It is an alley, I have moved you inside her shop. It is not a large shop. I will place a token for Pemak there too.
Bernard St. Ivre

I love how off the rails this has gone...
Looking in, So unfortunately I’m with them...but not really. We apologise for barging in like this, but we have had a really...really long day. We seem to always be one step behind a killer who’s been taking out some key figures. The rest of my team have a heavy suspition it’s you. Would you please be kind enough to explain your side of things? The poison used had a scent very reminiscent of the scents coming from your shop. I’m sure an explanation would help settle my friends.
Heal: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20 to explain the poison.
Diplo: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (1) - 2 = -1
| GM Ietsuna |
-1 diplomacy, Hahahahahaha. This is absolutely off the rails
Hannar the Wild

"We found this list of people that the assassin has been killing off. You are the last person on that list. Either they plan on killing you for supplying the poison and are trying to prevent you from telling who they are, or they want to stop you from producing antidotes. Which is it?"
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
| GM Ietsuna |
My shop is small and your associate here is a little excitable with that sword. Perhaps we should talk outside? Pemak indicates the door and begins to move toward it, keeping an eye on Dave. If Dave makes a move aggressively toward her she'll stop.
Xusius
|
Xusius considers what he knows of the Daggermark guilds, specifically the relationship between the Poisoners and the Assassins.
Knowledge (local): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
He looks around the area instead of the party or Pemak.
"Zomezing ees not right here. Ze Poisoners Guild may make poisons, but zey are not assassins. We have zree dead people, all by ze same poison and eet ees pretty obvious zey were poisoned. We have a list of people and zree of ze five are now dead. Ze other two are either barricaded away or standing in front of us. Why? Better yet, were ees zis killer because he should be here eef he continues to follow ees list. Either zat or he ees at ze safehouse. Maybe we should take Pemak here there and have a soiree for ze killer."
| GM Ietsuna |
Pemak moves outside. Are you seeking specialized medical care for a loved one?
Yangrit Foehammer
|
I've moved Pemak's token outside.
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26
Yangrit's eyes narrow suspiciously, and she gestures to the Pathfinders to converge on Pemak. Looks like Dave may have been right. Standing solidly to prevent any escape, she growls: "We'd rather know who else has been asking for 'specialized medical care', especially if they had five 'loved ones' in mind."
Intimidation: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (8) - 1 = 7
She's trying so hard to be stern and imposing, but comes across as simply a nagging busybody.
Dave the Mariner
|
Dave moves right next to Pemak after sheathing his swords..
Are you seeking specialized medical care for a loved one?
Dave huffs.. No seems everyone we value in the Gods forsaken city...has perished at the hands of a poisoner...the poison victims ingested, had a very similar smell to the one wafting from your hut.. Dave arches an eyebrow ready to grab at the would be chemist. Any sign of chemist moving away from Dave or grasping at flask or spell component, Dave attempts to grapple them.
What do you have to say about that?| GM Ietsuna |
I do not provide specialist medical care, but know some people who do.
With the now 2 failed intimidate checks she is clearly not feeling well disposed to your group
You seem to be a group of busy bodies sticking your nose into local business. I hear a lot of what goes on. Perhaps instead of threatening and waving swords in people's faces a simple discussion may work. She looks pointedly around at you all.
Yangrit Foehammer
|
Trying so very hard to keep her voice and expression reasonable, Yangrit replies: "We're listening." She sees how quickly this is going downhill and inwardly curses. Where's someone with a honeyed tongue when you need them?
| GM Ietsuna |
Unfortunately Hannar 1 success kinda got negated by 2 failed intimidates.
Pemak sighs. So you will listen now? I am a vendor, nothing more. As a vendor I am subject to the things that occasionally befall vendors. I am in the market for some private security specialists to help me with a recent problem that I have had. I also hear many things. Did you want to ask me anything. I mean ask, not wave weapons and demand.
You suspect that by Private Security Specialists she means someone who can investigate a crime and punish the perpetrators
Dave the Mariner
|
Dave is suspicious as all get out. You still haven't explained that smell, we'll talk about your problems as soon as you've answered our questions. Dave also ask her does she know Pemak, Bosk, or Clovesh and gauge her reaction at each name. sense motive: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11
| GM Ietsuna |
I am an alchemist, and I was working on a compound. The smell is that compound.... however the compound is no longer in my possession, having been stolen recently. In its current form it is too identifiable to be useful in its current state. I have been doing some of my own investigations into the thieves and I have tracked them back to the Dripping Wall Distillery.
Info dump incoming
Yes, I know Bosk. He was well liked in the community and never drew unwanted attention. That meant that the local assassins guild was unlikely to have a contract on him.
I knew of Brandur also. He was well respected as beingan approachable representative of the local military, pointing the PCs toward his cottage. The news of his death troubles me. His cousin is Jallor Clovesh who is the commander of the local infantry. His position and his popularity likely mean that his death also was not sanctioned by the local assassin's guild. I have heard that there is a group of defectors who have broken from the guild. Perhaps they know more.
Assuming you meant Ramyla, not Pemak Dave.
I have never been to Ramyla's distillery but I have heard very good things about its brews. There is rumors of something strange going on beneath it though.
Xusius
|
Xusius arches his eyebrow.
"Zou said zomezing about defectors. Tell us more about zem. Who are zey? Wouldn't ze guilds be out to kill zese rivals??"
Dave the Mariner
|
Dave relaxes a little... ie. no longer holding any readied action..... Hmmm...you seem to be caught up in this somehow..either your a part of it spinning a good yarn.. Dave arches his eyebrow and studies Pemak once again, sense motive: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18 .. Or you're telling the truth..which means you're in danger because, we found your name on a list...most of the others are dead..*sigh*... Dave furrows his brow recalling something Pemak mentioned. You said thieves beneath the Dripping Wall Distillery stole your compound? How exactly can a group of thugs steal a building? Or have they just threated you not to return there anymore? What's to prevent us from looking in on the compound now? You seem set on sending us to the sewers beneath the Distillery, perhaps to help us..or perhaps your sending us into an ambush..How are we to know which?
| GM Ietsuna |
Compound as in a chemical compound, a potion or poison
Bernard St. Ivre

