Whatever this Mother Broodleaf is doing appears to be magical in nature. Would Spellcraft or Knowledge (arcana) work on the jovial face?

Nyshka manages to convince the aggressive spirit to assist your group, despite it's misgivings.

Cabe, I could see using those skills I guess. Can you come up with a way to use them to get the spirit to agree to assist you?

Hmmmm...

Still addressing the jovial face, Cabe says, "You seem a knowledgeable sort. This Mother Broodleaf has already accosted us with strange magics. Whatever it is seems to be abnormal in nature. Something transmutive, perhaps, but I cannot be certain. Is there any light you can shed on the matter?"

Hopefully that works?

With the last face to commit to helping the group, Dark speaks up.

"Your other two faces have agreed to help us. You should too. Would hate for this Mother Broodleaf gain victory because you decided to hold back on assisting us."

The jovial face is almost swayed, but not quite

Bump. Does someone want to jump in to try to push the Jovial face over the edge?

Nyshka tries to help Schnyder's case. "Yeah if you don't and we end up failing the forest may never be the same!"

Intimidate Aid: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13

The faces point you deeper into the forest with promises of aid. Their directions are imperfect, but the faces seem to hop from tree to tree and pop up every so often as you move deeper into the forest.

The spirits suddenly freeze in place as a burly middle-aged man with the ears and legs of a goat steps out from behind a tree. He grins and waves his hand. Ho there, adventurers! I got bored waiting, so I think we should have some fun! Don’t worry, this won’t take long. I wouldn’t want you to miss the main event, and I plan to have a front-row seat. Oh, where are my manners? The name’s Grimpfkin. So, what do you say? Do you choose to test your speed or might?

Nyshka uses her obligatory detect evil on the new thing she sees while not hesitating a moment to shout out "Might!"

"I mean, that's my vote anyway..."

Cabe raises an eyebrow at Nyshka, ,then shakes his head and looks back to the creature. "Speed, for me, I suppose."

**OVERSEER ANNOUNCEMENT**

Even though much of the forest withers from some evil curse, eager faces flow from tree to tree as the friendly, whispering spirits encourage their would-be saviors onward.

Table GMs, the Helpful Spirits effect is in play.

Grimpfkin nods approvingly, salutes the group with his mug, and turns to lead you deeper into the woods. After about 5 minutes of travel, you reach a clearing surrounded by both towering trees and 8-foot-tall mushrooms. Toward the center looms a menacing shape, and the seilenos whispers to the PCs, Go ahead, I’m sure that great heroes like you will be fine.

With a sigh, Cabe approaches the troll, drawing his dueling sword as he goes. He stops short and pulls one of his remaining scrolls of shield from his pocket.

Move action to move 10 feet and draw dueling sword. Second move action to draw out a scroll of shield.

- We are dead, if it’s a real troll... Anyway. GLORY OR DEATH! charge

Dark sends a ray of frost directed toward the troll, wishing he had the acid burst prepared for this encounter.

Nyshka, Alecto and Dark all miss the enemy as their shots go wide in their enthusiasm.

Wiping the blood from her face, the tiefling grins as she rejuvinates herself.

If the troll takes another swing at Alecto while she's injured, Nyshka will jump in front of it as an immediate action to take the attack herself.

With a flick of his wrist, Cabe mutters the spidery words of magic as he recites them from the scroll. As the magic washes over him and protects him with an invisible disc of force, he channels arcane power into his blade and strides forward toward the troll, trying his best to avoid its dangerous reach.

Casting shield from the scroll, swift action to spend an Arcane Pool point to enhance his dueling sword, and rolling Acrobatics to try and avoid an AoO as he moves in.

Welp. That'll hurt. Good thing I used shield!

Dark circles around the troll to get behind it but hopefully still out of range of it's claws.

Double Move: 60'

Kato smashes his flail into the troll. The blow rocks the creature.

Koto's blow is followed up by Nyshka who slices with her falchion and opens up a deep slash on the troll's torso.

As Cabe approaches the troll swings a claw at him.

The claw just makes it past Cabe's armour and rakes down his belly.

Clenching her teeth after a deep wound, she tries to hit the monster with a sword, but misses.

You see the wounds on the troll close up a little, as if it magically is healing or something similar.

Nyshka draws a flask of alchemist's fire out of her pack with her tail and into her hand. "This should do the trick! Sorry if I hit you I'll heal you up real quick... Die evildoer!"

She throws it at the intersection at the center of the troll.

Ok, that does it.

Grimpfkin ambles out from the woods to inspect the fallen beast. Nodding with approval, he uses his magic to mold a set of mugs from a nearby tree and by knocking his own mug against them, he causes each mug to fill with delicious drinks.

He toasts you and invites you to drink; this grants each of you the Greater Charm of Luck benefit.

You have a couple of options here. We are nudging closer to being pushed into the next part but we can try the test of speed or go looking for lost Pathfinders. Your choice.

Doesn't matter to me, I'll vote for whatever gets the traction going fastest. I'll throw out looking for lost pathfinders to get things going though.

Durnit. Knew that'd be a wasted scroll. Ah well. I vote for finding the lost Pathfinders.

To the lost pathfinders! Also, I need healing. First game, no PP to buy infernal healing.

You can see that blood is leaking from the laceration on Alecto's side.

Medda begins to gather the disparate teams of Pathfinder agents together in preparation. Something’s not right, Pathfinders. Only a fraction of our combined forces have made it here, and our scouts have found several groups mired by the terrain and beasts. However, there are just as many groups that are completely missing. If you have the strength to spare, please double back and find one or more of these teams. They may have run into more trouble than they can handle and need help.

You agree I assume to travel back and look for lost agents.

As they walk, Cabe halts the party and points down. "Some tracks here. Definitely several humanoids. Could be our missing allies. They could also be waylaid by enemies. Keep your eyes peeled." He draws his dueling sword and begins to follow them.

Healing for me and level 1s, I can use anyone else's wand that needs it.

Nyshka sees to the newer pathfinders' wounds with her wand.
