sense motive check. I blame Herolab!
GM Ietsuna |
AID TOKEN #3
Passing Aid Token to: GM Blake
Current Boosts: Allied Offensive
GM Blake |
There is an emergency request for an Aid Token to save a PC. Would you like to pass to that table?
Lissa Villasani |
Go ahead and pass it over there.