Interesting, we should probably check up on the friend that we left...
He puts a hand on Dave's shoulder. Maybe it is time to take a different approach friend. We have to start trusting someone - otherwise we won't get to the bottom of this mess.
Yangrit Foehammer
|
Sense Motive (Is Pemak being honest and forthcoming?: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20
Somberly, Yangrit speaks: "We got off on the wrong foot. That is our fault. The assassin has us on edge, not knowing who they are or what they are going to do next. So it looks like we need to look into the sewers under the distillery next. Unless there's anything else you know that would be useful to us."
Dave the Mariner
|
Maybe it is time to take a different approach friend. We have to start trusting someone - otherwise we won't get to the bottom of this mess.
Dave snaps his head at Bernard's uninvited touch and relaxes just as quickly... Perhaps you're right... Dave pointed looks at Pemak, That doesn't change the fact, that Pemak here is either in great danger or pulling some kind of ruse. I'd be lying if I said I was comfortable just leaving her behind. Perhaps we can leave her in the care of Brandur's brother...He shouldn't be too hard to seek out and has as much interest in us solving this as any. Dave's face is determined..He does not trust this half Orc especially after smelling the very same poison smell he smelled after his venture captain and the other's death...
*edit* as a matter of fact...she was awful anxious to meet us outside!
Dave suddenly snaps his fingers in revelation!
Dave looks past the 1/2 Orc woman and says, Do you mind us searching your cottage? If you got nothing hide from us shouldn't be a problem.. Dave drums his fingers on the pommel of his long sword while waiting for a reply. To be truthful ...I'm only asking as a matter of courtesy..We could wait outside until Bernard's brother was summoned and they could search it just as easily? Dave presents the offer in a none too delicate manor.
| GM Ietsuna |
Yangrit feels that Pemak is being forthcoming and honest with her information. She knows a lot for someone who is just a vendor and artisan, but nothing about the information strikes you as untrue.
Go right ahead and look around my shop. I will stay out here. I know what inventory I have so please do not pocket anything, but I know I can trust you.
You might also make it quick about the search of my store. There is someone out here that you may like to meet
Dave the Mariner
|
Dave looks a bit disappointed that Pemak consented to a search so easily, not wanting to loose too much face Dave goes in her hut and makes a cursory search; (taking '10' for total of '17 perception.)
| GM Ietsuna |
Dave finds a few potions that cure common ailments. Cough mixtures, wart removers, topical anti-biotic creams.

Dave comes out of the cottage with a confused and regretful look on his face, Umm very sorry for the trouble mum...it's....it's ...just that it's been quite the day. We'll be leaving you be now, thanks for the information and please be careful...your name was found on a list of murdered individuals. I'd advise you to go strait to Bernard's brother, and seek his protection until you hear more about what we discovered.
Dave looks to his companions, I'm ready to go explore the sewers beneath the distillery. Let's tarry here no longer.

"Nothing to see here, bum. Move along."
As Hannar darts past him at the same time: "Whoa! Why'd you do that? You can't beat random people in the streets even if they look suspicious!"
"Uh, sorry for my friend. As I said, were just handling some business with the good merchant here. I'll pay for your healing services if you don't call the guards on my friend here."

Hearing Uhr’s warning, Bernard moves around to flank with Hannar and readies and action with his rapier to attack if any hostile action is taken by the individual. Hold up, who are you?

With the crowd rushing away you get a good look at the person. And thinking back now this person was acting suspiciously, loitering outside Pemak's shop when you arrived.
