Da'at
|
OK, I have placed everyone on the map, given the Lore Wardens some images that look more robot-esque, and separated them by color. I don't know who else is going before me, but this is PbP; there is no reason I cannot post my actions and then the GM can resolve them in initiative order.
Da'at giggles. "No food allowed in the library!" he says as he tosses the grenade which explodes, not with a bang, but with a whoosh as suddenly there is now a small earth/ramen elemental in front of one of the robots.
Grenade toss: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Looks like I missed. We will determine where it landed.
Off-target: 1d8 ⇒ 3
Summoning a tiny earth elemental. Chibi-Rock will then attack the robot. I'm combing through the rules as to how summoning works - I'll post the creature's attacks later, to be resolved in initiative order.
Edit:Found it!
The elemental roars as it moves up and rock-hard pre-cooked noodles shoot out to main its terrifying foe.
Slam vs KAC: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13

| Raia, Technomancer |
Raia glances at the summoned elemental - thinking it might barely be a speedbump to these things - and seeing nobody else eager to engage in melee, decides to whip out her baton and charge in.
Double move around the outside of the threatened area to end up beside the one behind. Drawing the baton as part of the move.
| DoubleGold |
The heroes try to attack. Da'at tries to throw a grenade, but he fumbles the ball and it explodes in no place useful, he must have played football for the Cleveland Browns. His monster attacks and it bounces off the enemies natural steel. Spanner forgets to aim, instead he fires from the hip and Raina moves forward.
Reynold didn't believe there would be trouble and wasn't ready, he thought he was exploring a beautiful site.

Reynold Malkin
|
Reynold targets the near robot (red) with his static arc pistol. "Get 'em, folks!"
Move action get 'em, all PCs and allies gain +1 on attacks vs red for 1 round, standard clever attack: If Reynold's Bluff surpasses Sense Motive modifier +10 or 15 + 1.5xCR, robot is flat-footed (-2 EAC & KAC) vs. all PCs and allies, if not then it's only against Reynold.

Unsure if she wants to attempt cast a spell when toe-to-toe, Raia instead focuses on swiping with her baton... to little effect.
Da'at
|
Lets not forget Da'at.
Da'at hoists his machine gun, moves away from his companion lest the robots prove to have grenades and lets out a quick burst.
Brap vs Red (KAC): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
Damage: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Meanwhile, the elemental is unable to appreciate the finer points of football, being a construct of noodles, salt and unnamed spices in a galaxy far, far away. What it can do is attempt to hit the robot.
Slam vs Red KAC: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19

Da'at

Actually GM, you have hit the elemental. No matter what you roll on the damage die, you will destroy it.
Da'at emits a disappointed "Aww" as his elemental is turned to noodly powder.

Reynold nods to Da'at. "You got this, bud! Bring him down!" He also takes another dirty shot at the robot.

Da'at
|
Da'at just barely misses as he bounces of natural armor, while Reynold hits his target. Spanner targeting EAC shoots once and blast the thing in the head causing it collapse, then misses the other one.
One enemy down
I beg to differ. From the spoiler, we know that their KAC is 16. Reynold's Get 'Em envoy ability lowers Red's KAC and EAC by 2, making the KAC 14. My second attack hits KAC of 15. So by that count, my hit should have blown the red robot away and Spanner's attack would have damaged the other, sole remaining robot.
Now, you could argue that I should have waited for Rey to take his action but because we aren't using any initiative tracker, it is difficult for me to say that I delay until after Rey; although technically, if we go by what initiatives we do have, I would still benefit from Rey's previous round of Get 'Em.
That said, while I am perfectly capable of accepting that I won't hit, this all feels rather slapdash.
| Raia, Technomancer |
Seeing the first of their opponents fall, Raia nods in satisfaction. She hadn't taken a bad hit yet and was disruptive enough that she was keeping the Warden from using its magic.
Sticking with the plan, Raia steps behind the warden, to ensure a clean line of fire for her comrades, before activating a prepared script on the nearby tech.
Move action to Guarded Step behind the warden, Standard action to use Amplified Glitch.
Computers check: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (7) + 14 = 21
Target DC is 16 + (1.5 * CR). So it worked if it is CR 2. Effect is Shaken for 1 round.
| DoubleGold |
Sorry about that Da'at, I've always remembered Get EM as being +1 to attacks for all heroes and nothing else.
Da'at actually kills the robot, causing Reynold to bluff the next one out, hit him, and then Spanner shoots the robot twice since it is flatfotted putting a massive hole in him. 26 dmg on it.
Raina tries to shake the Lore Warden, but figures out it is harder than she thought, better make better Glitches. CR 4.

Da'at
|
"How you holding up over there" asks Da'at to Raia before adding "You know what? Don't answer. And while you're at it, don't move... Too much" he finishes distractedly as he uses his second set of arms to unsling a sleek-looking Hydra cannon. Punching in a few keys, the various barrels on the weapon whir slightly as they adjust for the technomancer. "Hey! Robot boy!" he calls out as he points the new weapon in its direction. "Say "Cheese!""

