Hi everybody! Please check in and introduce yourself (to our full 10-player group for now before I split things up).
I'll kick things off - I'm Eric, a 29-year-old who lives in New York City and works in education. I've been playing and GMing Pathfinder for about 7 years, and I currently run two home games and one other game on the boards here. I've been wanting to run this AP for a long time, so I'm really excited to finally get that chance.
Please let me know if you have any questions at all!

Aria Gest |

Aria checking in!
Hi all. I'm Alex, I work in IT in London, UK. I'm the wrong side of 40 with a wife and two (small) kids. I played 1E/2E as a teenager then a bit of 3E in my late 20's. Then nothing for ages until I discovered Pathfinder! I've been playing on these boards for a while and I'm looking forwards to exploring Varisia! I really hope we last the course and actually play this to the end. Closest I've got so far to finishing an AP is near the end of book 4 of Iron Gods (still ongoing four years later).

Leona Jakobs |

Pathfinder Zoey dotting.
I'm 22 and work as the technical director for my college's local news station while I'm finishing my degree. I joined Paizo with Hotaru of the Society about 4 years ago and we were both part of a few system-less rps for a few years before that.
I ran the first part of a heavily home-brewed version of the first bookat a friends house but it ended pretty early due to the DM having a conflicting schedule.

Eloen Tamlyranth |

Hellooooo... my player is Jess, who is a 45-year-old game designer who currently works on Star Trek Online and has previously worked for White Wolf and as a designer on the original Fallout. I live in California with my partner and our adorable cat.

Rigel Pordyras |

Howdy everyone. The 'real' me is Chris, a 40ish accountant with 4 kiddos who's been playing RPG's for over 30 years now. In-person gaming was becoming a stretch, then I discovered PbP. Happy to join in with such a diverse group!

Ileana |

Ano... I'm HotS, and I've been on Paizo for a couple of years. I first got into DnD with version 3.5 19 years ago, back when I believed Max Dex Bonus was added to your current dexterity... I've since jumped from system to system, with my greatest passion having been for Mage the Ascension. It played wonderfully with my young adult mind that philosophy was everything, and belief was the first step towards reality.
Now, I'm a 31 year old lover of fiction and storytelling that happens to be a manufacturing worker on second shift in Tennessee. My highest level character is a (mostly) Ranger in Wrath of the Righteous nearing the end of book 2. I don't have time for anything that isn't online, sleeping, or work. :(

Ileana |

I can honestly say that I have no idea what you did wrong. A quick google informs me that you made some changes to Virtual Adept and did more with the revised stuff?
For what it's worth, I started with Revised, and the M20 book is the only 20th edition I have. I identified best with Euthanatos, in many ways. Do good for good's sake, because you reap what you sow... but it was also my first (brief) foray into alternate philosophies, and lead to an understanding that my point of view is neither the right, or only one. I was probably a little slow to that particular revelation...

Verus Deus Calvaluna |

Hi everyone! I'm 36 and I live in Calgary, Alberta. I'm fairly new to Pathfinder and RPGs in general. I try a PbP once or twice a year and after it fizzles out in a month or two I get frustrated and walk away from gaming for awhile. This one looks like a pretty good group of people and a dedicated GM so I'm confident we'll get through it.

Theron Istral |

Hey everyone! I'm 26 years old from California, currently looking to get into education myself. I got started with TTRPGs in college a few years ago thanks to some friends bringing me into their long-running campaign. Funny enough, it was a 3.5 campaign that I came into at about level 13, and by the time IRL halted it we were about to hit level 20. So I actually have more experience in 3.5/PF at higher levels than I do in the lower and mid ranges.
I've played a handful of other systems as well, though never Mage unfortunately. I do quite enjoy V20, though.
Anyway, happy to be here!

Hello fellow adventurers! I'm 35yo and live in Rio de Janeiro, but will probably move away to run away from the dictatorship that is creeping over my country. I'm a Statistician in the second half of my PhD and also teach Statistics in my university.
I've started playing RPG back in 2001 or 2002, with DnD3 and never really stopped despite some hiatuses. As for DMing, I have a (two tables) currently paused homebrewed DnD5 campaign and am waiting for my Invisible Sun's Black Box to arrive.
I mostly enjoy playing magic characters. If I play a fighting character, they probably can cast something as well (Paladin in DnD5 is great for that).
Despite having no exclusive dedication to any particular system, Pathfinder 1 represents a meaningful part of my playing life.
Now let's kick some Runelord's buttock!

