Pathfinder V1 Legacy of Fire

1 to 50 of 100 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | next > last >>

Hello! My itch to run a game is getting strong again, and I fancy a bit of Desert Action in these cold winter months....

I'm looking for 4-6 players, using Pathfinder (V1 for now) rules. I'll be sticking mostly to this for the monster/NPC stats.

I check/post for other games every week day from work, usually multiple times, and infrequently at weekends. I'd like players who can commit to mostly doing the same.

Standard Point buy Character creation. I plan to run the module pretty much as written, so having read the players guide for Legacy of Fire will be good.

Having read this would be awesome.

So. Have I scared everyone off yet ;)

Any other limits on character creation (classes, sources, etc.), or use of non-core rules (background skills, etc.)? I assume starting at first level?

Also, have you run a PBP game before? Are you looking to run the entire AP (I notice you mention "the module" so wasn't sure if you were thinking of just doing one section)?

Good questions! I always forget this stuff....

No other limits on character creation that I know of. So long as you can link me the stuff (preferably on d20pfsrd.com) so I can reference it. I reserve the right to say no to *anything*, but I don't think I have ever said no yet.

I have 5 Play By Post threads, three are APs that started and eventually fizzled out, as these things often do. The other two are Pathfinder Society and Starfinder Society games where I've run quests through to completion. I've been on these forums for 15 years now, and I've been in some loooong running games, so the chances of me disappearing are low ;)

Ideally I'm looking to run the whole AP. I know first hand what sort of time commitment that is though, so I'm happy to take it on a module by module basis.

Oh, and yes, Starting at Level 1

Interested. I'll look through the Player's Guide for ideas, but at the moment I'm thinking of a half-elven Avistani bard of some sort.

Are you planning on using traits/background skills?

Yes absolutely, I think they are in the players guide, the PFS rules for them are here

I’m in. The AP has always interested me, but the only game I ever got into fizzled almost immediately.

I count that as 4 players, I'll cap at 6 on a first come first served basis, and see how we go.

Interested. Is it 15 point buy?

Yep. I'm copying answers to some of these questions into the game description page.

Very interested! This character is currently in a game that seems to not be taking off. I would love to play him. Human Rogue. I would not change a thing except for his stats. Let me know what you think.

I would also have to pick out a Trait from the Players Guide

Alrighty. What gold do we start with for our classes?

Average Starting Gold from the table in part 8

I'm calling that 6 players, unless someone advises they no longer want to join in.

  • motteditor
  • GM Sapphire Fox
  • The Second One
  • Ouachitonian
  • Dragoncat
  • Thomdril Merrilin

We can use this thread to thrash out character creation ideas in case that also causes any drop outs.

I shall be back in around 15 or 16 hours if I don't manage to check in this evening.

Sorry for a quick 2nd post. I will also need to switch around skills because you are doing background skills.

One question I have is are you doing 1 or 2 traits?

I am new to play by post but have played pathfinder for a few years now! If anyone does drop out I would love to play!

Thinking I'll build a half-elven Oracle of Life to serve as the party's healer.

Oh, half-elf friends? I was thinking of making a bard... probably serving as the face and a ranged damage-dealer.

My oracle could serve as an alternative face. :)

What sort of social skills were you planning to spec into?

I want to see what folks come up with for character ideas (including myself) to make sure I think we can all gel before I totally commit.

I haven't yet come up with anything (was planning to think about it over Thanksgiving), though I was hoping to come up with an idea from the new Martial Arts Handbook (which would mean primarily a melee character) but am willing to go in another direction and/or see if other character ideas inspire me.

Diplomacy, Bluff, and Sense Motive, mostly. He's not very intimidating, just pretty friendly and willing to negotiate with a lot of folks. That said, Versatile Performance is a huge boon in that field, letting me replace certain skill bonuses with other bonuses.

I'm still debating on whether to take an archetype or not. Considering Arrowsong Minstrel, if we need extra boom, but not sure we will.

I was kinda planning on speccing into Diplomacy.

However, I'm flexible.

I'm willing to be flexible as well. So, ultimately, do we want to overlap? Is overlap bad? Or should we each try our own separate things?

I feel that some overlap in skills would be alright, as long as neither side ends up hogging the spotlight.