Raia took some damage. Should we rest first?
| DoubleGold |
Heroes take a short rest and head quietly upstairs. Just a few floors up they run into a shy creature. It is a four legged creature with a tail, but it is classified as a plant, as it has a lot of plant like feature, as its head is covered with plant like tentacles. It is out of its cage.
Da'at
|
While most of the Starfinders rest, Da'at looks through the robot debris, picking pieces here and there to rig up another grenade, which he finishes up with an addition from his backpack: a package of Eoxian dried noodles.
***A few floors and some gallivanting later***
Da'at looks to the creature, then to his companions, then back to the creature. "Uhhhh... Anyone have a clue what hydroponic farm that thing escaped from? Do we have any Circle-Up? Anyone? I left mine at home. Actually that's a lie, I never had any. But if I did, I'd probably leave it at home."
| DoubleGold |
As it sees Da'at it barks at him, he gets the feeling it might attack if threatened. You hear a voice on the intercom from the Knights. Don't you dare harm that creature. His name is VINDURTH. Not our pet, but the owner would be very mad and but be careful not to upset it, and it needs put back in its cage. Consider this a training exercise.
Spanner
|
"I... uh... don't do plants."
Is there a way around Vindurth?
| DoubleGold |
You can ignore Vindurth and go upstairs. But doing anything other than putting it in its cage reduces the credits you each get by 190. If none of you have handle animal, then you will have to make two consecutive strength checks vs its strength check to pick it up and force it in its cage while it gets to attack the person. How much do you want those 190 credits? Oh and You will have the ability to purchase a special serum that appears on your chronicle sheet.
Spanner
|
I'm ok with that, but if others wish to go for it, I'll join in.
Da'at
|
Da'at looks to his companions. "Well, lets do this training exercise by the bozos who don't have authority over us or have any good solutions for us" he states, uncaring if the intercom broadcasts his words through.
Slinging his weapons back over his shoulder he approaches, softly. [smaller]"Alright you big bushel of bullshit, come on; daddy needs to get going, and you are causing a ruckus."

Not that it matters, but waiting for the rest of the team to weigh on in would have been appreciated.
Da'at grunts as it swats at him. "OK. That hurt." He looks to his fellow teammates. "Are we ready to do this altogether this time?"
Zero-Six-Eight-Nine

"Can't we just shoot it?" 0689 offers up dryly.
He then shrugs and looks over to Da'at, "Ready when you are."

Once it hears Spanner say not to hurt it, it lets you pick it up and put it in its cage. The answer to what happened is its special ability
a living creature with its tentacles, it siphons off a portion of
the target’s genetic code and psychic resonance, temporarily
reshaping its own physiology and psychology to match its
victim’s. This grants the ksarik one of the following abilities
(provided the target has it) for 1 minute: blindsense (up to
60 feet), blindsight (up to 60 feet), darkvision (up to 60 feet),
damage reduction (up to 5/—), resistance to one type of energy
damage (up to 20 points), burrow (up to 40 feet), fly (up to 40
feet, with maximum average maneuverability), swim (up
to 40 feet), or water breathing. Alternatively, the
ksarik can gain the ability to understand
(but not speak) up to three languages
that the target knows, gain the target’s
weapon proficiencies (its tentacles can
operate two-handed weapons in this
state), or change the damage dealt by its
acid spit ability to any one energy type
dealt by one of the target’s supernatural
attacks. A ksarik can maintain only one
adaptation at a time, and gaining a new
adaptation ends the previous one. A ksarik can
spend 1 Resolve Point to extend the duration
of an ongoing benefit by 8 hours. It can also spend
1 Resolve Point to gain a second adaptation and
sustain them both simultaneously.

Now What?
Da'at
|
Da'at, readying himself for another push of the beast into its cage, blinks as it just... Goes on ahead and moves back into it. "Oooo-kaayyyyyy? Hellknights in the intercom, care to comment? No? Didn't think so." With a shrug, he moves up to the cage, closes the door gently as he coos "Alrighty, uncle Da'at is just gonna clooooose this door for you so you don't go wandering too far off. I'd give you a snikety-snook but I'm fresh out. They don't refill the vending machines here apparently." The door locks and the Kasathan sighs in relief. "Well. That was nice. I only got smacked in the face once for that." He looks around, expectantly. "So, we allowed to look at the runes on Vindurth or is that grounds for a brain-melt?"
Apart from the runes on this guy's hide, anything else of note around here? Also, did we grab a copy of the virus for them to store back? Otherwise I suggest we go back grab that and return to our hosts so that we can get access to the info we need.
Da'at
|
My understanding was that the Lore Wardens had the virus on them, unless I'm mistaken.
Reynold Malkin
|
Alright, I'm back! Nice work corralling the ksarith.
With both assignments complete, Reynold looks to his allies. "I suppose now we can return to the axiomites and begin doing research?"
| DoubleGold |
Okay, you are right the Virus is where the Lore Warden are. And Zo is suppose to be helping you right now
After heroes put the plant animal in its cage they realize they forgot to retrieve the Virus from the Lore Warden so they do that. They realize on the third floor is a familiar voice he heads down, it is Zo. Hey guys up here, follow me, just thought you might want to check this out before leaving the building.