It's a long story, the basic gist is that it became a case of Edition Wars, with people arguing about which edition was better and vilifying this thing or that. It wound up getting me death threats!
Sooo DM, are we almost ready to go? :D

Wendell Romanski |

Greetings everyone. I'm Joe, age 40, and live in Pennsylvania. I am an Emergency Medical Technician and work night shift (7 PM-7 AM).
I've been playing various pen and paper RPG's since I was in my teens. Currently I am a Venture Officer for Pathfinder/Starfinder Society organized play. I am running the Carrion Crown AP via PbP currently and also playing in a few PbP games. Thankfully my work schedule normally gives me time to post while on shift which helps fill my downtime between calls and paperwork.
I am looking forward to finally getting to participate in a Rise of the Runelords game. It is one AP that I've wanted to play for a long time.

Eloen Tamlyranth wrote:Sooo DM, are we almost ready to go? :DYes, almost ready! I believe we are still waiting on one person to check in here (though I've heard from him on PM), and I'm still waiting on two people to respond to my questions on PM before we get started. Hopefully today or tomorrow!
I recommend you tell them about this thread. I was slow and it wasn't obvious to me that I was supposed to look for something here.

![]() |

Yep I did, thanks. I'm more so waiting for responses to the background questions, so if you haven't checked your PMs, please do!
I'm actually waiting for you to get back to me about my trinkets. ;-)

Lucino Gardener |

Hello all!
I'm Matthew, mid-30s in north Texas working in project controls and estimation. I'm always interested in telling an interesting story, and this seems like a really fun character to develop too. Glad to be here and excited to get started!

![]() |

So, did it start already? How do I know if it started?

Aria Gest |

Not as far as I'm aware. I'm sure the GM will let us know.

Shalm |

I'm still waiting for one response to the background qeustions, but we can get going anyway! Gameplay threads are up (linked below)!

Ileana |

@Eloen: Apologies if I made you uncomfortable. :)
@Table 1: Which of you are locals, or have at least spent more than a month or so in town?

@Table 1: Which of you are locals, or have at least spent more than a month or so in town?
Ask us in game! ;-)

Ileana |

That will be a truly awkward question to ask, given that my character has lived here her whole life. 'Oh, I'm sorry, it appears that even though we live across the street from one another in a small town, I didn't know there was a gnomish toymaker who has lived here since before I was born.' :P
I'll take that as 'You are not familiar with my character' until I'm told otherwise, though :P

![]() |

That's fair! I've been in town for about 3 months.

Wendell Romanski |

I am not a local to the town but may have been seen passing through on a few occasions.

![]() |

Say Shalm, can I know exactly how much I've managed to sell by the end of the day? I mean, my wares have set prices...

![]() |

I was thinking of replacing Diplomacy for Bluff, since my selling strat is through a fantastic lie!

![]() |

I hope the party doesn't scrutinize me for using 25% of my spell slots not knowing if we'll run into any trouble today, but it's business. I hope you understand.
@Shalm: Still waiting for the daily (badly rolled) winnings.

Ileana |

Working under the assumption that the goblins are still coming, if I use Judgment prior to them getting here, will Judgment end? If not, I'd like to add activating judgment for some fast healing. :P

Ileana |

Ileana's rounds would have the following actions, depending on if they are still relevant when they arrive:
Round 1 of between combat downtime: Stabilize cast on Red.
Round 2 of between combat downtime: Fully KO Blue goblin with her scimitar, and ask if Leona is sure she doesn't want her wounds healed... they look pretty bad.
Further rounds depend upon if we have them... and she'll prioritize healing Leona over any other action if Leona asks for it.
Ileana moves to Leona's side once more and intones "Sun's Warmth" once more, before her hand is suffused with the glowing golden light. To Leona, it feels like basking in the warmth of a midday sun as her wounds begin to heal over, the light suffusing her - and then it's gone.

Ileana |

Which of the above actions resolved? :)

Leona Jakobs |

Rigel also healed Leona and she'd only need one to be at max so one of you should save the spell slot

Ileana |

Nope! I was happy to see you step in and throw out the healing before I had the chance to. Stabilizing one goblin and KOing the other is plenty of action for me... plus I got to see the other characters roleplay a bit. :)

Leona Jakobs |

I'd like to go for the bard but if red is still up I'd provoke an AoO, depending on rolls we could try to drop blue and red first but bard might get another attack

![]() |

Can someone move me 20ft to the right please? I'm on my phone and don't want to mess up the map again.

Leona Jakobs |

Don't want to risk giving bard soft cover from ranged attacks so just going to try smacking whatever is in range, also my dice hate me

Ileana |

I can change my avatar if you'd like. Since I use Paizo Campaign Tools, I'm able to apply custom avatars to characters. I've been using this image for her avatar for a bit. The current image is just the closest I could find to something that looked right at the time of creation. :)

Leona Jakobs |

All of them unless stopped

No problem, we just had a small in party fight, no biggie.