Yeah, I agree. Hm... taking a look at the campaign traits, I think my character will end up being a former slave, out to earn his freedom from bondage. That may mean he's somewhat less... active when it comes to talking to people in power?

We'll see.

Sovereign Court

go ahead and count me out, I'd have to rework too much on characters, my apologies

I'm thinking my oracle is a Pathfinder heading to Katapesh in search of adventure...

Well if that opens up a a spot, I think I'd be interested.

I’m also still interested if you’ll take a PBP newbie! But I totally understand if you want to take someone who may have more experience.

RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16, RPG Superstar 2012 Top 16

If the GM doesn't mind, you can have my spot, Samurai. I think I'll drop out as well as I won't have time to come up with a concept for a while still.

Ouch. I didn’t know anyone still did 15 point buy. That’s tough. But I haven’t seen anyone else running this AP in a while, so I’ll give it a shot.

15 point buy can be done.

Yup. I'm mostly content with my stats, I guess?

So, I would love some thoughts. I was thinking Bloodrager originally but it seems like we’ve got a pretty decent Cha spread, so maybe full Barbarian?

If so, I was thinking either Armored Hulk or Mounted Fury, leaning toward Armored Hulk. Depending on what other people are thinking though, I thought the Clocksmith Wizard Archetype from the new Constructs Handbooks could be fun in a bazaar-sequel desert adventure, if we have enough melee characters.

I am going to be putting points in Diplomacy, mainly because he is a likeable old guy who gets along with everyone he comes along.

@Montgomery Hall do you mind if this character is old purely for ascetic purposes? Kind of a father/grandfather figure.

So what do we have so far from the list from the GM?

motteditor - OUT
GM Sapphire Fox - OUT
The Second One - Bard?
Ouachitonian - Undecided
Dragoncat - Oracle
Thomdril Merrilin - Unchained Rogue
SamuraiNitta - Bloodrager or Barbarian (Unchained?)
YanJieming - Interested

Looks like we could use an Arcane caster....

I think I’m going to go Steelblood Bloodrager.

Liberty's Edge

If there is still a slot open, I would not mind jumping in as an arcane caster...if that will work?!

I made this character for a Legacy of Fire game that limped on for a couple of years and then the DM wrapped it at the end of book 1. I'd love to try again fresh and see if it's possible to get through more of the story.

Thomdril Merrilin wrote:

2, one of them should be one of the backgrounds from the player's guide. If you don't have access to the player's guide, let me know and I will PM you the details.

Thomdril Merrilin wrote:

That's fine.

  • SamuraiNitta - Steelblood Bloodranger
  • YanJieming
  • The Second One - Half-elven bard
  • Ouachitonian
  • Dragoncat - half-elven Oracle of Life
  • Thomdril Merrilin

@Arian and @Daniel I think we are at max numbers at the moment, but as it's still swapping around keep an eye on this thread.

I was thinking something ranged, maybe an Eldritch Archer Magus or Archery Style Ranger.

Bear in mind it's a 3.5 AP as written, you have traits, and I will be trying to keep 6 chars rather than 4....so you have an advantage in most fights....

Good points, all. I can make a sorcerer if we're really lacking in arcane power, or can go with Arrowsong Minstrel, but I'm mostly just open to whatever works for the group.

Silver Crusade

It seems as if my previous post somehow disappeared. But if someone drops out, I'd be really interested in this! I'd go with a paladin/swashbuckler set to be a main tank of sorts (shield other, eventually the ability to parry ranged attacks on self or adjacent allies with feats).

Ok @Montgomery Hall here is my Unchained Rogue. Take a look and let me know what you think. There was a bit more tweaking that was needed than I originally thought.

@thomdril Yep, that all looks good to me.

Amori, half-elven bard and would-be freed slave. I'm still debating getting an archetype, but I don't see many that appeal or seem appropriate for what I have in mind. I mean, I could go with Dawnflower Dervish, or the like, but it would mean he's more melee-oriented.

I'm looking at a wizard, though I'm still trying to figure out the full details for them. I'll be taking some time today to figure that out, though I will say I probably won't post much more today.

BTW: to all those celebrating today, Happy Thanksgiving! And to those who aren't, have a great day anyway.

@the second one Sometimes simple is best ;)

I love that back story.

That's good. It's not my most detailed backstory ever, but I worked on it.

Happy Thanksgiving to those observing!
