Instead of, say, looking pained, Zero grins like a madman in response to being struck. He doesn't retaliate against that foe in recognition of Elsaurru fighting alone. The oread careens through the air with a kick, followed by both fists rocketing towards the same target.

Attacking 6, using a ki point for an extra swing. If it goes down, can I send any remaining strikes at 3? That looks like a very hard corner.

***OVERSEER ANNOUNCEMENT***

The Dark Archive has recovered the missing codebook, allowing Zarta Dralneen and her agents to create contradictory signals that confuse the Black Echelon undead.

Table GMs, the Dark Archive mission has been completed, and that faction’s special condition on page 10 is in effect. No new groups may start the Dark Archive mission; those groups already in progress may complete the mission and report the success towards one of the other missions.

Dark Archive

Dark Archive: When the Overseer GM announces that the Dark Archive objective is fulfilled, Pathfinder agents begin broadcasting illuminated signals that confuse the Black Echelon agents. Once during the adventure, the PCs can activate this benefit grant all undead creatures present the confused condition for 1 round. If an undead creature confused in this way attacks a PC, it takes a penalty on its attack rolls equal to half the group’s APL.

This has been added to the boon list on the slides.

She fumbles the footwork a bit, but between her Muscular Timing Augmentation Generator (MuTAGen for short), allies positioning, and inspirational battle dance, she still manages to line up a reasonably accurate strike.

She mutters to herself unintelligibly. Maybe I should practice with something a little larger... like one of those chainsaws from Numeria?

E-lsaurru pauses, breaking a bit out of her combat fugue she was in.
Turning, she watches as Zero and Kosaki bear down upon the last undead.

Sighing...she says quietly, "Demons...undead, both seem to send me back to the Worldwound....all those deaths....madness....perversions of nature. I should just go back to the simple life of Sargava and leave all this." Stinker uses his spear to bonk E-lsaurru on her head, (1 pt non-lethal) and chitters at her while pointing at the breastplate, at the sky, then at her.
"You are right Stinker. I do have gifts that need to be used, and they were given to me by Gozreh. After that temple...I can't sit around and let others die when I can protect them.

Once the fight dies down, Zero quickly writes a response to Chou. He isn't sure if she's still interested, not a minute after the question was asked.

Blah Blah Backstory Note:
"I had no name early on, as I was young and without parents. Upon being inducted into an offshoot school my master created, I was dubbed Zero. They followed the same numerical process with later students. I happen to think they should have been Zero and I One, but at the time I was the learner, without ground to question their judgement. More recently memory presents them as one with lapses in mental stability."

The PCs can find Lady Gloriana Morilla, leader of the Sovereign Court faction, reading through a growing pile of reports. Every minute or two, a courier delivers another sealed letter, or a charmed animal scrambles in through one of the doors or windows with a rolled up missive from elsewhere in the city.

“The city is in dire straits, Pathfinders. The Siege Lord Wynsal Starborn is a strong leader, but he’s had difficulty gathering the High Council—and in turn getting other nobles to focus. The recent acts of sabotage have caused many noble families to seal off their estates or begin evacuating the city in private ships. Not only is this cowardly exodus clogging the harbor and sowing confusion, but it is also disrupting other defenses because the nobles had earlier promised their household guards’ service in defending the city. Acting under authority granted by the Siege Lord, help me find them and remind them of their responsibilities as members of the nobility. History need not remember them and their descendants as the ones who failed Absalom.”

Lady Morilla entrusts the PCs with a list of four family names — the Arpadors, Caperinas, al-Hadirs, and Tullians — and their presumed whereabouts. The PCs can confront the noble families in any order. The first three on that list are more well established families who are hiding out in their estates. The fourth is a lesser known familiy who is said to be heading to the docks to evacuate. You might now something about the more familiar families.

Arpadors:
Knowledge (nobility) DC 16 or Knowledge (local) DC 20
Spoiler:
The Arpadors were originally merchants who effectively bought their way into the nobility with their considerable wealth accumulated in the cattle trade.

Caperinas:
Knowledge (nobility) DC 16 or Knowledge (religion) DC 20
Spoiler:
The Caperinas are from Cheliax, and like many of their fellow Chelaxians, they are sticklers for law.

al-Hadirs:
Knowledge (nobility) DC 16 or Knowledge (history) DC 20
Spoiler:
Centuries ago, the extended al-Hadir family produced many great warriors who fought Taldor and became war heroes.

As they are walking to whichever is the first stop on trying to fix this issue, E-lsaurru looks over to Chou. "Not exactly true on my name Chou. I shorten my name to 'El', spelled 'E', 'L', not just 'L'. Mainly because others seem to have issues with the last part of my name being hard to pronounce. Let's not even talk about my surname. Actually, thinking on my name, I think the first person who ever did shorten it to 'El' was another oread I met in the Worldwound. His name was Graldnot. We were in the same wave that went to the Worldwound as crusaders.'
Looking over towards Zero, E-lsaurru chuckles a little. "He talked a bit more than you Zero, but not too much more. Was great in a fight, and also fought with his hands, though not with the discipline you do. Probably why I fugued back in the last fight, he was always at my back when I did something reckless."

"Of course this was before I met Stinker here," she says scritching its head and pulling a piece of dried kiwi out for him. "This little fella became a fast friend down in Sargava. Protected me even in the middle of a battle with a T-rex...or some other dinosaur with large jaws, little arms and all that. Flew up to it's eye with that little spear and poked it right in. She then turns her attention back to the main goal at hand.
"I get that the Tullians are fleeing but, we don't have much information on them. I would probably go with the Arpadors they seem like they are hardworking folk who would listen to reason. Or al-Hadiers as heroic warriors in the past they can surely understand the need for protecting Absalom."

The water is calm (DC 10 Swim). You can wade through the first square of water from (at 3x movement cost) but it quickly gets too deep.

Moving a noble in the water requires a drag combat maneuver check to secure them. Once you succeed on a check, further checks are not necessary even if it takes you multiple rounds to get them to shore.

Chou runs full speed towards the water.

When uncertain or in doubt, run in circles, scream and shout.

Shawa, making an active perception check in combat rounds is a move action.

As Chou and Shawa sprint toward the docks, two Black Echelon move out of nearby buildings to accost them!

Shawa will take a step back and weave a spell. As she does so, she claps her hands and pulls something large out of the muddy earth. From underneath the undead in front of her, the moisture collects and draws forth a mighty ice spear.

//can i force it to fall prone away from me, otherwise just roll it randomly

damage: 2d6 + 2d6 ⇒ (4, 3) + (4, 5) = 16 — piercing then cold, dc 20 reflex save on that.

trip: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30 — only if it fails reflex

As a swift action activate burst of speed (+30' movement for 1 minute).
Double move.

Okay, movement is important, so 4 south from where I started (20' distance), 3 diagonal south west (20' distance), 8 due west (40' more distance), then attempting to do a dive in via acrobatics and/or swim to get right next to the south one (15' movement, either jumping and/or swimming--prefer jumping/diving, would look cooler).

Swim: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 2 + 12 ⇒ (6) + 2 + 12 = 20 To get a 15' long jump (DC 15 with running straight) (+12 is for faster base movement (+4 per 10 feet over 30))

As she runs, E-lsaurru asks Shathva to help the drowning noble person. She nimbly moves around the fight between the Black Echelon and Shawa, quickly calling, "I will be back, hold out until then." As E-lsaurru gets near the end of the pier, she nods stinker toward the middle noble person and Stinker flies off toward that person. At the last moment, E-lsaurru does a perfect dive into the water right next to the 3rd noble person.

And now out of actions...next round I hope to get the noble person grabbed and started to move towards the shore. Stinker is going to fly near the middle one, possibly attempting to bite him/her if they appear about to go under--his bite can curse them needing to be wet or else suffer damage, but it also allows them to hold their breath up 2x's as long.

Mental Focus and Occultist:
Also--as I don't know if people have dealt with Occultists much--or a battle host archetype, but my total mental focus is 9, I usually split the mental focus between Abjuration (3pts) and Transmutation (6 pts), as Abjuration pts I rarely use, and Transmutation is used a lot. Sudden Speed spends out of the Transmutation pool, so I have 3 left in there.

The Exchange: When the Overseer GM announces that the Exchange objective is fulfilled, a cache of pristine and deadly armaments becomes available. At the beginning of one encounter, the PCs can activate this benefit to treat the enhancement bonuses of all their weapons as 2 higher for the duration of the encounter. Treat the effective enhancement bonus of mundane weapons as +0.

GM, does this mean we just get a static +2 to hit/damage, or can we add special abilities to the weapons (examples...agile, bane, keen, holy)?

Dark Archive

Just +2 to hit/damage for whatever encounter it is activated for.

Seeing a physical task to do, Zero's boredom shifts into a grin. Not too concerned with the Black Echelons, he edges around them on his way to the water.

Double move.
